Hard to even see what the deals are and sort through (both in app and online).

If we were talking Best Buy, walmart, etc. I’d say when this is all over you can use them again, the sky isn’t falling.

But we are talking about a company that prior to all this was falling on hard times. I do not see them being propped up with any bailout funds that may be coming either.

I personally cashed out. I was finally able to use my TC, except for $3.91 And a few points.
They could survive, but it’s going to be a very hard road. And with what they have been doing the past two weeks... it may be an even harder road.

Workers have been told to wrap a plastic bag around one hand to protect it from exposure to the virus, open the door a crack, and take the customer’s credit card, the manager said. Employees are then to run the card with a hand still encased in the bag, flip the bag inside out, leaving the card inside, put the purchase in the bag, and hand it back through the door.

Woooow GS....

I love that this acknowledges the large and pointless risk they're taking by claiming they're "essential" while showing that the really don't give a shit about anyone's health over money. This might help employees ever so slightly but it doesn't do a hell of a lot of the idiots doing curbside pickup.

If someone gets a used game is the employee supposed to (or allowed to) bag up while getting the case and digging through the disc drawer? Are they cleaning the card reader after every transaction? People paying with cash kind of defeat the limited touch idea here for other cash user right?

As far as application, if stores are getting a lot of pickups then they will burn through bags fast at this rate. Not a big deal, though I wonder how many are kept on hand in general. I love that someone inside the company that has to be aware of the PR shitstorm about lack of cleaning supplies and trash policies thought that this wouldn't stir up anger again.

This is why I will be going fully digital until this whole thing is over.  Or just playing my backlog for the next 20 years, and I really could do it.

I'm not a corona expert, but I'm pretty sure they stopped taking used games over a week ago wouldn't the virus be dead if it was on any used games?

The plastic bag thing is actually a good idea too because gloves would have to be changed after every order. I'm not defending Gamestop but they did give workers the option to stay home also.

They stopped taking in games sure, but my thought is the transmission that will likely happen from having to deal with customers regularly. The bags still don't do shit about the airborne portion of everything. Customer coughs in your face or into the store and I could see it making it onto a game. Seeing all the dumbasses that have come out of the wood work over the past month, I wouldn't expect all of these employees are taking shit seriously even know. Obviously most people likely are, but it's amazing how stubborn people are still being, just like these people actually going to the store for stuff that can likely be bought digitally.

This is what I don't get. It's detectable on surfaces for up to 3 days so couldn't they just take trade ins, let them sit somewhere for 3 days (or hell, a week) before they sell it? Trade ins could be handled contact-less like how fast food places are doing it. You get your credit on a card or whatever, use your phone to do an in store order and leave. Yes, it'll take MUCH longer to do it but it's something.

Additionally, I'm more curious as to what levels are detectable... like is it enough to actually give you the virus from simple contact (i.e., there's radiation in a lot of things but doesn't mean it's enough to give you cancer)? Or is it to the point where it's literally emanating spores where just have the box near you can infect you?

It seems like the biggest issue of this is from it being in the air from others coughing and stuff, or touch gross surfaces and then touching some part of your body where it gets into our bloodstream.

That's super helpful for those in states that GameStop has closed all its stores in.

Can you use the digital PUR certificates on gamecards? I don't know if they qualify under "Gift Cards" or "Downloadable Content" in the exclusions. I'd like to get the Blizzard Balance credit before Hearthstone drops.

Just got a call from my home store to my surprise asking if I wanted to convert my preorder of Xenoblade Chronicles DE to the DE works set. I thought all California stores were closed, but they stated they were open for business for both curbside delivery & chipped card transactions at the door (store was still closed for browsing). They said all stores in their district were indeed operational (Central Valley locations).

When asked about in store pre-orders, they will be able to accommodate them as well. They weren't sure about Persona 5 Royal's availability on launch day but sounded like I would be able to secure my copy. Color me surprised...

Went food shopping today so for shits and giggles called my local store to see if I could use my $10 Animal Crossing reward for a $10 E-Shop card and they told me flat out no. So I guess I am going to have to call in the next few days to see if I can just convert it to points.

Sounds like the district leader didn’t get the memo.

As opposed to them somehow using a plastic bag this seemed to make more sense.

Not that people are happy in this thread right now, but I happily took advantage of the curbside delivery with the Buy 2 at $10 each, get 2 free! I picked up Assassin's Creed Origins, Wolfenstein 2, J-Stars Victory VS+, and Dragon Quest Heroes. I know some of these are a little older now, but hey $5 each to bolster my PS4 library now that my wife has stolen my Switch for Animal Crossing... I'll take it!

Anyone else get anything they were pumped about?

I got the bolded as well along with world of ff vanilla and penguin wars as a filler since nothing was left by the time I ordered stuff besides games I already owned sadly.

I converted my $200 plus trade credit to $100 Netflix cards and couple of eshop cards today. I pay for my own Netflix (not stealing it or sharing account with anyone) so this is basically like cash to me.

Anyone who pays for Netflix this is an easy way to basically convert TC to cash. I was going to save it for new consoles, but it’s looking more and more like they may not be available this year and who knows how long GS will be afloat.

Exactly. I'm not sure why everyone is panicking about "going digital" or whatever when you can easily just order physical copies online or buy them from the store and do this. There's no way in hell I would ever pay $60 for a digital file. When the games are one sale for a few dollars during the flash sales then yes, but $60 for a digital license and having no physical product? Fuck that.

I'm using this time to work on my backlog anyway. My game buying habits have gotten out of control to the point where I spent a few grand a month on gaming "deals" and my basement is starting to look like hoarders. Buying digital won't fix it because then you just get into digital hoarding which also takes up digital space on a HD. The real solution is to stop buying more than you can play. I am addicted to the point where I was shaking last night because I didn't buy AC for $5. I finally said "no" because I know I'll never get to it or by the time I do it'll probably be worth about $5 anyway.

I can not figure out if I am video game player or collector. Starting to think scoring the deal is more of a high than playing the game. I tell myself that at least if I get the physical copy I can look at the box on my shelf...but then again, if I get the digital copy and only have to push a button from my couch I might actually play it...

Saying that makes realize I am lucky not to have actual problems...
