I know you're talking about me. I do want to see affiliate links used, to be the only way you can get in on the deal. I doubt Cheapy is getting kickbacks on the coupon by itself, and I'm sure they meant for the coupon to be used by us. Putting the code itself on the front page bypasses all of this. I'm not saying we shouldn't advertise the fact we're getting a deal, but the way it's being done is incorrect.
'Hey, sign up for our free service (that we get money for having more members and page views for) to get a sweet exclusive code that members can use to save cash.
Oh BTW, you don't actually have to do all that, here's the code anyways.'
See what I mean? I'm not bashing Cheapy or CAG at all, I'm trying to point out an error that was made and not profiting on it to it's fullest.
If you think I didn't make those comments in the best interest of our community, you (and Cheapy) are mistaken. I'm all for affiliate links as opposed to coupon codes (that any spambot can pick up on and distribute all over the net).
I doubt people at PA are looking at SD and FW and seeing the code, but to advertise it as exclusive and make it available to people without at least making them register is short-sided. That's all I'm trying to say.
Nah, it's not just you... I've seen other people complaining as well about the coupon itself. Well, it is a little bit you, but there are no hard feelings or anything

I actually thought about your idea and that's how I got the idea to make the coupon ONLY work through an affiliate link, similar to how certain Overstock coupons only work if you use a certain affiliate link. This way, yea, advertise it through the front page, spread it everywhere, but they are still having to go through CAG to get to it.
Kind of like how Strikebang made people sign up, post three posts and a thread, for a $10 off coupon. The only problem is, then you're getting a lot of people who just sign up, make some BS posts, and never come back. I got my $10 off coupon at SB, I know a lot of other people who did, and I never have any intention of going back, and I don't think the people I know do either.
Play-Asia will see a surge in sales because of the coupon, and they are still making a profit, so I don't think they mind how the coupon gets around.
I know Cheapy isn't getting kickbacks on the coupon itself, but I'm saying he SHOULD be getting kickbacks through the affiliate link since he pulled the strings to get us the coupon in the first place.
I'm just saying whether you make people register or not the coupon will spread it's way out there, so I don't know, guess it just seems tedious to make people jump through one more hoop. And the name is out there anyways, so if people are interested they will check out the site.
It's just a combination of everything I guess... we finally get an awesome "exclusive" deal and many people (not just you) get so negative on it. This is something I've wanted for awhile now (I did make a thread with this idea in Deal Discussions, but it got buried and no one replied) and I just don't want the general negativity to kill any sort of future deal, because I'd love for this to come back or to have a $10 off $60.
