ZUNE and your X360 - ZUNE HD Now in 64GB - Latest Update Now Supports AVI/XviD
It wasn't a scam after all! ;) Mine just came today, and it works great. Still can't believe it's only $5 shipped.
Can't wait for mine to get here tomorrow. I've been rolling with an iRiver FM transmitter for 3 years now...i'm hoping the remote works well cause using an HD in the car blows!

EDIT: damn, thought the channel changer was a remote :(

So here's a question somewhat Zune related.
When the new "Window's Phone 7" phones come out in 5 months or so, does anybody think MS will allow "MS Points" to be used for buying apps?
Just wondering. At this point, I don't know if they've even decided on how they'll run the app marketplace.

While listening to my Zune on shuffle I heard
"Jizz Lobber" by Faith No More,
and then,
"Jizz In My Pants " by The Lonely Island, right after .

I thought I should share that with you guys .

Only thing that would have made it even more awesome would be the third song "Cum Stains on the Pillow" by David Allan Coe
Are there any hardware differences between the 16/32 GB Zune HD and the new 64 GB one outside of a larger hard drive?
Maybe color. Other than that, no.
Check your emails, I got an invite for a Zune survey and they are sending me a $10 Amazon GC for my participation.

Survey takes about 15m.
checked ...both my xbox live and zune accounts are linked so nothing on that end showed up...it will show up.
Has the Zune software improved any or is it still a piece of crap? I really want to get a zune again but I couldn't stand the software.
Download it and check it out . I don't think it's as awful as people think .

Nope its pretty crappy. I had a Zune for literally 3 days last month and sold it because the software couldn't detect all of my songs. Which is complete crap because people always complain that itunes sucks and yet it can at least detect my songs. Then not only could it not detect my songs but it wouldn't put them all on my Zune. I know I'm not alone on this either because I've read about this issue everywhere. The player itself is awesome, except for IE, the software is not.

I love the Zune software. Love it. I've been using it since launch in 2006 and I've had very few issues with it. I've used WMP, Itunes, and MediaMonkey with earlier DAPs and the Zune software is easily the most intuitive and stable.

As long as your songs are mp3's and you tell the software where they are stored, it should detect all of them. I've been using it for years with no problem. Oh, and if they show up in the software they always work on the zune (for me).

Does Zune software have trouble playing VBR mp3s? i think that's the reason i get weird popping and crackling noises at the beginning of songs i try to play in the software, plus the volume is low and then slowly increases. Some mp3s also have real low volume on my Zune HD, i think cause they're VBR maybe? Or maybe The Smiths and The Cure recorded at real low volumes or something...? Seems ok on my PC with Winamp though.

All of my old Smiths and Cure stuff is really quiet. I've always assumed it's just the quality of the original recordings. I don't have any popping/crackling, though...that's really weird. All of my stuff is ripped at 192kbps.

I know Zune supports VBR up to 320kbps. What quality are you ripping at?

Speaking of The Cure: did you see the new 21st anniversary box set of Disintegration that comes out next week? It's wicked sexy.

I just did a random run of a bunch of songs and each one (VBR, 128kpbs, 320 kbps) starts with a loud buzz, with the song kicking in at a low volume at first, then seemingly auto adjusting (it will either quieten if loud, or get louder of soft). Plus it just sounds off, is there no equalizer hidden somewhere? I use winamp with an equalizer plug in, so i'm real used to the way that sounds.

And yeah, i've been seeing rips of the new 3 CD (?!) set online since last week! That's when I realised it was coming out...pretty cool, my 1st and pretty much overall fave Cure album! I never even wanted to listen to them (South Park references always went over my head and I figured I wouldn't like the music for some reason), but that was MONTHS ago ;) now i totally dig. they're my top artist on my zune plays i think (since i switched over to my XBL account, my other account had almost a whole other set of stuff i listened to and burned out on)

All my songs are in one folder. Separated by artist, and album. Ever single song is properly tagged, I made sure myself with MP3tag , and they are all mp3. The zune software just sucks ass. Why can itunes detect all of my music and zune can't? Then not only that but it just randomly deletes album art that I tagged onto all of my songs. The software just sucks and people will not use zune until it gets better.

Does anyone know if you can get the Zune Car Pack v 2.0 to tune in to 87.9? There's a Belkin or Griffin that I think switches into "International Mode" or something like that and you can tune into 87.9 which is a frequency not used in the US meaning I could use the thing on just one station without having to try and find a good signal. I've seen hacks that involve opening the unit, but I don't want to resort to that if there's a simple trick.
I upgraded to a 120GB unit last fall and I still have my 80GB. I'd be willing to sell it for a reasonable price. It's in excellent condition.

PM me if you're interested, Richlough.
PM'ed .

Is it worth the $125 extra to get the 64GB model over the 32GB Zune HD? I want to upgrade from my Zune 30GB since capacity is starting to become an issue and it's rather bulky to be carrying around, but I can't help but feel that that much more just for 32 more GB's of space is way too much.

Also, how much space do pictures take up on the Zune HD? With my 30GB, photos take up only a fraction of what they do on the computer. Is it the same with the Zune HD?

I hope the Zune server maintenance brings something to the Zune and not just 360 features.
Not that I don't want those.

Anyone else curious why the 120 GB Zune does not have an EQ like the 30 GB did ?
Also the screen does not stay lit when it's docked or plugged in [the 30 GB did that].

I don't understand why the newer Zune would have less functionality .

I thought that the EQ went away with one of the updates a while back?

As for the screen not staying lit...you can always change the setting to "always on" while you have it plugged in, but I have no idea why they took that feature out, I liked it too.

argh...something is up with my software... it's saying I have ZERO space on my zune hd 32, yet in the actual hardware I have like 6 gigs left. It's starting to corrupt my album art by either deleting the cover art altogether or having something totally not related in the background of a played track.

I'm going through hell re-rippiong my discs @320. I used the collectionresettool to wipe out my old collection intentionally .

A lot of my cover art is not coming up, and too many of the first tracks on discs are being stored as unknown.
When I was putting in a disc with say 10 tracks it would start ripping and say 1 of 20 !

I was ripping some /most CD's twice!

They showed up in my Zune software collection once but when I synched them to my player there was doulbe tracks for a lot of albums .

I have 3+ Rubbermaid 22 Gallon bin s full of discs and I'm only 2/3 done with my collection.
I'm a little afraid this will continue to happen and it is discouraging me from finishing.

It took about 5 hours to rip 1 bin .

Uh, WTF .

What would happen if I uninstall the software and reinstall it? Will it corrupt/delete my albums already on my computer? I installed the software on vista and xp pro... so far xp pro is showing the correct amount of space on the device while in vista, the zune software is saying I have no space :(

Are you using it on 2 different PC's ?
If you are, you need to adjust the amount of reserved space for other computers.

Settings/Device/Resevred Space

Do this on your main computer that the Zune is assigned to , not the PC where it is a Guest .

Dual boot vista 32/xp pro 32.
Dual boot vista 32/xp pro 32.
The Zune software will tie it to the first PC .

You need to find out which OS has claimed the Zune, and which one it is the guest on.

Boot up Vista and change your amount of 'reserved space' in your device settings .
You shouild be good after that.

Or tell it to forget this device and tie it to your XP OS .
Is anyone else having trouble with the Zune's network? I can't sign in or look for any album data.
Yes , it's intermittent, sometimes I have no problems at all though.

I think they re-routed the CDDB links or something.

Thanks for the heads up!

Though I'm thinking I might have messed up Internet Explorer, since isn't Zune/Windows Media Player tied to that?

Anyone ever have issues with the zune software really hanging when you switch to different menus? It's pretty bad the last couple of days.

I'm on the latest version of the software. I'm running on Windows 7 64bit, with 2 GB of ram. I haven't had any problems like this when I first installed it. I have 36 GB of music. I wonder if there could be an issue with the hard drive beginning to die. I also was checking spybot search and destroy. Under the start up tool, one of the entries was possibly linked to being a trojan. I'm wondering if that could be a false positive, since MSE, Spybot, and Super Antispyware haven't found anything.

They are doing some things with the server causing some issues .

I wish they would let us know what's going on officially .

Probably setting up the Zune music marketplace for 360 .

The Zune software is terribly slow. I can't stand it.

Does anyone know how to switch the name you sign in with? I used the wrong email that has zero plays (and that's not tied to my Zune) and I don't know how to get to the page to sign in with the right email. The wrong email also deleted all the podcasts I had and such, because I guess I used it a long time ago.
In the software click settings, then under that will be account. You can change it under the first option.
Thanks, that did the trick.

Anyone had a problem recently when they synched their Zune that the software redownloaded/resynched all of the files and not just the new ones? On my Zune now I have 3 copies each of some songs, but on others its normal.
