Ravenholme was creepier than most "scary" games.
I personally didn't think it was creepy at all. Good atmosphere, I guess, but I wasn't spooked.
The best "creepy" I can remember in a game, besides Silent Hill 2, was Dead Space. That game gave me the fucking heebiejeebies.
Before that, maybe Resident Evil 3, because of the Nemesis hunting your ass down randomly.
How long are these steam sales supposed to occur?
The last day is January 2nd.

Jimbo Slice is still a nerd. Where's my box, nerd?

I fired up The Witcher and didn't understand the melee combat system. I kept getting "Too Fast!" messages.

Time to RTFM, 'cause I dunno what the hell I'm supposed to do. >_
Dead Space was scary for about 2 hours. Then it was basically a pretty a good shoot em up.
Mostly. It was kind of creepy in the last chapters on the ship, at least the one where you stumble across the cult area. Any place with that regenerating mother fucker too. :shudder:

Yeah, I thought the game switched between the creepy sections and the action sections throughout the game (in a good way). The beginning did focus more on the creepiness than the rest of the game, but there were still plenty of creepy moments throughout. And finding out more and more about the story also added to the horror. The Dead Space series has one of the most interesting backstories of any new IP this gen IMO.

Running back and forth through familiar corridors and riding elevators over and over, kind of made every mission in that game feel like another day at a haunted house that you yourself work at. Once I got into that vibe I was truly never even uncomfortable at any moment past that point.

I'm excited about Dead Space 2 because they have a chance to fix a good amount of flaws in their concept and might bring out the potential the original had.

When I played Dead Space, all I could think was "Its alright to play, nothing spectacular." Then I played RE5 and was like "I need Dead Space."

Dead Space's back story is actually pretty awesome. No real interest in the MP, but once my backlog is cleared up, Dead Space 2 will be in my hands. Gonna curb stomp some demon babies. Plasma Cutter, best mining tool/weapon ever made.

My lord, the little girl in the Narnia movies has the face of a bulldog

Pshaw, if we're talking about bad "horror" games, then that award goes to Deadly Premonition. Talk about an "underrated" game that's totally overrated. Plays like shit and looks like shit.
I think the point of Deadly Premonition is that it looks like shit and plays like shit. It's the Nic Cage of video games.
Woah, Con Air is an awesome movie. Nick Cage is only recently making bad movies to pay for his "must buy everything" addiction.

Deadly Premonition is like a sick Snakes on a Plane joke.
What? You can skip the intro demo game in 2K11. You do not need to use shot stick to shoot in the default control scheme either.
I know, which is why I quit the game after being turned off by the jerseys. I still shouldn't be forced into a game when I first start it up when I just wanted to get into the career mode.

As for the shot stick, it's still there because they want you to use it. They could have just used the right stick for something that's much more useful.

Speaking of creepy games, Clock Tower scared the heck out of me when I was a kid. I never played Clock Tower 2 though, and Clock Tower 3 was alright but didn't seem nearly as scary.
I think the only zombie game/series/thing I've ever really liked alot is dead rising.
That is because DR is more of the "Shaun of the Dead" type zombie game. It never takes its self seriously, despite Frank West always being super serious (cause you know, he's covered wars before).

RE1 and 2 were survival games. Even the save system was designed to make the game harder (you only had a certain amount of saves due to ink ribbons).

There is a lot of potential for video games to really harness the horror genre. Heavy Rain was a step in the right direction in terms of immersion. Good thing Guillermo del Toro is into video games. It might happen sooner than we think.

Having gore for the sake of being scary is not horror.

I love Dead Rising so, so much. I actually think I may playthrough the first one again today.

But first, I have to tear myself away from these Holiday specials and the smattering of tasty cookies in front of me so I can go upstairs to play.

I think I will put an end to the "where's my box" meme (and since I'm actually making decent $ now) send Hank his box on the 26th. ABOUT DAMN TIME.

It's all good bro. :grouphug:

Rune Factory 3 is strangely addicting, like when I started it the voice acting was kind of annoying (and it still is because half the time it is like a really small clip, like laugh clip, sigh clip, one conversation with text actually had voice acting that went like, laugh, sigh, laugh, sigh, laugh, laugh... sometimes they actually do voice some lines though, but when you wander by people in town they always make some default sound), but I digress the game seemed to start a little slowly but once I was in the swing of raising crops, helping people in town, and exploring dungeons I was having a good time and my flight flew by.
Friend bought me New Vegas off of Steam. Free is a good price. :bouncy:
That's even better than the $25 it would have been since you already own F3!

Yeah, I was totally debating it too. Then he hit me up via text "Want New Vegas?" :bouncy:
