Sorry, sorry I wasn't thinking. I wasn't using it to refer to Jews in any negative light, I was using it as a slang term along these lines.

But that doesn't make it okay, I apologise profusely for any offence cause and will change my post immediately.

Also jipped comes from JIP which means joined in progress. Jipped is not completely a derivative of gypped.

It's funny how jipped and gypped are two words that are spelled differently yet sound the same and mean the same thing.

Just so long as you aren't using the term as a cutesy way to display the, unfortunately all too common, hip anti-semitism of the internets then use whatever you want. You don't become racist just for saying one of them bad words. If you didn't mean it that way, you didn't mean it that way and no reader in the world can override what you meant.

Of course, the rest of the world tends to have quite a bit more fun with the banned words and deciding what you meant so the logic doesn't always stick.
 
Huh, turns out "gyp" is actually in the dictionary meaning "to swindle, cheat", although I had used the jipped spelling hoping to evade any more offence instead of digging myself a bigger hole. Alas, we're getting off topic, my bad.

Boy, I sure hope Capcom jumping the gun on the Final Fight sale means we get some more XBLA deals next week!

Why is everyone complaining. If you really care about colors on fake guns then by all means spend your hard earned cash on it, if not then don't. What if COD decided that they would start charging for the camos on their guns. Knowing activison the prices would also be the same.

Funny thing... Microsoft Studios is a PUBLISHER, not the developer. Epic develops the game including any/all DLC (including a minute unlock code for a color on a fake gun). Do developer and publisher have to collaborate/agree on DLC prices/arrangements? My guess would be that they probably do collaborate, but I do not know. Either way Microsoft did not "bully" Epic into these decisions, because Microsoft cannot MAKE the content that they are selling. Epic did this, make them pay for it.

Sometimes I think people aren't stupid enough to buy things like this, but then I see people buying $15 mappacks, spending real money on fake avatar clothes, and spending $40 for Tiger Woods courses on day 1 and I realize just how doomed we all are once everything goes digital distribution. Think about the ratio of digital sales (of content you want, not filler bullshit) to physical sales. Physical sales are more diverse, more frequent, and larger than the sales seen on XBL, PSN, and whatever joke Nintendo has for their store.

It makes me sad to think that at some point 15% off retail is going to be considered a steal due to the lack of available buying options :cry:
 
Microsoft can and does step in and override prices sometimes, even when they are not the publisher. I think it's most common when they partially bankrolled the project though.

Anyway, complaining about weapon skin prices would be silly since they're completely optional and they obviously have no impact on the gameplay. People do pay inflated prices for preorder DLC on eBay, so it's probably a way for them to get money from that crowd and cut out the middlemen. Hurts nobody since again, the content is for showing off online and nothing else.
 
Who's making the Jews vs. Gypsies game on XBLA? Is it the same team behind Slavery: The Game?
I assume that's the discussions. Too hard to flip back a page and read.

I wish those last two Hot Pursuit add-ons would drop just once.

Not that I'd buy skins of any kind that only change the look ever, but don't they pretty much have to be on disc or in a title update or compatibility pack or something or no one else online would be able to see them??
 
Yeah, of course they have to be either on the disc or in a title update. I don't see how that lowers their value in any way. The value is inherently low to most of us because they're purely bling and serve no other purpose. But people who really like to stand out in online games may be willing to pay those prices even if they seem silly to everybody else.
 
So I'm guessing we were right in assuming they'd pretty much rehash every sale they've done + LA Noire stuff? I'm considering San Andreas even though I have it for PS2, but the original Xbox version has to be cheaper, right? It's not like there's achievements or anything.

+1 to those hoping there's a Capcom sale next week, but I'll gladly settle for Final Fight 50% off. Really hope some other Capcom goodies share a discount though, I'd settle for MvC2 half-off or some SF game half-off.

i promise you ALL the guns were the same price (240 msp). some friends and i even made fun of that (and they were in the UK so it was 240 for all gears3 guns there, too).
 
Get mad about it being on a disc all you want, but you don't actually own anything on the disc - only a license to play the game. Does anyone ever even bother to read the EULA?

That being said, those prices are ridiculous :rofl: Please make sure to speak up with your lack of wallet use, my fellow CAGs. The only way these companies will stop these shenanigans is if you hit them in the only place that matters to them - their bottom line.

So don't buy the season pass either. Also perhaps, don't buy the game. I'm still debating on whether to buy the game now or later on. Only difference is that i'll be ranked up high if I buy it @ launch but even then, it's the final Gears in the series so it's not like COD or Madden where they put a new one out every year so there will be plenty of time and XP events to rank up quicker later on.
 
Wow that stuff about the GOW3 skins are crazy. I won't be buying them and really do not care but I just think it is in poor poor taste to charge that type of money. Epic and Cliff B. know there are some hardcore fans out there (just look at all the tats Cliff posts on his Twitter account) who will pony up this cash. It just reeks of exploitation to ask the people who have made you so much money to pony up this kind of cash for something that did not cost them much to make.

It's a business and their goal is to make money. Don't like it? Don't support it. They really don't need your support and will continue to be a business despite the complaints of fans and customers both past and present. I get why people on this site won't buy the DLC or anything like that, but to continually bitch and bitch is a waste of time. You're not going to change anything and Cliffy B. really could care less.

Thanks man I really needed that, glad you were here to talk me off the edge. I was not "bitching" as you say. I was only pointing out the how exploitative I thought these prices were. You actually took the time to "bitch" about the bitching so I am not sure where you think what you wrote is any more useless.

The whole its a business thing is BS also. Cliffy B talks all the time about how AAA titles are ruining video games and yet they charge $45 for some skins...money people might spend elsewhere.

So do spend it elsewhere. Those skins are targeting a very particular, very silly audience, and they're easy money for the company. It doesn't hurt anybody anywhere, so there is very little reason to complain.
 
I actually decided not to get GoW3 so it doesn't matter to me (Skyrim and MW3 no doubt will occupy any and all my freetime outside of work), but 3600 space bucks for wha-wha-whaattt? that's crazy talk...I hope they sell a lot because now you know who to t-bag excessively in MP and who to just frag and forget. I don't know which is worse, that or the Crimson Alliance prices for each class.

those skins better looks like you're wielding Master Chief wielding Thor wielding his hammer.
 
What is it with this thread in particular with people who like to shout down or complain about people who post their opinion/displeasure about DLC prices? Almost any other thread people are allowed to say things like this games is worth $60 or $30 or $10 yet when someone says DLC is not worth X.XX amount or that they are charging too much or it should be included IN the game people get defensive. It is both people who pay these prices AND those people who think DLC is always a justified practice that keep pushing more and more of these types of practices.

CAG is a place to find deals on video games. If we cannot agree that $45 skins are a bad direction for our games then I am not sure why you visit this site. It may be optional but that does not make this any less disgusting.

The fact they have announce $75 in DLC for a game that cost $60 before it was released should make any CAG worried about the future of cheap gaming.

@crushtopher...I am not trying to be an butt but you don't quote someone and talk about people bitching and then say you were not directing it toward the person you quoted.

god you guys are spamming the shit of this thread lately with all these rants. Just plain and simple if you want it go ahead and buy it, if not save that money for something else. You can't hate on epic for this. Their trying to get more money, can you hate on people trying to hussle and get more money.
 
I like DLC for the most part, I think something like wpn skins and alternate costumes are a great idea but as a CAG sometimes the prices just don't hit my price point. I'll support DLC and their prices if I love the game and will frown upon and not support those I don't feel will enhance the game enough for me to want to continue to play.

If Capcom was more upfront about exactly what the bonus content was for anyone who owned a copy of SFIV when they announced SSFIV, I think I would have been more inclined to purchasing alternate outfits...ontop of the ones I already did.

I give credit to GoW3 for at least announcing their prices openly and exactly what you're getting....you also know those prices will come at a discount down the road, as well as us finding deals on MS points to spend on discounted DLC.

edit: I heard some of the GoW3 skins profits were going to charity...which is why they are charging so much currently.

What's disgusting about it? The fact that you can't get those skins unless you pay a silly amount? Or the fact that anyone can get those skins if they feel like paying a bunch for them? Why do you need weapon skins so badly?

Yes, everyone who visits here wants to get deals and save money on games. That does not mean we can't differentiate between useful downloadable content and useless downloadable content. If something is useless or extremely low in inherent value, then why should it bother you if it's selling for a high price? You don't need it; nobody does. If Gears of War 3 suddenly started charging outrageous prices for map packs, then there would be cause for concern. However, that is not the case and this is simply a way to rake in a little extra money from a specific niche crowd.
 
What XBLA games are there from Capcom? I have MegaMan 9, 10, Bionic Commando Rearmed 1 and 2, and Final Fight. So I'm guessing if there is a Capcom sale, there won't be much for me....

Don't forget the Street Fighter games. Street Fighter II Hyper Fighter, Street Figher II HD Remix, Street Figher III: Online Edition, and then there's also Puzzle Figher HD. I'll edit with more if I can remember any other Capcom XBLA games.

I'm still waiting on getting Bionic Commando 2, Mega Man 9, Puzzle Fighter HD, and Street Fighter III: Online Edition to go on sale.
 
Age of Booty, Flock, 1942 Joint Strike, and WOTB: Commando 3 are also from Capcom.

I would buy up Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 and Street Fighter III in a heartbeat if they went on sale.

Outside of the ones you name there are...

1942: Joint Strike, Age of Booty, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, Dead Rising 2: Case West, Flock, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Puzzle Fighter HD, Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, Street Fighter III, Super Street Fighter II HD, and Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3.

Not to mention Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica coming to Games on Demand these coming weeks.
 
Capcom also has some Smash TV clone set in space whose name I can't recall at the moment. That really needs to go on sale and I'm surprised it hasn't been delisted honestly.

I haven't seen Flock mentioned in any of the replies, but according to Wikipedia that's a Capcom game too.
