How is the Lead & Gold single player? Is there a story mode or anything like that?
Nope. MP only.
Sonic All Star Racing for today, 50% off $14.99
Meh.
How is the Lead & Gold single player? Is there a story mode or anything like that?
The only single-player option is a tutorial mode (for one of the gamemodes, on one of the maps) against bots. Aside from that, it's all MP-only.

I used Rocketdock before but I thought it was too much of a resource hog. I wanted something similar to the MSOffice 95(?) toolbar that was discontinued, and I found Blanch, which I luvs.

I'm a Mac user of Steam, only having dabbled with it on the Windows side briefly, and have been enjoying Portal. I haven't noticed any performance issues on my 2009 Mac mini, but then Portal obviously isn't too taxing on the hardware. I've also got Torchlight and it plays great too. I own Team Fortress 2 on Steam (that's what I briefly dabbled with), so I'm anxious to get a chance to try that out more extensively on the Mac side once they release it. I suppose I might run into performance issues there, but hopefully not.

I also picked up the Indie Bundle but haven't really played any of those games much yet.

EDIT: though Steam itself is a bit buggy and I've had some crashes of Steam (not a game yet, just Steam). The in-game Steam overlay feature isn't working at all for me - pressing shift-tab does nothing at all in spite of the invitation to do so at the start of every game.

If you don't have issues running Portal, TF2 shouldn't be too bad. There are more players on screen/things going on at once, but it's still the same engine that's been optimized very well.
Altitude is free this weekend and its pretty damn addicting! Anyone else try it?
I DL'ed it and will probably try some out this weekend. I heard good things about it when it was on sale for $2. Should have picked it up then but I didn't because I though "I probably won't play it anyway so why waste $2?"

I played it for like 10 minutes then deleted all local content. It came out in December and doesnt natively support widescreen... /facepalm

Looks like crap at 1920x1200, is buggy (sounds constantly disappears), and isn't that fun.

A few ppl I know had problems with the widescreen support also.

is it meant to be played in a window maybe?
is it meant to be played in a window maybe?
When the game is launched, it's full-screen. Most games that I've played that are meant to be in windowed mode, start in windowed mode.

So, for the longest time I've had a bunch of gifts that never got accepted for some reason or another. Would anyone be interested in either of these? Send me a PM if so, willing to let go of them at the sale price.

Rockstar Collection - I think it was $42.49, just purchased a few weeks ago.
Shattered Horizon - Maybe $5, I don't remember. I got it around Christmas my computer could never run it.

Man, if I knew Civ 4 will be Steamplay, I would have brought that $10 bundle, but now it's too late. I guess I'll stick with Torchlight for the time being. Thank goodness for cloud.

I'll probably grab Tropico 3 while I'm at it.

Steam kind of dropped the ball on Civ 4 because if you bought it BEFORE steam play came out, you don't get the mac version.

Also, @ sega classics I'll be in for Dreamcast ports if they make them.

lol

As for Sega Classics, it looks to mostly be stuff from that Sonic collection released not to long ago on the Xbox and PS3. If that's the case, I'll pass on all of them.

Global Agend 25% off, $30. I enjoyed my time with it but the endgame content seemed very weak. I'll probably pick it back up again once they get passed their early MMO growing pains.

I jumped into the demo a week or so ago and ive really enjoyed it. at $20 id go for it, $30 leaves me doubtful.

Bioshock is 20% off, 39.99 euro/dollar depeding on where you live :p
But it seems like thats for a single copy only and the 4pack doesnt seem to have 20%

That is cool, Sega classics $2.99! But they really need to implement multi-player for them. What made a lot of those side scrolling beat them ups fun was playing with a friend.
Is the free portal link gone? I guess I just missed it. I saw it this afternoon but was unable to down load it until now.
Yeah, the promotion ended today, Monday May 24. Usually they take down the promotion, sales, or whatever is going on around the afternoon (sometimes early, sometimes late) PST

Kotaku reports that Magic: The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers (the XBLA game) is coming to Steam with Steam Achievements & online play, for $10. It's not available for preorder yet though. The XBLA game is easy to play and quite fun.

I'll probably pick up Duels of the Planeswalkers. I seriously have not played Magic since middle school, so, it should be a fun nostalgia-bomb. And $10 is, what, the price of two or three booster packs now? Not half-bad. As I mentioned before regarding this game, though, there is a lot of DLC listed, so, I hope that stuff doesn't get too pricey with all that.

Ooooo, that looks pretty cool. My friend got me a starter deck and a booster pack last year and I've recently started playing with the clients at the group home I work at. Unfortunately, they're the only people I play with since my friends in town aren't interested whatsoever. So this will be a nice alternative when I'm not at work.

But yeah, like Coffee said, hopefully the DLC doesn't get too out of hand. But it can't be anywjere near as bad as Railworks. I mean, Jesus Christ.

Just be careful....I thought the same thing with the XBLA version last year and ended up spending like $500 on actual cards.....

MTG: Duels is pretty great, just be aware that there is virtually NO customization in the game outside of unlocking 16 or so cards, and deciding whether or not you want to add them into your premade deck. This was my biggest letdown with the game as they didn't have a deck editor that let you make whatever deck you wanted out of a certain block as the old Win95 Planeswalkers did.

Check this out if you need a good MTG fix, especially if you were a fan of the original release. It actually runs fairly well, even under Win7. :)
bah LucasArts Adventure Pack for Midweek Madness $4.99

Majesty 2 also on sale for $7.50

Looks like I get to save some money :D
Not that you asked, but I have to say that Majesty 2 is disappointing compared to Majesty 1 (great game). $7.50 is pretty cheap, and no idea if it'll be cheaper, but it seems like more of a $5 (or less) purchase to me now that I've gone through most of it (most, because the level I'm stuck on now is stupidly difficult, in an unfair way), so thought I'd give you a heads-up...

Although $2.50 more isn't exactly a deal breaker, if you're like me, with a ton of games already bought in previous steam deals that are currently on backlog, you'll be better off saving the cash and waiting for an ultra-cheap price imo :)

Ugh. I don't need any more games, but that Lucas Arts Adventure Pack is a steal, especially since I had considered picking up The Dig anyway. Buy 1 get 3 free? YES PLEASE.

I might have to snag that too. I used to play Magic Online back when they had leagues, but since those went away with v3 I haven't played. Whenever I get the Magic bug I usually just play Magic Online with the free trial decks so I don't have to worry about deck building or getting destroyed. Duels of the Planeswalker might be another good way to scratch that itch, if it isn't too simplistic.

So there's no deck customization? Then how do decks work? Does everybody just get the same huge deck or are there a bunch of premade decks that you choose from? Slightly less enthused now...

There's a bunch of premade decks. Playing single-player with a deck unlocks extra cards that you can choose to add to that deck. More deck customization would be nice, but it's still a blast to play.
Episode Three keeps losing his invite.
I thought he just didn't understand them since valve time is incomprehensible. I mean, when are you supposed to show up when it says

TIME: Today, or maybe tomorrow next-weekish.

I went ahead and bought global agenda. if anybody plays let me know ive been playing for an hour or two the last few nights.
really enjoying it.
Don't forget that HL2 and ep1 got ep2 graphics with the update, now might be a good time to play HL2 over again.
They did? I knew they had gotten achievements and steam cloud (which is super awesome in itself), but didn't know that! Looks like I'll be playing through them again in the next little bit.
