Where's my MK2!?!?

PS3 needs a site like Major Nelson's.
Major Kutaragi
I'm buying it as soon as I get home.

And it'll be nice to see a quality version of that LBP trailer.
yeh it is in HD, pretty big too. Over 500MB I believe.
Awesome about MKII.

Any impressions yet?
I bought it despite being horrible at MK and not really caring for the series, but the $5 asking price was too hard to pass up.

I played a couple of online games that seemed lag-free. However, it's hard for me to tell if it responds perfectly because of my unfamiliarity with the series. I don't understand how the leadboards work and the presentation/execution is pretty weak. You can host a private match and invite someone from your friends list, I just wish it were more intuitive like XBL.

Other than that, the single player seems fine. Worth the $5, I'd say.

Anyone wanna trade shares? I'll let someone download either flOw or Lemmings or Blast Factor off my account if they let me download MKII.

Boo.

Though it's nice to see that many users signed up to the PSN service.

New PLAYSTATION Store Content

There are now more than 1.3 million users registered worldwide on the PLAYSTATION Network, and SCEA continues to deliver new downloadable content to gamers on a weekly basis. Today the PLAYSTATION Store will add trailers for the highly anticipated action-adventure game, Ratchet & Clank® Future: Tools of Destruction, as well as for the acclaimed role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which is currently available for PS3 system. Below are the details of the exciting new offerings from the PLAYSTATION Store:

* Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction Trailer (free): Ratchet and Clank are making their debut on PS3 with a new epic adventure set in a massive playground of explosive mayhem.

* The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Trailer (free): The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is an open-ended RPG where you can create any kind of character you can imagine. Experience the main quest at your own pace, explore the vast world, or join numerous factions, such as the thieves or mages guilds, each with its own complete storyline.

* Movie Trailers (free): Check out trailers for upcoming summer flicks, Ocean’s Thirteen and No Reservations.

I wasn't expecting anything but trailers today (didn't want to say it because I held out a little hope...) but next week we should see more interesting stuff. Calling all Cars (hopefully!) and newer PS1 titles.

PS1 games next week. I hope they throw in some surprises (like how they put jumping flash in the first batch.) Intelligent Qube would be nice :)

We can rip CD's already.

I'd LOVE if we could rip DVD's and previous PS titles too.

Anyway, word it Calling all Cars! is coming either this week or next. At least the last time I read something online which was a while ago so... cross fingers (again).

I hope there's a demo of Calling All Cars that comes with it because I'm not sold on it at all.

I'll only have the demo of Ninja Gaiden to console me.

I think we would have heard of the demo by now. Maybe after it (the game) is released.

I meant I hope they offer a demo alongside the game as a whole.

Like the they did with Lemmings, etc, or more recently, with the Rubber Duck game in the UK. Demo released alongside the actual full game.
Yeh, but what I am saying is that we would have heard that was the case by now, like we did with the previous titles.
When did we ever hear were going to get a demo other than Ninja Gaiden?

AC4, MLB07, those came out of nowhere pretty much.

AC4 and MLB07 demos were announced for XBL and PS3 a while back at the same time.

Super Rub Dub, I saw on a Euro site...

Lemmings, a bit faded but I THINK I saw it on IGN about the demo. I knew about it and was happy that I would be able try it before buying.

I don't know, most of them I had read about in various places. I even had a few lists of demos/titles with expected dates burried around here.

Yeah, the PS3 is really missing the boat with no demos for certain games. I almost bought Flow and Qbert, but I passed as no demos. XBOX Live Arcade is still superior in that aspect.

Yeh just give them time. We all know that Sony's networking has been a bunch of talk in the past, but if this thing is going to work they are going to have to give us more goods like you said.

News.
Man, they're getting Idea Factory games, is there hope for Tobal?! (that was I.F. right?)

And nice, SNK games coming along, even though they're nowhere near perfect ports.

Strange though that they will continue to release PSP only games, why don't they just wait on those until they can update them to work on PS3 as well?

The new version 1.7 firmware update for the PS3 promised one long-awaited update for the system: the ability to play PlayStation games that you've downloaded from the PlayStation Store's Game Archives section. Unfortunately, there appear to be some lingering issues with PS3 compatibility, as many upcoming Game Archives games are still PSP-only.

Sony Japan at last announced what games PS3 owners will be able to play when PS3-compatible downloads begin on 4/26. The PS3 will have just 11 titles available for play on day one. The list includes:

* Spectral Force (Idea Factory)
* R-Types (Irem)
* A.IV. Evolution Global (Artdink)
* Resident Evil Directors Edition (Capcom)
* Bishibashi Special (Konami)
* Arc the Land (Sony)
* Ore no Shi wo Koete Yuke (Sony)
* Gunners Heaven (Sony)
* Ganbare Morikawa-kun Ni-go (Sony)
* Marl Oukoku no Ningyou Hime (Nippon Ichi)
* Tekken 2 (Bandai Namco)

The PSP will be able to play all these games as well. In fact, this list of PS3-compatible games is just a subset of the current Game Archives lineup that's already available for PSP owners. To that growing lineup, Sony will be adding 14 new PSP-only titles, also on 4/26. Here's the full list.

* Ikasama Mahjong (Idea Factory)
* CG Mukashi Banashi Jiisan Ni-do Bikkuri (Idea Factory)
* Yaku Tsu Noroi no Game (Idea Factory)
* Lunatic Dawn III (Artdink)
* A5: Take the A-Train 5 (Artdink)
* Metal Slug X (SNK Playmore)
* Real Bout Garou Densetsu (aka Real Bout Fatal Fury, SNK Playmore)
* Kenkaku Ibunroku Yomigaerishi Soukou no Yaiba Samurai Spirits Shinshou (aka Samurai Showdown Warriors Rage, SNK Playmore)
* Bakumatsu Roman: Gekka no Kenshi (aka The Last Blade, SNK Playmore)
* Garou Densetsu Wild Ambition (aka Fatal Fury Wild Ambition, SNK Playmore)
* Fushigi Keiji (Capcom)
* Philsoma (Sony)
* Jigsaw World (Nippon Ichi)
* Wai Wai Tennis Plus (Hamster)

PSP owners can at last celebrate the arrival of SNK Playmore product in the Game Archives. Also notable is the sudden jump in game releases for this update. Previous updates included just a handful of titles.

As for the few games that are playable on both platforms, there's a bit of good news as well. As previously announced by Sony, you'll be able to exchange save data between your PSP and PS3. By transferring your data from the PS3 the PSP, you can continue your PlayStation games on the go. The data can then be transferred back when you want to continue on the big screen.

Sony also revealed today that the Game Archive downloads will be compatible with your old PlayStation save data. If you happen to have save data sitting around on a Memory Card somewhere, you can use a Memory Card Adapter to transfer the data to the PS3. This data can also be copied over to the PSP.

The PS3's slow pace in catching up with PlayStation compatibility is a bit mysterious, but the growing lineup of games in the Japanese Game Archives section, as well as the ability to share data in the home and on the go, has us excited. Stay tuned for further details on Sony's plans for the Game Archives in your part of the world.

Don't tease me, I want Tobal also. :razz:

This is Japan, their games are totally different then ours. At least on the PSN right now, so we might see some different titles released.

And as far as the PSP/PS3 stuff goes- who knows.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that this is only slated for Japan.
But might give us a glimpse of what we can get in the future.

Tobal! Tobal! Tobal!
Oooh, and even Tobal 2 (translated or not)
I loved the Dungeon Mode in part 2.
So just to clarify, we WILL have a Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo tomorrow?
It's not clear if there will be an NA release of the demo or if it's Japan only. In any case, the demo is supposed to go up on the 27th in Japan.

Man, they just CANNOT keep their dates straight for these things.

Was there any time frame for the new Street Fighter and Puzzle Fighter games?

Yes- "This Fall." :)

Arg- they are hiking the price of games in Japan:

"Classic PlayStation gaming through the PSP and PS3 just got a bit more expensive over in Japan. Along with the ability to at long last play Game Archive titles on the PS3 comes a higher download price for all Game Archive games old and new.

Since Sony started its PlayStation download program late last year, downloads through the service have cost 525 yen per game, regardless of the title (that's a 500 yen base price plus 5% tax). That price has gone up just a bit. As of 4/26, all Game Archive titles, old and new, cost a tax-inclusive 600 yen.

Sony's did not provide a reason for the price change. In fact, the company didn't even mention the price change in the press materials that were distributed to announce the start of PS3 compatibility for the service. The new prices have replaced the old ones at the official Game Archives website, however.

This news of price hikes and new downloads concerns only the Japanese market. We'll let you know what's going down outside of Japan once Sony starts talking."

Please let it stay over there...

it's even got options for english/japanese language with english subtitles...how considerate of Team Ninja! Boy it definitely looks great too. I've never seen or played the original NG aside from watching comparison videos of when Sigma surfaced, but this sure does look nice

wow i totally suck at this game lol. After just recently coming off of God of War I'm pretty bad at using the NG way to dodge I keep wanting to use the right stick lol and in the middle of a combo to boot
I demand impressions! I need a PS3....
I'll probably do a full review tonight or tomorrow. I'll comb every inch of this bitch.
