ZUNE and your X360 - ZUNE HD Now in 64GB - Latest Update Now Supports AVI/XviD
Just a FYI, new Zune 3.0 users are eligible for a 14-day trial of the Zune Pass:

http://www.zune.net/en-us/products/zunepass/14daytrial.htm

I just tried with my existing account and I didn't get the option to click the 14 day trial so its only for new users.
Thanks! I was able to get it to work on my existing account. Now to see if I can listen to half the shit I just d/led (and have yet to d/l) in 2 weeks time...

Oh, and maybe like the podcasting automatically stopping thing, there might be a solution to my question. I also listen to my Zune as I sleep, but as I increase my "sleep time" playlist, it drains the battery more as it stays on till all songs are played. Is there an auto-off feature that kicks in after so many minutes of no button pressing? This seems to be yet another feature I sorely miss from my iriver H320...

Ive searched for it already and no luck..theres a electro dance channel .. but no Goth/Industrial >:[...

another useless update. Instead of fixing any proper usability issues, all they did was add more crap for you to spend money in their marketplace.

Oh well, at least they finally put in drag and drop, only took them a year.........
I really regret buying the 2nd gen zune when it first came out. It's pathetic how the software makes Itunes look fantastic. You still can't even play Music via the Device in the zune software on this thing, making it utterly useless on trips w/ my notebook.

Also you still can't sort by more than 1 column, pretty pathetic since itunes and even excel has allowed you to do this for ages................

Well I tried the new audiobooks feature but the free book they give you is over 30gig in size and I have an original zune 30 so I can't really see how it works given it won't fit on my zune.
Anyone know anyway to fix this issue?
Thanks

Okay, I don't know what the hell happened, but since the update, most of my music out of my playlists is missing. It's all there in my collection, it says it's all there when I connect my Zune to the software, but when I disconnect and go out, the playlist is culled from 531 down to 170.
I saw the Zune pass thing last night. Is that good for TV shows and stuff, or just music?
It's only good for music. But it's well worth the monthly fee of $15.

I'd say sync it up again. I had the same problem after I updated. But if it says 100% complete or is up to date, you might need to un-sync then re-sync them. It was weird on both the 30 GB and 4 GB for me.

And I didn't get the 120 GB yet. I think it'll be available in B&M stores on Sunday.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but The Zune Marketplace has a bunch of albums on sale for 390-530 points. Most are on sale at 460 points, which is $5.75.

To find the sales albums from Zune Marketplace go to playlists. There will be a playlist there featured that is named Back to School Sale. This playlist has a sampling of songs from the albums that are on sale. From each song in the playlist you can right click and view album details. This will take you to the sale items. I don't have access to the Marketplace right now, but off the top of my head the following artists were there:

Foo Fighters
Incubus
Pearl Jam
Modest Mouse
MGMT
Coheed & Cambria
The Offspring

There are no details on when the sale started or when it will end. With the deals I get on points these are a better deal than the $5 deals Amazon has been running on weekends. I personally picked up an MGMT and C&C album.

Is there anyway to have the Zune NOT automatically look up song info for you? I edit the MP3 tags myself so it kills me whenever there's a Zune update because it re-edits all of it.

EDIT: Also to find the on sale albums...just umm scroll down on the Zune Music Marketplace front page to the part where it says "Back to School Sale" Um. Yeah.

It somewhere on the main page of the software settings. I told it to stop looking up metadata since it mostly froze and put the wrong album covers on songs. Now I've got something like 1000 songs with the wrong album covers and can't delete them.

I have mp3 tag. I manage to get through maybe 10 at a time before I get sick of it. I have a little over 5000 songs.

Find Album Info has never worked for me. Hell, even when I ripped legit CDs into the Zune software, it always grabbed the wrong data and I would have to go back and write in all the correct info by hand.

Is anyone else having trouble running the user made games on their zune since the update? They're still on my zune but my zune crashes and then reboots back at the main screen when I try to play them.

Hmm. Weird. I'm near 7,000 and only a maybe, 100 or 150 were screwed up before I got mp3tag.

I'm pretty sure they are waiting for XNA 3.0 or something like that because the current games can't run on the 3.0 firmware.

I'm having major issues with my Zune and synching. I had 5,000 plus songs before. I moved them to new folders on my hard drive. On the first pass I could only get ~1,700 of 6,535 files to sync, so I reset my Zune Collection and completely reset my Zune. I just went to sync again and it only added 1 friggin song. It skipped 6,534 files due to unknown errors.

It seems I was having issues with my Zune thinking it was linked to another computer. I restored my Zune and started from scratch again and it appears to be working now.

I had 2 Zunes with the same name linked to the same PC after I got my refurb back .
I didn't know which one was which .

Oh well , kind of a rare occurance .

How does the Zune software run on Vista ? 2.5 ran really sluggish on XP but now 3.0 runs what I consider great .
Did the upgrade behave the same way on Vista ?

I don't really have a reliable PC to run everything on and I'll most likely end up with a new mild gaming Vista PC .

I got 3.0 on Vista...no issues here.

Also I think my Zune is about to die...the part where you connect the sync cable to charge, seems to be flimsy...it wont' detect connection half the time which means, I can't really charge it :whistle2:|

My iPod dock connector is getting questionable so I quit using it in that way .

I don't want it to go bad and not be able to synch it .

I love my Zune now .

This update is pretty sweet. I don't know if the old version did it, but I love how they show all of the album covers when a song is playing.

they always displayed the album covers:lol:

Argh. I can't get the audio book rental from the library to work. I log in, select the books I want, then when I try to check out, it makes me log in again, but my information is always wrong.

 That shows you how much I used my zune before!

I may have royally screwed up, but I'm looking for advice from other Halo Zune owners.

Some of you may remember in the 2.0 and 2.5 Zune software podcasts would appear multiple times on your Zune, even though they were only on there once. I never did any of the complicated steps to fix the problem so I just lived with it until now.

After the 3.0 software came out, I figured I would try to do a complete wipe and restore of all of my content (did it through the Zune software.) This has fixed the podcast listing problem, but all of the Halo content (Halo 2 soundtrack, Red vs. Blue videos, Halo 3 pictures) is gone.

There's no way to get that back, is there?

You could look through the Zune Knowledge Base for it. The Zune Gems they always give away with new machines are always tucked away in it, so your Halo stuff might be in there too.

And what is the Zune Knowledge base?

I just got and e-mail from Zune saying the zune site sill be down for 48 hours starting 9/29

The Zune service will be down for scheduled maintenance on Monday, September 29, 2008 from 12:01am Pacific Time, for up to 48 hours. During the downtime, Zune Social, the forums on Zune.net, and all of Zune Marketplace will be offline.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause you.

Please check back soon. We look forward to sharing our picks, plays, and recommendations with you in the Zune Social and in Zune Marketplace shortly!

Sincerely,

Your Friends at Zune

Agreed....although, not $280 cool in my book. Very tempting to upgrade my Sansa Fuze to it...although, I have no complaints with what I have. Just small storage, but good enough for work usually.

It's not entirely exclusive to Amazon. Walmart.com is supposed to be doing a pre-order on it as well according to Engadget. I can't find the page for it on the Wal-mart site though.

UPDATE: Found the official Microsoft Press Release on this beastie and it has the link to the Wal-mart preorder page. Can't actually pre-order it from there yet though. More information in this thread http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198795.

Well after this latest Zune update and using my Zune regularly , I never have to consider buying an iPod again .

Anyone on the fence ask us any questions , we'll be glad to help .

It does seem like that, but I have close to 80GB of MP3s, and I need something larger. I want my MP3 player to be like a mobile backup of all my audio.

If the gears 2 zune was a bit cheaper I would probable pick one up to replace my 30 GB version. It looks cool and I wouldn't mind a bigger drive at all but not at that price.

$280 for a 120GB player with Gow2 art. I still think it's a very good deal. I wish I had the bread to do it.

Even if I sold my 30GB and my spare PDA phone, I wouldn't have enough.

finally got around to updating the ol' 80 gig. pretty cool new features. i'm actually considering trying the zune pass. or the free trial at least.
Free pilot episode of 'My Own Worst Enemy' available for download.
I think that show actually looks really good...might have to check it out.

Man. My Zune Software crashes everytime I try to boot it up. If I re-install it, will it remember my past settings for music, artists, playlists, etc. or will I have to set all that ish up again?

Sounds alot like the roblems I had when my Zune was "new" .
I ended up having to send it in for a refurb , and now I've never been happyer with it .

My Zune device works fine. It's my Zune software with issues. It boots up to the last screen I was on, which was apparently the playlist screen. If I try to move from it, it freezes and crashes.

I never knew you could send your software in for a refurb...

Mine keep crashing everytime i try to download the Giant Bombcast. I guess its kinda ironic that my software is blowing up.
