Yep. Almost like the glory days of the crusierweight division in WCW.
It's even better than that, IMO. I love that the X-Division is portrayed as a different style of wrestling, rather than a weight division thing. The X guys fight people in the heavyweight scene all the time, and the outcome is never a sure thing.

Man, I hope Christian holds on to that belt for a good long time. I'd love to see a storyline with Christian's success in the world title scene paralleling Samoa Joe's success in the X-Division, eventually leading to a showdown between the two men.

Well, there was the homophobic spot with AMW during their match.

Despite that, which set off my "PC" sensors, I thought that AMW/Naturals was the match of the night. Great false finishes, The Naturals lost nothing by losing, and it was just a very good old school tag match. Too much with the run-in, and the run-in sucked because (1) it took too long and (2) Booby Roode was clearly not only well within the ref's peripheral vision, but standing three feet away from him! The end looked like the ref was willfully ignoring the other people in there; it looked *bad*. The rest of the match, however, was awesome. It reminded me of being 10 years old and watching the Rock n' Roll Express fight the Midnight Express to a double count out (no big name vs big name match ever had a finish on syndicated tv) on WCW Worldwide, or whatever it was called.

I saw that. That doesn't bother me that much because it isn't that much different from actual wrestling holds. It really bothers me when someone's boss enters a ring, pull down his trousers (britches where I live), and makes an employee literally kiss his ass.

Maybe in Shawn's mind the segment would somehow redeem him in the eyes of Bret, an admittance of all of the asskissing he had done in the past with Vince. I'm pretty confident that Shawn must have had some reason to go through with it, because with his tenure and standing he's one of the few guys who could have easily said no with little to no repercussion.

They are, I admit, very different. The AMW spot, at they very least, was contextually relevant in a wrestling match, and not a twenty-minute segment unto itself (not counting build-up time, which probably totalled in at another 10-15 minutes overall).

Who's ordering the TNA PPV tonight? My house is still in the dark ages (no digital cable, satellite, or PPV box), but if I had the means, I would definitely be ordering.

At least there's YouTube.

That'll be the place I watch it once someone loads it on there.

There's also certain sites that begin in "T" and end in "orrent" where you can get it ;). I don't feel like paying $30 to see only 3 matches I give a crap about.

Great PPV so far - right now its the 8 man tag team war match. The Internation X Division match was just amazing. Again.. great stuff.

I'd write more... but I'm watching the PPV. :D

I knew as soon as I heard about that match that it wouldn't live up to the standards set previously. Thankfully, the right man won, and now to other man can go on to challenging for the Heavyweight title.

Oh, and why the hell hasn't TNA done Abyss-Joe yet? Does Abyss not wanna job or something?

For anyone who cares, WWE.com has a Velocity match featuring MNM vs. London/Kendrick, and it's a really good match. I'm sure I don't need to tell you who won (it's Velocity), but the good thing is the ending leaves things open for a rematch. I'd love for the rematch to be at Mania, but it wouldn't bother me to see it on SNME, either.
Big Poppa Pump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was one sad looking steiner recliner. I wonder if goldberg is close to signing since they mentioned his name in the Samoa Joe interview.
Bah, very disappointing end to the Ultimate X match. I won't give anything away, but it was just too...simple.
Yeah it was. It should have went longer. They could of cut time from the main event/beat down.

Wow, a possible Sting-Scott Steiner match! That would be great, if this was 1992. TNA never ceases to amaze me, once you think they've accidentally booked themselves into a decent position, they do junk like this. Is there a single non-X Division heel who ISN'T a member of Jarrett's stupid little stable? Give me a break.

Just a few thoughts on the PPV. Was it just me, or was the ending eerily similar to the whole NWO-era of WCW? The main event was about as boring as can be...but I actually enjoyed the PPV as a whole. The Sting angle was played out pretty decently, the 4-man X Division match was great (match of the night, easily), Alex Shelley and Jay Lethal had a decent match, and Ultimate X had some good moments (too short and anticlimactic though). The 8-man tag wasn't really anything special, but I wasn't expecting a whole lot anyway. All in all, I was pretty pleased with my first TNA PPV, but it didn't really blow me away...hopefully Lockdown will be better :D

Go watch Against All Odds 2006.

I'm glad to read Steiner's back. He's one of the few big lugs who can't work very well anymore, but for some reason I really like him. For fuck's sake, it's not like Sting's put out any stellar wrestling matches since his feud with Ric Flair that led to so many 4-star Clash of the Champions and Great American Bash matches. Seriously, if you want to shit on Steiner, don't forget the other old bastard out there you bitches get googley-eyed for.

Besides, Steiner innovated a ton of moves early in his career. Very few people remember that, IMO, and although I'd not bet $5 he could pull off a Frankensteiner anymore, he deserves some credit. Besides, his interviews are awesome (that is, if you're the kind of person who thought Stevie Ray was a fantastic announcer).

I can understand why they have brought him in. I just hope it does what TNA/Spike thinks bringing him in can do, which is bring in new viewer's. I really wish spike would give them a 2hr time slot.

I'm not talking about your typical hardcore spotfest. In those situations, it doesn't make Abyss look any worse, when he's falling off tall things and getting pinned. But in a normal match (how many normal, non-hardcore singles matches had Abyss had recently anyways?), I doubt TNA "management" would want him to get pinned clean. Then again, a big buildup for Joe-Abyss, with Abyss getting in some convincing offense, and still losing to the Muscle Buster or choke, wouldn't diminish Abyss in any way.

And I'm not a big Sting guy anyways, and, when both were in their primes, I would have preferred to see Steiner over Sting. I am just not looking forward to Sting-Steiner. However, Lockdown IS the next PPV, so there could be a possible War Games style match between Sting, Killings, Rhino, and Team 3D against Jarrett, Steiner, AMW and Abyss. That might find a way to not suck.

For those that don't like the Big Bad Booty Daddy don't worry about it. He'll be around for about 2-3 months then he'll be gone. DDP, Nash, Hall, Waltman, etc., they all come and go very quickly. Steiner is next on the list. Don't sweat it, I'm not. BTW, did anybody notice his chest? I'm not talking about the Lesneresque tattoo, I'm talking about the way his chest looks like it's caved in. It looks like a circle was cut out of his chest taking out chunks of his pecs.

Here's a recent pictures of Scott Steiner.

You can tell his pecs are definitely smaller but the chainmail is covering what I was describing. His arms just look awful. He's dead in 10 years and that's very generous.

Thanks (kind of ;)) for the pic, Demo.

He was better as his own natural physique from the Varisty Club days. His hulked out steroid build is just damn unnatural.

I can't believe he's not dead already.

Over all i thought it was a good ppv as usual.. the x division stars shine as always....

the way sting came out was pretty cool and believable.....

For everyone that was wondering why the Ultimate X match seemed a little rushed here's why:

PWInsider.com is reporting that Samoa Joe suffered a temporary loss of vision
during the Ultimate X Match last night during the Destination X PPV. Several
minutes had to be shaved off of the match as it was originally planned to go
close to 20 minutes with a bigger finish but with Joe not seeing well, the
planned finish would have been impossible.

"Jarrett makes the booty call"!?!?!?! Hmm.

At any rate,

Now that's a fancy dvd cover! They're also releasing Wrestlemania 9 and 10 in a double-dvd set sometime soon; keep in mind that, thus far, the European "WWE Tagged Classics" releases are unedited, from the music to the showing of logos and saying "WWF" on air. That makes it fairly nice to have, even if they are expensive (15 pounds, which is just under $26) and in a different DVD region than the US. I'd like to sell my WM box set and buy those instead.

Thanks for posting that; perhaps I haven't been giving TNA my full attention, but I wasn't positive if Sabu was still with them or not; now I can see he is.

pretty good card for the Detroit show. Hopefully things go well and they come out to visit more cities over the next few months
Meh... still on the fence about going. I'm dirt poor right now, yet I should be working full time in less than 2 months... there's that damn 2 hour drive, and the old horse-wagon ain't what she used to be... but it made the trip up here just fine. This is taking place in my own backyard too, plus SNME the night after, wargh. Samoa Joe's injury rumors could piss me off as well, plus no Raven & Jeff Hardy, and that's kind of disappointing.

Thinking... I'm gonna save the cash on this one, pity indeed, and wait until WWE has a better card to go to SNME and wait until TNA isn't having their show on St Patrick's day.

I just read Verne Gagne will be inducted to the HoF (I'm at school working on a paper, so I'm not watching Raw right now). That's pretty badass, and good for him to get some mainstream recognition since his last time in the public eye was the early-to-mid 1980's.

Sucks that Greg Gagne (Greg was to AWA what Triple J is to TNA) is inducting him; I bet he's all fat and middle-aged (well, I suppose I'm certain of the middle-aged part ;))
