It does have wireless iTunes Store access, that's what I was talking about.

I'd also be intrigued to see if Apple introduces at-home sync as well.

Ah... Ya, I havent opened it yet. Xmas present. But I was playing around with the demo at bestbuy it seems pretty good, but i havent actually tried to buy anything using the iTunes store yet.
 
I guess both are good features, I wish one of them had both.

The wireless sync would be great for me, use the home charger in the bedroom and the USB out to the car.

The iTunes store access would be great on the road if you hear a song you like.
 
So now that the 360 is finally getting divx and xvid support, does that mean we can look forward to the Zune getting it soon as well?
 
So the 30gb Brown Zune that I order from Dell on Black Friday for $100 is still anticipating a delivery date of February 2nd, 2008. So I called dell to see what is going on and of course they pass the buck onto microsoft for not supplying them with enough product. So I tell them its a xmas gift and I wanted them to supply one of the White or Black zunes that were in stock and they pretty much told me no way in hell (I figured there was no chance of this, but figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out). They did tell me I could cancel my order and place an order for a white/black one and they would give me $20 off the 200 price. I told them to shove it.

The only solution they gave me is that they will call me every week after the status of my order updates... great... So I'll be rocking the zune at some point... not anytime soon though. sucks.

I ordered it on black friday after I missed out on the TRU $80 door buster deal. When I ordered it from dell it was in stock and had one week delivery on it. Then after I received the confirming email a few days later they had that BS ship date.

I didn't know any other deals were out there. Good thing is they haven't charged my CC so I can cancel if I see a better deal somewhere. Is anywhere offering this for $100 or less now? I couldn't find anything.
 
Man, the software keeps pissing me off more and more. Even though i have podcasts set as manual syncing, it still automatically syncs them and wont let me delete them from my sync list (takes 10 minutes to convert the stupid things). Also i found out that if you delete something from your library, it also deletes it from the Zune.

I'm waiting for the RROD...
 
Just saw that CompUSA has the brown Zune in their Ad for $99. Unfortunately its B&M only and the only store close to me is sold out.

Actually now that I look at their website they already have an ad correction saying they have extremely limited supply and there will be no restocks/rainchecks so this is big time YMMV. (jeez, I just noticed they had the same disclaimer on all their video game systems. They dont have sufficient stock of 360s and PS3s to back up an ad? This company is going under...)

Hmm, may go check that out right now. I've been waffling between the 30, 80 and 8GB Touch. Will have to see what their return policy is.

I never had this problem with the original software. Its a problem that just started with the new update

Yea, everything is set to Let me choose. Everytime i plug the zune in it starts syncing something. It will let me stop the sync, but it wont let me delete the items on the sync list (so in order to sync anything at all, it makes me put the old items on first.

Actually, I was just an idiot. :D

First Zune I had was slightly charged out of the box, so I never had to charge one from scratch before. This refurb, though, was completely dry, and needed a good 5-8 minutes before it would turn on.

If the battery is completely drained, you'll get a black screen with a battery symbol until it has enough power.
 
I'm starting to really like the Zune, but I don't understand why the Zune marketplace doesn't just host video podcasts that are already converted for the Zune. Why should EVERYONE that downloads a podcast have to convert it. Can't they just convert it once and host that file? Am I missing something here, I feel like I am missing something with the Zune Software. It just doesn't feel right.
 
Argh. If I could find a Best Buy that had a Zune 80 in-stock, I'd just go ahead and get it. That way, if I get BB GCs (which I've asked for) I can use them to buy another one, then return it on the first reciept.

Also, if I decide to go with the 30GB, I have until Jan 31st to return it.

I don't mind the 30GB for $100, I'd just like the ease of returning it to a store.
 
Im still having trouble trying to put songs where they belong...Well mainly two songs out of 5800

For some reason it wont let me change the name of the artist on a particular song. I have "Oh' - Afro Samuarai Soundtrack By The Rza" But its listed under David Bowie!! and ive got "Space Oddity - David Bowie" listed under Ludacris's Beer and Chicken. no matter how many times i try to change the artist i cant find this option, it doesnt exist or its hiding from me.

You have to change it under your collection not under your device. Once you change it in your collecton, it wiill automatically sync/update the device.

The best solution that I've found is this:
- click collection
- click music
- above your albums click on "sorted a-z" until it says "sorted by date added"

It's not elegant (and you can't view your albums this way on the device, unfortunately) but it works for making playlists if you're trying to find your most recent additions.

Not the greatest, but it works, thank you! I wonder if I could bitch at MS to add a "sort by date added" to songs and not just albums.

Now, do I buy that little audio system or not...

I've had a zune since the $150 MSRP(sale.. I guess, since they upped the prices again) dropped.

I friggin love the device, the UI for the Zune is, IMO, way better than that of an iPod (my previous player was a 20gig iPod) -- but the Zune software..? Since the firmware and the forced Zune software update, I can't STAND adding music to the device.

Does anyone have a clue why MS took two steps backwards with the new Zune software? It doesn't even support drag and drop from Windows anymore... Maybe I'm missing a 'classic mode' option or something, but DAMN the software sucks now...

I have one of these. I paid full retail ($100 at my local Target) and I have to tell you I really like it. It's a great charger and the sound quality is OK. I don't use it as a primary stereo--just a dock for my Zune so I can listen to Podcasts while I'm brushing my teeth or showering.

I got lucky and was able to get a 30GB White Zune at Circuit City for $99. No one had the Brown Zune in stock (CompUsa $99). At my last stop tonight (Circuit City) the girl helping me mentioned they were out of Brown Zunes but they had other colors. She let me pick out whichever color they had in stock and had someone change the price to $99.

Really happy right now. I've had the same MP3 player (Gen 1 Dell DJ) for a long time so it's nice to finally get a nice/new one.

I the cheapest case off ebay for like $6 shipped. Come with a screen protector. Cover the whole thing aside from small hole for belt clip. My only problem is that it is like a dust magnet.

I got this one when I bought my Zune...it's good but it's definitely not reasonably priced. And it's not going to fit your 30GB.

In completely unrelated news, I hooked my Zune up to my 360 for the first time tonight...pretty cool. It just pops up as another media source under "Music" and I've got access to everything on my player. Sounds amazing coming out of my 5.1 system, too.

Thanks. I went there about an hour ago and they only had 2 cases. I'm guessing your cases were clearance?

I would order one online but I'm going to Michigan in about 2 weeks. Are there any other B&M stores that sell cheap cases, or are they all in the $25-$30 range?
 
fuck. It's raining here in California and I was running to class and somehow, moisture got into the inside glass of my 80. Now there's 3 streak marks near the middle of the screen. Anyone know how to get rid of them?

It should be covered by the warranty, i know a few people that had their screens cracked, took it to the same place they bought it at and swapped it out for a new one. This should be no different...Unless they exclude Weather damage

Other than that id call Tech support on the Zune manual, they can either fix it for you or tell you how to fix it yourself.

or you can go the third option...smash it against a rock and then clean it.
 
Uhh I was walking home today and when I got to my door, my music suddenly turns off. I look at my Zune and the screen shows the "Zune" logo and a loading bar. It looked like it just restarted for some odd reason. Anyone have an explanation?

Its a common problem that the Zune's have sometimes, Alot of people have the same thing happening to them as well.

Some sort of battery saving function thats been a bit glitchy, Hopefully Microsoft should fix this glitch in the next firmware update.

There used to be a problem when the zune first came out where it would stop playing altogether and wait like 2 or 3 seconds before the next song would play, but it was fixed when the 1.2 firmware came out, so maybe it will only be a temporary problem.
 
Yeah, my Zune does shut off by itself from time to time. At first I thought I was accidently giving it some sort of electric shock since it happened when I would was picking it up. But today, totally out of the blue. Doesn't even restart unless I turn it back on.

How long does it usually take the Zune Cards to update? Seems like it's not wanting to update the stuff I listened to on the player, even after syncing.
