World War 3? 1996 or 1997, I think.
Speaking of that PPV, I always wondered why the out-and-proud superliberal Ted Turner would allow a wrestling company under his watch to name a PPV "World War 3."
That DX/Legacy segment was hot fire. Did a helluva job of selling the pay per view, IMO, by making DX seem beatable. This is vastly different from dropping poo all over the spirit squad. Will DX win at SS? Sure - but they're supposed to; so what if they do? The point is to get both teams over, and this segment made Legacy look legitimate.
Don West got canned? Boo - I couldn't stand him for the longest time, but I've really enjoyed seeing a genuine "heel" announcer on a wrestling show. His quips were pretty clever at times - especially when directed at Tenay. I felt like the writing was on the wall when they hired the Human Smorgasbord Machine Taz, though.
