Viva Piñata - General Discussion & Piñata Trading - Demo Out Now

Forgot about the romance candy. Saves me time from directing my damn Bunnycombs to the Daisies and Buttercups. Damn Mrs. Bunnycomb is always give me a hard time in getting her in the mood.

Are you guys renaming your Pinatas? I really have to stop naming the first two Mr. and Mrs. ____. If I don't sell the offspring right away I end up having Pinata incest. It messes with my mind.

Also, any tips on preventing predatory Pinatas from eating their wanted prey for getting into a romantic mood? I just got a Squazzil back from Pinata Central worth 1200 and I don't want the Badgsicle to eat him. Just keep feeding the Badgsicle Happy Candy?

Hmm... I don't think any of my pinatas have actively pursued any of the pinatas that cause them to get busy. I thought the only time one pinata actually ate another on its own was when they were fulfilling residency requirements. Maybe I've just been lucky in that regard?

I rename some of them, I haven't gotten around to renaming all of them.

Supposedly some pinatas can stop fights, I haven't been successfull there, also whacking them with the shovel as soon as you hear the battle music works, but you have to be really fast.
I really like the case for this... not sure where the hate for it comes from.
For me its the way it opens. Opens top to bottom, then right to left to get the disc out, its just a hassle for my lazy ass.

Anyone find any other usefull uses for other types of candy?

I haven't opened it yet, so my opinion may change ;)
Or using your watering can apparently works as well.
I've never been able to get the water to work unless I have to time it as the battle music starts up. :whistle2:k

I was wondering last night why all of my pinatas were fighting with each other, but then I found out that it was my patch of thistles that I had growing trying to have a fudgehog become a resident. Whenever a pinata would get close to the thistles, it would kind of zap them then they would get all pissed off and start fighting with each other.

A couple of times I was able to stop them with the watering can, most of the time one would end up winning and I would have to call the doctor for the other one.
I've never been able to get the water to work unless I have to time it as the battle music starts up. :whistle2:k
Do you have the gold watering can? I've never tried it myself, it just guessed that was something you could do judging from one of the tips that came up.

Damn, this game rocks. I put it in planning only to play an hour at most. I take the game out 4 and a half hours later. Shit. And I had laundry in the machine going, so I'm waiting on the dryer now.

Anyone get a stuck/frozen visitor Pinata? I've got a Newgat next to the helper's house and it won't budge. I don't know if it'll reset once I load up the game later, but I can't do anything to it, which sucks since I'm trying to attract another Badgsicle.

And did anyone else purchase the initial shipment of goods in Ivor's shop? Is it just me or are they completely worthless? There's gotta be something good to them, but I haven't seen them do anything. I bought the water flag, the glass watering can, the lantern, the rainbow and something else and they all seem pointless.
so what's the best way to get money? i've got two sick pinatas and no money to heal them( stupid snail thingy)
Sell enough pinatas (or anything) to buy chili seeds. Plant chilis in groups of 3. Hurry and fertilize them with red fertilizer three sprinkles each. Sell the chilis once they fall off.

Also, You most likely have taffly's. Buy a firebrand for your garden when you get enough $. Then send the taffly's to the firebrand, let them catch on fire, and then hurry and put them out with your watering can. They turn into something, sell them after that.
Okay, anybody know what the mine and the diggerlings actually do? It's not obvious to me what is happening.
I haven't gotten that far yet. But from reading vivapinataforums, I gather that they dig up seeds you can't normally get otherwise. They also might dig up items etc. I *think* it's the only way to get certain seeds like mushrooms.
Okay, anybody know what the mine and the diggerlings actually do? It's not obvious to me what is happening.
They eventually dig out an egg with a dragon pinata, called Dragonache

180px-Dragonache.jpg
So do I dig up these holes the diggerlings are putting in my garden or do I just wait for something to happen?
Just wait for them to dig something up, they'll find coins and other stuff in the process but supposedly in 6 game days, it will dig up an egg, direct a Clucklos (chicken) to the egg and it will sit on it till it hatches.

 • The Dragonache prevents sours from entering the garden. The dragonache can be sent away from the garden by dismissing it. If you want it to return, Gretchen Fetchum can retrieve it (for free).

thanks but don't have chili seeds or red fertilizer yet and can't direct the taffly to my firebrand (although it did get me a moth which was worth 600 so thanks for that)

Or whack him with your shovel once in a while.
But yeah, if you can't buy chili seeds yet, keep bugging seedos.

It's a good thing that's 700 miles away, I'd be too tempted to help Hudson Horstachio "over the fence" in public..... if you know what I mean.....

As farm animals go... he's dead sexy.
Sorry for asking this but I dont feel like reading a bunch of posts so maybe someone can just tell me :) Is this game like Animal Crossing?
I've never played animal crossing, but the general consensus is "No not really".

I will tell you this, in well over a dozen pages of posts about viva, I don't think there has been one person who's been disappointed with the game. That's pretty impressive, and goes to show it's wide appeal.

I think Rare knocked this one out of the park, especially if they keep live content coming.

hmm from what ive read (very little) it sounds addicting. I think I might read some more and eventually pick this up. The only problem is I still have GR:AW to finish, Gears of War to open and play, and I just got a Wii with Zelda/ Trauma Center on top of that. Im going to be busy on my 6 week holiday break at home :)

There's rumors floating around Vivapinataforums.com that Rare will release an update that will allow you to visit your friends garden's.

If they do come up with a update don't expect it soon though as it took them forever to release patches/updates for Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero.

Also, Pinata housing is only required for romancing correct? I'm working on Master Romancer for a few more Pinatas and wanted to get rid of some of the housing clutter of the Pinatas I've already received that for. Selling their houses won't drive them away from my garden will it?

It makes them a little sadder when you remove their house, but you can always cheer them up with some candy or something else they like.

And thank you and the others that sent friend requests to "Kitty Fixer". She tried to accept them tonight, but for some reason Live was having some sort of error. She's going to try again before she signs off tonight.

Is there a way to make a pinata eat another pinata? I want to make a bird eat a worm (its one of his requirements before being able to mate) and I keep dropping it in front of him, but he wont eat it. I feel retarded for being unable to figure out such a simple thing.

Select the bird and then select the worm.
Select the bird and then select the worm.
What am I doing wrong?

I click bird and choose "direct" then click the worm... they walk up to each other, sniff each other and walk away.

Don't choose "direct", it does that for you. Just click the bird and then click the worm. They have to be within a certain proximity of one another so that they actually follow your command. It should make a high-pitched noise when you click on the bird and a lower-pitched noise when you click on the worm.

Thank You! I couldn't find shit in the instruction booklet or on forums. I am actually finding the game overwhelming at the beginning. It feels like they start you off with a hundred thousand "pop ups" all at once and don't even let you figure out the basics. Within 5 minutes I'd levelled up 2 shovels, had 14 new animals walk in, with all this shit going all over the place.

I felt the same way at the beginning, but it becomes much more manageable after the first couple hours.

I'm still having a blast with this game and it's very satisfying to finally get one of the upper tier animals to visit and finally stay in your garden. I'm getting pretty close to completing the entire collection of Pinatas and becoming a master romancer of all of them. After that, I'll work on the variants and then I can't wait to see what extra content Rare has planned.

Anyone who wants to trade some stuff once in a while send me a friend request. I'll try to send out some cool animals. Keep in mind I'm only level 15 or so at this point.

Been playing this a bunch. Probably have around 13 hours in so far. Which is a ton for me to get to this quickly. The game is very relaxing, but at the same time keeps my interest. I've actually played this more than anything. This and Wii Sports have been getting almost all my game time.

Also I've finally decided to hire some garden helpers and thats given me some additional free time to attract some new animals. You have to pay attention to your favorite animals as you level up. I took the time to buy some accessories for my Pretztail and of course one of the trouble maker Sours shows up and killed his ass when I was grabbing a drink! Sounds silly, but I was pissed!

Wow, some of the higher Pinatas are actually pretty hard to master romance. I found on a couple of them that I'd have to romance two different couples really quick so that the "lives" stayed at 2 during the mini game just so I could cheat the system.

I got the 50 different species of Pinata achievement last night, so it shouldn't be too much longer until I "catch 'em all".
anyone been able to find the RE early?
I am just curious why you would rather wait for that than play this awesome game now?

I seriously have some spare cases laying around if that cardboard case pisses you off so much :)
just want the full blown not curved case. and its for a christmas present anyway, so it would ne be opened yet
Ah gotcha, nevermind then.

man, this game is a blast. I just got this yesterday, and have been playing non stop pretty much. I convinced two of my friends to get it, so we can trade some stuff. Am i the only person having trouble, getting some pinatas to do your commands. Like, i cannot get any snake to eat the frog. Also, i cannot get those stupid green raccon guys to eat the romance candy, so they will mate. Im talking about the guy, who needs milk for one of his romance needs. The milk is so goddamb fucking expensive!! That one guy, where you go to hire people said that he made milk, but i couldn't find it anywhere to but at his store, although the general merchant had it for like 2000 coins!!

I got this game the other day and I'll admit, it surprises me how fun this game it. A few questions I have that maybe some of you veteran Pinata Experts can tell me. What is the "Sour Tower"? How do I get servants to water my plants for me? When does my garden expand? When can I make ponds?

The Sour Tower keeps those Sours from entering your garden if they're activated (I think--eyes open vs. shut). I haven't seen any of the snails come into my garden along with the bats and I have it set to "on" so I think that's what it does.

The Sprinklermaid should do everything automatically. I've noticed that if you direct the servants to do their own tasks, they seem to get upset. For the most part though, they do a good job on their own.

I'm not sure on the leveling up questions though. I believe the 3rd shovel allows you to dig ponds (sub-level 10 is the minimum...don't quote me on that). You get the first title upgrade fairly early as well around the same level.
