Finished Trenched way to quickly. Good game but only about 3 hours gameplay in coop story mode, and in 4 player coop the game is way to easy :)
Xbox Marketing are not staffed by core gamers who understand subtle gameplay variances & value time-tested franchises, but rather Marketers who understand how to promote specific titles. If upper-management says to push the MS Game Studios' published-title called "Ms. 'Splosion Man", you can bet that's what you'll hear about, regardless if older gamers have invested 100's of hours in previous Boulder Dash versions on C64/Apple/PC/DS, etc. Additionally, 'Splosion Man has previously been an XBLA-exclusive, so you can bet that Xbox will push that game over multi-platform titles. It's all about business & profit-priorities.
I'm not sure what Xbox Marketing has to do with anything that I said. Of course we're hearing about Ms. Splosion Man from Microsoft because they're publishing it. That's the job of a publisher. I don't expect Microsoft to be pushing other games unless they're part of a promotion like Block Party or Summer of Arcade.

Warhammer is published by THQ and Boulder Dash by Kalypso Media. It's the job of those companies to do the marketing and get the word out, not Microsoft's. They don't seem to be doing that.

Thanks for this. I picked it up for $5 from a Steam sale a while back and just got around to starting it this week to decide if I was going to double-dip on XBLA. I'm about an hour or two into it and really enjoying it on PC. Unfortunately, that still left me on the fence as I really prefer console gaming in general.

You may have convinced me with those improvements, though. It's a bit awkward to constantly have to switch your right-click spell on PC or try to remember which number you assigned it to. I hate to pay 800 points plus another $5 on PC but I guess I could always play both of them. Decisions decisions...

From what I hear the 360 version is the best. Controller support and some other things added in that will come in T2. For $10 this game is totally worth it.

"Four skills can be mapped for use at a time, plus a second set handled by the d-pad. "Most of us actually find it easier to use a variety of skills on the console vs. PC, oddly enough," Runic said.
What's more, the Xbox 360 pad will rumble for quakes, low strikes, low health heartbeats and tugs on the fishing line - obviously.
Runic has also employed some improvements from Torchlight II on PC, such as quicker loading times, better animations and automaps.
Finally, each of the three classes has a new armour set, there are new random quests and there's something called a Chakawary pet.
All that in one pint-sized 200MB download"

The advantage of the PC version of Torchlight is that you can cheat like crazy by duplicating your inventory. I remember I was able to enchant all my items to crazy levels because I made multiple copies of my gear. Not to mention the ton of perfect jewels I created. :)
I want to know the damn sale for tomorrow! :hot:
Patience young grasshopper.
You will know nothing before it was meant for you to know.

If any backlogged CAGs would like to share your backlog problem/game buying addiction, check out the backlog thread in my sig.

I, too, have a bunch of XBLA games with 0 gamerscore. Just grabbed Stacking, and on the fence on Torchlight and/or Gatling Gears (wondering if these will ever drop 50%).

Yeah as someone who keeps talking about Torchlight, I might pass on it. I even bought a 4000 pt card to grab some stuff. I might just try to get rid of it.

I got too much to play as it is. And if I want to play TL, ill just jump on my comp. It is tempting tho, but I cant double dip.

Personally, I see a backlog of games as a willpower tool for myself. Sure, I would love to partake in enjoying the most recent releases with everyone, but with a massive backlog I can hold out and wait for a better price (or GOTY/Platinum edition with DLC included). I can always hit my backlog and work on those games in the meantime waiting for lower prices on the modern games. The main issue is time; time that it takes to complete some games along with the time I may have available to actually play the games contribute to an ever-growing backlog. As mentioned earlier by others here, sometimes one may have to jump at the opportunity to acquire an XBLA title when it is on sale, because we never know if the same title will be available for less in the future (e.g. R-Type Dimensions was only on sale once as I recall [I may be wrong], it wasn't a major discount from 1200MSP to 800MSP, yet I have placed it into my backlog hoping I'll have the time to enjoy it.)

Sometimes the purchase is just set by the buyer. Last holiday, the Summer of Arcade games were offered at 600MSP, down from 1200MSP. I bought them all except for Limbo which was offered at 800MSP at that promotion period. I stood firm, believing the game, as nice as it may be, would not be worth more than 600MSP. I had felt it was a game with mechanics that would make it a game that I would play a couple times, then be very unlikely to return for repeat plays, thus the price point which I had set in my head. I was fortunate another sale promotion later had the game at my set price of 600MSP. If you get a game at a lower price than you anticipated, and end out enjoying it way more than what you feel it is worth, that just means you got more value out of it.

That value can be a fine line, at times swayed by mood. Lazy Raiders was offered at 160MSP once, at that time my thought process was "it is only 160MSP, so there should be little to no harm in buying it." Eventually, to this day, I have not played Lazy Raiders yet. On the other hand, Unbound Saga was offered at 160MSP at another time, and I thought "despite the achievements, avatar parts, and low price, I will exhibit some willpower/standards and not buy the game."

If a game doesn't meet a certain value (joy/price), well, it may just end out as a regret purchase. With better information, hopefully you can make a sound decision on your purchases. Thus, consider Torchlight is on the old trend of 1200MSP gets discounted to just 800MSP, opposed to our current spoiled state of "800MSP games get the 50% off treatment, 1200MSP games should get the same 50% off treatment, not just 33.3%." Also be mindful that the game is a relatively new XBLA title, may not go on sale again, will have a sequel [unknown if XBLA bound] with added co-op, and the XBLA release has some features not on other platforms, but still a sound Diablo-like game. In the end, you make the call :bouncy:.

Onto the DotW starting tomorrow, I wish I could find some information on the offerings, such that I can make an informed decision as well. I can only guess it is that voted Mass Effect 2 DLC, because that was given a generic "July" window. However, I hope Microsoft offers a large sale which spans multiple types of tastes, since Steam and PSN has/will offer a large "summer sale."
I want to know the damn sale for tomorrow! :hot:
Aren't we due for that DLC that came out of the Live-community vote? That should be hitting any week now.

Damn, I forgot about that, I honestly hate when there is dlc on sale whether I use it or not, I am much happier when it is full games that are on sale.

What DLC won anyway?
I think it was the Mass Effect 2 dlc, but I am not positive.
Works for me since I don't have the Arrival DLC yet
Works for me since I don't have the Arrival DLC yet
Thats if its included. I think it will be but you never know. Almost wish I would have voted for BC2.

Same here. Just waiting for that to go on sale before doing my full DLC playthrough:)

I voted for the Battlefield DLC.

That being said, you couldn't really have gone wrong with any of the choices. I just already had all the ME2 DLC already.

I feel like more than half of the CAG community is hoping for the ME2 DLC solely in case the Arrival is included.

I can't be the only on who bought all the DLC on sale and haven't even booted the game yet after buying them.

Ah heck with it. I probably won't play Torchlight since I beat it on the PC but I picked it up anyway to support Runic.

I moved my copy of ME2 into like the forefront of my 'currently playing' games, but it is yet to be played since I bought all the DLC when it was on sale last.

So no, you are most certainly not the only one.
I'm looking for Beyond Good & Evil or that Alice original PC game hopefully one day
To play American McGee's Alice you need the Alice: Madness Returns disc (at least as it is right now).

The only one of those I'm interested in is Undead Nightmare, and I played that ages ago.
DR2 didn't hold my interest. The setting just wasn't as good as the first's.

Did I write this because you said EVERYTHING I was thinking LOL!

I forgot all about Twin Blades. Couldn't remember why I didn't buy get it, but if it's 400, that would be why. Here's hoping that hits 80.

Also, I hope more than just that is on sale. L4D DLC is nice, but I could really use the sacrifice.
The following games are on sale but have no price yet:
Red Dead Undead Nightmare Collection
Dead Rising 2: Case West
L4D2 The passing
Stubbs the zombie
Twin blades.
Awesome, missed out on Case West last time because I hadn't played Dead Rising 2 at that point. Will pick it up now. :)

Already have the Red Dead DLC on disc and bought the Passing when it was released, and I'm not particularly interested in the other two, so I'll probably pass on 'em.

Where did you see about this weeks deals btw?

Blech I got my hopes up when I saw Twin Blades but it's an indie game so no achievements not interested. Already own the Dead Rising content so there really isn't anything of interest to me this week. Maybe we'll get lucky with a double sale this week.
Did I write this because you said EVERYTHING I was thinking LOL!
Yeah seriously, and its still bugging me now. I do like the mods on PC and the XBLA text is really small, hurts my eyes when Im chilling on the couch.

Again, nothing for me this week, already got Case West last time. Barely played it really. I traded my DR2 in anyways, and the CW is a nice little piece if I ever get the inch to play it. IDK something about DR2 didnt grab me.

tempted by undead nightmare collection for 1000MSP, but i never got round to buying red dead in the first place, so i might wait for a complete package

twin blades is good, have it on my phone (with achievements) i bloody suck at it, and it being an indie game on XBLA, i wont be getting it

oh well, probably another week i wont spend anything

That's sad.
That's sad.
Not really, like it or not achievements are a selling point and many XBLA games are bad enough that it becomes their only selling point.

Heck, it's one of the main reasons I bought the Mega Drive games I didn't yet own when they were 200 each, despite already having the Ultimate Mega Drive Collection disc. Achievements and pocket change were enough enticement for me to double dip.

But yeah I can go even more shallow regarding Twin Blades. It's an Indie Game, so not interested.

(Note, "Indie Game" =/= indie game.)

Hmm, picked up Case Zero last time for 200 but not Case West, maybe I'll get that this time, had fun with Case Zero (though as I understand it, I should play the original Dead Rising, which has been sitting in my backlog for a little while, before playing Case West).

I love that they included an indie game on the sale, there are some great games there and you guys should really check some of them out. GS is a mind****.

Left 4 Dead, the fucking Passing? Thats been out for over a year, and been on sale before. Why couldn't they put The Sacrifice on sale? That's been out for 9 months now, and has never been on sale.
While I'm on the topic of repeat sale items, Red Dead Undead Nightmare Collection and Dead Rising 2: Case West have both been on sale before. Case West was just a DotW 2 months ago. Seriously, who the fuck comes up with these?
