What ethnicity do you prefer?

Also, it's highly amusing that, in a thread full of people making posts like "I LIEK BLUE ALIEN GIRLS FROM STAR TREK 8)" and "HEY WE'RE TALKING ABOUT GIRLS, NOT DOLLS lulz!" and "HEY LET'S BUY TMK A HOOKER" and "HERE'S THE PERFECT GIRL 4 U LOL!! *posts picture of a blow-up doll*," apparently my post is the first one transgressive and off-the-wall enough to elicit the shrill cries of "OMG IGNORE U! BAN U!!!"
Cry. Mak doesn't speak for all of us.
I'm proud of my mixed heritage, but sometimes it's a pain in the butt. A lot of times, I feel like I don't fit into any group. Growing up, I mostly had white friends because that's who I lived around, and that's mostly what I went to school with. The black girls that were in my class didn't like me for whatever reason. They'd pick on me calling me Chinese (when I obviously don't look Chinese). I have very asian eyes, so I'd get a lot of "what are you" questions. It's funny, everyone who asked me what I was assumed that I was Hawaiian and when I tell them I'm black and asian, they look like they're disappointed for some reason.

Once I got into high school, I started hanging out with more african-americans and that's mostly all my friends were in high school. However, I still never really fit in their group either. I had a couple of good friends, but some of their friends didn't really like me cause I didn't act like them. Even my best friend always harassed me for who I was attracted to. I'm 25 now, and I stopped caring about what group I'm supposed to fit into or who I'm supposed to like. I'm like a mesh of all the different things pulled from both cultures, and I've embraced that. I now like being unique. :D

One of the weirdest things I ever had to deal with due to my background happened in college.

One day a group of us guys went to the gym to play basketball. Everything was fine, but some people who didn't attend the college came in and were not allowed to be on campus in the gym. Now, 90% of the guys were black. My dad is the head of security for the college and comes in a politely asks the non-students to leave because that is college policy. Now, my dad is where I get my German heritage from, so you see where this is going. One of the those guys starts saying my dad is racist for kicking them out. Now the guys at the college knew me and my dad, but the outsiders didn't. After I hear that I immediately go up to the guy point out that he is my biological father and say that is my dad and he's doing his job, and to call him racist is absolute bullshit. The guy realizes he made a mistake that I wouldn't let him forget and I never saw his face again.

I normally am a level headed guy, and let most stuff roll off my back, but that was one time I was angered beyond belief. It took quite a bit for me to restrain myself because it wouldn't have looked good if I got into a situation with my dad being right there and me being a starter on the basketball team.

The ignorance of the situation really bothered me.

People are dumb. Some people are quick to throw out race cards when it has nothing to do with that.
This thread went from who are you attracted to, to vent cultural frustrations here
lol, I'm sure everyone has a story to share about that too. Lucky for me, I've never really had too many problems due to my background. Though, I had a stalker one time...

Excuse me? Go fuck yourself and your ad hominems. Race and IQ is actually a controversial issue in psychometrics. Read up on it before you discredit it. Lots of great journal articles cited on the Race and IQ wiki.. or you could just attack me some more. Dipshit.

Well, you didn't do anything but stick up a graph with the supposed average IQ score of different races with no background information on the individuals being compared. If you presented just that graph to different scientists/researchers, they'd tell you to GTFO too (but maybe in a nicer way ;)).

That's what I'm wondering too. Most likely to ruffle some feathers? We're just discussing who we find sexy, not how smart they are. :p

Well, intelligence was brought up a few times.. I just figured I'd post it as a conversation piece. You want Hispanics on there as well?

You want to post about psychometrics then do that. Don't post a pic that is obvious flamebait with nothing else there. You didn't have a link to a scientific paper or a discussion.

I normally don't have a problem with you but that was as stupid as the crap that DarksageRK posted in this thread. You didn't post the link to the Race and IQ wiki until after people started piling on you. If you had done that in the first place then you wouldn't have had a problem.

*edit* Looks like DarlingNina pretty much said what I was said.

Sorry if I come of harsh dude, but come on.

Shit, I didn't realize everyone was so touchy here. I guess you can call it flame baiting, but I kinda wanted to see how people would respond if it was just an image and nothing else...

Also, I don't think darksage really posted anything too absurd.

Well, I'd look at that and ignore it. It says nothing about the people who took the test. Of course, someone that has had a good education is going to do better than someone from Africa who might not have had that same education. If you would have told me that all those people tested all came from a common background with similar education then that might mean something, but as it is, it's worthless.

We'll just have to disagree on that.

It's clearly not worthless.. it says a lot. Social class and education obviously have a lot to do with it. (Btw, your question was "which ethnicity do you prefer/find most attractive", so intelligence is obviously an issue for a lot of people). Here's another interesting one:

Even when you match SES, the difference is still readily visible... actually it's even more visible when SES is at it's highest.

did you pull that off of a KKK website or something? who the fuck calls asians orientals? and why would they test africans as well as african americans and not test other white or asian groups ? that "graph" really does come off as something to start arguments and to be honest anyone can come up with a graph or figures to support an argument. any argument. it really sucks that the one time people actually have a decent discussion on here about something dealing with race it gets tainted by stupid shit.

yep youll see bigfoot nailing the lochness monster on the deck of the flying dutchman before you find a chick who doesnt complain. unless shes mute but then you have to deal with her fingers twitching about like shes throwing gang signs.

thats an interesting thought though if youre dating a mute chick how do you know when shes giving you the silent treatment?
Come to think of it, why is 'Orientals' considered offensive?
because theyre asian not oriental. oriental is a term used for items not people.

Yes, I did. Again, you don't have to take offense just because of that, unless you know when and where the graph is from. You probably already know that "oriental" was considered acceptable in the US at one time. It's also considered acceptable even today in the UK, to answer lokizz's question.

Hey TMK, I know a girl in my college that fits your "Perfect Woman" almost to the letter (Only caveat is I think that she's a bit taller than 5'5", but no taller then 5'7").

I'm a Filipino, born and raised. Funny thing is, I can't stand other Filipina's, and I could never picture myself sleeping with one, let alone having a relationship with one. I would like to say something funny like: "She'll remind me too much of my own mother/sisters," but I wouldn't be lying then. Tell you guys the truth, this "prejudice" of mine somewhat extends to most women with asian-eque features.

But, my fiance is an Italian/German mix, with a bit of Native American tossed in there for good measure: Dark blonde hair, greenish blue eyes, has the italian butt, proportionally curvy, and she has a slight "perpetual tan" which only goes darker after an hour or two under the sun, after being beet-red for a while.

Otherwise, I look(ed) for girls that are extreme geeky/nerdy, like playing video games (which is actually the basic benchmark for me), intelligent, and preferably, enjoys anime alot. I don't care for looks really (the last ex was a whale of woman), and aside from a slight aversion with asians, couldn't care less about skin color either. Lastly, she has to have a strong personality, as in she wouldn't be afriad to tell me how it is to my face, and have a strong sense of independance, while still being able to relate and compramise with people, namely me. Girls with backbone and conviction is a big turn on for me.

My ex told me he didn't care for Filipino women because they were crazy (he's half korean/half white but looks 100% korean). I told him that Korean women were known for being crazy too. My mom is perfect proof of that. :p I'm only 50% crazy. ;)

I've always felt the same way about Russian girls.. not sure why.

how accurate are korean dramas to real life? do mother in laws really mistreat their daughter in laws? and if you marry into a mans family do they really expect you to take care of them almost like a maid? that always seems to be a common occurence in korean shows.

I've never seen a Korean show, but my mom's family sounds kind of nuts to me. My grandma on my mom's side was actually nice. My dad said she was the only one that ever treated him kindly. However, everyone pretty much treated her like shit (except my mom). She was basically a maid to her husband. My mom's dad was a creep. I don't know if he's dead or not, I don't think so because my aunt would probably have called my mom.

He's the only family member I down right despise. He was very wealthy in Korea. A multimillionaire over there. He owned a lot of land which he would lease and a concrete company. He bribed my mother to leave my dad when I was in the 6th grade. Him and my grandma visited once when I was in the 4th grade. My mom gave him a camcorder as a gift. My dad told me (as an adult) that my mom's dad said he didn't want to record me or my sister because he wouldn't be able to show it to his friends, and he would be embarrassed.

My uncle use to beat on my mother, which is how she met my dad because she ran away from home and my dad gave her money to get back home when she ran out of money. My mom's dad eventually started going senile and started cheating on my grandmother. However, he couldn't even take care of himself (he had to wear diapers). His son eventually spent all their money and they went bankrupt (karma is a bitch). My mom is crazy on an almost daily basis. I love her, but sometimes I wonder what is up with her. Anyways, that's our drama. I'm sure I would make a drama filled korean show with that.
I've always felt the same way about Russian girls.. not sure why.
Really? Cuz whenever I think of Russian Girls, I'm reminded of This and This.

I mean, to each his own, but I truly understand the allure of the "mail-order-bride" thing that must be Russia's #2 export, second to fine Vodka.

I kid I kid. Seriously though, my old drinking buddy was Ukrainian, and his taste of women is anything as far away Eastern-European/Slavic as possible. Must be the whole "I grew up around them and now I live in America" thing or something.

What's the old Jon Stewart joke? Russian women are known for their beauty, their hardiness, and the speed at which the former gives way to the latter?

The link was removed? Thanks for not taking the bait tough.

Also did any one catch that clip where Dennis Rodman was talking to the super model and she said she was Russian and he said, "Oh I love Russian Bit... I mean girls".
because theyre asian not oriental. oriental is a term used for items not people.
This is simply untrue. While archaic in some places, the term simply means anything originating from East of Europe as it was regarded a few centuries ago. Before the compass became a common item and made the magnetic North Pole the fixed point for navigation, most maps were drawn with East at the top, serving as the direction by which someone using the map placed themselves in relation to the rest of the world. Thus East aka the Orient, was the source for the other meaning of the word 'orient' in terms of fixing your position either geographically or psychologically.

So there is nothing inherently offensive about calling someone of an ethnicity tracing to the classic Orient an oriental. It is just people making up silly reasons to be offended. The worst offense is that it lumps a massive portion of the world and a myriad set of distinct (at least from their perspective) peoples under a blanket term.

You might as well get upset about the words 'man' and 'woman' because those divide the species into two group by gender. Yes, I know there are actual people that get incensed over those terms but this is why we have psychiatric medicine.

So how does that work? Is the sane/insane line somewhere around your waist or does it go straight up the middle? If the latter, when it comes to holding pointed objects, which hand is the nice hand and which hand is the 'don't turn your back' hand?

I think my crazy fluctuates. Sometimes it's from the waste down and sometimes it's from the waste up. If it's the waste up, my right hand is the nice hand.

Before I go to bed, I gotta share something with you guys.

Being in an Interracial relationship is pretty weird at times. I live and go to college here in Tampa (hint at which one: Go Bulls!), and being in this part of Florida, We usually get around UNharassed. But last summer, me and my fiance drove to the New Jersey coast (stopping by Otakon on the way), and walking around around her father's neighborhood, I have gotten a bit more stares whispering that I could ever care for.

Maybe I was imagining it, or maybe they were trying to figure out what I was (depending on the day, I look a bit more latino/cubano or a bit more asian-esque). I shrugged it off most of the time, and ever once and again, I get that feeling that whenever we go out to public together, someone near me is thinking "oh why is that white girl dating that (insert racial slur here)".

Eh, you white people made me a bit paranoid :p

Hows that work? I know during the winter if I avoid the sun I look at pale as those Korean soap opera people do, but during the summer if I don't stay in the shade I get 5 shades darker and look like I came straight from the island.
