Xbox One - General Discussion Thread
are you in the june preview update? I think currently it's only working for people in the june update, but they're working on it.
http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status
I'm not sure if you're in the June Early Update program but that may be the problem. I think the Games with Gold changes require the update to be playable. I know Microsoft Twitter has said they're aware of the issue and investigating it fwiw.
I see. Guess I just gotta sit tight. Thanks.

Call it what you will, but that's a very narrow, offensive and - dare I say - childish opinion to call it childish. It's called being fiscally responsible, by putting money towards things of greater import and value.

Making the assessment that it'd be smart for ME to wait is MY opinion and hardly a complaint; there is plenty last-gen to play, and plenty from way before that, too. Could just as easily enjoy previous gen stuff. I love me some Dead Rising 3, but waiting a year is no great loss. If you're going to disvalue and attempt to attack me because my opinion doesn't align with yours, there is a good place for you to stick it.

Argument that I/we can enjoy the console for a year is quite flat when most of the best titles slated for this year have been pushed back to 2015. The resolution bump isn't that big of a deal and is frequently non-existent.

Mordor may be the breakout title, in this sense, as the X1 version is said to include the Nemesis system in a way the 360 can't (or doesn't). So, at least there is something - for me (and others of like mind) - to look forward to. THIS year.
I meant that kind of complaint in general is childish, not your specific comment. But I know I wasn't clear on that, so my bad.

With any gaming item (and even movies, tablets, etc.) you buy, there will always be price drops and such. The early adopters never get the best deal; we pay more, the consoles we get are bulkier and use more power,we don't get pack-in games, the hard drives are smaller, etc etc. It's something that anyone who has played games for long enough knows and understands. So whenever someone stands up and shouts, "Hey! I could have waited till next year to buy this new system and I would have saved $100 or whatever and there'd be more games to play when I got it!" it's a huge non-revelation.

As has already been pointed out, the benefit of being an early adopter is you get to use the new product while everyone else sits and waits. With online games, you also get to enjoy the most active multiplayer community before the community eventually dies down (though also a ton of bugs and issues with some games like Battlefield 4). If someone is highly concerned with his backlog, then why is that dude thinking about playing next gen games instead? Not logical.

The other reason to buy a new console right away - regardless of whether games are still coming out on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 - is for increased fidelity. Higher resolutions, better frame rates, improved textures and effects, faster loading times... People who bought a new system right away are probably ready for these things. They're a little tired of games having largely peaked technically on the old systems and want their games to run a little nicer. These players don't care if Mortal Kombat X and Forza Horizons 2 come to Xbox 360 because the version they'll be playing will be better. Some people are happy with DVDs, while others want Blu-rays because they're nicer; it's the same mentality.

Those are the two real reasons to get a new console at launch, other than really wanting a specific title. If one or both reasons don't apply to you, then choosing to buy the new console was never going to make you happy. These things work on cycles and it's the same every time a new generation starts.

I came to CAG as a poor student.  I am now not poor, but still consider myself a CAG.

With that being said, I bought both the PS4 and Xbox One on day one.  Because despite being a Cheap Ass, I am first and foremost a gamer.  The cost was worth it to me, and still is.  Why?  Because I game.  That's my hobby.

Well, that and guns . . . but that's something entirely different.  ;)

East, it's like I just spoke with the man at the top of the mountain. Very well said indeed.

FYI the Smartglass app has also been updated, with a big activity feed on the home screen as well as those dynamic pins.

Major Nelson has stated more than 45 new apps will be coming to the Xbox One and Xbox 360 over the year including a deeply integrated Twitter App, built for TV Vine App, HBO GO, Crunchyroll, NBA and NHL, and many more. Full list is below as well as a video talking about the Twitter app.

I just came to post this haha.

This is such great news! The app list on the x1 is a little underwhelming so I am excited to see what all is coming. Twitter and Vine is cool I guess but HBO GO is going to be huge for a lot of people.

I'll take that.

The mountain speech, though, yikes - I'll nicely assume that was for anyone who didn't already know all that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but - not counting sports titles, which we all would have assumed anyway - aren't there way more cross-gen releases this go-round than in previous generations?

Here's hoping we get some E3 game reveals for this year.

By the time HBO Go finally makes it to Xbox One the current season of Game of Thrones is gonna be over lol.
Good news indeed, get all this non-games stuff out before E3, I like it.

Well, since the app won't be on the system before Sunday, you're right.

The Twitter integration looks awesome. Exactly what it should be.

According to Phil Spencer the June update gives developers more access to system resources. This is likely from them allowing developers to access more of the resources Kinect usually uses.

Can't wait to see some gameplay videos of Forza Horizon 2, I want to see how the visuals compare to Drive Club. I find it interesting that both games have the same resolution and FPS but Forza is an open world game which is usually more taxing on resources to run.

another racing game that is flying under the radar is Project Cars. It's multiplat and I think it has a 2014 release, but i'm not sure.

here's a Project Cars gif

Are they still calling it that, I thought Project Cars was like the codename. Yeah it's been on my radar for some time. The game looks great.

I'm not a soccer fan, but that looks cool . . . and good use of the Xbox brand logo!  Ha.

For the youngins that use that twit app . . . or whatever.  ;)

I hate twitter, but maybe I'll start using it for something other than telling people when I'm Twitch streaming . . .

Yeah I already get NHL through my Xbox, if I could add Soccer and Football, that's all I want. Since last E3 they said they partnered with the NFL, I'm optimistic to believe that I can watch NFL games without a cable subscription but for a subscription through them like how MLB and NHL are doing things. I have no idea about soccer but when I was going to school I subscribed to UEFA through their website and I could watch condensed matches which was awesome.

So despite the poor review I ended grabbing Murdered: Soul Suspect. I have to say so far the game is really good, I definitely don't understand the reviews it received. I'm not exactly sure how far I am through it, but right now I'd say it's at least a 7/10 in my book. That may go higher or lower depending on how the story continues, and how long it ends up being.

yeah i seen people play on twitch im not sure why the hate for game looks fun and story seems good.

Thanks for the comment on Murdered, Shade. I'm curious about that one and the reviews made me shy away from it. Maybe I'll get it once I get through some of my backlog.

From E3 2013:

The actual game looked like an up-res version of the PS3/Xbox 360 version, which was nothing like the screenshots they put out at E3.

the replays do look like that the game play no it does not. But the game over all played much better then it ever did on ps3/360.

Are you sure you knew everything I said about new gen consoles? It was your complaint that started the discussion.

To answer your question, here's a list of all the cross-gen games released for the Xbox 360 during its first year - from November 05 to November 06, in order of release:

 1. FIFA

 35. Tiger Woods 07
 36. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent
 37. Cars
 38. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
 39. Phantasy Star Universe
 40. FIFA 07
 41. Need for Speed: Carbon
 42. Blitz: The League

And with sports titles removed:
 1. Gun
 2. NFS Most Wanted
 3. Call of Duty 2
 4. Tony Hawk's American Wasteland
 5. King Kong
 6. Fight Night Round 3 (debatably a sports title, not annualized though)

 11. Battlefield 2: Modern Combat

 19. The Godfather: The Game
 20. Open Season
 21. Samurai Warriors 2
 22. Just Cause

 24. Cars
 25. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
 26. Phantasy Star Universe
 27. Need for Speed: Carbon
 28. Blitz: The League
 29. Call of Duty 3

Note that cross-gen releases continued throughout 2007 as well, but I didn't feel like spending more time on the list.

The new Smart Glass is pretty amazing. Giving you a universal remote to control your TV, Receiver, etc. Baffles me why people still shit on the X1, it's such an awesome overall device.

Anyone know how to edit your pins in smart glass? Can't find it.

Yeah, its a nice feature the Wii U has.

But i mean, if people don't care about that kinda stuff I understand why they dont like it.

Yeah I understand that. Maybe it's an age thing.

I'm 34, my "media" stuff is basically the center of my time when I'm not working or exercising. There isn't much I can ask for at this point, other than Apple buying the Xbox One and my phone iPad and Mac also running through it lol.

Honestly my biggest issue was that I had to have the Xbox One on all the time if I wanted to watch TV. I really hope at some point they add a by pass for that. I know I could just get a switch and do it that way but I already have to many switches with a PS4, PS3, Wii U, Cable and 360 lol.

As long as it isn't red ring defective like the 360, it's fine with me it's on. A pass through would not let you flip from tv to youtube to skype etc and that's what I find so appealing. Again, this is just me.

I'm of the opinion the more options for people the better. In hindsight a Kinect-less option should have been there from day 1 even though I can't imagine the system without it.
