XBLA - Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - 1200pts

Can. Not. WAIT. Too bad I suck so hard that online play is going to pretty much useless to me :'(

I hope this means that at E3 Capcom announces Marvel Vs Capcom 3

how many of you guys will be using Arcade Sticks? I have a Hori FS3 for my PS3 but i think i'd rather get the XBLA version of this....so I'm thinking of getting an arcade stick for my 360.

I got (1)TE Stick modded with Red Sanwas and (1)SE stick where I shoved the parts of the TE stick into. And another TE stick on the way to me. This is actually my first time using sticks, but now that I've been using sticks for a little over a month, I can't got back to a controller.

If you do plan on getting a TE stick for the 360, go ahead and pre-order from buy.com. It took them exactly a week to fulfill my order and ship it out. I will be receiving it this friday. Buying an SE stick and modding it with Sanwas will cost you about the same amount (minus $10-$20) unless you enjoy waiting weeks for parts, removing screws, and unplugging pins.

June 29th is the correct date... reason behind it... June 29th, would be 9 years ago to the day that it was released...

Wow, both dates are totally off...the 26th being a Friday and now the 22nd being a Monday.

EDIT: Oops...I was thinking June still.

That's the exact same thing I thought. I looked at the date, and it said July 22 there is no way two big xbla games is coming out the same day. MVC2 is part of the summer of arcade, and it will come out sometime in August. I wish it would come out sooner. Basically what I understand is its a xbla game each week for that summer of arcade promotion starting july 22 with tmnt. Then maybe the next week we get mvc2,but I doubt it. It will be the third or maybe even the last one or at least that's what I think.

So let me get this straight. There is no official release date for this game? First I heard June 29, then June 26, And I just saw the IGN date for the 22nd. Now people are saying it should come out in July or even August?

WTF is going on? No one can come out with a release date that is set in stone? UGHHH!!!!

theres never been an official release date other than summer 09 and its already been announced that mvc2 is apart of the summer of arcade promotion which means it will be out sometime after july 22nd since we already kno the 1st game will be tmnt

UGHHH!!! fuck me over!! God Damn these Capcom/XBLA people playing with my emotions. I got 2 arcades sticks (Hori Ex2 and SF4 SE) just for this game and they can't give me a set date. The fuck!!! :bomb::wall::cry:

Thanks for the info anyway.

Blazblue and KOF XII will be mighty tough to put aside to play a nine year old game that I already own on the DC. They should've released this next week.

Agreed, but don't forget MOTW.

All these 2D fighters are coming out at the same time. Couldn't they be spaced out a little better?

Mark of the Wolves will be tight also but I have it on PS2 and the DC. Again, it'll be tough to put aside brand new games for an old one.

I'm more inclined to pick up KOF '98 UM or KOF 2K2 UM if those ever come out.

All these games could've been spaced better and price more reasonably. I'd probably get MvC2 for 800 points even if I didn't play it much right away but I'm more hesitant at the 1200 point mark.

Compared to the ridiculous prices on eBay, $15 for MvC2 is very reasonable especially when you have online multiplayer included. Then again, it seems like no matter what comes out people want it 400 points less than what it is announced at. I really don't understand that, but it's moot to me.

Also, considering that fighting game popularity is experiencing something of a re-birth out of niche status thanks to SF II HD Remix and SF IV, spacing isn't a problem for me. I'm just glad high profile titles are coming out at all.

For fighting games, there really is only a 5 month window. Anything other than the late spring to end of summer at they get lost in the sea of the high profile games.

I guess it would be nice if they "spaced out" the release of these games, but they are all by different companies, and I doubt they give a shit about the other titles release dates. I'll probably be picking up all three, and if I don't have time for one right away, I'm sure I'll be able to put plenty of time into it down the line.

I'm bummed about it being pushed back too (I've had points set aside for this since May), but complaining about it isn't going to make it come any faster

Probably cause just about everything that comes out on XBLA is about 400 points over priced, but then again I'm a cheap ass gamer how doesn't like DRM restrictions, 15$ reasonable yes, very reasonable ....... I don't know about that. the only real selling point in the online play.

Reasons why $15 is more then reasonable...

1. It's Marvel vs. Capcom 2. We've been begging for this since forever.

2. 16:9 presentation. That's right, it's going to fit perfectly on your shiny HDTV.

3. Online play by the SFIIHDR guys. The online play is going to be smooooth. These guys have a track record for lag free if not close to it online play.

4. Improved sprites, if you want. The option to turn on smoothing so it looks awesome looking on your shiny HDTV.

2-4 aren't free to do.

You make a great point, brother. Compared to ebay prices, this is a very reasonable price. Compared to SFIIHD, it's not though. I look at the beautiful graphics and superb online code as an example for 1200 points well spent. They could've charged 1600 points for it and I would've been happy. Unfortunately, we're not getting the HD treatment for this. We're just getting online play that might or might not be as good as SFIIHD.
So is this game out yet?
My one question is, is this more the arcade version, or the console version where I can purchase the multitude of characters and costumes?

Console version.... Sold!

Arcade version.... meh.
it's the dreamcast version but with everything unlocked.
so like all 56 characters and costumes are available from start?

No need to double post within a minute of your last post. Yes, the downloadable version is going to have every character unlocked from the start.

and I will again, having every character unlocked from the start is a total blow. I had the most fun playing for hours just to unlock the characters and costumes

Maybe because DLC can't be re-sold after you purchase it? Since you can't purchase a used version, consumers should want it cheaper. But that lack of competition also helps to keep prices high. At least with disc based media you can sell it to help lower the initial price when you are finished with it.

In terms of DD games, that's always the first point people here on CAG point out... I understand that this will hurt turnaround, but in the end it's beneficial to everyone in the end except retail game stores, which is good.
and I will again, having every character unlocked from the start is a total blow. I had the most fun playing for hours just to unlock the characters and costumes
I know what you mean. I'll love being able to play with everyone from the get go, but I'll miss unlocking everyone. I don't plan to play much online as I'm not a pro player and I think get beat in a matter of seconds would just frustrate me.
In terms of DD games, that's always the first point people here on CAG point out
I think the reason that it's always brought up here at CAG is because we're basically all cheap asses here! ;)

The no re-selling aspect hasn't stopped be from buying DLC from XBLA or any place else. But it's made me a hell of a lot more selective. And I tend to wait for sales.
it's like saying here's the good version, but we took all the fun parts out of it.
I'm actually happy they added this feature. I spent a hell of a lot of time unlocking everything in the PS2 version. As fun as that was I really wouldn't want to go through the hassle of doing that again.
