Viva Piñata - General Discussion & Piñata Trading - Demo Out Now
Do you need multiple sprinkler maids? It seems like they only tend to the area you first place them in.
It can't hurt I guess. I'm not certain on this one actually though as I killed all my helpers long ago. Oh, except for the Diggerling, he's still employed in Gummibear Garden.

shipwreck, does the pathfinding by the AI get any better towards the upper levels (25+) and when you get the largest garden available? I'm on the 3rd title upgrade and they get stuck a lot, especially if I set up gardens (which I like to fence off on the outer perimeter of the garden) on the outermost edges. The sprinklers seem to miss some plants as well in a plot even though I leave a whole square for them to walk through.

This is one of the reasons the helpers got the pink slip. The sprinkling gets stuck very easily and once you have the best watering can, there's really no use in keeping a sprinkling around. If you don't have any fences though, the sprinkling seems to have a much easier time.

I got rid of the Gatherling because she kept on picking up the stuff that I was trying to use to lure Pinatas into visiting or staying.

The Watchlings are basically useless as well. I found that they were scaring off stuff I wanted to visit my garden more than they were frightening unwanted guests.

I don't think I've ever hired a Weedling because I have no weeds and if I did have weeds it's because I planted them and wanted to keep them. I'm not quite sure what the use of this helper is.

So, that leaves us with Diggerlings. These guys seem to never have a problem and they actual provide you with stuff that you couldn't get on your own.

As for whether the workers get smarter as you level up, I have no clue. Once I got the top of the line tools and garden upgrades, I sent all the workers to the unemployment office. It's been a lot less stressful in the garden and productivity has skyrocketed since I cut back the workforce.

shpwreck, do you know how long it takes to get a dragonache egg? I have had the mine+max diggerlings for a atleast 2 weeks(Pinata time of course) and so far all I have gotten it like some gold or something from the mine.

how many diggerlings do you have??? you only need one

not working for me either. a mine in each of my 4 gardens, and all I get is dirt. and thats WITH bribing my digger with 2000 coins... I'm just hoping he hits something hard one of these days...

to bad i have to wait till 12-25 to play it.
I could have but I wanted user review.
That is the official thread for the game where dozens of us comment on it. It's relationship to animal crossing is also discussed extensively. What else do you want?

Not to be attacked if I don't have time to search 15 pages worth of posts.

and.......this thread really isn't comparing the two after I chance to read, it sounds like players spoiling the game for those who haven't had a chance to play it.

You don't have to, there's a search option on the top of the page. Search for Viva Pinata on the X360 forums and bingo!

Perhaps you shouldn't expect everything to be handed to you on a silver platter?

Sigh.... it's all about the instant gratification generation....

No, I can thank the moderator for seeing a post about the game and just throwing in a generic thread.

I was looking for a discussion about a direct comparison.

I read your post fully and decided this was the place for it since this is the thread for discussion about Viva Pinata.

As for comparing the two games, they really aren't all that similar, but if you enjoy one, there is a good chance you would enjoy the other. Viva Pinata involves a lot more strategy and is more of a simulation game. The clock does not move in real-time as it does in Animal Crossing and the world does not continue to change when you are not playing. I feel that there is a lot more purpose in my actions in Viva Pinata than there is in Animal Crossing.

Maybe you should just be happy said moderator didn't just lock and/or delete your thread?

..I didn't now you could bribe them.:bomb:
BTW, I have 4 Diggerlings.

As for VP and AC, I loved ACWW, and I love VP, so I guess it is liking the genre of simulation. Of course, I like just about anything Rare makes.

I want to pick this game up so bad. They have it at bb for 50$ for LE because I don't think they have any of the normal editions. I may try picking it up and if it rings up for 60$ telling them that it displays for 50$.

The LE is 50 bucks. The normal edition hasn't come out yet.

"Normal Edition" hasn't come out yet (that I know of)...$50 is the normal retail price.

Oh, okay. Well I picked it up and its like the best decision I have made in a while. I don't expect it to have much lasting appeal after the achievements are done but we will see. I think this is going to be the first game I make sure I get them all.

Well someone accidently mentioned Viva Pinata on the phone for Xmas ;) So I'll be looking forward to playing this game sometime around Christmas...

It will take a while to get all the achievements(there is a 50 hour achievement). And I feel the same way about getting all of them, as it is not impossible to get them, unlike just about every other game. I currently have 39/50 achievements, so it doesn't feel to hopeless.
So the normal DVD case is NOT available yet?
I did see the regular one at EBgames, but I didn't check to see if it was a dummy case(they had a Fuzion Frenzy 2 case on the shelf). If its not out yet, it should be coming out sometime soon. I think I remember reading the regular ones would come out on the 2nd or 4th.

Yeah, what's up with this Limited/Normal edition discrepancy? If this is indeed the Limited/Rare/whatever release for $50, what's the normal edition going to be? $40? $45? I think not. Very confusing. Anyway, my girlfriend bought it to make her purchase go above $299 at BB to get 6 month zero finance so I'm not complaining - it's another game for my library but with an awkward case.

It's very entertaining and deep for a "kid's" game. I must say...it's quite...cute. There, I said it. I had to turn down the contrast and brightness because I'm always playing darker environment games like GoW, RE4, etc.
Why don't people like the LE case of Viva Pinata?
Because it's different, and won't fit on the shelf like the rest of their games to appease their anality.

Seriously, who knows, I have absolutely no clue why that should deter anyone from buying the game. Just silly.

I personally don't like LE... the box shape looks odd as hell alongside my other Xbox games.. prefer the green packaging over the unnecissary extras wit this game... WIll be pickign it up probably for chrsitmas if I don't get that amazon Zune deal.

I feel guilty and stupid because at the time of purchase, I kept telling my gf that is was the stupid little kids who nagged their parents into buying up all the regular edition for Christmas. Turns out, I'm the stupid ass.

Well reading through here for the fourth day has me now wanting this game too. I guess I will call some people and let them know this would make a nice Christmas gift.
The latest EGM Rumor Mill suggest that Rare is working on a Viva Pinata Kart Racing game for X360
Diddy Kong Racing in Pinata Island huh? I guess it could work. Though I'm not too sure how to take them pushing VP like this.

I didnt see any trading thread for this game so I thought I would make one up. My wife is addicted to this game and has hijacked my 360. She is around the 50th level in the game and is willing to trade with people. If you want to trade some pinata's send her a friends request and see what happens. Or if you want to trade with someone else. So far the game is really adicting. Good luck in the game.

I will be happy to trade and stuff, but I dont get Live until Christmas, but as long as I remember, I would like to trade after Christmas.

As for the VP Kart Racing game... that would be so awesome. Diddy Kong Racing was sooooo good (plan on picking it up for DS at release), and if they could make another game like it, but with Pinatas, that would just be so good. It would be awesome if you could unlock or buy from marketplace other Rare characters(primarily animal), like Banjo, Conker, or Lupus.
