Gamer SDP - I haven't seen any site out there that has chronicled all of the game performances with USB installation. From the articles I've read, though, it seems like the act of installation will take 1.5 times longer to USB as opposed to HDD but the performance times when running the game have a 1-2 second fluctuation at the most. In other words, you can use this guide for HDD performance and apply it to USB performance just fine.

I understand why Halo 3 is unable to install/run better because of something to do with memory cache on the harddrive. Is it the same issue with / does anyone know why Namco Museum Virtual Arcade and Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged Volume 1 are not supported at all?

I posted this on the general thread on this forum, but it's probably much more relevant here:

incase anyone is wondering, i did a small test with the xbox 360 branded sandisk 16gb usb stick for it's read speed.

I checked to see the load time of an ondisc song of Rock Band 2 by pausing "Drain You" (in vocal mode) and selecting 'New Song' (timing it from the actual song select screen to the song "Drain You" wasn't consistent).

installed to Hard Drive was 3 to 4 seconds.
installed to USB was low 5 seconds.
Disc was high 5 seconds.

Also testing it's speeds using HD Speed program yielded about 18seconds. To get more accurate readings on speed I might have to reformat the stick for Windows use which I'll probably do later on.

Also, installing the game in the first place to the USB was abysmal.

If anyone has any suggestions on testing the flash drive, let me know. I probably will be returning it fairly soon.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is a 5.2gb install. Sorry, I don't have any loading time stats, though I'd estimate it's a 1-3 second improvement. And quiet, obviously.

Figure I'd throw this in here.

Man, I need a bigger Xbox hard drive unless I decide to standardize on Playstation. I can have a single disc installed at a time, which normally works fine, but Mass Effect 2 has had me swap to the second disc...and now swap back, meaning I've had to install three discs worth (and I basically have to go back and rewatch stuff that was running off disc, and was all choppy and awkward...hopefully will run better when I get disc one back on my drive).

Just for fun, I went ahead and broke down the stats for the HDD Install & Load list. This is how everything stands as of this post so any new games released after today or any stats after today won't be reflected here:

There are 564 games listed here out of a rough total of 711 disc-based games released worldwide. The community at large has chronicled the Install information and (in most cases) load performance for 79% of the Xbox 360 titles released to date.

87 games on the list still display the old install sizes (sizes gathered before the August 2009 dashboard update).

124 titles on the list do not contain any load time results.

141 titles on the list have experienced no significant decrease on load times after a HDD install (White Label).

126 titles on the list have experienced minimal decrease on load times after a HDD install (Blue Label).

150 titles on the list have experienced a significant decrease on load times after a HDD install (Green Label).

16 titles on the list either experience a gain on load times after a HDD install or fail to install at all (Red Label).

Keep it up, community! We've done a damn good job on chronicling something that has proven to be quite useful for every 360 owner out there but with the constant influx of titles coming in as well as over 100+ older titles we haven't touched yet, we still have some work to do.

thanks, dumlaox.

I was able to jot down some initial Dead Rising 2 DVD load numbers as well. My numbers aren't finalized yet, but the disc-load time from dashboard to title screen was somewhere around 43 secs. How are you timing your numbers? And I'm also trying to record the numbers where the majority of loads would happen, such as between areas. I'll try to get my numbers for HDD reads soon.

to all, great thread!

I basically look for the first sign of a load screen and time that only. I find it more precise, IMHO, than calculating total dash to title stuff since save loads, DLC checks, and update checks kinda muck it up for me. I mostly go for a new game test or quick match test but initial load screens and title screen loads are fair game also.

I see your point; well put. I was also thinking along those same lines; DLC checks, title updates, etc.

Here are my results:

For Dead Rising 2 (6.1 GB), with all four DLC packs (psycho, ninja, soldier, sports fan), and with Case Zero; all title updated while connected to LIVE.

From DVD:
Start up (from dashboard to title screen) - 41.3 sec
1st load (title screen to first cinematic) - 20.2 sec
Load to 1st Platinum Strip cinematic - 31.0 sec

From HDD:
Start up (from dashboard to title screen) - 33.8 sec [7.5 sec improvement, or 18% decrease in time]
1st load (title screen to first cinematic) - 17.4 sec [2.8 sec improvement, or 14% decrease in time]
Load to 1st Platinum Strip cinematic - 27.2 sec [3.8 sec improvement, or 12% decrease in time]

I don't normally install my games to HDD, but since I've learned DR2 had ridiculous amounts of load screens practically everywhere (very true); I'd figure this exercise was worthwhile. Taking those 3-4 sec savings and multiplying them by their frequency and the net benefit was obvious. I also noticed my 360 was not as toaster hot, since the drive wasn't spinning like nuts. [this was my first full-game install]

doesnt help much, but :

Kinect Sports - 3.3gb

Dance Central - 1.6gb !!!

Kinect Joy Ride - 1.5gb

Kinect Adventures - 4.5gb

TRUTH OR LIES..................... [1.7 GB]

Game has almost no loading time either way, but the announcer won't shut up and takes forever to read off a question, so you can't go any faster if you wanted to.
