Anyone going for this week PlayXBLA cheeve challenge?

http://playxbla.com/weekend-cheeve-challenge-9/

Damn, always i have two out three games that they list. I refuse to buy this crappy Bloodforge game lol.
Wow. I finally have 2 of the 3 games this time. I'll have to try out the trial for Bloodforge.

I finally beat Spelunky without using any shortcuts after 101 deaths! Currently working on the 'To Hell and Back' achievement. So that'll leave just 1 Bloodforge achievement I'll need.
Tweeting Major Nelson usually gets one nowhere, Xbox support is pretty reliable though.
Ya I know. Xbox support isn't gonna get him anywhere either, they mostly deal with hardware and connectivity problems and such.
Where are you seeng these GoD deal of the days anyways, just on the dash?

I think this should be $10.
I go to the games tab then Sales & Specials then its on one of the pictures in the middle box.
That's correct. xbldb tracked it dropping from $40 to $20 last night.
Wow. lol. Are you kidding me? Guess I'll pass then. Might have bit at $10, granted I still have VT2009 from the $5 sale.
I go to the games tab then Sales & Specials then its on one of the pictures in the middle box.
Ok, thanks very much.

I have a feeling this is going to be shorted lived because MS will be like '"OMG no one is buying our games!"". Well yeah if It's overpriced why should we ? Hello steam!

Well I initially had no interest in Spelunky, but decided to try the demo to see what all the fuss was about. Didn't take long for me to break down and buy it after that. I am not a big fan of rouge-likes and lost interest in Binding of Isaac fairly quick, but the platforming is just too good to ignore.

This is going to be a strong contender for arcade GOTY for me.

Thanks for the suggestion on tweeting xboxsupport about Skullgirls. They said they'll look into it. Still considering finding another contact because, quite frankly, they should honor the price advertised.

They haven't posted the price drops for July yet so I would guess that it's part of the monthly drops as well. Just be patient. You should get your 800 point game. :)

They will eventually.

Excuse me for being OCD, but does anyone else have the problem where the Spelunky box art doesn't appear in the My Games section? Every other game has box art but Spelunky just has its golden statue icon. The Box art does show properly in the Marketplace though. Wondering if it's just me or a known issue.

Mine was the same way and corrected itself yesterday with the box art.

I think XBLA box arts are downloaded from LIVE every time we browse through our games collection... yesterday, I entered my Quickplay section while the router was switched off and all my XBLA games (Trine 2, Sonic CD, Iron Brigade, Anomaly: Warzone Earth, etc.) were depicted with their respective icons only. That was not a temporary problem, since I went in and out several times just to make sure box arts were simply not loading or something like that.

Then, I logged back on Xbox LIVE and all of them popped back up again.

You would think that something as small as a box art would have been saved on the HDD once a game or demo has been downloaded, but that does not seem the case... plus, I've noticed that my saves for Anomaly only work while I'm connected to LIVE, since if I launch the game offline I have none of the missions unlocked and must start again from scratch, but that's another kettle of fish...

This is an enormous pain in the ass when you have a few hundred games to browse through. Though as long as they take to load sometimes, it's an enormous pain in the ass, period.

One step forward and two steps back with every dashboard revamp...

Agreed. The amount of "features" they've tried to cram into the dashboard interface has really managed to overburden the 7 year old hardware. It's often quicker to navigate your game library exclusively through the dashboard pop-up menu.

Is Monday "Set unrealistic expectations for tomorrows sale" day? Cause I really want Spelunky to go one sale already. The demo was really fun, but not 15 dollars fun, in my opinion.

Did that guy ever post the list of games that haven't been on sale yet? I would love to see that, actually.

I had a lot of fun with X-Men Arcade a week or two ago, so I think The Simpsons Arcade game would be a nice sale.

I think there are a lot of us that are going to wait for a sale on Spelunky, but I wouldn't even dream of one happening before the game has been out a week. If you are that eager maybe you should bite the bullet and just buy it. It came out Wednesday last week. I think it may be just a bit early..

I'm just hoping we get something new again this week. There's still plenty of arcade games that haven't been on sale yet. Or even an ancient repeat would be alright. Still kicking myself for not buying Crystal Defenders forever ago.

Pain in the ass? You don't have to actually see the box art to select the game. Unless your mind is dead set against selecting a game when it sees the game icon then I don't see the issue? I have several hundred games myself, they usually load in 1-2 seconds max, when they don't though, I can still pick whichever game I want without waiting for the box art to load up.
Yes it doesn't make sense why they did it this way. Probably to reduce the chance of stuff happening to the data on your HD (HD failure or something) and thus reducing support calls. At any rate, it's hardly the end of the world. You're making a mountain out of a molehill.

while were on topic of slow ass dashboard, does everyone else experience EXCRUCIATINGLY SLOW boot up time for netflix, and a very long wait time when you click on my video apps. i killed the youtube, and zune app which helped a bit, but still its looooong time to load basic info. is this a sign of a failing HD?

I don't know if it has anything to do with it or not, but EVERYTHING has been loading up much slower after I installed that sales app.

We were having a ton of problems with netflix...most noticeable was the load times for shows and movies. I mean the circle would swirl for 5 minutes on "100%" before the show would start. I tried clearing the cache and had no improvements. Then I deleted the Netflix app, everything in the Netflix folder in the system memory and redownloaded. Now we have no problems with the app. I don't know if this would help you, but it's worth a shot.

Well, if we're allowed to up our expectations to infinity and beyond, I'm really looking forward to I Am Alive, Deathspank, Half-Minute Hero (though I despise the fact that they removed extra modes from PSP version), Guardian Heroes, Crimson Alliance and Dungeon Defenders to be put on sale... :bouncy:

Maybe throw in some Pinball FX2 tables too, just for teh lulz! \\:D/
Don't forget dungeon fighters comes out on wednesday for 800 MSP. Looks like a def. day 1 but ill demo it out first, just to be sure.
This, but it comes out friday.

I wish they would have taken the Super Meat Boy approach with Spelunky and launched with a discount to reward early adopters. If so, this game would be in my collection already.

Navigating the guide menu is where I experience noticeable lag. Also recently noticed that the quick launch menu takes several seconds to load. I'm not talking about waiting for the box art to show, just for the menu to load up period. Very annoying.

Anyway, I had my doubts about Spelunky, but it's absolutely worth the points if you're on the fence. Bing points definitely help soften the blow of those 1200 point titles. In my case, I was able to get it entirely for free.
Well, if we're allowed to up our expectations to infinity and beyond
Well if we're not going to be realistic about this, then I want them put put up Mini Ninjas Adventures for free....and give me an extra 800 MSPs for downloading it. ;)

Ouch... ;)
I was hoping for some discounts before biting, but I like the way you're thinking! :D

I think Zuma's Revenge is coming out this Wednesday. I've been playing it since last week and it is freaking fantastic.

Will wait for a sale on this one (bought the first for 200MSP, will throw the same amount for Revenge later). I'm more interested to try Dungeon Fighters.

edit You can play the game on xbox.com. I guess its the same version?

Wait for a sale if you like, but don't expect it to go as low as 200 (Zuma Deluxe costs 400 normally). Zuma's Revenge is a much larger and better game - a bit bigger than Peggle, in fact. It's no longer stupidly hard either, thank goodness.

And yeah, Microsoft has those free Flash versions of certain games. Decent way to try out the gameplay.
is it worth to buy the 2 Cod mw3 collections if you don't play online too much?
That's a pretty stupid question.

I think there are 2 spec ops per collection. You'd have to really love that mode, or at least play survival too.

Link? My wife and I have been waiting awhile for this. We played the first one for an obscene amount of time.

Edit: Nevermind, you can find it on the xbox website with a Wednesday release date. Nice. Anything Popcap is a day one purchase for me (with one or two exceptions).

The xbldb scanner was having issues this weekend. It hadn't scanned since 7-7 late night. I just restarted it and it found:
Mortal Kombat vs. DCU - 1200 ($15.00) Microsoft Points - 25% off - xbldb

Not sure if it has been posted as I'm not caught up on the thread.
I wish they would have taken the Super Meat Boy approach with Spelunky and launched with a discount to reward early adopters. If so, this game would be in my collection already.
This! I loved team meats idea for SMB. It definetly allowed me to buy early. I never buy anything unless it's on sale anymore.

Spelunky is right in my wheelhouse but 1200 is more than I like to spend on any game. I liked the demo but I can wait for the inevitable 800 sale price.

If we are going to talk about sale wishes then I will add my wish for toy soldiers ti go on sale again and for toy soldiers cold war to go on sale for the first time!

Also waiting for ME2 DLC to go on sale again.

Your problem comes from the assumption that the Xbox dashboard was made to facilitate playing games, and not for advertising Skrillex and Kinect.

True enough. Not to digress too far, but lately I've been dusting off the N64 to play some ol' classics. There's something to be said about the relative simplicity of old-school cartridge gaming.

Are we speculating about tomorrow's sales? Hmm...

Adventures of Shuggy
Toy Soldiers Cold War
War of the Worlds
Alan Wake's American Nightmare
Shank 2
Amy
I Am Alive

Again, just my guesses based on previous sales and release dates. Maybe they could have like a survival week with I Am Alive, Amy and Alan Wake's AN. Maybe even throw in 25% off Resident Evil 4. Haha a man can dream...

I'd be down for this!

These are some good, realistic guesses... I'd throw Guardian Heroes in there as well, since it was released in October of last year and it's never once been on sale. I don't believe Skydrift has ever been on sale either, and it was released in a similar time frame.
