I dont get it. They got some pretty good characters but others like Nova, Rocket Raccoon, Hawkeye, Iron Fist from Marvel ? No Venom or Carnage at least ? And Firebrand from Capcom ? but NO MEGA MAN ??? Why is it so hard to put fans favorites ? Oh and I thought Capcom said Nemesis is too violent but now they decide to put him in ?

Maybe I'm weird, but I think the list is pretty killer. Iron Fist and Ghost Rider? AND OMG Rocket Racoon? Too cool. Big love for Frank West and Phoenix Wright too. People are complaining these aren't fan favorites? Seems to me those are all fan favorites.

lol whoever wrote that is surely branding the anti-flame shield.

i still dont know why this cant be released as DLC....but i guess adding 12 character would justify the 40 dollar price tag.

Well atleast Red Arimar gets some love. Gargoyle's quest is still one of my favorite NES games.

Also i am really interested to see how Phoenix Wright plays. I just hope i see OBJECTION plastered full screen

If I recall Arcade Edition (SSFIV) added 4 characters + some story movie and if I did everything correctly... There was a patch of some size (I think 100 mb) + update patch (500 mb if I recall) and Arcade edition (almost 2 gigs)*

You figure 4 characters = 2.6 gigs then thats a LOT of data to download. You figure this is nearly 8 gigs to download and there are more modes/things being added. I dont think many people would enjoy downloading 8 gigs of DLC.

*Note all figures are off the top of my head. Since this is merely what if the exacts are not as important.
ok why is megaman STILL not available in this game...wtf
Because he was a.s.s. in MvC2. I seriously expected Cable before Megaman

Why is this thread still alive? This is not a deal. This is just a hype thread that belongs on something like NeoGAF. Or did I miss the memo where we are now allowed to just flood the deal section with threads about our favorite upcoming games and links to pay MSRP for them?

I'm also really surprised that all of these CAGs who won't pay more than $5-10 for great games are more than willing to shell out $40 on this Capcom garbage. Gamers can be such sheep.
Well I guess I'll just hold out till the true complete edition comes out.
How does not having alternate costumes make the game "incomplete?" Furthermore, how is that a dealbreaker if you were interested in the game?
This is just a hype thread that belongs on something like NeoGAF.
Hype thread? Have you actually read the posts in here?

I almost bit on the MVC3 on sale at BB but usually when theres that much of a drop theres a reason so I didnt...

It's not coming out until november so if you actually wanted to play it, you could get plenty of value out of MvC3 in that time. It's not like the game is changing so drastically in ultimate.

Apply your logic to whatever genre/series/game you don't like and it works.

There are a lot of people who get hundreds of hours of value and fun from "this capcom garbage" just like the people who buy madden full price every year and call of duty full price every year and subscribe to world of warcraft, etc etc.

Just because you were a sucker and buy it full price - mash through arcade mode, lose a few matches online and decide you're done with the game, don't talk shit about it.

Which is what most of these people did if you check their GT/PSN card. Hell, some of them didn't even buy it. :nottalking:

I'm not going to say that marvel 3 is the best or deepest fighter ever made but almost every single person bitching about the price of umvc3 either didn't buy marvel 3 or played it for an hour and sold it.
Meh, ill wait for the Hyper Ultra Turbo 2nd Edition in 2 years.

Crappy new roster anyway, along with all the features the first should have had
Think I'll pass after getting the normal CE on release day. I should've known this was coming with Capcom and fighting games.
Are they giving away the Shuma and Jill DLC for free? I wouldn't feel as bad, I bought Street Fighter IV Collector's edition which includes a horrible animated movie/soundtrack, poor quality C. Viper toy and a free Brawler costume pack. The costume pack was the only thing I liked and semi justified my purchase. Flash forward a few months later they announce Super Street Fighter IV, and give away the Brawler costume pack to EVERYONE. I was so pissed off, way to shaft the people who spent extra for worthless Collector's Edition. It's not even a Collector's Edition because there's nothing in the whole bundle that doesn't belong in a trash bin.

Are they going to give a bonus item for people that bought the original MVC3.

I know for SSFIV they gave people who had a SFIV save an extra color palette. So lame!

So if the mk reptile dlc from amazon is any indication will the amazon dlc for this game go crazy expensive on eBay?
Whoever buys this is a tool.
I've been playing MvC for 13 years now and the VS series for longer.
I just can't resist this game. If I'm a tool for buying it, whatevs. I love these games.
IS MAHVEL, BABY!
Well I guess I'll just hold out till the true complete edition comes out.
I tell you what, I'll be just as hyped as I am now if they announce a Super Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 AE: Complete Edition this time next year. I'll buy that up in a heart beat as well.
Do you have any info to support that statement? Like Dev's saying "Marvel won't let us use the good characters we want to give you :(" Or are you just assuming this? I know Marvel owns the characters, but that doesn't mean the choice of characters was theirs.
Specialist touched on it, but it happened like he said. Being at work right now and this and GAF being the only game sites that work, it would be very hard to find links right now, but Marvel has the ultimate say in who gets in and who doesn't. Capcom had to fight to get Shuma Gorath in, because they love him, but Marvel doesn't. It's why Hawkeye is in the game. Marvel has an Avengers movie coming out next year. And according to people on GAF, Nove is going to be in the second season of some Avengers cartoon that is coming up; he's supposed to be pretty prominent in it or something. I'm almost 99% certain that Marvel is the reason why none of the Fantastic Four are in the game. Capcom wanted them, Marvel said no, so Super Skrull is the work-around.

Some people just have to have it all on day one so I'm going to say yes.

And with that said i think I can sell my current copy of Marvel and Amazon's dlc.

Amazon is still giving $20 max for the vanilla MvC3. SE strangely, is only $15 max. That's the one I have. -_-

Best Buy is $17 for gift card and $11 for a cash.

Gamestop is $8 but they have 40% bonus atm.

I have to go with Best Buy on this one.

Plus 8 new stages and some balance tweaks. I would say no. It will be just like SF4 & SSF4. Similar but not compatible online.
so anyone think that maybe they will release Ultimate MVC3 Arcade edition?
They'll get more of my money if they do.

Im still trying to understand the argument for "It should be DLC!!!"

Are you saying free DLC? Or are you saying DLC as its still compatible with MVC3 and you can play against the new characters but you still dont get all the features that come with the new game?
Yeh same with me
i am not sure if i will ever buy a Capcom game with new editions coming out months after the original release.

To think i was going to buy MvC3 because some CAG brought the argument "hurr MvC2 never had Gold/Super/Ultimate edition before! stop trolling MvC is not SF!"
Sounds like me :D. Too bad I didn't buy MvC3 and I don't plan on buying this one

im not sure about others, but mean that people who already have the mvc3 game now and just add the dlc so we dont have to run out and buy another copy of the same game.

If you refuse to purchase any place except Amazon (me), then preorder price guarantee is quite spiffy.

I love how these threads aggravate the anal who have too much time to worry about this shit.

are you guys complaining all younger? this happened frequently in the 90's and noone EVER complained about it

rDEiK.png

actually, it's a BETTER deal now, because you dont need your original copy anymore. you can sell it for a few bucks, give it to a friend, etc. or if you havent bought the game at all yet, you wont have to buy both of them together.

Broodwar is an expansion, not a sequel.

Yes, it added story. That's not very relevent in the scope of a fighting game.

And anyway.. brood war is just one example. Almost every strategy/simulation/fighting game that released during the 90's received expansions.

Noone ever complained.

They could have easily sold it as StarCraft 2. It had just as much content as reg StarCraft, it wasn't just a few new units.

Again, it wasn't the same game with a few added things. What's to complain about? If it was a few new units and the exact same game as regular StarCraft then sure, there would have been complaining.

Ok,.. you're stuck on starcraft but like I said thats just one example..(though i disagree that 2 units per race and a few scenarios is "the same" amount of content as sc1)

where was the outrage for sf2/sf2-ce/sf2t/ssf2/ssf2t on consoles?

where was the outrage for c&c/covert ops - red alert/counterstrike/aftermath - etc etc

where was the outrage for rollercoaster tycoon/corkscrew follies/loopy landscapes

where was the outrage for the sims, sims 2, or sims 3? (and their dozens of expansions)

i could go on and on.

and yes, its perfectly fair to dislike expansions in general(personally i rarely buy them), but whats the reasoning for all the people directing the rage at capcom and only capcom?
and yes, its perfectly fair to dislike expansions in general(personally i rarely buy them), but whats the reasoning for all the people directing the rage at capcom and only capcom?
Because aside from The Sims series for EA, Capcom is the most recent and illustrative example of this practice. There have now been/will be three versions of SF4, two versions of MvC3 (at least), two versions of Dead Rising 2, two versions of Lost Planet, and there's probably more examples I'm forgetting. Mercenaries 3D is a port made up of the titular mode from two past games, and Resident Evil 4 has been ported to just about every home console from the current and previous generations excluding the original Xbox. Then there's their DLC strategy, which doesn't need much explanation.

In short, it's not a long-term, sustainable practice to milk a franchise for money by pumping out yearly (or even more frequent) iterations of a game. Ask Activision how well that worked for them with Guitar Hero.

I might wait a few months to see if there's rumblings of another version, else I'll buy it used.

It's there oh this is too much content to release as a DLC expansion, sorry your just going to have to buy a new version of the game bullshit. Where as every other company releases these upgrades to their original games as either a full on expansion (that requires the base game) or as DLC.

Back in the day there was no way to upgrade a game like Street Fighter so while there was outrage, releasing multiple versions makes sense. In 2011 where just about every other game can release DLC content packs that are in the gigabytes, Capcom sticks to their almost 20 year old tradition, and claims they can't do it.

Also there is outrage for the sims expansions. But don't forget a lot of the people who play the sims are casual gamers and well need I say more.
A quarter of the amount of characters in the vanilla version, as many stages as in the vanilla version, new moves for a lot (if not all) of the characters already in the game...
That sounds like a lot more than a simple expansion to me. It's certainly more than BlazBlue CS added with the CS2 expansion as dlc.

This has enough content that they could have easily called it Marvel vs Capcom 4.

Well, on the one hand, I think it's impossible to buy a game like this and not be kicking yourself in 6 months. Then again, if the new version does "suck" (for a lack of valuable upgrades/content), it's pretty sweet to be able to get the last (current) copy cheap if you don't already own it.

But for $40 bucks? For someone like me, who's thinking of getting into the franchise for the first time, why buy vanilla if you can get the Ultimate for only a little bit more? The price is just low enough to get people to consider upgrading.
