ZACK & WIKI! 300k Sold! BUY!!! $29.99 Now! IGN: 9.0! 1UP: 9.0! NP: 9.0! GS: 8.5!

Not too sure about this one. I've got Dewy to buy in September, and Phantom Hourglass and GHIII the buy in November. This one might have to be passed over, especially since I don't even know the genre.

It's adventure. I'd imagine it's a bit like Grim Fandango.

You're crazy, Dewy should be a $20.00 dollar game. I'm getting Zack over it for sure. ;)

No, Zack should be $20. Dewy looks much more interesting IMO. I probably won't touch this until it hits $30 at least, after reading about it on IGN.

Wrong. Zack looks infinitely better than Dewy.
Not I. I've seen enough to know this is a Day One buy for me.

EDIT: Box art ahoy!

that box art looks nice
I feel so bad for you. ;)
We'll feel sorry for you when you pay full price for Dewy, and it turns out to be crappy!

That's right! I said it!

I can't honestly believe Dewy will be crap. Just that Z&W will be much better. ;)
Wrong. Zack looks infinitely better than Dewy.
Frankly, I think they both look good, but I think Zack & Wiki will have infinitely more depth to the gameplay. Dewy, while pretty, is fundamentally just a marble tilt game with some meterological effects added to the mix. Zack & Wiki finds an infinite number of ways to use the remote, but more importantly, uses those techniques to augment what looks to be a very sound adventure game structure filled with complex and diverse puzzles. I think there will be more meat on the bones.

I have Dewy preordered in full (Trade 2 Get 1 free Wii deal from a few weeks back) but I'm considering switching it for Z&W and getting the $10 back on my Edge card. Or just cancelling it entirely and waiting on both. Man, it's times like this when I really wish I could get advance reviews. I'm sure we'll see nothing on these games review-wise until after they are released.
Ooooooooooooooookay.

Well, at least there's a lot of game footage.
Can't be helped... for some reason, the Australian trailer had to be released.
The latest version of EGM has an E3 wrap-up. This game was mentioned in the "So so" category.
EGM is reputed Wii haters. According to the latest IGN weekly people are digging this game.

EGM are really shitty when it comes to Wii reviews/impressions, they were giving Mario Strikers: Charged bad reviews and saying the controls sucked where else everyone else was positive about the game!

I appreciate EGM for reinvigorating the Okami to Wii rumors, but I otherwise hate them for their consistently backhanded treatment of the Wii. And seeing as they're the ONLY media outlet I've heard offer less than glowing remarks about Zack & Wiki (IGN, Kotaku, and even crotchety old GameSpot have had nothing but raves for it), I'm just going to chalk this up to their chronic Wii hate.

IGN has probably played the game more than anyone right now, including quite a bit SINCE E3, so I think they're the best judge of the game's potential at this point.
Both Dewy's and this look "teh kiddy"
So did you but your mother didn't throw you out in the trash, did she? ;)
The latest version of EGM has an E3 wrap-up. This game was mentioned in the "So so" category.
They also have Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 in the so-so category, and if it is anything remotely close to the first, then that is flat out wrong.

They also have Killzone 2 in the good category, yet in the same issue (actually only 1 page away listed as Dumest A.I. at E3) they are saying how horrible the AI is.

They also have Metroid Prime 3 in the good category (not Awesome) yet look at it's reviews.

Not saying this will be a perfect game, but as always, the early stuff really doesn't matter. Look at all the big 5 page previews these magazines do on games saying how good they will be, and how innovative they are and then how badly they turn out to be.

EGM are "tEh h3rDc0rEz". Unless a game has "extreme weaponry" and "badass" lead characters, you'll rarely find them giving it an enthusiastic recommendation. I wouldn't get too wrapped up in their "impressions" of unreleased Wii titles.

Both Dewey and Z&W look great, but they are different games. Dewey is more of an action platformer, while Z&W looks like thoughtful puzzler wrapped around an interesting story. They probably complement each other well.

Yes, yes she did. :whistle2:(

I've not had a problem with it yet as I've been very underwhelmed by the Wii so far. Only Zelda, Metroid and SPM were purchase worthy to me, and SPM was medicore IMO.

The Zack and Wiki stuff doesn't upset me either as I've never liked the genre...but they should give it a fair shake if it is a good adventure game.

At any rate, I will be annoyed if they keep it up, as comments on graphics etc even in the great games like Metroid are getting old (i.e. see Shane Bettenhausen in the lastest 1up Show). The game library is starting to shape up this fall, so they will soon have no excuse for the negativity.
It's just that you and Rolento are always killing my wallet, with your threads informing me of awesome games and such. ;)
At least I helped you skip Manhunt 2. ;)

i would love to have a demo for this game and so some of these puzzles for myself. either on the wii or on some nintendo site. i've been trying to watch too many trailers so the puzzles won't be spoiled.

i'm going to own this game at some point though. i may wait though depending on how much other stuff i'm playing come october and november.

Hironobu Takeshita: No, that was something that we didn't plan at the start. Originally when a player failed they had to go all the way back to the start of the puzzle and try again. When we were focus testing the game in America, many people thought it was too cruel and annoying to force players back to the start of a puzzle. So we decided to include this feature.

So did this game get a lot easier?? I hope not. :(
So did this game get a lot easier?? I hope not. :(

http://wii.ign.com/articles/822/822000p1.html
I don't think it will be a problem. The TGS hands-on implied that the tickets weren't easily earned, therefore to be used sparingly, and if you think it makes it too easy (when it's really just saving you from having to redo everything you've already figured out), you could just not use them.

I like that there are multiple ways to solve some puzzles so there is some replay value there.

Nice! I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't stand having to start at the beginning when I fuck something up. Especially if a particular section is very long, I just end up getting sick of the game and never completing it.

Well with the delay of Endless Ocean I went ahead and preordered ZacknWiki. I just wonder how many copies of this game each GS is going to receive.
You might as well have included that the game has been delayed a week.
Argh... that screws up my schedule a bit. Was hoping that two weeks might give me enough time to finish this before BWii, which I would play until Mario... now I guess everything will be pushed back a bit.

Yay! I'm going to be in Reno for a convention that week anyway. So now I'll get to play it before every post in the thread is
unreadable for newbs
.

Hmm, interesting that it's more of a puzzle game than adventure game (according to Cheapy.) Hopefully this still ends up being good, as I've been looking forward to it. Although it not being like an old-school point-and-click adventure game is disappointing.

I'm willing to forgo the lack of point and click adventure if the game is as fun as it's said to be.
