Seriously, who cares. Bungie has ruined this game. No end game content, and every RNG mechanic is anti-consumer. D2 is just a boring, and awful game. I logged in 4k+ hours in D1, but D2 is hot trash.
 
I had the TA 12 Days glitch on me. Somehow the 12th challenge failed to pick up my 9th amd 11th achievements, both of which came from Rare Replay. When I look at My Achievements, they show up in order with the correct ratios, but the challenge hub doesnt recognize either.

I don't think it will work digitally if it is owned by someone else, but that's just my interpretation. From what I've read (none of which is 100% concise) I believe the disc version is the only way to share a copy with friends and get the digital version free.

Yea I can relate. It's crazy stupid of me to even buy anything else. But I need that Horizon Zero DLC even though I'm not close to beating the main story yet. Its on sale for Plus members AND I have a 20 percent off coupon! I have all the previous Forza's including the Horizon series, still need to beat Horizon 2 and 3, and yet I'm waiting for a sale on Forza 7...but why? I have GT Sport.

And worse still, I'm a Destiny fiend, say what you will about the game, but I couldn't put it down since D1. And what do I do? Let's buy it for PC too! YAY double grind twins!

I need help...

I played three games on XB this year for 26 hours. 20 of which was finishing Dead Rising 4 in January, a bit of Garden Warfare 2 at some point, and like 30 minutes of the Paladins beta. Why do I have this thing again? Oh because I have 300+ games digitally on it... :wall:

Guess I've played some Cuphead since that tabulated at least.

Just got my stats -982 hours this year browsing the ‘my games’ tab, looking at my backlog, trying to choose what to play. And a few hours on Stardew Valley.
 
Some of the GTA V bundles switched over to some Criminal Enterprise bundles which include the old fish card and are discounted.  Great White bundle remains, Megalodon and Whale Shark are no longer available.  There don't appear to be any other new discounts.

D8 challenge done, onto D9 and looks like I'm finally starting Sunset Overdrive... I mean going back to it because I got distracted when I started the... oh shiney!

 
Lego Jurassic World got me through both days 8 and 9, with a couple achievements for 10.  Will look elsewhere for 10 pointers and save the rest of Jurassic World's story (which also includes Jurassic Park III stages) for day 11.

 
While we're waiting for the countdown sale, what are everyone's GOTY picks for 2017? Xbox and overall?

​Shamefully, I own but haven't played Super Mario Odyssey or Resident Evil 7. Also need to buy and play Cuphead, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Horizon Zero Dawn, Wolfenstein 2, and a few others. I suspect my rather sad list will look much different when I finally get to those games.

I don't think any of my top three would even make my top 8 or 9 in 2016. This was just a weak year for me and some of the games I was really looking forward to (Mass Effect: Andromeda and For Honor, for instance) were good, but not quite as good as I expected.

Nier: Automata is probably my GoTY. AC: Origins probably 2nd.

Then Persona 5, Horizon Zero Dawn and probably would have to include Battlefront 2 because I love space combat and it has the best dogfighting this gen.

Funny though I haven’t finished any of those games! Spread too thin between a ton of other B-list games like even Need for Speed Payback, which definitely isn’t GoTY material but still fun. Same with Destiny 2 despite the hate it gets.

Also revisiting a lot of 2016 games that have had X enhancements. :)

Same for SCL. I'd think it's just a better sale on Transformers especially with a couple of those lazy ports being pretty new (less than a year?) and the MSRPs are still way too high. But, you never know.

GOTY - Persona 5 obvi.

Runner up - Zelda BOTW. If I wasn't a total Persona fanboy this would probably be my pick.

Best XBox game this year -  Cuphead. No contest for me.

Biggest surprise -  Resident Evil 7. Was surprised it was so good, though it kinda fell apart once you left the house.

Biggest game of the year contender I didn't buy because I'm part of the CAG family: AC Origins. Everyone seems to gush over it, but Ubisoft games usually drop fast. Hope It's $20 in digital soon ;)

 
I'm a strategy guy myself so I have to say Halo Wars 2. Believe it or not the story was less convoluted and better than Halo 5 and Creative Assembly/343 did a great job translating Halo in a RTS universe (some missions feel like homages of past Halo levels, - with a bunch of foundation work done by Ensemble Studios on the OG Halo Wars obviously. Also I still play a few games of Blitz Mode from time to time (a fun Hearthstone/MtG like card game strategy variant hybrid). Halo Wars 2's cinematics, done again by Blur Studios, are phenomenal. The amount of detail and quality Blur does is astounding. People always talk up Final Fantasy with its cinematics and I think Halo Wars 1 & 2 ought to be up there in this department as well. Atriox is a beast & a worthy antagonist! There's a bunch of leaders online, which have their own units, abilities and strategy. Overall package is fairly top-notch in my opinion (Complete, so core game, leaders + exp), was a shame they backed the exp out of the SP but it's a good amount to stand on it's own really.

Cuphead is a different animal altogether. I do like it and the art style is amazing but I've never been huge into boss fights. Would be my runner up if I didn't address Forza Motorsport 7, which def is the runner up. They just botched the release but for as all as I'm aware the game has been fixed via updates. The franchise is still the pinnacle of racing games, is a graphical powerhouse, tons of tracks and cars now and is just plain fun racing. The Cup campaign mode is a nice variation to single player and the emphasis on the driver makes the whole experience fairly immersive. Their dynamic weather system is impressive and it's quite something to behold and experience during a race that started out with clear skies. Night racing is also very challenging and exhilarating to experience too.

So yeah, Cuphead is an honorable mention for me. I'm glad the developer finally got it out the door. Felt like we were waiting for it forever! I think that kinda knocked it down a little for me. Hard to deliver on such build up but like I said I'm just not the huge boss fight guy and we'll I prefer racing/strategy so that's why I go:

Just going to do games that came out in 2017 or it would take me forever to think about it

GOTY: Resident Evil 7 (beginning of the year but still such a shocking surprise, looks good plays good, length feels just right, was very skeptical of first person Resident Evil but now I hope that the VR version was a one year Sony Exclusive and I can get it next year on my Oculus. if I had one complaint it would be generic black sludge monsters)

Place: Assassin's Creed Origins (although I'm liking it less and less now that the main campaign is complete, the new Dark Souls combat system while novel the first 20 hours really shows it's limitations if you are engaged with more than one enemy, or a whole outpost coming down on you)

Show: Cuphead (delivered on my expectations and I started to think they were too high, man the game is old school simple fair but hard) 

 
Goty for me is Fractured But Whole.

Sure the game could have been longer but for a big South Park fan I was very pleased. I thought the grid based combat system was much better and I liked the creative boss battles where you couldn't just beat the shit out of the boss to win. Only thing I was disappointed with was the final boss. Hyped for the dlc though. Hopefully Mintberry Crunch makes an appearance.
 
I somewhat start to understand the hype about PUBG. Only had 4 games so far and in the first two I got killed immediately with not even really seeing the enemy (landed, immediately went into some warehouse and someone was already in it with a gun), or having any choice with these controls (shooting at someone 20 times with a shotgun,while trying to figure out reloading etc, not hitting him once), however in the last two games i made it to top5, just by using a vehicle, which however I thought was inconvient for those I ran over because sometimes I honestly didnt even see them....  so they probably had no chance to see me either.

Also probably xbox one X users are way overpowered in this game as they see everything much better, right?

Hopefully the new update which is up, will improve things.Patchnotes were promising.

But yeah it can get quite intense in some moments, so thats probably the reason so many people like it.

GOTY: Destiny 2. Got it Black Friday, so I’m late to the game and controversy. It was the only game this year that made me want to come back night after night and finish the campaign. I dabbled plenty with other games, and finished some older ones. But Destiny 2 was the only 2017 release that I saw fit to “finish”.

Runners up: Assassin’s Creed Origins and Forza 7. Graphically compelling both, but longer than I could finish. Maybe on Christmas vacation.
 
My GOTY I guess is Agents of Mayhem. I was supremely disappointed at first, and still kinda am, yet I've played it more than any other game this year while trying to mop up achievements and I've had a blast doing so.

Second place goes to Borderlands 2 if that even counts. I always come back to this game, it has a special place in my heart. One of my most-played games since PSO on Dreamcast.

It's for sure the intensity, grabbing gear in a house with some crap weapons and hearing a car pull up or being close to the final circle and seeing there is 10 people left alive and having no clue what direction or where anyone is.

I can only give anecdotal evidence but I think the Xbox One X has far less issues with the game than the base Xbox. The main squad I run with is half on Xbox one X and half on the regular Xbox. I'd say the regular xbox users crash rate could be as high as 25% of our games at least one of them is dropped to dashboard. Thankfully a lot of the time they can get back into our game session in a few seconds since the game seems to have that built in. In I'd say about 50 matches I've never had the game crash, and I think the other Xbox One X guy has had it crash once. Once on the ground I don't get any of the "texture load in" on the buildings that I've heard about on the regular Xbox One. As far as actual aiming and shooting I haven't seen a big disparity in my group.

 
GOTY: Battlefield 1 - still have so much to do in the Campaign, but I can't deny a round or two online. I just started AC: Origins and that would be my GOTY if I had more time with it. 

Enjoyed Far Cry 4 for the second time, got trapped up in Fallout Shelter and playing Minecraft with my niece; then playing for months without her. Enjoyed a few GwG and loaded up my hard drive and backlog with more games than I can ever play. 

 
Finished Gears 4 and have been dabbling in MP. Got into a Horde match with a player who just spammed proxy mines on spawn points and we coasted to round 37 before losing, then he bailed. The rest of the group and I made it to round 50, but they kept taking careless risks and getting killed. We ran out of $$ for fortifications and I gave up. I was playing as an Engineer and kept the defenses working, but it didn't matter. So frustrating.

If GOTY is just personal and not 2017 specific, then mine is Doom. I started it late last year, but my save file corrupted and I rage quit. Came back to it maybe in March and played the hell out of it. Zelda is on that list, too, but I didn't get very far and haven't resumed it because I was so busy with school and that game is dangerously easy to melt hours away.

I also enjoyed QUBE immensely, quality over quantity.

Honorable mentions to ME: Andromeda and the Halo MCC, which I logged the most hours in. I still need to hit my friend up and see if she wants to resume MCC co-op, we were going for Legendary runs.

I still need to play the Shovel Knight expansion, but what I played on 3DS was excellent.

Wolfenstein II is game of the year for me. 

Great shooting, great environments, great characters, good story, and you get to sate your desire to see Nazis suffer.  That's apropos.  A+ in my book.
