This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction."

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store.

Are the Halo 3 collectors series 1600 microsoft point cards hard to come by? If so what kind of value can you get for them on fleebay or are they the exact same as the regular 1600 point cards. Looked on fleebay and didn't see any pictures of the halo 3 cards. Thanks

I imagine it has to do with how threads would be stored on the host, and the larger the thread, the larger the filesize. It's more strain if everybody is loading a large filesize (despite it breaking by the time it's in your web browser), than if they were accessing a newer, smaller file.

After all, all the major threads get "reloaded" at some point (as this is #11 for Target alone), and the front page was definately outdated on the last one (though I didn't check this one's yet).

I'd imagine this is at least part of the reason. It used to be that threads were capped at 500 so we wouldn't strain the server too much; the site's got a heftier backbone now, but ~4000 post threads are definitely going to start having an effect.

That said, I think time has a bigger impact. Eventually, every deal dies. Sales end, items are sold out, and threads fade away into the archives of the site. This is particularly true for clearance deals, since they're based entirely off items stores might not even have in stock.

Back in 2003, I found Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 for the PC for $2.50, registered here, and made my first post about it. That's great for me...but what good would knowing that possibly do anyone now? Most of the posts in the old thread were about items that aren't available in stores anymore, which means that the majority of the thread is useless now. Starting a new one makes it a lot easier to find posts about items that might still be in Target stores, which seems like a good thing to me.

I think the better question is, why would anyone want the old thread to go on forever?

People either don't know how to or are too dumb to subscribe to threads (hint: click on "Thread Tools" next to the giant yellow "Digg submit" button), or too lazy to look at the first page or two of the forum to find the thread again. Or both.

It is really ridiculous, since, as you mention, this thread is almost guaranteed to remain on the first two pages, probably the first page, and therefore nearly impossible to miss, if one is looking for it. I don't understand it.

somebody bought the viva pinata from my target, which I'm kinda upset about. I was waiting to see if it dropped to 14.98 so I could get it for 5 as opposed to 10.

Ugh, I just went to look at my Orange Box (PS3) that I got from Target last week for 15 and noticed there is a slit and the game is missing. I'm so pissed right now, and I am not looking forward to the hassle Target is gonna give me tomorrow when I try to explain it to them for a refund.

Has anyone else had this problem before? How did they treat you?

I was talking to a Target employee tonight about those phones...someone bought every phone they had (34 IIRC). Supposedly the manager yelled at the employee for selling them all, but he didn't nothing 'wrong' per se.

Most of the S. FL Targets are barren. I found "The Orange Box" @ the Lauderdill, FL location. I think there is 1 copy left @ $14.98. Plantation, Sawgrass, Hollywood, and Pembroke Pines locations were all worthless. I don't typically go to that many, but I was around and figured I'd take a shot.

I noticed most stores are bad about updating pricing, but unfortunately the stores don't seem to be moving a ton of games, so there aren't that many to hit clearance. I flipped some games awhile back at Blockbuster, but their selection isn't great.

I actually had that problem at Compusa right before they went ouf of business. Even with their no returns policy though, they still let me get an exchange. I figure if they will do it anyone will.

I don't recall seeing Final Fantasy I :psp: at all the Target in my area since late last year. I doubt I'll see a copy in my area now :bomb:

Matteson had Harry Potter and Forza. I bought the last NHL 2K8 and Cars. Tinley Park and Crestwood had crap. Don't know about orland.

I've never seen it at mine, then it appeared.. three of them, in the clearance section. Same thing with Jeanne D'Arc.
 
Most of the 360 games are clearance is cleared out from both Target i went. Only games FULL PRICE is NOT SOLD.

Thrillville (360) $19.99

Picked up COD2 for 360 $3.98 after coupon. 2 left, picked it up for my bro who just got his 360 3 weeks ago.
The only other 360 clearance game was Viva Pinata. Curiously red tagged as $19.99(isn't that MSRP?). I did spot 2 copies of The Club for PS3 for $29.99.

The huge stack of Platinum GC's are still there, but didn't get a drop this week. Still priced $49.99.
 
Nothing much to report at my usual Target (Brandywine DE) except that the Rockband on clearance has dropped to $29.98

So that would be $19.98 with the coupon, I was tempted to pick it up for trade but I didn't in the end. This is game only Rockband of course.

Is that game any good? I saw it last night @ that price, but I didn't pick it up. It is currently trading for $36, but if I buy it to play, I probably won't get that amount when I eventually go to flip it. Is it worth $15-$20?
 
It's not that big of a difference, but I just picked up Tony Hawk's Proving Ground for PS3 for $12.48 (not $14.98) at the Target at Robinson (Pittsburgh).

Note: I still have yet to be able to use the $10 Xbox 360 coupon becuase none of my Targets have any quality Clearance Xbox 360 games. Mostly just PS3 stuff. Though i am not complaining there since I have that too but it would be nice to use it one. :(
 
Picked up a Game Boy Micro for $40 (not sure why, guess it was just too cute and painfully small for adult hands ...)

They marked down the Gamecubes to $50.

Also saw a stack of Zelda TP guides for $10. (White softcover Wii versions).
 
I scanned the Rock Band USB Hub at a local Target, but it didn't come up as $7.48, it came up as the (ridiculous) price, $29.99. Are Target clearance prices YMMV?
 
Strange trip to my target today. I check this place everyday almost because it's close to my house. Anyway, every ps3 game is gone in the clearance section which has its own isle. This is strange for two reasons. First, the PS3 games that were there have been in the same spot, and had virtually the same amount of copies forever. The prices at this target are behind other targets so games like TMNT, Pirates of the Car., etc., have not moved in over a month because they were still priced around 29.98 - this included my two copies of oblivion that I have been patiently waiting to drop. Then suddenly they were gone and Wii clearance games were in their spot. They clearly rearranged the section but I'm curious if they would have shipped the ps3 inventory to another store. The 360, ps2, ds and psp games are all still there.
 
I was out today and went to a few stores, and saw two items we don't have listed here yet.

I doubt anyone's going to care, but they had Cars for the GameCube for $13.98.

One that might be more interesting: The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night for the Wii for $24.98.

COD2 is definitely worth $3.98. Sure, it's a launch title, and the graphics are behind the current curve, but it's fun!
 
Ok really weird stuff at my Target today. The clearance endcap..totally gone and replaced as if it were never there. There were some games that were in the front of the electronics aisle with red tags but they were total garbage. I'm really disappointed and scared that my Target will no longer have clearance games...
 
There was a bit at my local Target. All I specifically remember were COD2 (with the map pack token) and COD3 for the 360 for $9.98.

I'll check back later this week if I get a chance.

That's what I'm thinking of doing. I may head up there tomorrow to grab it and give it a whirl. I have 4-5 games yet to be opened (some great deals, but no time to play anything)....might as well make it 6!
