YOU CAN'T ALWAYS HAVE IT YOUR WAY, LILBOO.

Disaster Movie gets made, and my wish for all those people to die horrid deaths goes unwarranted. No justice.
Rothgar, I might be the only person in the universe who might believe this: But I do think they will. I think all of those great games that made the SNES so amazing WILL be on the VC one day, as well as the other games that made each of these classic gaming systems so great.

I understand the world is pointing and laughing at me, but I have hope...and that's all I got :[
as long as the licensing continues... and the money never stops flowing...

after all, the point of everything is to make a buck!

Yeah, we all thought that too until Nintendo came up with this whole "Wii" thing. It's a great idea on paper, and clearly is sellin like crazy..but there's so much more they can easily do to make MORE money..and yet, they are not.

I wanted to join in on the fun so I fired up my SNES copy of SMRPG. I'd almost forgotten how this game can bring a smile to my face! :D

I'm also looking at my import soundtrack CD with its character sticker sheet --Mallow and Geno included-- and wondering how many of you suckers are coveting that right about now. Okay, maybe just lilboo.

I wonder if anyone brought that up to Nintendo... and ask them.

It could be that they have just a small team working on making VC games, but I'm just making up excuses.

I'm sure if they were to just dump a full load that they wouldn't sell as well as trickling it every few games per week.

oh side topic... What's Cave Story???

I read that in the latest EGM about it being WiiWare and it's totally indy game (which I thought lost winds was...)

I tried out Boo Boo Land last night and deleted it as soon as I started it up. What is that crap? :[
By the way..now that we finally got Mario RPG what else are we waiting for?

Now I don't wanna hear any bitchin on Monday when it's clearly going to be garbage, :shame:

I have a feeling that it's not going to be BAD.. it's going to be REALLY BAD.
Basically, if DKJrMath and SPOGSRacing hadn't come out yet..this is what we would get this Monday. Oh yeah, I'm talking really bad.
for me? almost any n64 game.
This. There's a lot of great N64 games...and I guess Nintendo thinks otherwise :(

Rolento, shouldn't you not be posting and sending people files of that amazing art you did? :nottalking:  My walls are so lonely!
By the way..now that we finally got Mario RPG what else are we waiting for?
Shining Force 2, Earthbound, Majora's Mask... I think that might be everything that I really want.

I don't know about y'all, but here's titles I'm hoping will be released at some point, or at least looking forward to:

SNES

CoolSpot
EarthBound
Final Fantasy VI
Kirby's Dream Land 3
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom
Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals
Pilotwings
Mario Paint
Secret of Evermore
Secret of Mana
SimAnt
Super Mario All Stars
Techmo Super Bowl
TMNT IV: Turtles in Time
Terranigma
Yoshi's Island

N64

Beetle Adventure Racing
Diddy Kong Racing
Harvest Moon 64
Mario Party 1-3
Perfect Dark
Super Smash Bros.

I'm not as familiar with games from the other consoles, but I'm likely to pick them up given interest here from people who did own a TG16x or Genesis. The above list obviously is missing some titles we are never likely to receive (i.e. Rare), but does contain a few hopeful, if slim possibilities (Squaresoft titles).

Smash isn't going to happen. It should have happened with Brawl. I'm not gonna hold my breath for that but Earthbound. Earthbound is my next insta-purchase.

I don't see a valid reason why not, other than Nintendo being dicks.

I don't think it required an expansion pack, and the rights aren't held by anyone else.

Smash is inevitable.

Essentially, Nintendo realizes there's a very small amount of big N64 releases that they have, so they might as well space them out over the life of the Wii. While releasing Smash alongside Brawl would've been nice, it wasn't necessary. People were always going to buy Brawl, and people will buy Smash whenever it happens to come out.

Now, yes, considering the release schedule lately, I realize that the above paragraph sounds kind of stupid. ;) Regardless, Smash *will* come out, it's just a matter of when. It's a shame, though... I'd imagine that if the Wii wasn't as big as it is, we'd be getting way more quality VC releases to help make free money.

Oh, and Nintendo *are* dicks. If it's true that they're the ones that sunk the GoldenEye remake, I will begrudge them that forever. Bastards.

With Kirby Super Star coming to the DS, SMRPG out on the VC, and Banjo Kazooie coming to XBLA, the only other game I'm waiting for is DK64.
NICE.
Oh, and this too.

Ok. I am liking this Monday so far
Haven't we been through this not that long ago with Ys getting a release date and then not being released until 2 weeks later or so?

I AM VERY EXCITED FOR CHO ANIKI.

This is like saying Nintendo is the only one that sunk the SNES-CD add-on.

I.e., a situation where a bunch of companies all got together and said they wanted XX% of profits, and no agreement could be made.

I don't know why everyone is so gungho about centering Nintendo out on this matter.

It has been said multiple times that the remake was in place and then someone - I forgot who was developing it - went to Nintendo for clearance, who told them no, BUT was sure to make it clear that they had no actual say in the matter.

It's like...if you wanted to TP someone's house, and you ask the neighbor, and the neighbor says they wouldn't enjoy it, and so you go home and get angry at the original person you were aiming for. Why should you care about what the neighbor had to say?

Same deal here. Nintendo apparently has no rights to anything - why did anyone ask them to begin with, and then not follow through afterward instead of giving them a hearty middle finger? There's big bucks to be made on a Goldeneye remake - you think people are going to sit by for no reason? Makes no sense.

And beyond ALL of this, there's been absolutely no definitive proof of a remake beyond rumors. None. No screenshots, no running engine, nothing. All that's shown up thus far is nothing but higher-res fanmade stuff, usually based on different gameplay engines (like Source).

I WANT A PONY AND A NEW BIKE AND A SY-- oh wait.

I know we've touched based with old VC stuff, but where's some of the WiiWare titles like Tetris, Bomberman, and World of Goo? Me wants.

Super Smash Bros. has been completely hacked for a while now. Channel, operation guide, save file picture, channel picture, everything. Nothing stopping Nintendo if hackers can do it.

Fair enough. From all of the info I read, I gathered that it was a Nintendo snag. You mention that 'why wouldn't anyone even ask?'... because it IS Nintendo. Even if they have zero rights, Activision thought it would be nice to ask them, and they apparently said they'd prefer it not to. So, why not give them the middle finger? Because they're Nintendo, the company that is firmly in the lead and making butt-tons of money at the moment. Activision likes money, but not enough to potentially piss off Nintendo (who, oddly, seems unconcerned about *always* making money, as this very thread suggests) and, if I remember correctly, the 'no' word came from Iwata himself.

Ultimately, it's stupid to point fingers, but any that are there to point seem to all go back to Nintendo. MS, if it's true that they were pretty close to done with it, had everything to gain and so did Activision. One snag that I was never sure of was Doak who, if I remember correctly, created the engine. Not sure where his rights stand. The only person in ANY equation that would be losing out is Nintendo, which is why it seems logical to blame them. It might have been something as simple as they would've had to pay actors too much for their likeness, or that it got bogged down in the EA/Activision rights switchover, but both of those would have been fixed by now. The Nintendo thing... not so much.

The pictures that surfaced seemed real enough, and were the subject of an article in one of the official XBox magazines. Whether they screwed up is something I can't say, but I always thought it added some weight to them.

... anyway, I don't care who gets the blame, the fact remains that it seems we were REAL close to getting a madeover GoldenEye, and I hate that. To get so close and then get nothing, it makes people want to blame *someone*, you know?

Trust me - I agree 100%. I practically spent all of 8th and 9th grade getting my ass kicked in that game, and it would delight to no end to be able to practice up a bit and hunt down the one dood I used to play with all the time.

Hell, remake the whole game and offer it up. I can't tell you how much fun it was to turn on slo-mo and infinite ammo and blow up scientists in the Facility levels. We used to line the bathroom stalls with literally STACKS of mines, scare the nerds into 'em, and then watch them fly the fuck out the top. Still brings tears to my eyes thinking about it.

I mean I know Nintendo deserves part of the blame, maybe even all of it. It's just unsubstantiated rumor at the moment is all.

Groovin' Blocks announced

Came out of nowhere, says it'll release on Monday.

I'm guessing it's a Lumines clone, since it's talking about puzzle mechanics with song/beat elements thrown in.

Nintendo needs to get their advertising under control. If this actually comes out 3 days after it's announced, that's just silly. I'm not saying the game will be good or bad, but SOME kind of warning/preview should be up by now.

Looks interesting, I wouldn't mind dropping some money on it. It would be a lot easier to get it if I weren't so low on HDD space.

Does anyone know if data from Strong Bad Ep. 1 will carry over to Ep.2? I.e., all the little collectibles? Because if I've got to make room for Ep.2 while still keeping 1 on my system, I'd better start deleting things now....

This is just retarded. So retarded. And for all the people that contend this is NOT a problem, then here's a legitimate one - episodic games that might have data traversing over between different iterations, since it would REQUIRE you to keep X on your machine so Y can be adequately played.

Of course this reason doesn't hold water if you can delete the game but keep the saved data.

Maybe I'll just e-mail Telltale and see what they say.

On another note, wishlist:

NES - Games that probably won't come out
 • Pro Wrestling (sigh)
 • Batman (the original awesome one)

SNES - Games that should come out
 • Pilotwings
 • Mario Paint (WITH WIIMOTE SUPPORT PLEASE)
 • Secret of Mana (announced)
 • Terranigma (No clue on licensing rights though)
 • Yoshi's Island (Yeah, where the hell is this?)
 • Super Mario All Stars (Probably cost 1500+ points or something)
 • Kirby's Dream Land 3 (another where the hell is this? game)
 • Seiken Densetsu 3 (Though I doubt they'd translate it for overseas)

SNES - Games that probably won't come out
 • Earthbound (I've almost completely given up on this)
 • Secret of Evermore (Square probably hates this American-made game)
 • Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest (see above)
 • Final Fantasy VI (Never showing up because SE is probably 3D-DS'ing it up)
 • Chrono Trigger (due to DS release)
 • Lufia 1/2 (Just don't see it happening)
 • TMNT IV: Turtles in Time (Licensing issues probably)
 • Techmo Super Bowl (might as well just get DS with wifi, or the upcoming Wii version)
 • EVO: Search for Life (always wanted to try this, but too obscure)
 • Out of this World (Licensing, I'd imagine)
 • Starfox 2 (even though this would be the perfect platform for it)
 • Any obscure Square RPG that isn't translated (Bahamut Lagoon, Treasure Hunter G...)
 • BS Zelda Series (as much as I'd like them)

N64 - Games that should come out
 • Pilotwings 64 (No excuse to not be out)

N64 - Games that probably won't come out
 • Any Rare game (Licensing)
 • Ogre Battle 64 (just don't see it happening)

Wiiware - Lots of possibilities, but I'm not holding my breath for most
 • Knytt Stories/Within a Deep Forest
 • Cave Story
 • Gish
 • Braid
 • Some small MMORPG (think Kingdom of Loathing, but with actual graphics/animation)
 • Good online multiplayer versions of board games (Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride...basically whatever is on XBLA)

1. My guess is that save data could carry over, but I doubt you'd need the SBCG4AP 1 to play episode 2. It would be cool if episode two took up less space as long as you had ep1 installed. As far as I know on the Sam & Max episodes save data nor game data was reused, but I don't think there were any collectibles in Sam & Max.

2. Damn, I still need to finish EarthBound. Speaking of, Nintendo should release Mother on the VC. It's already translated and everything. But NOA is too busy destroying copies of Earthbound and throwing parties.

3. I've played a little bit of Knytt Stories, but I don't really get it. It is beautiful, but that's about all I see. Does it get more fun as time goes on? From what I played it was just avoid easy enemy, jump over easy gap, look for power up, go to another area, get lost.

Didn't Konami and Ubisoft work out a deal to put TMNT Arcade on XBLA? I don't see why they couldn't work it out again.

That's almost a worthy enough challenge to tell your punk ass to get a 360, now that you have a real 'net connection, and fuck up your stone quarries and sheep reserves.

'Course, I'd have to get one too...again...but they've dropped in price so that wouldn't be all that difficult actually.

I'd jump into some Catan or Carcassonne action. ;) Get a 360 again, Strell.

It wouldn't surprise me to see some board games on the Wiiware eventually, which would be cool.

Noticed Braid was on Strell's list, but that wouldn't be possible unless a storage solution was released.

I don't really know what Nintendo's holdup if one is in the works. Piracy already exists with the "solution" that is already in place, so anyone that plans on pirating WiiWare/VC titles is going to do it anyway and no amount of prevention is going to stop them. Sometimes I just wish they would come out and say,

"Screw you. You're never getting a storage solution."

Miyamoto: Laughs.
Iwata: Laughs.

Why does SMRPG look so crappy to me? I hooked it up to my HDTV then back to an old tube tv, and it looks the same either way. Blocky-ish, shadowy. Just not appealing. Haven't even had the heart to start the game. Just keep watching intro movies go by in icky fashion.

Reggie says there is no hard drive coming, but a "better solution"

I shiver when I hear this in the same way I would when hearing the phrase "Final Solution."

I now re-instate my assumption that their solution will be BUY MORE WIIS! BUY MORE WIIS! (Buy my book! Buy my book!)

The only other thing I can imagine is an online storage idea in the vein of....well, imagine Gmail meets Steam. But this idea doesn't seem that usable either when you consider just how shoddy their online components work. Like Calvin (& Hobbes) said after the toaster ruined his toast, "When you consider how well everyday appliances work, it's a wonder anyobody gets on a plane." Same idea - this is literally Nintendo's weakest area and I think it would only worsen everything.

There's more little tidbits in the link, the majority of them coming from Miyamoto that reiterate what he said a few weeks ago, which was "the Mario and Zelda teams are working on things right now."
