We use this Ikea side table for risers. Raises it 17 3/4" instead of just 12. And it's only 10 bucks.

Would it be worth it for mod purposes if you could only get access to Asteroids and Centipede? I'd probably eventually get a joystick and have to replace the control panel. Thoughts?

Here's a site i used to buy a replacement control deck from: https://www.diyretro...p-upgrades.html
I got a 12-in-1 deluxe cabinet on clearance back in December and swapped out with 2 player control deck and bought cheap buttons and joysticks.
Not including stuff i already had, i probably spent about $150 to turn it into a mame cabinet. You can easily spend more for higher quality buttons/joysticks.
Which one would you suggest for keeping the track ball and spinner(if possible)?

By the time you buy a couple of these, put them on risers, and replace all the parts, you could have bought a non-piece of shit cabinet.

That's why you don't have to be a dumbass about it and can go with just the essential stuff. I'm in $75 for an Asteroids one for example, they sent me a deck protector for free, I have an old Rasberry Pi laying around and the list of stuff that's mandatory really isn't that long. No one says you have to replace the parts, the essential stuff for Mame is a PC/Pi, the stuff to make those work, a new monitor or an adapter, and you don't even have to replace anything else if you don't want to.
I'm leaving my Centipede cab as is for now, it looks nice and the days of being able to find anything remotely resembling a decent arcade cabinet for anywhere near that are long gone in my area.

Here's another site that has other custom control decks, here's one for trackball, spinner, and 2player setup: https://99livesarcad...all-and-spinner
I haven't ordered from them, but they have been active on the Arcade1up Facebook and Reddit groups.

Quick question for the modding experts. Can an xarcade older model joystick be adapted to be use on a say a centipede model?

Are they still doing free deck protectors, I was told they stopped giving away free ones for series 1 cabs.

If you just ask for one they may or may not grant your request. If you point out that there is minor damage on your deck (which their probably is) they will almost certainly send you one for free once you prove your purchased it.
Heck, they sent me an entirely new monitor when I complained the bezel was scratched.

Managed to get the last of the Asteroids cabinet at my nearest store. Will definitely be modding it out in the near future.
None of the other ones they had in stock were ringing on sale, and even though it said they had the Centipede one in stock she couldnt find it.

I tried going to a WalMart for Rampage (the first time I seen it on sale) and it changed from 2 or 3 to limited and I didn't see any. So then I've been trying to get Centipede or Asteroids since they are so cheap but again no luck. I will keep tracking the Rampage one until the rest of the stores clearance it. I might have to try again for an Asteroids one at the store that has 3 but I need someone willing to help.
Also looking forward to Mortal Kombat, TMNT and if they do NBA Jam and Simpsons. Also wouldn't mind the Final Fight one if I can get it cheap

I went to about 5 walmarts that said they had stock of either of the $75. None of them had any at any floor location listed. Checked with the employees and brickseek matched their internal inventory system in every case. Employees said that its likely a variance or a mixed sku receipt or something that caused the numbers to look off.
Disappointed that every store was so wildly off on their inventory numbers. My first store said limited stock and 2 in stock. All others were 3+ in stock for both.

How can the pricing be so different? some have them listed for 75 yet 15 miles away some in stock but listed for 200. I thought this was company wide price slash?

I waiting for the MK2 one to go on sale... $200 will work for me on that one.

One near me has Centipede for $75, but I only have so much space for these and know for sure I am going to buy the Marvel one in the Fall. I do want that Fight Fight machine though, but it's still $299 at all the Wal-Marts near me so the wait continues.

Man wish I had the extra cash laying around to pick up a couple of these, I love the idea of having a miniature arcade on the cheap.

Wal-Mart stores typically clearance things on a store by store basis similar to Target. Surprised that one around me has any deals on these as they are usually the types of Wal-Marts that stock the clearance bin full of $20 and $30 games.

Thanks for starting this thread, OP!
I've always had my eye on one of these and told myself I would get the TMNT cabinet if they ever made one, so when they announced it a couple weeks ago at E3, I got very excited! I can't wait to get it in my theater room!

Yeah, its really gonna take a whole lot for me to resist buying the X-Men and TMNT ones even at full price just for collection/nostalgia purposes. I'm curious if they are gonna end up being rare or not.
Though I'm hoping for a 4-Player X-Men or Simpsons game down the line.

Marvel and TMNT will likely have pretty big runs since those two will likely sell very well. They also will likely not drop in price as quick as some of the others. I've really only seen the older sets of games go on sale around me.
Turtles is also going to be a bit more expensive at $350. I am going to go with the Marvel cabinet myself due to it having a better variety of games and the Turtles having solid console ports that I already have. I don't believe The Punisher arcade game has ever had a home release though and that is a really fun game.
