I don't want to get into that whole thing, and I'm not saying it was your fault that they attacked you for your opinions. They're were some over-reactions to say the least. But you had to know some of that wouldn't go over well. And then it just spiraled.

IMO it's because this site has an overload of insensitive dicks which can cause dramaqueen in many a person.

The biggest problem with the CAG forums (and the internet in general) is that people will say shit to me (or other people) that they would never say to me in real life (as in my face).

If someone would say something crass to me in real life, there is a good a chance a fight is going to happen (i'm a pretty big guy and i could do some damage + kick some ass). But on the internet, you can say something crass and get away with it. Thats why there are so many dicks around. 'Cause they can get away with it.

The other half of the problem is people who treat the internet (and the dicks therein) the same as they would in real life, getting unnecessarily upset at some 12 year old on their mom's AOL account. :lol:

Not all dicks are dicks for that reason though. I'm the way I am here AND in real life. One day I said fuck it, and decided to speak my mind, and be damned with the consequences. I say what I think, no matter who it is I'm saying it to. I actually have never been ina fight from it, as people are more often suprised I have the guts to say things when I'm a scrawny pale geek.

That, and that so may of these people have ingracieted themselves into the structure of the boards, with some of them even gaining a small amount of power over others... which rarely helps the situation.

But still, those of you who think that have it a bit backwards in my opinion. People aren't too mean in the internet; people are too nice in real life.

Political correctness dominates every public conversation you have in real life; because God forbid someone hears something they'd rather not (but probably need to) hear. That kind of restriction and inhibition isn't possible with the inherent anonymity of the 'net, which can be good and bad. On one end, you have immature childish "I'll kick your ass anyday pal" flaming; and on the other, you have people making totally valid points against someone else's bullshit that the bullshitter would never hear in real life because people are too afraid of offending anyone.

People get tired of it, and decide there are better ways that they could be spending thier time. (They're probably smarter than most of us)
