Wii-kly Update

One WiiWare Game and Two Virtual Console Games Added to Wii Shop Channel

The latest additions to the Wii™ Shop Channel offer a remarkable array of characters you won’t find just anywhere. A fresh WiiWare™ title gives Pokémon lovers a whole new way to wrangle and enjoy their little pals, while a pair of imported Virtual Console™ releases will pump up the action quotient—literally—for fans of NES® classics.

Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

WiiWare™

My Pokémon™ Ranch (Nintendo, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone—Comic Mischief, 1,000 Wii Points): The Pokémon phenomenon debuts on WiiWare with My Pokémon Ranch, a game that lets you watch as Pokémon and Miis interact with each other for the first time. Enjoy the relaxing ranch life by viewing your ranch and its Pokémon, taking pictures and sending those pictures to your friends via the Wii Message Board. The more Pokémon and Miis you bring to your ranch, the more fun it becomes. My Pokémon Ranch can be linked with the Nintendo DS™ Pokémon® Diamond and Pokémon® Pearl Game Cards to deposit the Pokémon you’ve caught in these games in your ranch. You can deposit a maximum of 1,000 Pokémon from up to eight different game cards. Make your ranch livelier by playing with your friends and family.

Virtual Console™

DIG DUG™ (NES®, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 600 Wii Points): Become Dig Dug, the champion of love and justice, as you drill up, down, left and right, defeating any enemies in your path. Avoid the persistent Pooka and the deep-dwelling but whimsical Fygar as you defeat all the enemies in order to clear each stage. Defeat enemies by hitting them with the harpoon and pumping air into them, or by dropping rocks on them from above. Receive bonus points by getting the vegetables that appear in the middle of the stage. Receive high points for defeating deep-dwelling enemies or by defeating Fygars from the side with the harpoon. Pass through inflated enemies or defeat enemies in an adjacent passage for an even higher score. Lure multiple enemies and defeat them with a single rock from above in this thrilling action game.

BIO MIRACLE BOKUTTE UPA (NES®, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone—Comic Mischief, 600 Wii Points): BIO MIRACLE BOKUTTE UPA is an action game released in 1988, but it was never available outside of Japan. Players take on the role of baby Upa, a prince of the Akuyo kingdom. Prince Upa must take on an adventure spanning seven different worlds in order to rescue the kingdom from the dangerous demon Zai. Upa must defeat the enemies he meets along the way by inflating them. Upa can then use these floating enemies to his advantage by bouncing off of or riding on top of them. The prince must also avoid deadly thorns and pits while keeping an eye out for helpful items such as milk (to restore health) and bells (for temporary invincibility) if he hopes to succeed. If you’re looking for a cute and solid platformer with a hero unlike those in most other games, then look no further than BIO MIRACLE BOKUTTE UPA.

=/

I don't believe that for a second. Wasn't Dig Dug released over here on NES?

EDIT: After some searching, I find that no, it was not released over here. Weird...

EDIT 2: VC Reviews has the same stuff.

They still need to work on getting those emails out on Mondays instead of Fridays. At least if they're going to do it on Fridays they should announce whats coming up instead of whats been out for a week.

Odd that Dig Dug was never released over here. Still, I have the same thing on XBLA for $5 (actually bought it during one of their sales, so it was cheaper), and it has acheivements, so why would I pay extra for the VC release?

If Pokemon Ranch was more than just a storage device, I would be interested. Sounds cute to watch, but only for a few minutes.

This week has nothing for me. So I guess I'll finish Lost Winds and download My Life As A King this week. Let's me play catch-up.

If I can recall, the press releases will no longer leak out on Friday since someone @ Nintendo got pissed off at the person who did it and said to him/her that if it happens again, that they get fired for it.

The only 2 points of getting My Pokemon Ranch:

A - You can get a Phione
B - You can get a Mew

That's it. The storing of Pokemon is meaningless because you can just get 999 Bidoofs in there.

Pokemang Ranch is horrible.

10 bucks is :bomb: for what it is. :[

Dig Dug, however, would be worth it if it wasn't 600 points. :bomb:

Nintendo is kind to us. :)

I guess I should remind people that Pokemon Box for GC was $20 at their Pokemon Center thing in NYC until it became NWS. Now it's like...$100 on eBay.

So how is Dig Dug an import? I know I played Dig Dug on NES. Did we get the sequel but not the original?

I still have that, but I don't really see it going up for that much. Think cause it's cause everyone wants that surfing pikachu.

I remember playing Dig Dug II on my NES. Kinda weird that we never got the original  but I have that on XBLA so no need for this.

I'm looking forward to Pokemon Ranch. It's a waste of points I bet, but only one way to find out
I just want something to do with my Pokemon from Pearl, that's all.

I guess. What irked me more was on Weds they sent an email that said Introducing Wii Ware and Nintendo Channel. I think blue light alerts would be the better solution for all of this. The casuals aren't signed up on My Nintendo and wouldn't be getting these emails anyway.

^^^ what... the... fuck? Is that a baby with a cowbell?

---

Also, we know you have millions of Wii points, boo, but really, don't waste them on Pokemang Ranch. Its complete trash.

about halfway through toki tori, more difficult than zack & wiki,
there are a lot of little touches that are nice, especially in the idle animations
What the hell? That looks like crap.
Stop looking in the mirror then, ugly :nottalking:

Do you even have Diamond/Pearl?
From the sounds of how this works, I can up upload from my game and his..and we can both be on the ranch? It just seems more funny than it would be fun.

I'm surprised Baio MirakuruBokutte Upa is so fun. It's not worth the $6, but it's worth getting the ROM to try out.

Nothing for me this week. I haven't play D/P in ages. It became way too complicated for me. Perhaps I'll finally pick up Pop.
 I think I want this now
That's not on VC, is it?

I think it's supposed to be a rattle. And really, how does liboo have so many Wii Points? Are you getting them from somewhere or doing the really boring thing, buying them?

Ay ay. Stop making me want this game. I need to force myself to finish Lost Winds. Great game, just not terribly exciting.

I can see the appeal if multiple Miis are able to interact on the ranch. But if the only way to put other Miis on the ranch is through another copy of Diamond/Pearl, that's less cool.

1. Yes. It comes out today. It's "BIO MIRACLE BOKUTTE UPA" and it's 600 points (Import title).

2. I have a lot of points because I stocked up BIG TIME when the freebie scene was really big (sites like gaminglagoon, prizereble, rewards1, etc). If interested, go to Referral Central to find out more :)

3. This is true. If we both didn't have Diamond and Pearl, I wouldn't get this. But we both do, we both loved it, so this looks like somethin extra to do. I don't expect much from this Ranch, so I'm not going into it excited..since it's nothing exciting.

Yeah the Pokemon Rance definitely seems to be...well I really do not see how much it would add to the gameplay or extend the life. My wife still plays it almost daily just because she is obsessed with chaining shinies using the pokeradar. I think at one point she had like 16 shiny eevees (all legit so no Action Replay here). So that's her obsession.

Since they put the original dig dug up on the VC , I really hope they add Dig Dug 2 as well. Always had a soft spot for that game. Also if they ever add GB support , they need to add the game boy Dig Dug , which has a good adventure mode as well.

I was able to transfer over some pokemon seemed pretty easy. As I left asked if it should bring "A black Pokemon" tomarrow and It then showed me a shadow of shuppet. Does everyone get a shuppet?

LILBOO: According to my wii Pokemon Ranch is 123 blocks

  that sounds so racist!! :applause:
I'll let you know when I download that later. So..impressions? What exactly happens when you start the 'game'?

123 blocks is amazing. All these first party WiiWare titles are really low..so why aren't 3rd parties doing this as well? The only game I can understand is My Life As a King..287 seems reasonable for that game. How in the WORLD is TV SHow King 3 blocks bigger?!

Anyway, 123 for the channel..but how many blocks for the save data? Also, does it add any save data when you upload your own Pokemon on there, or is it included in the save data?

When you first start the gaem Haley introduces herself and explains some of the concepts. Blah, blah, balh. You upload some miis to intereact wiht the pokemon. You start with up to five ( I went with me, dr. Zoidberg, Alf, Weird AL, and Mario). She adds six pokemon (pikachu, gyraddos, staravia, bublasaur, Piplup, and Pontya) to the ranch. You cannot remove those pokemon unfortunitly. They explainthe buttons, encoruage you to add pokemon.
After you upload your first pokemon, she tells you to catch more pokemon that you have seen, but not cought. She then gives you three wanted posters and tells you if you bring her the pokemon on the posters, good things will happen. (my posters were Machoke, Chatot, GIrafarig. however the wanted list is dependent on what you have seen and what you have caught.)

You can take pictures and publish them on the wii messenger board, like other games. You can also save them to an SD card like brawl.

If you turn on the "Look at my Ranch" option, you can theoretically be invited to other ranches.

I am aware that what i just said is full of typos and gramatical/spelling errors.

How do I look up save data?

also, Pikacu just thunderbolted my Barbaroch, that's not possible he's a ground type!

edit: They just built a totem pole. And now the water types are picking on Ponyta.
edit2: My mii just tried to go Brokeback Mountain on Zoidberg. He walked up dead behind him. leaned his head to the side and text read "Carlos is interested in Zoidberg". Add in the cowboy outfits and it's too much to be a conincidence.

This sounds pretty neat, so far. I'm assuming there's only 1 save file, am i right?

So she gives you those Pokemon and you can upload after that? Is there a limit on how many you can transfer per day.

What do the Miis do?
I'm guessing the Pokemanz walk around on their own and do their own thing?

The mii's interact with the pokemon and eachother. TO a certain degree they are the same as the pokemon. They also do stuff like fixing fences.
I've only uploaded 7 pokemon so far, beacuse that's how many I had ready to upload.

This might be stupid, but I'll ask anyway.

When you upload them from the game, do they ACTUALLY leave the game and go to the Ranch or are they just copied over there..like how it is in Battle Revolution?

they actaully leave, it is a astorage device. That being said I have yet to try to remove any, so be careful what you put in for now.

POKEMON RANCH WARNING! You cannot transfer pokemon to another game OR restart a game and transfer back the pokemon from the first game.

Well transferring to a different game makes sense, but what do you mean on the other part? Start a new game in diamond/pearl and transfer the 'old' pokemon you put on the ranch to the new game? If so, that makes sense too

yeah, I think they don't want people getting multiple Uniques and starters.

edit: WHen your ranch first starts out it can only hold 20 pokemon (including her 6, so really 14 of yours)
edit: my save data, with 20 pokemon and five miis is 28 blocks. Didn't check before, so if someone else can we can compare

We knew about that since it first came out in Japan.

Yeah, once you add so many pokemon, the next day the ranch will grow bigger. I think in the end it will hold 1000. Everytime you reach a new level she will give you a special pokemon, I think. Mew is the last one.

Shut up! :nottalking:

Fixed! Thank you. I'm at work and I'm really not paying much attention to anything right now

2. yes it is mew.
