The Steam discussion topic! Joy and happiness, right here, folks.
The main problem with the question was he asked how does he get it to work with Steam games which is an extremely broad question as there are over a thousand games on Steam. If he meant Valve games, that's a much easier answer because it's far more specific.

But don't let me bring logic in to nerd raging, that ruins all the fun.
Maybe you didn't read the question, so here it is again.

Can somebody tell me how I can get my 360 controller to play my steam games? I am running Vista and I have the 360 usb attachment for windows. Are there only some games that support the controller? Why can't I figure this out?

Your problem with the question was already addressed in the question.

Regardless of the nature of the question, whether it's Steam specific or not, if you guys really had such a big issue with it, report it using the little button and get a mod or move it or delete it. It's not a big issue and his question has already been answered.

HAY GUISE, HOW DOES I STEAM?

Anyone who puts together a 20+ page resource thread about free PC games is pretty much the opposite of useless.

I have a 360 pad for PC and was planning to get the Steam version of Ass Creed II, but I read somewhere it needs a user-made patch to properly use the gamepad. That, and it's $60, I guess because it includes 3 hours of add-on content that I probably don't want anyway.

So... I just bought the PS3 version for $20 instead.

I had naively assumed the gamepad would work with whatever.

I can vouch for playing plenty, what have you done for the community?

Has Valve ever said what would happen with the games people have bought if they shut down Steam some day? I know it's unlikely anytime soon, but will they allow you to backup your games to DVD or something? I'm a little leery of amassing a huge catalog of games on the platform like I did with Xbox.

The Steam name alone has a lot of value. I'm sure if Valve ever ran into fiscal trouble, they would have no problem selling it. Now what a different owner would do with it is what I would be worried about.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Defense Drid: The Awakening as a special here pretty soon. They've released the Resurgence Map pack for $0.99.

Whatever happened to their plan for co-op being patched in?
There were co-op plans? I don't remember hearing about that...
I must be mistaken, I could have sworn they said something about multiplayer.

There was a rumor of Defense Grid multiplayer for a long time - I think an Achievement or file somewhere in the game mentioned it, so everyone thought it would come to pass eventually. It's a shame that it hasn't, because multiplayer is the only thing Defense Grid really lacks.

This was just released yesterday and it looks pretty interesting. Not sure how in-depth the skills go per hero and I don't think it's got quite as much loot as Diablo/Titan Quest/Torchlight. But I'll keep my eye on it and might eventually pick it up for $5-$10.

Numen: Contest of Heroes

ss_c02af22a56e955670af4df98dac569c3f614b39d.1920x1080.jpg

Nine deities. Nine heroes. And only one champion. Mythical Greece. The land of gods, poets, heroes, but also of terrible monsters and creatures.

Numen is a fully three-dimensional action RPG set in mythical Greece. The player controls one of nine heroes, who in the name of the gods they follow compete in a grand test of their capabilities. Heroes who undertake a pilgrimage over the highest mountains, through valleys and deep forests, underground vaults and the scorched sand of deserts.

Numen however is no mere hack-and-slash game. It offers the player the possibility of tactical decision making, searching for enemies’ weak spots, selection of adequate weapons. It rewards those who are able to adapt to the changing situation on the battlefield. In this the player is helped by the unique powers and abilities invested in him or her by the god he or she follows, provided that the god is happy with him or her. The Olympian gods, after all, are renowned for their wanton and unpredictable nature…

 • Action RPG with strong and intriguing storyline and surprising plot turns.
 • Detailed 3D design with state-of-the-art visual effects.
 • The game world based on the Greek mythology comprises of tens of locations situated on 12 islands with both exteriors and underground labyrinths.
 • Many extensive main story and side quests.
 • Select your hero‘s gender, his or her specialization out of three possibilities and one of nine deities for him or her to worship.
 • Plenty of unique weapons, armors and items, more than 80 spells and abilities.
 • Arena duels, training combats and tournaments.
I do not advise anyone buy Supreme Commander 2 even for $11 as the weekend deal, it is not worth it!
your reason?
your reason?
It is consolized crap. It is nothing like the original SC that was great. It is just a cookie cutter RTS.

Numen does look pretty good IMO. Still, gonna have to hold off due to having a shitton of pc games that I have barely touched atm. Torchlight, The Witcher, Titan Quest, Legend- Hand of God, and Fate..... I am a sucker for hack n slash rpgs.

Sadly my Torchlight was a retail copy so I dont get steam achievements...

So anyone else pre-purchase Magic The Gathering for Steam? Sad thing is I already grabbed it on the 360 lol but hey def nice to get the first expansion free though (still haven't picked it up for 360 that is).

Awesome, I'll pay $4 for 8 new levels. I loved the original, plus already got some free dlc a couple months ago with the 4 levels of Defense Grid: Borderlands.

Eversion is now available on Steam for $4.49 (regular price is $4.99). It's an indie platformer from Zaratustra Productions. The game supports controllers (though the default Xbox 360 controller button mapping is lame) and has Steam Achievements.

Graphically it looks like a Turbografx-16 game (though the parallax scrolling is much nicer), with some cool Yoshi's Island-like special effects every now and then.

The premise is that you're trying to rescue the kidnapped princess. The game's twist is that there are multiple dimensions that you can switch between. (The word eversion means to twist inside-out.) Things start out happy and pretty but as you jump between dimensions, it gets darker and more twisted. Different obstacles and platforms appear in each dimension, so there's a puzzle aspect as you try to clear the level or collect all the gems to unlock the last level. There are two endings: one for finishing World 7 without collecting all gems and the true ending for completing World 8.

If you like platform or indie games, it's worth a shot.

That game is still freeware though...Well good luck to the developer :)

He redid the graphics and other stuff for the Steam version. The free one is basically the equivalent of 8-bit graphics while the Steam game is 16-bit.

It really is significantly better.

No it isn't. As mentioned, the original version is freeware, but the version on Steam is the remake.

They are both the same. The only new feature of that game is that the STEAM version is in HD.

At least that's what the DEVELOPERS site stated. Even the new music can be dl'ed and installed into the original version.

If you're that broke and don't care about graphics, download the old game. But the remake is better, and Achievements are always nice. And nobody cares about your thread. :p

No my friend. Unlike you I just have a high standard by which I make my purchases. Feel free to buy free stuff if you like though...Kilm-lite. ;)

Uh, yeah, which =/= same. Graphics are part of a game package, ya know. Also, it has achievements, and time attack leaderboards, which adds a whole new layer of stuff to do in the game.

Dude, we get it. We've all seen your 400-pixel tall signature. You love freeware and pretty much refuse to pay for PC games, and you try to advocate this or whatever. We know about your thread, where you link to every piece of shit freeware game and fangame you can find.

That's all well and good, but you really need to not be such a douche about it, or towards people who aren't such zealots about freeware.

You value this inherent joy you get out of not paying for a game, more than you care about it's actual quality or how fun it is. And that's fine, because that's what you value. But you can't expect people to understand this, when you belittle people for being willing to spend a couple bucks for a game to look better, have some small value-extending features, and to support the developer.

1) I don't agree.

2) How exactly was I a douche bag - The person I was responded to made a j/k comment and responded with a j/k comment.

Why is this such a serious topic for some of you?

Everyone really needs to lighten up.

Well, in megazell's defense, the place is called Cheap Ass gamer, and its good to know there are some decent Freeware games...although, admittedly I haven't tried a single one of these free games, having blown my cash since christmas on half the steam deals racking up a ton of games, even though all I ever seem to play these days is TF2...
1) I don't agree.
You don't agree that they aren't the same? Sorry, but reality doesn't give you that leeway. You can't say they are the same, any more than you can say that this picture is the same as this one.

You can disagree that it's worth $5, but not that it isn't the same.

Amazed no one has posted this yet, Global Agenda received a huge update last week. More can be found here.

Pretty excited, haven't touched the game in a while and I think I'll get back in to it for a bit. Don't think I'll ever subscribe though while I still play WoW.

The content of the actual game is the same though. Including the ending(s). So to me that makes it the same game. Sure it's prettier but still the same outcome and gameplay.

I'm not opposed to maintaining a thread that lists free games. However, Megazell also has an agenda of trying to talk people out of buying games. That is douchey.

Megazell, if you don't want to buy Eversion on Steam that's fine. After all, your motto is not to buy games. But some people obviously would be interested in the remake of the game (over 100 buyers since the game's debut yesterday), and you don't need to push your anti-buying agenda any further than you have. As CoffeeEdge pointed out, the obnoxiously giant signature is plenty.

You asked how you were being douchey. Maybe you really didn't know (which I don't believe). I'll show you how a person who was not trying to start an argument would have responded to my impressions of the game.

Non-jerk:
Just keep in mind that there's also a free version of this game too.

EastX:
That's true, but this version has nicer graphics and other improvements.

Non-jerk:
Oh yeah, so it does. But I don't really care about graphics, so I'm fine with the free version.

Skipped:
Tons of arguing and me and CoffeeEdge pointing out the obvious repeatedly.

Oh, I also forgot that there's a new ending for the Steam version. I haven't quite gotten it yet, but it's there.

How big is his signature? CoffeeEdge said 400 pixels high? I might just report him just for the hell of it.

As for my anti-buying agenda - That's only for me. I never advocated for other to do the same. Some of you guys/gals/trannies are giving me too much credit.

As I stated before. I wish the developer the best of luck the freeware version was awesome.

No, you really do actively try to talk people out of buying PC games. I'm not going to waste time stalking your post history for evidence unless I really have to, but really, what you do is not too far removed from:
Random CAG: "Hey guys anyone know a good deal on Modern Warfare 2 PC?"
Megazell: "Check my Free and Legal PC Gaming Thread, 900+ FREE games and counting! Get Nexuiz, it's free and then you won't need MW2 anymore! It's free or fuck it!"

You can really be kind of a dick about it, man.

It has a new, third ending.

Incorrect. I make sure that my post are in the appropriate places. If someone ask for some good RTS, FPS or what not, I do/will recommend some from the list along with FORMER retail games. Not sure if you are lying or just paraphrasing but either way you are incorrect.

You can stalk my post all you like but this will be last post on this because it's getting sad. The hostility is misplaced and wasted because I am still going do what I am going to do. My list is like a heads up on what's out there that I have found. Which is more like a supplement to choices PC Gamers got.

There were 3 endings in the original...You mean 4 endings? NVM, though I really don't want to spoil the game for anyone.

Your list is a heads-up to those who want to play shitty games. 99% of the stuff in there is fucking trash that you get a boner over just because it's free.

CoffeeEdge isn't the only one who has noticed your constant shilling of your lame thread.

Haven't played many, you mean?

They're really shitty games, dude. You'll get a gem like Cave Story every 100+ games or so, which makes ~99% of those games shitty, and that's still being generous.
