This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items, or raincheck "scams." Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday. Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. Some info from BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction."

When posting deals, please include city, state, store, game, system and price. For example:
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
Super Soup Soufflé, Xbox 360, $4.98

Special thanks to Mephitical for this great tool for locating clearance titles which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance-- often games will not be tagged correctly. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Remember, the lowest known price will be posted since the listed item could be higher or lower at your store. Here are the current deals:

well i just got back a few hours ago from my Ocala, Florida target and they had 7 copies of thpg for $30
i am still waiting on it to go down to $15
 
i just went to target to check out some info i heard from a friend and it's true i just got ghost squad for the wii for $9.98....it isn't marked that much but it is when they ring it up....i found the game on an end cap in a cardboard type game holder thing....just lettin' you guys know....i am not sure if it is a YMMV thing though....thread back and let me know if you guys are successful.
 
Yeah, it's in the Target clearance thread and it's a definite YMMV as some people have reported that they don't ring up and the store won't sell it to them.
 
I still can't believe that this is still going on.... I guess my local targets are more "by the book" and won't give this game for the price you guys are getting it for.
 
Thanks for this. I remember seeing it at an endcap a week or so ago, and new it was clearanced, but I have no idea for how much. I'll definitely have to go look in to this again.
 
Purchased a copy today for $10.51 at a Target in Hillsboro, OR. It's been discussed in the target clearance thread, but I understand how it can be missed in a post over 100 pages long.

Yeah but this is such a YMMV type thing. I tried to do this at one store but unfourtunately the lady knew how to do her job and asked to check and the person working at electronics was on the ball too and knew exactly what she was talking about when doing a price check and even gave her the sku for"XBOX 360 software MISC." or something like that. I wasn't mad thoug because not only were they both on the ball on thing but she even rang another person up while suspending my transaciton to kepe the line moving. I just bought some cool $3 shirts and left not mad but very impressed that they we so good at that store. If only Wal-MArt had this "deal" going on.

And as always I have to point out that not everyone can comb hundreds of posts in dozens of threads every single day. Most people can't even go through the new posts on here every day, but some of us are at least dedicated enough to do that-but that's time consuming enough as it is.
 
I went to 3 different Targets...they all had the Ghost Squad $29.95 tags and it rang up correctly. Damn my Targets for suddenly having efficient employees. For the last year or two, they had lazy employees that never even marked the clearance games as being on clearance...I could buy any game I wanted because no one knew about it unless they had the CAG list. Now they mark them and pull them out of the case, so they're gone in minutes.

No go at the Ames target. It was $30, but it had a different sticker placed over the UPC, so I'm wondering if that sticker bumps the price from $10 to $30. I might have to go check that out to see if it's just a manager screwing it up for CAGs.
 
This is a crappy thread, not because this is covered in the Target clearance thread but because the OP dosen't explain how he got a price. Was it in the system at $9.98? Did the clerk manually adjust to this price (as others have reported)?

I would lock this thread because it dosen't explain the deal.

I have the same questions. All three Target locations close to me hadn't heard of such a thing, but Ghost Squad was similarly marked. It did, however, ring for $29.99 each time. Clarify what went on, OP.

I read the OP's post, went to Target, found a Ghost Squad which was regularly marked at $29.99. Took it to the register and it rang up $9.98.

No special stickering, displays or anything.

The only weird thing is that the item rang up as "Merchandise" with sku(?) 099090999.

I didn't have to say or do anything special to get the $9.98 price other than take it to the register and pay for it.

I think this is just a YMMV deal, like most Target clearance. Maybe the OP should put YMMV in the title, but the OP did say possible YMMV in the original post.

Hope that helps others trying to find this deal.
 
Quick question, my target has the tony hawk's still marked at $29 and some change (as of last night). Do target clearances usually scan nationwide (ala Circuit City?), or are the clearance deal usually YMMV?
 
In my experience, YMMV. I have yet to come across a good clearance deal in a SoCal Target. Maybe some West Coast markets show more movement in certain titles so the need to put them on clearance becomes delayed. Just a guess, though.

waste of time for me. i went to target in bailey's crossroads and they didn't have anything, then i went to the target on 50 in falls church. they had 2 ghost squads and it wasn't in the system and there was no tag, just a shelf price for ghost squad/garfield for $29.99.

so i talkd to the goofball clerks and they couldn't believe it didn't have a price, so i told them my friend got it for $9.99 at another target. he asked the manager and he said, "there's no way we're selling a nintendo game under $20." i was like, "you just made that shit up, it's not even in the system."

fuckin idiots think that just because it's wii, it must be expensive. originally, they were going to sell it to me for $50 until i said someone got it for $10...pricks

I also found it on a similarly-marked shelf ($30 for Garfield / Ghost Squad); I took it to a scanner and it was not in the system. I thought about taking it to the cashier and trying to peddle it as a $10 game, but decided not to. I'm a CAG, true, but an honest one.

If other people find it priced on the system at $10 or unmarked on the shelf, more power to you. Even if you don't, I suspect that Ghost Squad will eventually wind up at $10 everywhere anyway, a la Geist or Batallion Wars.

Forget trying the Targets at Fairlakes and Chantilly. Both would NOT sell it to me at a lower price. However earlier I asked one of the kids manning electronics and he said some guy came in a week ago and bought those games at a lower price (he couldn't remember if it was 12 or 8 bucks, but it was less than 15) because she showed his co-worker a scanned receipt of ghost squad for that price and the guy entered the price for him. Son of a bitch.
