The buttons are fairly cheap. They're pretty much just a chinese knock off of sanwa parts. For a basic entry level stick though the price is great. In terms of modding, everything in there needs to be soldered so it does require some work to change the buttons and joystick.

Normally they only gut games when they have to put a box on the shelf. I'm assuming their online store is shipped from some distribution centre somewhere where they don't have a store front. I may be wrong though. They might source out to stores near you.
