Knockouts Tag Titles. Probably a good idea considering how many women they have, and you know, a man holding the Knockouts belt. I Wonder if Raisha/Alyssa are both going to be in the tournament.

As many womens tag matches as the wwe have on SD, you'd think they would have added some womens tag titles by now.

Hopefully they don't allow CD to keep the knochout title. It looks too much like a wwe/santino rip-off, plus it just seems too silly.

damn is it just me or did The Pope look awesome in the ring tonight. I could picture the world strap on him. All of his moves looked so real

I wonder if TNA just didn't want to have a character called The Black Pope, or Burke trademarked that name. Still wearing boots with B and P on them regardless.

Impact should be real interesting since Dixie Carter is suppose to be telling us about Lashley so they probably won't say anything about Kurt.

I love how EY is American and has teamed up with World Elite and how they are trying to recruit Hernandez.

EY is Canadian.

I loved AJ on Wildside, but on a national basis, he's definitely a TNA homegrown guy - and that's including the WWA, which had national PPV clearance, but didn't have anywhere near the exposure that TNA has.

Onto Impact -

This was a fine little show. Pope-Creed was good, and firmly established Dinero as a threat in the X division. I like the idea of a Dinero-Suicide feud, and I'm kind of happy that TNA isn't acknowledging Burke's WWE past. It's a welcome change of pace from OMG THIS GUY WAS A HUGE DEAL 10 YEARS AGO!, although it does seem odd as a result of that. The Guns' skit ruled and was the next best thing to them actually having a match on the show - way better than just having them in the crowd for one second and then getting TO THE BACK'd.

The bit with Deaner and Foley was amusing, although I wish that they would have just announced that ODB gets to keep the belt since they announced a knockouts tag division, which would benefit greatly from, well KNOCKOUTS TEAMS, but also a serious core division. I'm all for more knockouts stuff, but this sub-division seems poorly-conceived as there are no actual teams within the division, and they already can't get their existing belts over - why add more? Counting the IWGP Titles, this will make THREE SETS OF TAG CHAMPIONS for one show. That's crazy.

Joe-Cide was great, and I enjoyed it more than their PPV match. Taz added a lot on commentary, and I especially liked him asking Tenay to remind him to get his towel back from Joe. The abrupt end of their angle hurts things a bit, and it was odd for Taz to say that Joe is on his own when the show-opening video said he was in the mafia. Then again, that thing also said they won ALL THE GOLD...and yet brought up the deal with the knockouts title.

The AJ retirement deal was just stupid. For one thing, he hasn't been around long enough to really warrant a ton of sympathy for a retirement angle. Plus, it's stupid to do such a thing when the company is full of guys who are a lot older than him and who have gone through worse than just a losing streak - so AJ just comes off as a whiner. Then he cried, then Sting came out, looked old with his salt and pepper soul patch, talked about PASSING THE TORCH~! (no doubt at BFG with AJ being conflicted about putting away his idol, probably leading to TWO STYLES CLASHES being needed to win the match and an "I'm sorry Sting, I love you!" ending) and then Sting can ride off into the sunset amid much pyro and ballyhoo!

The Beer Money-British Invasion opener was great - I loved the faces dressing the part while the heels just wore gear, and enjoyed even more having Beer Money sneak into the ring, even going so far as to not go through the tunnel, but blowing it by throwing a GIANT, LOUD TRASH CAN INTO THE RING forcing the Invasion to turn around to begin the match - thus negating any strategic advantage. Lots of good brawling in this, although I think that they kind of wasted a lot of stuff for this one TV match - the bag over the head, which 20 years ago was a huge deal, was just a spot here. Same kinda thing with the hanging of Storm, and the blood from both Roode and one of the Invasion dudes meant very little.

The main event tag tables match was...a match. Angle looks awful and needs to be doing anything but wrestling - there's no good reason to just have him as a PPV-only guy right now. It's not like he does anything for ratings in these matches, and his TV matches usually aren't great, so they just amount to him having below-par matches that take a toll on his body. Taz alternating between Bubba and Brother Ray on commentary was amusing, and I liked that for once, there wasn't a post-match angle after a main event. However, there was a large pre-match one which kind of negates the good done there, especially since it involved the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT OF DIXIE CARTER MAKING HER IMPACT DEBUT next week to make A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT. That oughta bring in...zero new viewers since no one cares who Dixie is, so there's no need to have here there, and all her on-air introduction seems to do is bring yet another authority figure on the show.

I really missed DW on the show - he would have made everything with TBP better, but Taz was also really good. I'd say that he was better here than he's been since about '05, although Tenay still drags the show down - showing, like there was much doubt, what the weak link in the broadcast team was. He was toned down a bit compared to the norm, which helped, but he's still impossible to take seriously.

Quotes -
(during a video package showing the Mafia NOT HAVING THE KNOCKOUTS BELT)Ad Guy - WHAT WILL BE THE FALLOUT NOW THAT THE MAFIA HOLDS ALL THE GOLD!?
Tenay - We wish Don the best in his new endeavor. Let me introduce you to my new broadcast partner - YES, THE FORMER MULTI-TIME WORLD CHAMPION WRESTLER, THE MAN WHO IS THE MENTOR TO SAMOA JOE, HE IS ABOUT TO RETURN TO WHAT HE DOES BEST!
Tenay - I DON’T THINK THAT BRUTUS AND WILLIAMS HAVE ANY IDEA THAT BEER MONEY IS SNEAKING UP FROM BEHIND (Storm then throws a trash can into the ring, making a loud noise, and forcing them to turn around)
Tenay - STORM IS HANGING BY HIS ESOPHAUGOUS! AND THEY HAVE A…PAPER BAG READY! (a shot of a plastic bag is shown to be used on Roode) IF I CAN THROW OUT A DISCLAIMER - DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME!
Velvet - Miss Madison - you are no longer a VIP - you’re just a P without the VI! TBP made you and we can break you!
Deaner - THAT BELT IS THE PROPERTY OF CODE “KING OF THE KNOCKOUTS” DEANER!
Foley - How can a guy be king of the knockouts?
JB - Yeah, it’d be like someone thinking NASCAR’s a real sport! (Deaner properly adjusts his cap to show rage)
Foley - Hey, Dick Trickle is an athlete!
JB - And a personal friend!
(after using a white board)Deaner - WHEN YOU ASSUME, YOU MAKE AN ASS - that’s the dookie coming out! OUT OF U AND ME!
Foley - He’s got a point - I read that on a t-shirt somewhere.
Shelley - We have a special offer for you, the fans of the Motor City Machine Guns. We are offering our services…to you!
Sabin - For a low, low price…
Shelley - OF $2,000 PER HOUR! We can do it all! Play video games, throw a Frisbee around - I’ve seen District 9, but I’ll see it again, and we’re also more than happy to just sit around and bleed your bank account dry!
Sabin - But you’re not that kinda person, and if you don’t like physical activity, we would be more than happy to sit on your couch watching Metalocalypse while you make us dinner. We would do that for you.
Shelley - Call this number, and we’ll even throw in a free Shamwow!
Taz - Remind me to get my towel back from Joe! Hehe
Taz - I GOT JOE TO THE PROMISED LAND! HE’S THE NEW X DIVISION CHAMPION, BUT NOW HE’S IN THE JUNGLE ON HIS OWN!
Tenay - THE SUCCESS OF THE KNOCKOUTS DIVISION IS THE IMPETUS FOR CREATING KNOCKOUTS TAG TEAM TITLES!
Lashley - Next week, Dixie Carter will make her TNA Impact debut! And she’ll be here to let everyone know what Bobby Lashley’s role will be in TNA!
Tenay - I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THAT! WOULD YOU MIND JOINING US FOR COMMENTARY!?
Taz - Sure you don’t have something else to do?
Taz - Matt noticed that Bubba was going to get the table.

Ok, yeah, it's tonight's.

As I said, I don't watch SD. I haven't seen Hart Dynasty come out. I heard the infamous Bret Hart theme opening and I was like "what?!".. damn.

TNA has a world title, a legends title, an X-Division title, a Knockouts title, TNA tag belts, IWGP tag belts, and now Knockouts tag belts. That's 10 belts for a roster of about 30. Ridiculous.

I really liked last night's iMPACT!

Kurt Angle looked like he contracted a mean case of The AIDS, though.

That was one awesome show from start to finish right there. Perfect stuff with the Hardys tonight - they set Matt up nicely to fill Jeff's shoes by having him beat Punk tonight, and the pre-match interview apologizing for what he did to Jeff was good. I liked that he didn't try to defend them, and seemed ashamed of what he had done - a key to an effective face turn, especially at a main event level.

Matt could finally get the break he's deserved for a long time - a true chance at the main event. Tonight showed that with one night of great work, you really can get someone over as a main eventer. Hopefully they do the same with Morrison at some point, because he really needs some help as far as being taken as a main event-level act. With Matt, it's a bit easier because the fans care about him and have for years - they don't have that emotional investment in Morrison yet, nor has WWE given fans much of a reason to develop one yet.

Breaking it all down, this was an effective night of in-ring action - even the women's tag was decent, and I actually liked some of what McCool said on commentary. The opening six-man showed me that Rey and JTG have way more chemistry in the ring than JTG and Shad, and that Dolph just might lose on Sunday since he won here. Granted, it was by a fluke, but I fear they'll have him lose for parity booking's sake, which would definitely kill any momentum he's built up. All six guys played their roles perfectly - and I loved the finish, with Show hitting a drive-by punch to KO Rey. It got that over as a finisher for the tag title match, gave Dolph the chance to show fans that he could pin Rey, and didn't hurt Rey since it was a cheap shot by a guy who outweighs him by over 300 pounds. Perfect stuff.

I liked Kane's promo a lot - it was one of his better ones since they didn't sprinkle it with wacky phrase after phrase that no human on Earth would ever actually say, and his delivery was so good that it actually made me want to see him face Khali to brutalize this man and show that he is the dominant giant on SD. Why Show has no problem with this statement, I have no idea, but I also have no desire to see another 90-minute dual choke-filled Kane-Show match, so I hope they don't explore that aspect of things too much.

Knox's cerebral brute character, however, is one I hope they do more with. The pre-match promo with the slicked-back look was amusing - although I wish it was full-screen since that was such a big change for him, and really didn't come across all that well in the postage stamp-sized window they showed it in. Finlay-Knox itself was good, stiff action with Knox pounding Finlay with forearms, kicks, and anything else that looked like it could cause serious harm before breaking out the steps, grinning, frightening a girl in the front row, and then thwacking Finlay with them. Greatness.

The Jeff-Punk promo segment was damn near perfect. It gave Jeff a fantastic send-off for the fans, he cut the best promo of his career, the whole scene looked awesome with the whole ringside area being filled with ladders, and then Punk came out, spoiled his fun, threatened to end his career, and vowed that he had to do it to rid the fans of this negative influence on their lives. And that since he was straight edge, he was, in fact, better than all of us. I love this program and wish that it would never end.

The main event was a lot of fun. Punk wearing the Hart Dynasty's colors AND breaking out half a dozen Waltman-esque snap legdrops in the main event was great and everyone gelled perfectly in this match. They tried to get the Hart Dynasty over as top contenders, but I think they'll have a hard time doing that with Smith - Kidd seems to be on the rise though, and is definitely the star of the team. The Hardys coming out to their old theme was a nice throwback, and it was clearly an emotional match for them because it was their last match together for the foreseeable future.

Jeff appearing to be close to tears after the match was touching. He's been on such a roll since coming back a few years ago, and I never could have imagined he'd soar to the heights he has given how far he fall. The guy went from being an addict booed out of ROH show, to going through the motions in TNA, to then experiencing a career resurrection in WWE. I don't think anyone expected his run to even last three years - let alone see him become a multiple-time world champion and one of the top draws in the company.

Quotes -
J.R. - I’ve said before that if Dolph was a stock, I’d be buying it. I still would.
Grisham - His price would be higher than ever if he wins the IC title on Sunday.
Grisham - Cryme Tyme is all up in Jericho’s grill!
Grisham - THE BIG SHOW’S CHEST IS FIVE-FEET AROUND!
Grisham - There are a lot of egos in Hollywood - Jericho will be right at home on Sunday!
Josh - After the dark chapter between you and your brother, it would appear that you’ve had a change of heart. Have you.
Matt - I’ve always looked after him - if anyone wanted to push im around, then they knew they were facing me.
Josh - You spent much of 2009 making sure he didn’t come anywhere near the title…
Matt - It’s really hard going from being the bigger brother, to seeing your younger brother become the world champion. When that happens, there’s a competitive nasty nature, and for me, it created a turmoil in my head. Some make mistakes - that was the biggest mistake I ever made in my life. I don’t know if I can forgive myself, but one thing I can take comfort in is that Jeff is willing to forgive me. So tonight, we’re gonna do what Jeff said earlier - we’re gonna move on. Tonight, nothing is gonna feel better than standing in the ring alongside my brother. Tonight, the Hardys will ride again!
Kane - Last week, I proved that there is only one dominant giant on SD - and his name isn’t Khali. The fear that I instilled into the heart of his pathetic brother is the mark of a true monster. Khali has never been a monster. I saw that look as I left him lying face-down and helpless - it was a look that required no translation. It was weakness! The source of weakness is obvious - Khali has compassion. Emotion. He actually cares! He cares while I detest. At Summerslam, I will put an end to myth of the Great Khali once and for all! Khali, I’ve never been afraid of you. But you had better be afraid of me!
(with a neatly-tied beard and glasses)Knox - Finlay, you have fear paralysis reflex. It makes it impossible to move. Don’t worry - I’ll move you.
J.R. - I bet that Knox was a blast in biology class. I imagine him dissecting a frog and enjoying it!
J.R. - Knox seems to be a very complex individual - we don’t know a lot about that area of his life!
J.R. - Knox moves well for a big man - he’s not a plodder!
J.R. - Knox with a wise move - knocking the shillelagh off of the apron.
J.R. - KNOX IS IN THE MOUNT POSITION RAINING DOWN FOREARMS ON FINLAY!
J.R. - Jeff Hardy defies SUPERSTITION by walking under the ladder, and I know guys who wouldn’t walk under one for $100 cash.
Grisham - Cash?
J.R. - CASH MONEY!
J.R. - A thrill ride with a pulse is our world champion!
Jeff - I’m pleased to say that me and my brother are at peace. And you know the Hardys made the TLC match famous. But ya know, sometimes in life, it’s not fair. You’re dealt a hand that’s really hard to play. Last week, I was dealt that hand. My doctor said it would be in my best interest to not compete…I’m 31 years old and their advice is that I should retire before it’s too late. I’VE NEVER BEEN ONE TO FOLLOW THE DOCTOR’S ORDERS, AND KANSAS CITY, I DON’T PLAN ON STARTING NOW! CM Punk, when you’re up here there’s no time to think, no time to plan - and the space between the top of this ladder and the ground, is mine! The sound of tables breaking - I LOVE! And steel chairs clashing with humanity is a song I wrote long ago and it still rings a bell! It’s gonna take a lot more than a steel chair to stop me from beating you in TLC!
Punk - Hey Jeff. Aren’t you nervous being way up there, so…high! Especially in the condition you’re in - and by that I mean you’re probably drunk right now - just like all these people here tonight! That’s something to be proud of! You’d have to be under the influence to believe this LIVE IN THE MOMENT CRAP! What’s it gotten you? A night in the hosptial? For what - these people? One brief moment of attention? I don’t know what’s more pathetic - all of these people hanging on your word - or you and your egotistical addiction to their cheers and support! Listen - they actually believe that you can beat me at Summerslam! Teddy said that TLC is Jeff’s match - they’re right, it is your match. This TLC is your last match! I know what I have to accomplish to get everything I want - when I beat you and take back MY world title, it will validate everything I’ve said - that straight edge is the right way. That straight edge means I’M BETTER THAN YOU! Jeff, I have tgo get rid of you to teach these people the difference between right and wrong. To teach them to just say know. So they’ll stop living in your moment and start living in my reality! Make no mistake about it - there’s no turning back from this point on. From here on out - there’s nothing left. At Summerslam, I will hurt you. And I will remove you and the stain of all of your bad examples from the WWE forever!
Jeff - You can’t destroy me or what I’ve created over my 10 years here. KC isn’t gonna listen to you! You won’t beat me at Summerslam, Punk - I will prove that I’m better than you in my specialty - TLC!
Punk - You wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them - you need them to justify your reckless beharvior, just like they need you to justify their reckless behavior with their drinking, smoking, and use of prescription medications - they try to live vicariously through a man who thinks that by way of his lifestyle thinks he can fly!
Jeff - I don’t think I can - MY SPIRIT KNOWS I CAN!
Punk - LET’S FIND OUT! (tips over ladder)
McCool - The only thing worse than Maria’s athleticism is that outfit she’s got on.
(during the divas tag match)J.R. - If this was Jeopardy - we’d do great with all these vowels.
McCool - And they wouldn’t know the answers.
Grisham - Isn’t that Wheel of Fortune?
J.R. - Todd - game show master.
J.R. - Look at the bend in the body of Melina!
McCool - All she has is flexibility!
Grisham - Did you know that Kansas City has more fountains than any other city!?
J.R. - I did not know that. Stimulating.
J.R. - Tyson Kidd is so fundamentally sound. I might pass on the haircuit, but that’s another issue.
J.R. - Front chancre - front facelock, if you weeeellll.
Grisham - MATT HARDY JUST PINNED THE NUMBER 1 CONTENDER!

Why am I watching AWA Wrestling on ESPN Classic right now with Scott Hall & Curt Henning from 1986. This is crazy how they looked way back then.

http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/wrestling/blog/2009/08/qa_with_chris_jericho_2.html

When you were in WCW, it seemed as if the guys at the top were reluctant to work with and elevate guys who had potential such as yourself. Now that you are in the position of being a top guy, did what you experienced in WCW influence how you approach working with younger guys?

It wasn’t reluctance; it was just denial. They just wouldn’t do it and it [ticked] me off so much because there was a lot of money left on the table. It’s something that I said that I would never do. We’re in a crisis period in WWE and we need to build new guys. When Shawn Michaels came back to Raw, he said, “Whose been built since I left?” On Smackdown we’ve built [John] Morrison and [Dolph] Ziggler and Cryme Tyme. The Intercontinetal title has been rebuilt now with Rey Mysterio. But I can’t tell you on Raw who has been built over the last six months. They better do it soon, because when this generation of performers is gone, who will replace them?

HAHAHAHAHAHA. You are going to ban me on a site that has a grand total of 3 post a day. Oooooo nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Please dont do so. That site has been dead since April 1st. The wrestling section hasn't had a post in 2 weeks.

What do you guys think about this tidbit from the WO.....

"Ken Anderson, who wrestled as Mr. Kennedy in WWE, will become a free agent within the next two weeks. He was released by WWE on May 29, so his 90-day noncompete clause will expire within that time. Anderson has already committed to working in Europe for the Nu Wrestling Evolution promotion from Sept. 24 to Oct. 3.
It's worth noting that Anderson's tour with NWE takes place right after a set of Impact tapings, and concludes right before another set of Impact tapings, which seems rather telling."

I posted a blog of my thoughts and I'm freaking stoked!

[quote name='Demolition Man']Who is this jobber again? Because none of us care.[/QUOTE]

He's some weirdo who has been e-stalking me across 2 different boards. He has issues.

Anyway, today was nuts. That XPW show was brutal in the best possible way. I got hit in the face with glass after a light tube explosion; the floor was a mess of glass, barbed wire and blood. There were people going through barbed wire tables, jumping off balconies... all kinds of crazy shit.

On the way to the Improv, I saw Christopher Daniels on the sidewalk (we were in the car) and said hey. He responded and gave us his trademark hand sign. Inside the Improv, we were surrounded by wrestlers from the XPW show, porn stars, Barry Blaustein of Beyond the Mat fame, former WWE writer Dave Lagana, and others. Brian Kendrick was there, too. We got to meet Colt Cabana and Joey Ryan after the show, plus the other comedians besides Foley. Foley and Cabana were great. Foley even had Craig Robinson come up and play the piano while Foley sung a song about people who have been featured in the "Bang My Wife" porn series.

All in all, a great day. Now on to WWE Fan Axxess and SummerSlam tomorrow!

I have been E stalking you? It's not that hard to recognize you online when you have the same sn for both sites with the same picture as yourself. Dont get mad at me, Hornswoggle.

Enjoy your time at Summerslam. Card looks to be pretty good, I just hope it delivers.

No wonder I couldn't find the thread: the title was changed.

Sadly, I think I'm gonna miss Summerslam tonight. I just moved into a new place and my net isn't hooked up yet (posting from the campus library). I trust I can rely on you guys for match results and such.
