Me and PapiChullo had such a weird game. Our connection seemed fine, but after he hit a foul ball off the small LF wall at Fenway, the game just stalled. He tried to back out so that maybe we could play again, but we couldn't.

That's really weird. I don't know if it's individual people's connections or just the Sportsconnect servers. My game against Ultimate Matt X had some decent lag...which was the first I've experienced in weeks. I can't really reccommend anything other than make sure your connections are doing NOTHING else when you try to play a game. I even disconnect all the PC's in my apartment to make sure nothing can bog it down. Of course the joke answer to this is STOP DOWNLOADING SO MUCH PORN EVERYBODY!!! haha

*Edit: Also, Supreme, who did PapiChullo start on the mound in your game? He never responded to me to let me know about the Blanton situation.

All right, I've got an idea. For this next week, I'm strongly considering not activating it until Monday (after the roster update). To me this makes sense since most people would want to wait until their rosters are set to play their game anyway. This way, it won't waste 2 of the potential days to get your game played.

We had 2 unplayed games this past week (one of which I knew about in advance). If I just don't resolve them until sometime Monday morning/afternoon, that should give us a new 7 day window for our games. How does everybody feel about this?

By stalled I meant that everything was fine, but the game just didn't advance. The ball was foul, but the game treated it as if it were still live... just nobody was able to do anything. I figured it wouldn't be officially dead until someone touched it, but I couldn't control Bay. And he started Blanton. He took a while to pick so I assumed he maybe checked the thread out before picking.

So it was pretty much just a glitch then? Well, I guess you gotta just chalk that up to freak occurrence. Sometimes, to try to speed up foul balls, if I can't control my fielder, I'll try jumping, and then it will let me move him. Sometimes, I even have to press L2 to select him first. This is probably common knowledge, but I just thought I'd throw that out there for anyone unaware.
 
All right guys. Since the new roster update is out, I went to resolve the unplayed games and activate our next week. For some strange reason that I still don't understand, the league was telling me there was only ONE unplayed game (between Fuzion and Wpark). However, talonthrawn and V4oLDbOY have no score or record for their game either. After I gave Wpark the win for his game, it told me "no more unresolved games". Somehow, talon and oldboy's game just got lost in limbo I guess.

I'm hoping that the next week is actually active because when I check online to see when the exact deadline is (by clicking "unresolved games"), it doesn't show me a "current round in progress" message. I'm hoping the website just takes a little while to update and that we're not stuck in a perpetual week 3 somehow. The only way to know is to try to play your week 4 game. Anyway, there are a couple pitching rotation questions that need to be addressed.

DestroVega - Sadly, as we all know, Joba is hurt. The Show just added Giese at the end of the rotation. Lucky for you, you just threw Joba in your last game, and he should be back by the time you need him again. So, you shouldn't have to use Giese...unless you'd rather pitch him over Rasner or Ponson. Your call, but let me know if you do.

Ultimate Matt X - In your ever revolving #5 slot, Matt Ginter is now out. Anthony Reyes is in. This doesn't affect you this week (and who knows...it could be different by next week), but I'm just making note of it.

cdrw123 - Good news for you man. Brad Penny is off the DL. You're in a similar situation to PapiChullo last week. You can use Penny as your starter this week, but if you do, he's your #4 the rest of the season. Let me know.

Yeah, I figured that out. I've sent messages to every support name I know of on The Show (moderator, monitor1, monitor2, etc.), but haven't heard anything back yet. When I go to "unresolved games" in the commissioner menu, it tells me there aren't any for this round. I don't know what the hell kind of glitch this is, but in the messages I sent, I told them it was going to cause a lot of people to stop playing this game. Does anybody know of any other support emails or ways to contact Sony about this game?

I'm still waiting on responses from anyone at Sportsconnect. I emailed Sony's main customer support today as well, but we'll see if anybody gets back to me. If I don't hear anything from Sony, the only thing I can think of to try to save us is dropping one or both of the players, and hoping the system straightens itself out.

I'd hate to do that, but if we're just stuck, I really can't think of a better alternative (I'm not even considering starting over at this point because I know we'd lose like half the league due to lack of interest). I'm open to suggestions though.
 
All right guys, I still haven't heard anything from Sony (why should they care right? they already have our money), and I didn't want this league to just be forgotten, so I made some executive decisions, and tested my theory.

V4oLDbOY, due simply to the fact that your record was worse than talonthrawn's, I chose to drop you from the league. I'm really sorry that I had to do this, BUT it did seem to fix the glitch (for now). Week 4 is now active! melokeith, you're off this week because your opponent would have been V4oLDbOY. Again, I'm sorry I had to do this, but oldboy, you not only took one for the team...you took one for the league. Besides, with Madden just coming out, I'm sure you've got your hands full anyway.

As for the rest of us, here is the new deadline:
the current round expires on Aug 20, 2008 09:14 AM.
PLEASE make sure you get these games played, because I don't want to risk this happening again.
The season you save could be your own.

Why is it that I don't work for them, and yet possess better troubleshooting skills? I responded with this:
Nevermind. Fixed it myself. Dropping one of the players in the missing game corrected the glitch and caused the system to move on to the next series. We lost a player, but saved the league. Glad I didn't wait for your suggestion.

I didn't want to be rude to the guy, but damn I can't stand it when consumers know the product better than the people who make it. Why don't they just pay us?

Anyway, moving on! PapiChullo when do you want to play? My last game with O-Dogg :cry: (although maybe I'll have the strikeout machine by next week's update). I'm good most evenings after 6 pm est. Let me know.

Crazy game between Backslap and I, I was a bit cheap with the small ball but how else are you supposed to beat Wakefield? Anyways, I'm sure our rematch will go better for you man, once you took the knuckleballer out you pitched much better.

When I joined I was wroking 4:30 am to 2:30 pm and had a lot of free time in the evenings, but now I work until 11 pm dont get home to around 11:30pm, so its for the best.

Glad you understand man. I wasn't really even sure if it would work, but used the troubleshooting mantra "you can't break what's already broken". I'd still like to play you in an exhibition sometime if you're ever around. Thanks for your participation and class in the league.

PapiChullo, sorry about missing our time last night. My wife decided she wanted to go see The Dark Knight, and I wasn't about to let that opportunity slip away, haha. I'll be on tonight though around 9 pm est. Hope to see you then.

ivanctorres, I'm easier to get a hold of through PMs or some messenger software. But it is kind of a moot point because I've been out of town anyway. I'll be back tomorrow though. I don't know about my availability tomorrow, but I should be around at least in the evening Sunday. Tomorrow I could possibly be around in the evening too.

Contact your opponent and set up a time (today) to play your game. I'm trying my best to keep this thing going, but I can't do it by myself.
 
ivan, what do you wanna do if the lag is bad again? I should still be on later tonight to play, if the connection is bad or if something comes up would you wanna try early tomorrow before the deadline.
 
Ok GG UMX
The lag was insane but luckily Pena gave me two quick homeruns in his first two abs and Floyd followed for another and got two outsingle from upton to get my fourth run but killed my own rally because of a baserunning error. UMX got a leadoff home run from Sizemore to counter my first inning homerun but Pena but Sonnanstine plus Miller, Bradford, Wheeler and Percival in the ninth protected the lead.

Im ready for the next week but still hoping my baserunning drastically improves.
 
Lag does make pitching a whole different experience though...getting the time right is a science in and of itself bc you have to anticipate the lag :)

The rays lineup is decimated by the way. No crawford and Longoria makes the lineup very mediocre outside of Pena and Upton.

No clue what the Sox are planning on doing when Wakefield gets back (long relief?), but you can decide how you want to play it. Just let me know.

Ultimate Matt X - You lost Paul Byrd, haha. The Indians just added Zach Jackson to the end of their rotation, BUT since you've already thrown 4 guys and are due to pitch Reyes, I'm going to let you skip Jackson's turn this time. That'll get you back to Lee and Carmona for weeks 6 and 7.

Well, it depends if you were going by The Show's rotation or the real Yankee rotation, because as far as I know, The Show always had Rasner 4, Ponson 5. But that's cool. Just pitch Rasner this week then...unless you'd rather use Giese.

Though by next week's update, you won't have Giese either, and considering the state of the Yankee season, I don't know if Joba comes back at all. So that's something you'll want to think about when you get back to the top of your rotation. Who knows, maybe you'll have Carl Pavano by then! Oh wait..."stiff neck". I forgot :roll:

The deadline was 12:30 pm est today. Nothing I can do about that. Once you missed it, the game was locked. I had to resolve it myself. But I talked to Fuzion about it, and you got the win anyway. If you notice, the deadline is posted right at the top with the schedule. Something to make note of for this week's game.

Also, more importantly, what do you want to do with your rotation??? You gotta tell me something about when you're going to use Penny so I can try to keep these rotations steady. Otherwise, nobody will have a clue who they're supposed to be facing.

Well, Buchholz is being sent down since he's been terrible, so Byrd will just take his spot. I'll use Clay for this game, then could I move Byrd to #4 and Wake to #5?

Thanks for letting me know! And yeah, it's not like you really lose anything either way. I think the Cubs and Angels have the strongest rotations 1-5. Good pitching all around.
 
Holy shit talon! That was the most amazing game I've ever played! Haha, damn...I didn't think I had a chance after you took the lead in the 12th. Then Chad Tracy hits the solo to tie it off K-Rod (I bet that had you cursing, haha). Then I'm forced to leave Buckner in forever because of the stupid ass pause time limit. And he ends up getting the game winning knock.

Ironic that after you got hits with like every single one of your pitchers (freakin Santana was 2-2..then Speier had a hit in the 14th), a pitcher wins it for me. Crazy game man! But my hat's off to you. I was dreading like every person in your lineup, haha. Can't believe I pulled that off. Awesome game man! Well worth the price of admission. Hell, I wish I had a recording of that game. I'd sit and watch it, haha.

But yeah, helluva game, I'm sitting here in disgust but yeah, lets play one for fun where I can be the team I actually like to be (the brewers).

Haha, hope I didn't cost you a controller man. I was making you nervous? hahaha...that's funny dude. Toward the end, I was holding my breath on the edge of my seat. For a second, I thought I was going to start rocking like Leo Mazzone, haha. And I knew I was going to run out of pause time, so that's the only reason I brought in my long reliever. Every AB was terrifying with him.

And yeah, that triple play I got on you was luck. I didn't think the ball squirted away enough for your runner to score from third, and then chaos ensued. You also had that play on a bunt (I thought you were squeezing) where Santana didn't break from 3rd, and then you just railroaded my catcher. I'm glad he held on to the ball though because if he would have dropped it on a collision with the pitcher, I would have been pissed, haha.

I was mad when I blew the 2-1 lead though. I've never pitched with Juan Cruz before, but he seemed like he had decent stuff. Then he just started giving up hits left and right. You did a great job of making me throw strikes though. With the lineup the Angels have, I nibbled as much as I could. Petit had better stuff than I expected though. Chad Tracy came up big for me. He had the tying home run in the 12th, and then scored the winning run after his leadoff double in the 14th.

Man, there was so much in that game. It really could have gone either way, but I think today is just my lucky day because before I played you, I played a game for a Madden 09 league I'm in, and I came back from 14-0 against the Eagles to win 22-14 (I had the Rams). So, good day for me! haha.
