Wipeout HD - Fury DLC Incoming

Can someone update the OP with cag Wipeout times. I'd like to try this out online (probably to get my butt kicked).

Is there some way to get off to a faster start? like you hit accelerate at the right time, I always get left in the dust at the beginning and need to catch up.

right when the seconds count down to zero (when the red bar finishes on the countdown clock) hit the accelerate button at the right moment and you'll get a boost.

I just really want the patch to come to make this a lot easier.

Anyone down for tonight?

EDIT: Just got the Icarus and loving it. One win away from completing Vertigo.

Is this game gamesharable? My one friend downloaded it fine, but the other two both get errors when they try and download the key? Anyone know what the problem is?
Last night when I was playing every time I hit L1 to talk the whole game would freeze up for like 3 seconds. Weird...
Same thing started happening to me maybe 20 minutes into my first online session. I'm avoiding using chat until the patch is out.

Same here. Good Games last night Metaly, FreekyZeeky, and smiggity!

I might skip on Warhawk since Fridays have been crowded lately and there are two games this weekend anyway. Just let me know when you want to race.

What speed class do people prefer? I'm still around 2 stars in the campaign so that's what I'm used to. I was bouncing off every wall during the first few 3-star races last night, but by the end I was getting the hang of it.
What time were you guys playing?

EDIT: I'm cool with rapier class right now. Phantom is still a little tricky.
You were yellowed out but I was still tempted to send you an invite. Im down to play again tonight. We need like 6 people though

I'm on now if anyone wants to race. Send me a PSN message if you're interested and I can host a game. Or you can host, I don't care.

Edit: Good games. I wasn't fast enough to get a screenshot of me and ohvermie tying for second on a race, but it happened!

Just out of curiosity, does anyone race on something harder than novice because every time I even get a bronze in a race on novice I feel like it's a major accomplishment. I can't imagine what the other settings are like.

I'd like to know too. I can't open up the fourth set of races in campaign mode (still 7 points short) and I'm falling 2-3 seconds short of reaching bronze medal status on these time trials when I feel like I ran a near-perfect race. Is there a recommended ship to use or is it really dependent on your play style? I'm starting to wonder if I'm accidentally riding the brake on these.

I don't think the next highest difficulty setting is really that much of a difference. The one after that is supposed to be a lot harder. I need one more medal to unlock the fifth race grid.

This game is hard to play after drinking.

I played a bit in the first person view and I think that may work well for me. Maybe I should give motion controls a try. I'm about halfway to the 5th set of races.

I want to know how people get to zone 50 or 60, I can't get much past 20.

I just got to zone 47 on anulpha pass and it was a biatch! And that's probably the easiest track too.

Basically you got to memorize these tracks and keep trying.

The crap thing was that the comp gave you second and me third instead of a tie. :(

Either way, I'm down for some racing if I'm ever on late enough to see you guys around. It's fun to do tourneys just to get loyalty points, gotta unlock them skins. :)

Does anyone else play using just the d-pad? I do it just because the analog feels a bit too touchy at times, and I played Wipeout XL religiously on the PS1.

Has anyone gotten the XL HUD unlocked yet? What do you have to do?

There's 2 extra HUDs. 2097 and Wip3out. To get 2097 all you need is like 6000 loyaty points with a team and I think Wip3out is 12000.

EDIT: Finally cleared dropzone with a trophy. Meltdown should be fun. All cells are phantom class. :hot:

Bought Wipeout HD two days ago and it's been awesome so far. Motion control is pretty cool even though I suck at it right now! Custom soundtracks is a great feature, played a bit with The Prodigy - Experience Expanded album. Well worth the $20!

I usually work on Thursday nights so I won't get to join for CAG Night unless I'm off. Feel free to add me for some games, don't have a lot of people on my list right now so that glitch shouldn't affect me.

The motion control actually works really well, I find I'm doing better with it, although I need to sit straight up to play (as opposed to lying on my couch). It just lets you get a slightly sharper turn I think.

The Prodigy are my fav electronic band of all time. Although I have a little from all their albums, The Fat Of The Land is them at their pinnacle. It's rare to find an album where all the songs are AAA.

On topic ...... peeps playing tomorrow?

I love, love, love this game... I expect to win every trophy eventually. It's going to be extremely difficult, but considering I mastered F-Zero GX, it shouldn't be that much of a problem. It'll just take time, that's all. :)

You mastered F-Zero, freaky?? I loved (loved, loved) that game, but all those Very Hard challenges destroyed me. I think I finished maybe one or two.

I like Wipeout HD a lot, but I'd take an online F-Zero GX over it any day. I just liked how responsive the machines were in it, plus boosting is such a better mechanic than the random weapons.

You like them racing games huh?

I have most of you on my list, but due to the 'friends list' issue I can't add anyone and seeing as hosting relies heavily on your friends list that's a problem. Does someone with a smaller friends list want to add everyone and host?

I think I've played that game non-stop for a couple of months at one time just trying to beat all the challenges. There was this one course (I can't remember the name exactly, it's been a few months since I've played that game) where the track was really thin, had a lot of turns, and no barriers. It took me like 3 days of constant retrying to beat that one race. I think it was in story mode, but I'm not 100% sure.
And I agree, the boosting mechanic AND track design, IMO, made this game much more exhilarating than WipEout, though I do love both games! (Don't kill me Mana... 8-[ ) ;)

You bet, my friend!
From Mario Kart, to Midnight Club, to Gran Turismo... Even the awful Power Drome. I've always liked playing Racing games, since it's always been easy for me to shine in these type of games. ;)
Well, except in GTA... :whistle2:\"

Guess I'm hosting. I'll have half the slots for friends and leave the others open. I'll kick strangers until we are full with CAGs or let them fill if we are not full after say 5 mins. It'll be under my name, StrandedBrit.

I was thinking a few single races, then a 4 or 8 game tourney.

Is everyone OK with Flash? Ideally I would prefer we use Rapier difficulty but I'm not sure what everyone else is on.

See y'all tonight!
