TRANSFORMERS: Dark of the Moon: BR Release 9/30/11!
It will never be uncool to hate on Transformers 2, it deserves it.
I thought it was an incredibly fun summer movie, easily rewatchable. There was some scenes I didn't like like Megan Fox staring at dead Shia in slow motion.

Or the old robot stuff, but really..it was just FUN.

I think this will raise the bar on that stuff.
Transformers 2 is better than Transformers 1.

And I'll probably see this sometime this week. I can honestly say I don't think too highly of myself to watch a fucking movie that's made for entertainment.
Well reviews are saying TF3 is definitely better than TF2.

I actually liked TF1 better though.

My problem with TF1 is that it was only half a Transformers movie since the first half of the movie was pretty much a teen drama that I didn't care for at all.

I do want to go to the 9pm showing personally, but around here it's 3D and I'd much rather see it in 2D.

How the fuck can a movie be fun?

Movie was to long for 3d. Lots of people complaining about headaches. Decent mindless movie. Towards the end you could drive a semi truck through the plot holes but lots of action. Transformer movie are what they are but this was better than t2 for sure. T1>t3>t2. Just don't go in expecting to watch a award winning movie. Btw did anyone stay until the end of the credits? I had to leave but I was wondering if they showed anything after/during the credits (I did see the extras right at the start of the credits)

Damn, I was wondering if there was anything post credits as well. I had a huge stomachache 3 minutes before the movie ended, but I still finished watching it..and then ran to the bathroom.

I loved the movie. It seems like they've given fans exactly what they wanted. And Rosie is MUCH MUCH better than Megan Fox, and hotter as well.

Fun to watch. Don't think too hard about it.

I Enjoyed it. Basically I kinda felt this was what Transformers 2 should've been originally. So really can go from Transformers 1 to just this and I'd be fine. Only complaint I have is the Shia parkour scene. It was so ridiculously stupid even if it was like 10 seconds long, but it was just stupid. As stupid if not more stupid then Shia swinging on vines with CG monkeys in Indy 4.
Showtimes at my location starts as early as 9 pm tonight, whoa!
That is the same thing they did with the first 2.

My wife and I wanted to see this but we have a newborn son so we will be waiting until it comes out on Blu.

Was lucky enough to see the 9pm showing last night. Better than the last one.. It did drag on longer than expected.
My thoughts
It feels like a LOT was cut from the final cut of the movie.
The john m. and hang over guy scenes were just really wierd and there parts were really out of place for this movie.
Shockwave wasnt as bad ass as i thought he would be..how the hell did the driller and him arrive in chicago? ????
Nemoy's voice for SP was ok. You could hear some Galvatron in him.
Did anyone pick up on the star trek spock ref line "the needs of the many..."?
I was hoping to see more from what i saw in the dc shoot but those scenes in the final cut made them very short.
Did not expect Megatron to destroy the statue like that...hmmm is that going to piss off somebody in dc?
The black antenna things i saw in dc were energon detectors..hmmm.
The dreds looked like predators...that was neat.
So cybertron is destroyed?
How the hell did the cons bring back all those pillars without being noticed?
Megatron seemed to have less screen time than before.
I wonder why he didnt repair himself between movies?
So megatron had a chance to kill carly but instead gave into the bitch line.
Megatrons shotgun weapon was badass though.
Although i knew SP was going to die...i really didnt expect OP to kill Megatron like that...the novel and gn said he pretty much gave up fighting and decided to leave with the rest of the cons...but wow Bay really wanted him dead.
I am glad Sams parents parts werent as dumb as the second one.
I do agreed that the kennedy and nixon scenes were done poorly.
The chicago scenes were pretty cool but dragged on for too long.
Bays plane makes a cameo hehhe.
Lazerbeak talks?
Where the hell was the us army during the invasion.
Guess bay had less military support on this movie than the last two. What a shame.
The movie just felt like it ended too soon after megatrons death.
We are left with too many unanswered questions than a conclusion to the series..
Overall its worth seeing again..need to see it in imax though for any imax scenes.

Man I really hope I get a chance to see it this weekend. Just too damned busy this week :(

To reiterate others' questions: Is there anything worth staying for after credits?

No, just one pretty lame scene early in the credits.

Since it's transformers, I pretty much was going to judge the film by how much transforming was going on. The second movie, after the opening sequence and Devastator, sucked big time in that regard. This movie, was much, much better. Bumblebee had a couple of jaw droppers, but I wish I hadn't seen them already in trailers. I do wish there were more fighting transformations, like the first movie when they first knock down the tank, or like Starscream and Blackout at the end of the first when they are transforming back and forth.

Even though the movie was pretty damn long, it certainly wasn't as bad as the suck vacuum in the middle of the second one. And there still wasn't enough time for all the robots; Most of the decepticons and the new autobots didn't get enough screen time for me.

The biggest issue I have is that certain parts of the movie just didn't seem to fit in with the rest; not sure if that's bad writing or editing:

The 2 minute Iranian scene; what the fuck was the point if only so they weren't with Optimus in Chernobyl?
The "mexican-standoff" end of the freeway chase - just seemed really silly in context. Could have just kept fighting with the same results at the end.
The scene with Sentinel and Optimus and the matrix, nice scene, just seemed like they were in the middle of nowhere.
Ironhide's death - no one speaks a word of it the whole movie? What the fuck? Not even a "poor Ironhide"? Where were Dino and Sideswipe, they should have been around. Where the hell was Optimus?
The "prisoner" scene - Uh, how the fuck did that happen? Since when do Decepticons take prisoners, and for what reason? Wasn't Sam and Lennox on Bumblebees hood 30 seconds ago?

Anyways, after the nitpicking I came away pretty happy, though aside from a few pretty good 3D scenes I didn't see the need to watch it again in 3D.

Dave

I'll admit I honestly didn't feel like seeing this, nor really wasn't expecting to like it because of the mixed reviews, and the fact I almsot fell asleep during the last Transformers 2 movie, but this film was actually a pretty fun/entertaining movie.

There were quite a few scenes I thought couldve been deleted, and maybe I thought it was a little too long (or because I was dragged to see it midnite), but hey Transformers is all about action, action, action and being entertained and I actually was very entertained and it was $$$ well spent.

You know I just thought of something in regards to the time line of events:

So basically before the events of TF1

-The Primes built a sun harvister on earth thosands of years ago.
-The Fallen was the original Decepticon whom Megatron followed his teachings.
-The All Spark Cube was launched into space so the con's couldn't get a hold of it...I'm thinking that the carbon dating line from TF1 was just wrong.
-Megatron goes after it by himself and crashes on earth where he is discovered by Sam's ancesitor.

So the All spark was sent to earth on purpose?

The con's damging the ship left it in a free spin for what? hundreds of years until it crashed on the moon in the 1960's?

Soundwave has been on earth longer than any con all this time manipulating humans? and he didn't care about finding out where Megatron was stored?

hmmm...

Where is Silverbolt or the Aerialbots?

So all the other cons are spread out throughout the globe still with a real leadership now that Soundwave, Megatron and Starscream have kick the bucket.

What really happened to the twins?...I'm curious

What were those little brain thingies running around with Megatron?

Didn't realize this was in 3D for IMAX, so this will mark the first Transformers I won't see on the huge screen. This 3D shit needs to end. Like today. Thank god for directors like Christopher Nolan who would never betray great franchises to shitD.

Oh and Tyreese didn't bring the rain in this one. I Kept waiting for every word out his mouth to end with "BRING THE RAIN!" Like literally during the part where he was saying "You know what the worse part of this is?!" I Was literally thinking in my head "That you can't bring the rain. Please say it's you can't bring the rain."

And I swear they LITERALLY could've just dyed Sam's girlfriend's hair brunette and just called her McKayla or whatever Megan Fox's character's name was. No one would be the wiser or really care either way.

No no. Rosie was way fucking better than Megan. Her stills do her no justice though, she's gorgeous in the movie and can actually act pretty well for a first timer.

I also thought the parkour thing with Shia was a little weird, I mean it looked cool but it made no sense to him, as ..I never thought he knew how to do that.

There is just plain 2D versions of Transformers playing, and the 3D for this movie is pretty good. It's filmed with 3D cameras.

I sort of liked TF1 and hated TF2 so I went into this thinking Jesus that 3d ticket was expensive but outside of that you know what I liked the movie. Yeah it had plot holes and a few key moments where something happens and nobody acts like they cared
Ironhide bites it no one says a thing, Cybertron disintegrates in front of them and not one Autobot or Deception screams NOOOO
but it was just an easy movie to watch. Took my 8 year old nephew and he enjoyed it too even saying he loved the little robot duo so hell Bay knows what he is doing.

To be fair, I think everyone was expecting Mudflap and Skids to be in this and kinda ready for the worse. So by default them replaced with just Wheelie and...uh...other robot, I can deal with and no where near as obnoxious compared to it's predecessor.

And I think I'll just assume McKayla or whatever didn't break up with Sam in between 2 and 3, but just died. Since Sam owns her dog now.

I never though Mudflaps and Skids were horrible. I mean..they're not exactly great but people really hated on them, claimed they were racist and stuff. I doubt Michael Bay ever wanted that, it's just his idea of humor sometimes.

Wheelie and that little robot einstein looking thing were pretty cool. Even funny sometimes.

Wheelie says something to the effect of "let's hope this girl doesn't dump you like the last one did" while talking about how hot she is (Rose).

That still doesn't explain how they're "broken up" and he now suddenly owns McKayla's dog at his new girlfriend's house. Also that's not really a spoiler considering it's within first 10 minutes or so...
Sam was bitter about the breakup and stole her dog.
It'd be better or make more sense if he had just asked Ironhide to shoot it and leave it on her front porch like he threatened to kill Sam's dog in the first one.

That would have been better, but then people would have complained.

He should have also had her house destroyed too :p

Yet, no one complains about the hundreds either injured or killed during the highway scene. Or the Autobots being total assholes and destroying that lowrider and then kick it into a building to make it explode real good.

And I think this all goes back to the theory of McKayla probably did die since the Autobots are kinda assholes.

Thought it was pretty cool that they used the Milwaukee Art Museum for a location! It's neat to see the movie, and be like, hey, I've been there and seen that!

It's at a 37% on Rottentomatoes though. Are you sure you can like it knowing that?

If anyone needs a critics thumbs up to like a movie, they have problems. Critics are nothing but cranky assholes who bring notepads to movies so they can mark down "problems". They have no sense of enjoying a movie for what it is.

I just don't understand how a person can watch Transformers 1, not like it..watch Transformers 2, not like it..and then watch Transformers 3 for some reason. Why? You've established you hate the series, why keep watching it? So they can bitch and bitch.

Hell, it was even lower at 35% before I even saw it in the theaters. So? Everyone knows what to expect when it comes to Michael Bay's TF series. It wasn't mis-advertised as something like "Iron Man meets Star Wars" cough*cough*GreenLantern*cough.

But feel free to ask again when it reaches the 26% GL range.

37% is still not good at all. And you were and still are acting like the score matters. Just because you know what to expect doesn't mean it's good. Your logic hurts my head.

I saw this movie yesterday. First off, TF2 is better than TF3.

If you're on the fence about watching this one, this should be your guide:
-If you liked TF1 and think the bad outweighs the good of TF2, you'll feel the same about TF3.

Personally, this was one of the the worst movies I've ever seen...and I watch Mortal Kombat 2 as a guilty pleasure.

I'll see this on blu-ray. TF1 was barely passable but TF2 was one of the biggest pieces of shit I've ever seen. I'm scared for TF3.

Is anyone else hoping they reboot the series in a couple of years with a new director and a good script?

What score what logic?

I based GL on my own opinion. Read the thread. I saw the film 3 days before it was released, and before all the negative reviews even came in. I'm actually regretting that I saw the film twice (thanks to my comic buddies). The 1st time was eh okay. The 2nd time was when all the flaws hit like a brick. Thank goodness I got in for free the 1st time.

You just assumed and read too much into it. I don't care if it got RT 50% I still wouldn't like it, and apparently so would 75% of the world which is the reason why GL flopped big: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/gallery/movie-report-card-10-biggest-205951#6

You saw it TWICE?
Just got back from a 9pm 3d screening. I enjoyed this movie a lot, and the 3d looked amazing.
I saw it in 3D (you can get a ticket upgrade by buying the blu-rays of TF1/TF2 at Best Buy), and I thought it was ok.

Seeing them mechs in 3D was good though, but like every 3D film I've seen, it's usually cool for the first 30 mins and next thing you know, you forget about it.

But the Captain America trailer in 3D where Cap throws the shield at you was pretty good! it got a couple of "whoa" moments from the audience. :bouncy:
You saw it TWICE?
Unfortunately. 1st time was free since my best friend who worked at AMC got to bring a friend to see the movie with him. 2nd time was with another group of friends, butI had to pay this time. Good thing I talked them into not seeing it in 3D or I'd be pissed off having wasted $16 with a headache.

Hey, this is CAG after all.

The biggest problem with the TF movies is that it's more about how people are interacting with people with transformers in the background rather than tranformers interacting with transformers.
too true but unfortunately much like the shit pile that was spiderman 3 the films made a hell of alot of money just makes you wonder about humanity and the direction its going in when shitty films make so much money. i heard she got fired cause she ran her trap off about michael bay a while back in a very unflattering way. i wonder at what point she really started to believe the hype surrounding her also lets start the counter or how long till she ends up in porn.
That's your fucking opinion. Most people enjoyed it. Stop being so freaking dramatic and cynical and actually try to enjoy something. So what if the overarching movie is ridiculously shallow? The overwhelming majority of people enjoyed it. You aren't better than anyone else for not enjoying it; you're just a hell of a lot more boring.

And it's funny how a good number of the people hating on this series will end up seeing the third one, anyway.

You have to love the people that pretend like society is going to crumble around us because we enjoy movies like this.
