Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Trying to parse the game sale. Is there any real need to pounce on Just Cause 3, Rise of Tomb Raider or MGSV? And if so, are their special editions worth it? Part of me just wants to settle in with all the GWG and wait for deeper discounts.
I’ve had more fun with JC3 XL then I’ve had in a long time. Lots of destruction and open world fun. Might die off after a few more liberation’s, but I highly recommended it for $11.xx

I'm way more of a Microsoft guy (i've never found PS controllers comfortable) but man that Spider-Man game looks awesome. I'm almost considering jumping in for exclusives, I just don't know how much use the console would get.

Can't wait for September! ...So I can begin waiting on those games to go under $20.

Spider-Man looks fantastic, it's rare to get such an accomplished developer on a licensed property that isn't a shitty movie tie-in. Rocksteady and Arkham may be the only others who have really pulled it off. I haven't played Injustice, but to me it's more of a genre thing.

If I can find a PS4 for ~$200 this summer, I'll definitely be in for some Sony exclusives.

Spring Sale results so far

  • Mortal Kombat XL
On the fence for

  • Batman: Return to Arkham
  • Quantum Break
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (don't think they're going to make the original BC)
Been itching for a good single-player game with the focus on story-telling/world building.  But I've got The Witcher 3 still unopened and should probably start that.

In other news- 1 year completed with the ridiculous commute (3-4 hours a day).  Hoping to only do one more year or less in the future

I agree about the controller and MS in general, but facts are facts. The PS4 completely destroys the XB1 in terms of exclusives and Spider-Man is just another example of that. I have 3 XB1s compared to 2 PS4s so I'm as unbiased as it gets, but I do prefer everything about the XB1 except the lack of exclusives. Trust me, you will have plenty of exclusives to pick from and enjoy if you get one and some of them can be had on the cheap because they've been out a while.

If they release a Spider-man Pro bundle, i'm pretty much sold. I guess i'll just have to get used to the controller. That will be a rough month though, as I already have a number of exclusives I would be picking up immediately.

Does Sony have any good exclusives that are not heavily story driven games?  A friend of mine gave me his PS4 and a few games thinking it would sell me on the console.  I started all of them, couldn't get into any of them.  The Last of Us is praised as being a masterpiece.  Tried my hardest to get into this game.  Gave it a good 10 hours and just couldn't keep playing it, it was a chore to do that even.  Story games just bore me i guess.

Do you consider games like Ratchet and Clank or Infamous Second Son story driven?

Divinity II coming to consoles! Yay! I Have the first one and should probably play it now...

They have Broforce. That's as mindless and amazing as you can get if that helps.

I would say no to ratchet and clank, i really don't know anything about Infamous.

Mostly competitive games or games with a strong Co-Op story. I get really bored if the game doesn't have some kind of interaction with other humans. I try to start story games, and usually the first few hours are fun, but once the grind of any story game starts i quickly lose interest and go back to playing other games.

I own a PS4 Pro and XB1X. I prefer Xbox and even put up with inferior graphics of the Xbox One because of it so I am happy that X1X finally offers gorgeous graphics on my preferred ecosystem but still disappointed that some games are still inferior even with the power of the X with a stuck resolution of 900p for games like Ryse Son of Rome, Sunset Overdrive and Metal Gear 5.

If you care about story driven games at all, adding a PS4 to your console library is a no brainer.

I thought that bing rewards auto deposit wasn't in effect till later date? I redeemed a $5 code and it automatically deposited into my xbox account.

Yeah that's really not what Sony first party games are about.

I have literally the opposite tastes then you and I love Sony because it caters to single player story games.

Xbox has more of a focus on competitive social play I would say.

Well 2 of those games have a resolution of 0p on the PS4, and they are quite a bit older so probably not worth their effort to go back and upgrade them for the Xbox One X. Ryse... Crytek is barely alive as a company at this point so that's not going to happen. Sunset Overdrive they are busy making Spiderman for Ps4 so probably not going to happen there either. Metal Gear 5, who know what the fark Konami is doing.

My Scorpio Edition controller's right bumper is busted, which is very disappointing. Half the times I press it, it just doesn't register.

I've been an Xbox gamer for 10 years, and never had an issue with a bumper. All of my controllers eventually experience "the drift," and need replacing. But they usually last 2 or 3 years before a replacement is needed.

But for a bumper to break after only a few months, I guess I just got a lemon.

In any case, I bought one on newegg for 37.50 after using the promo code EMCPTPT32.
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16874103651

I think it's a decent price for a new controller, no? Figured I'd share.
That is a good price, yes.

I've had bumper issues where it gets stuck and unresponsive, but so far I've managed to fix all of them but one by wiggling and prying. Definitely not isolated. Piggybacking on the PS/XB discussion, I also can't stand the Sony controller but deal with it for those games. The more games the better for everyone. Will be buying Spidey day one (that it goes on sale).

That's the feeling i get. I'm sure there i something in the Playstation ecosystem i would enjoy, but I cant see myself getting the system unless its for super cheap. I keep telling my brother in law to get a PS4 pro, and I will trade him my OG xbox one for his OG PS4. lol.

And do you know Why that is? Because there's no deadline to rush to meet a movie's release date.

Oh didn’t know the majority of PlayStation exclusive games were story driven. That pretty much seals the deal on me ever buying a PlayStation lol. It’s sad though because I would love to play a good Spider-Man game, just not willing to buy an entire console to do it.

Also, don’t understand the point of playing video games for the stories, even the best video game stories are overrated and mediocre compared to any good movie.

Case and point, just wrap your head around this one...the story in GTA5 is highly regarded amongst video game critics. LOL!!

Which was also why Arkham Asylum worked. It started out as an adaptation of The Dark Knight but Rocksteady was able to talk WB Games into making it a separate, condensed but most importantly, an unrelated story to the TDK,

How did you message them? Did you just post on the forums under the Rewards Support page? I'd like to contact them, since my old Bing Rewards account was banned a few years ago (same as most others - was running a few different email addresses to stack up points faster. Most accounts got banned, but oddly enough my fiance's is still active, so I've been using hers for gift cards lately), just not sure how best to go about getting ahold of them. Thanks.
I didn't save the link, but it was posted in this thread a couple days earlier.

I've got to disagree with this. I don't think many games can stand toe-to-toe with movies when simply trying to copy the format, which is where a lot of the industry has been with the heavily cinematic stuff for the past 10-15 year. Think your standard cutscene heavy shooter story like CoD, your "I wish I was making a movie" style game like Heavy Rain or Beyond Two Soul, or even heavily linear stuff like Bioshock Infinite. While there are exceptions to these (Spec Ops: The Line, Kojima's games, Naughty Dog), in general this is usually a detriment to the game overall with stuff clashing between story and gameplay.

You've also got the newer breed of game, the "walking simulator", that I think focuses a bit too hard on telling story to the point that it's a detriment to a lot of people, stuff like Gone Home or Dear Ester that I think might be better off branding themselves as some sort of piece of interactive art since there is so little gameplay in many of them.

Games and their stories can shine when they play to the strengths of the medium, which is mostly interactivity that is inherit to it. This is probably most strongly shown with RPGs. Games where your actions can really have a major effect on the story you experience, as well as the possibility of building strong relationships with the companions you get to spend so much time with. Games like The Witcher, KotOR 1 and 2, Fallout: New Vegas, and going back as far as at least the late nineties with stuff like Final Fantasy and the many CRPGs of past.

You also have games where the player's interactivity can really make the experience much stronger, with Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons being the strongest example coming to mind.

gamestop did in fact triple the price of Divinity II to 10 dollars, would have liked to have gotten one, hopefully the original edition of the game goes BC

I'm only pointing out some of my favorite exclusives on the Xbox. Ryse was extremely fun and it still looks phenomenal at 1080p and 4K on the PC even by todays standards. I'm just not sure why they can't just flick a switch and make it 1080p. It's not like they have to create new assets for the game. It's literally just a resolution bump. When you buy a new graphics card, all of your old games look better. All of them, not just some. Doom, Titanfall and Battlefield 1 all looked significantly worse on the base Xbox One vs PS4 but luckily they used a dynamic resolution scaler so the X1X was able to run it at maximum resolution even before the 4K patch which look jawdroppingly gorgeous btw. Metal Gear 5 got a patch on PS4 so maybe with the release of Metal Gear Survive it will motivate Konami to finally release a patch for MG5 on X1X also.

Looked around PAX for maybe an hour today before work. Microsoft has an okay selection of mostly indie games. Want to check out how Below has turned out.

Guess I was lucky I grabbed it when it was $2.99 came to $2 as part of the 4/$10 with elite discount.

Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga and the 2 Divinity: Original Sin games are part of the same franchise, but not directly related correct?

I don't think they are directly related, I was hoping Divinity II Ego Draconis would go BC since it is probably cheaper

Lol! Dude is legit trying to tank his career to avoid fighting khabib.
Hard to tank a career when he's set for life. Even than if he chose to fight again, he is now the biggest draw ever and will bring stupid high buyrates for the next fight he's in. If anything this has increased his stock if he chooses to fight again since the biggest draw to him has been his shit talk and character and now that's front and center.

Actually I think it’s because he is set for life that he is trying to tank his career. He doesn’t have to fight but people will call him a coward if he doesn’t, so he does stuff like this. I mean why try and attack Khabib illegally if you can fight him legally whenever you want? This boy is scared lol.

But hey if he somehow steps in the octagon with Khabib after all this I’ll gladly admit to being wrong. Just don’t see it happening sadly.

Fair enough. I Can see that as well, though I also like the narrative that people are making of that this is "retaliation" for Khabib picking on his friend so the first thing he does is get on a jet from Ireland to New York as a big "Here I am motherfucker!" mostly because it's so fucking ridiculous (but totally in character). Though Dana White I'm sure will welcome Conor back with open arms in anycase because there's nothing, but financial gain from all this publicity and I think they need that since every news outlet seems to be picking up that Fox Sports may not pick them back up

Well that’s my opinion but to be clear I’m rooting for you to be right haha!! I’d without question buy a Conor vs Khabib PPV!!!

Ok I finally beat a game that I didn't beat before. No, it's not a Mega Man game. It's.

Rescue Rangers 2 from The Disney Afternoon Collection. Not a bad game, but the first one is better.

And about the ending
Oh come on. You fight a cat robot instead of FatCat? Even the first game lets you fight FatCat. What a letdown.

Caved on the FC5 pass, $67 total for the game and pass is pretty great.

And do you know Why that is? Because there's no deadline to rush to meet a movie's release date.
That, and publishers often pay a lot for movie licenses, which cuts into overall budget.
