I think I'll hold off on Paper Mario. TTYD was too slow for me, I'd imagine this would be the same. Even though I did enjoy Super Paper Mario because it was a bit faster paced and more platformer like, it felt like it was wearing a bit thin and I put it on hold near the end.
For what it is worth, I thought TTYD was slower than the first one. It may have just been that I was more excited about it or because I played it first (or because I used to be more patient), but it didn't seem to have the tedious parts that plague TTYD and SPM. I have been pretty disappointed with SPM, actually; I figured it would be much faster since it was purported to be part platformer, but it still feels slow like TTYD and the combat is not as interesting.
Just downloaded Paper Mario and I have a question, is it possible to do all the pressing the button at the right time stuff that you can do in TTYD.
Things like dodging your enemies attacks and making your own attacks stronger, I tried but couldn't do it. Maybe they only introduced that stuff in TTYD.
Anyone enlighten me ?
I think the only significant change in the combat was the addition of "stylish" moves. Well-timed button presses should still reduce the damage you take. Also, I seem to remember that you could use the A and B buttons to reduce damage in TTYD, where B was stronger but required more precise timing or something like that...I think that was new to TTYD.
