This doesn't really make sense- the gap between low end pc boxes and consoles is thinning but for the value the pcs are a no brainer. Which games does Xbox have that MS hasn't already parasitized with PC versions? I'm being serious here- help me understand why I'd choose this over a pc.

This isn't a replacement for the Xbox1S. It's very much an extension to the developers to have at it in their imagination and put out software that can use this hardware.

I'm not a PC Gamer at all so if this machine can produce that looks like Metro and with Microsoft investing in the servers to support the cloud and all multiplayer functionality, I'm down for an upgrade. After all, this site and the community has made it possible for many of us to be Day1 buyers without breaking the bank.

Agree with that. When we see current stuff like witcher 3 on this, if we get to, then maybe we get a version minus the sacrifices made to have a playable game. That should sell me.
 
Also, I think we'll have a Wii/WiiU type situation on our hands with the naming of this console. Sounds too similar to the lesser version, I think they should have kept Scorpio.

I kind of felt the same way. I mean it's not near as bad as parents thinking it's an add-on and skipping it entirely...but I can imagine some parents thinking....well this S is bigger AND is cheaper....

 
I had already completed Witcher 3 and was about to work on the complete edition for another achievement completion, but I'll wait to play it in it's 4k glory when the x comes out :D

I get why it's 500. I don't want to build a gamer PC and I have a 4k HDR tv. So this is a great option for me. I watched the presentation in 4k and the non indie games looked insane. So if you are hating on it u luckily got some options. One being dont buy it

When the One was revealed, within minutes people started calling it XBONE. In an interview a while later, a Xbox exec said something like "yes, well, we didn't expect that and it was unfortunate"

There is really is no reason at the moment to choose a Microsoft console over a PC unless you like building your gamerscore. I'm not getting an XBone X until MS shows me some jaw-dropping exclusives.

You buy the Xbox X... how long before MS release their 4th generation console.  I'm sticking with the switch and a pro for now.  I don't event have a 4k TV and I don't know when I'll pick one up.  I may rethink my stance, if GS offers a deal I can't refuse on an Xbox One trade in.

Reason #1: I don't want to buy a pc and worry about upgrades or specs.
 
As someone who doesnt have a 4K TV yet, this middle jump between gens is a really tough sell. Does Horizon Zero Dawn look THAT much better in 4k? It's already incredible

That's kinda my issue. Honestly I don't think my eyes perceive the difference. The only thing where I could see a difference was on Anthem. Horizon Zero Dawn looks amazing and so does Gears of War 4 on an S. How much better is this stuff supposed to look?

Edit: I have a 65 inch Samsung S8000.
