Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

At least they’re giving a full year’s notice. And damn that’s a great PS+ line up — Bloodborne and Ratchet and Clank?

Of course, I have both of those digitally from sales on PSN so not so great for me.
I have both R&C and Bloodborne as physical copies. I'll end up trading them in for more Xbox stuff.

Just saw my reward for January quests. 400 gems for Smite. [emoji19]

Damn. Sony dropping PS3 and Vita for PS Plus in March 2019.

BC on X1 pretty much guarantees that won't happen on Xbox for a long time, even if the passage of time and Game Pass influence the quality of selections.
Ps3 and vita had a good run with ps plus games but the system was becoming obsolete as more people bought ps4s. The only upside to this is hopefully they will add more ps4 titles to the ps plus lineup.

As of right now, nope.

https://twitter.com/Polygon/status/968899759393173505

2 games per month per platform has always been the rule since Sony started this whole thing and got MS to follow suit. Technically, they're still upholding that...

...they're just cutting the total games on offer by 66% and reducing the total to lower than it's been since PS+ started the 'instant game collection.' Which doesn't sound good any way you look at it, and MS is in the superior position in terms of value via subscription.

If not for BC, MS would have the same problem - fewer and fewer subscribers downloading or playing the 360 GWG titles. Instead, BC has revitalized the 360 market and we're buying DLC for 10 year old games to play on shiny new 4k machines. That's pretty damn cool.

The new X1X updates for 360 games blog post included the following:

We’re thrilled with the continued excitement for Xbox One Backward Compatibility—the community has played more than 840 million hours of Xbox 360 games on Xbox One. Compatibility is important to Xbox, to developers and their games, and our community.
People clearly use BC, even if it's not a core selling point for many. Sony may be leading in sales and exclusives etc but MS and Spencer's influence is going to keep me on the platform for a long time.

2 years ago I sold my OG vita and upgraded to a newer Vita. Never really played the newer one. I got my monies worth out of the original one but got tired of lugging it back and forth to work (left it in my laptop bag just in case I wanted to play something). Traded it maybe a year ago. Really don't miss it. Shame that Sony never really supported it very well.

I also sold my PS3 a couple years ago and really don't miss it. I have way too much between XBox and PS4 I will never get around to playing. I grab the free Vita and PS3 games but I know I am not likely to ever have a PS3 again and other then very occasional remote play don't use my Playstation TV.

They have been including PSVR games most if not all months now. Another niche product that probably will die in a couple years but for now it seems like they are giving PS+ subs a game for that each month too.

Notably, they don’t have any PSVR games next month. I do wonder if they’re getting their return on investment by offering those.

I just looked. It has only been 3 games in 7 months. So not nearly as frequently as I thought. Still I can see them peppering in a few PSVR games over the next year. Won't be 1 a month though.

If anyone is iffy about the movies and tv deal this year, I purchased yesterday and received $25 today. Maybe they have things running a little better this year.

Gears stream tonight at 6pm Eastern for the Pink Phantom Lancer. Final one to be made available, with the Torque Bow and Boomshot availability window ending tomorrow morning (complete 2 Escalation matches).

Today's Year of the Dog skin is the Retro Lancer. Gnasher will be tomorrow as the final skin in the set.

Had to use a bonus in the GTASC challenge...well at least I think I had to...one hour lef currently and only 28 above with 81 TA...better be safe than sorry...still kinda wish I had gotten more achievements hum...

EDIT: Would have been eliminated by just 1 Point got 950 TA but only those with 951 TA survived lol
I survived the week without needing to use a bonus, finished 281 above the cutoff. Stayed up way too late playing last night. Started Shadow Warrior to knock out 2 achievements for the Xbox Quest. Since it was getting close to midnight and I hadn't unlocked an achievement for the day, I switched to Double Dragon Neon for the 1 pointer for starting (62 day streak), and played a bit more of that. Then back to Shadow Warrior for 2 pops. Then started Gone Home. Got everything except the all journals speed run and the developer commentary run. Took a number of tries to get the 1 minute speed run, but only around a dozen vs. some others in the TA comments. Went to sleep around 5:30am around 370 below the cutoff but didn't force a scan. Alarm went off at 9:30, finally started moving (aside from shutting off the alarm) at 9:55 to check where I stood, and was still up by nearly 300, so I felt safe.

New bonus for earning 3k GS will be tough, particularly since I knocked out Refunct and Edith Finch in prior weeks.

I can't find in the thread when it was first mentioned, is this like last year with buying any 5 for $5 and getting $25 back or is it just the ad that I see on the store that's 5 best picture winners for $5 and get $25 back?

Also, is there any way to tell on the website if a movie transfers through movies anywhere? or do I have to look elsewhere?

Came to post this as well. My idling Smite and Pinball FX3 got me $25. Pity there aren't enough movies I want in that promo, would literally be free.

Last day of the month and I got........2925 achievement points
But next month I'm shooting for 15,000 :D/
That's about 500 per day, that's pretty rough. But game on. I'm shooting for 8525 in March. This month I hit 6456 compared to a goal of 6325. I did take several dsys off so I think March's goal will be doable. Hit me up if you need help with coop achievements.

Was heading here to post as well, won 2 4 25$ codes. Thanks Fallout shelter and Clicker Heroes.

Have they ever offered ps1 or ps2 games with plus?
PS1 games very sparingly a few years ago, I think Final Fantasy V was one of them. Having them run on PSP / PS3 / Vita made them really appealing, but since Sony has no interest in adding PS1 support to the PS4, I doubt they'll be doing it again.

It's only for the 10-15 movies on that list as movie of the year, right?

EDIT: *25 films. Still not a selection I'm especially enthused about.

The movies deal is just for those pictured. MS is not on the Movies Anywhere train yet (hoping that comes), so your movies will be stuck on Xbox/Windows for now.

Cool, thanks.

I've had my eye on some games (Celeste, in particular), so I'm seeing the movies as a bonus for money I'd spend anyway, not unlike the free anime.

Any suggestions for how to receive PLAYATHON emails in the future? I don't think I got one back in January it seems.

I'm still tempted by Kingdoms of Amalur, even though the odds of it going BC are slim. It's hard to justify however, when I still have Skyrim, Dragon Age: Origins and DA: Inquisition in the 'ol backlog.

If I only have time to play one, would you all say DA:Origins or KoA provides the better overall experience (obviously gameplay is significantly different) based on story, immersion, memorability, etc.?
I loved DA Origins...loved the story and thought the game play was decent. I found Kingdoms of Amalur a little easy...but I had some weapons from Mass Effect, I think it was...maybe they made it too easy. Of the two, DA was my favorite, but I'm a story guy.

I love DA Origins. I loved the story and, while the game play wasn't exactly what I was used to, I thought it was fine. While Kingdoms of Amalur was more in line with the action games I love, I thought it was a little easy...but that could have been because of the Mass Effect armor I had from buying that game.

I vote Dragon Age, personally.

So $100 total?!?!? OMG. That ought to more than pay for whatever electricity was used while idling. I might do this next month.
This was most likely a one-shot Xbox Rewards mission, there's nothing to indicate it will recur anytime soon or ever again.

My idling Clicker Heroes was worth 3x$25. *flex*

if skyrim is in your backlog 6 years and 5 ports later you may never get to it
I bought it when it first came out. Played it over the next six or so months before taking a break. I think I was around 40% of the main story done and around level 38 when my save corrupted. Since then, the disc has been sold, a digital copy has been bought and it's still in my "backlog" but I don't know if I'll ever get to it.

My idling of Pinball FX3 rewarded me the same. Don't know how many entries I ended up with, but it was way less than some of the numbers I saw in this thread.

Fortnite players that have Amazon/Twitch Prime, there's free skins to grab now. Just claim it on Twitch and then follow the instructions to link your Epic and twitch accounts.

Dragon Age: Origins is my game of the generation for the Xbox 360 and I'm currently playing through Kingdoms of Amalur right now. I'm still early on in Amalur (5-6 hrs) but I know it won't match Origins because at that point into Dragon Age, I was so immersed with my character, the lore and the world that I became an addict for more and literally would do nothing but go to work and come home to play more. My wife hates the 8 days it took for me to beat the game and still brings it up to this day. Dragon Age is a verb now in my household when it comes to my gaming. "Just don't Dragon Age me again" is her line haha.

Amalur, while fun, doesn't have that same feel at all. Story, characters, memorability in Dragon Age are epic. Bioware knocked it out of the park with that one.

If you're only going to pick one, Dragon Age! It's got that classic BioWare thing going where you will get totally wrapped up in your character and their relationships with the party members.

Reckoning is a really great game too though.

So played Crackdown, FH and Fable Anniversary. All three look good but Forza is easily the crown jewel of the bunch. Have yet to try the Witcher 2.
yeah, to me, Forza looked better then current gen Need for Speed Payback!

Crackdown was good too, menu's a bit rough but game play and graphics were great.

Haven't tried Fable or the Witcher yet.
