This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

went to target tonight and they magically had 2 copies of mirrors edge in the case.

i asked for a price check, the chick smiles and says that they are on clearance.

Stopped in the local Target today (cheap Pepsi), and punched in the DCPI for Mirror's Edge to see if it dropped to $10. Well I mistyped the number and the scanner came up GTA : Lost and Damned $13.98 which is normally priced $19.99. I typed in 207-22-0331 I think instead of 0311. I never saw more than two copies of the GTA Lost and Damned expansion at any Target store and those are long gone. Maybe worth checking if you guys see any left in your local stores.

Went to a local Target that had 25+ copies of Mirror's Edge for $19.XX last week. Only 6 left at $9.XX, so I picked up 3 (one for myself, one for my friend, and one for my boss). Also had a single copy of X-Blades appear out of nowhere for $14.XX, so I bought it too.. not sure if I'll keep or give to my friend.

May have to look around for :pc: Bioshock if that has dropped...

Yeah i made a killing over the weekend thanks to this site....walked away with Mirror's Edge for 9.xx from Target and then on a side note i got 007 for 10bones from Best Buy and Saint's Row 2 CE for 20bones at Fred Meyers....i love this site!!!
 
Grabbed :360: X-Blades after all yesterday after discovering that TIV on Amazon is still at $17.25, more than what Target is charging. Not enough higher to be worth it for a flip (and I don't generally bother with that anyway), but figured it was an easy insurance policy to be able to try the game out without getting stuck with it if it's really as bad as the reviews.

My take on it . . . It's not as bad as the reviews make it sound. I've certainly played worse. But (so far at least) it plays like a dumbed-down cross between Heavenly Sword and Tomb Raider, and I'd probably rather play either of those. The background graphics are good, but the character graphics look pretty primative (and seriously, what's with the plumber's crack? Is that supposed to be hot or something?). I'd definitely have been upset if I'd paid full price for it; for $15, it's not awful. Haven't decided whether I'm going to keep it or not.

Arg! Stop flipping Xblades and let me have one lol! Not much to see at my local Target. They are so cleared out that they barely have any regular Xbox 360 games.

All the psp games Ive been watching only went down to 50% off, was hoping for 75%..

Saw no lie about 50+ copies of GHIII for 360 at $20 . Quick Question about the Xblades rebate , when I got it from target it comes up as N360 something but doesnt say X-blades , Will that work with the rebate form and upc code ?

I was wondering the same thing. I suspect your guess is as good as anyone's, given that rebates generally take a couple of months to process and the game hasn't been on Target clearance for that long (I think that the code that appears on the receipt is a generic Target clearance one). My plan is to circle the item on the receipt -- hopefully between that and the UPC, they'll consider it good enough. Unless they're in denial about their game selling for $14.98 already. ;)

The UPC will be fine, the problem is the rebate form states specifically "Receipt must show Xblades game" and the Target one doesn't, so I don't think it will work.

Yeah, the question is how closely they'll even look at it . . . They may well see the correct UPC and the presence of a receipt, and say it's good enough. I've sent rebates with issues like this one before, as well as ones past the expiration date, etc., and still gotten them. Usually rebates are processed by third-party companies, with employees who are getting paid too little to care. I'm going to go ahead and send it, worst they can do is deny it.

I am finding that I rarely see a game get to $15 in my area. I guess the population feels that $20 is the sweet spot for games although the X Blades I was waiting for to drop never made it below $35.

Found like 12 copies of Mirror's Edge 360 at $10. Very strange.
I liked the game enough that I almost rebought it. (i have it for ps3)

The original rebate ads referred specifically to Target as one of the approved places to buy the game and qualify, so it should work, even though it doesn't say X-Blades on the receipt. Did you guys actually cut the UPC code out of the game case insert? Since it didn't say copies were permitted, I decided not to submit for the rebate because I didn't want to damage my game.

I haven't actually sent it yet, but yeah, I plan to cut the UPC code out of the game insert when I do. I did have to think for a bit about doing so, but when it comes down to it . . . this game is never going to be a central part of my collection, it's never going to be a collector's item . . . It's really just a way to kill some time, and will probably eventually get traded in at Amazon or GameStop when I get bored with it (which may well happen sooner rather than later). So does it really matter? Honestly, I'd rather have the $5 in this case. ;)

Also, when doing a return the CS Reps said that they had a new policy for price adjustments and returns. They said that they now would price adjust anything from advertised sales/price drops/clearance drops within 2 weeks from purchase. After that they still accept returns but they have stopped letting you return/rebuy right at the CS desk. I know this was YMMV for some, but the local stores would let me do it all the time around here. Now they are saying they have to put the returned item back into their system and if you want to rebuy it you have to wait for it to be restocked.

So we will just have to try and time our purchases and returns to a 2-week window and hope the price drops within that 2 weeks. I was thinking of taking back my copy of FIFA 09 ($14) if it drops to below that this week. Under this new policy, this would be the last week to try it.

On another note, I was at the Target in Smyrna, TN and they had 2 copies of :360: FIFA 09 that scanned for $29.xx. I thought about getting them for trade here but I passed. I didn't feel like $30 would trade very well since everyone else has them for much cheaper.
 
I would love more confirmation on that two week policy. If so, that's excellent news. It's very easy to time, most of the time, when an item will hit 75% off, especially with a two week window.

Also, updated the OP-- I wrote down a ton of drops, mostly 360, that I saw over the weekend.. Also, you guys nailed them all-- only thing that wasn't mentioned, I think, was Monsters vs. Aliens for 360. That's currently 34.98. Also, a couple of PS2 drops-- Quantum of Solace for 20.98 and Spider-Man Web of Shadows for 13.98.
 
Man, today some hoarder asshole grabbed all the 4+ copies of Mirrors Edge right in front of me at the Cypress , CA store. I've been watching them for over a month. He even grabbed all the remaining x-blades, which I'd like to point out I had left there since last week, because I'm not a asshole hoarder.

Dude, if you're reading this thread it would have been decent to at least leave 1 copy. I hope you enjoy them!!

I was happy with the $14.99 I paid for Mercs 2 at Blockbuster (as they all sold out at $27.98 at the Targets in my area) and the $14.98 I paid for BIA:HH at Target (got the last one ... no way it would have stuck around for another drop).

about hoarders, yeah I live in a city of 1,000,000+ people with deals that aren't advertised compared to the recent bestbuy $9.99 I find some left overs at Target sometimes....

Did you at least try saying something to him? Yeah, the fact that he's hoarding like that means he's a jerk regardless, but maybe if you'd actually been standing in front of him saying that you wanted it he'd have been willing to give one up for you. Or at least you'd have gotten a chance to call him an asshole to his face.

Maybe he was buying them for friends, family or CAGs. Why didn't you talk to him, rather than run to a computer and call him an asshole online?

Yes, I also saw Monsters vs. Aliens (360) for $34. I knew I forgot one!

Well I can confirm that they have price adjusted for me a couple times in the past month, but I thought they were just returning/rebuying since that is what they did in the past. Today was the first verbal confirmation I got about how the policy now works.

Actually, I just looked at one of those old receipts and they retuned the item and then resold it to me on the same receipt with the return. Not sure if they are actually price adjusting the item or if they have to return/rebuy in their system.
 
Nice. Grabbed the last(seemingly) copy of mirror's edge on 360 for 10$. Said 19.99 marked down from 29.99, the clerk remarked it was a good price, then it came up as 9.98(I was hoping). Felt kinda sorry for him because he wanted one too but I didn't see anymore lol, maybe he'll get lucky and there's one in the wrong spot.

How did he grabbed them in front of you? Were you all going at it at same time and he somehow overpowered you? If so then the guy's an asshole and u should've said something.

Funny, but No he was walking away from the display with them in his hand as I was walking towards the display, and I did say something, simply "you got lucky". On the inside however I was fuming, I only wanted 1 copy of Mirrors Edge.

And to all you folks who, would have preferred I a) confronted him, or b) begged him for a copy, I'm neither confrontational or the begging kind. I recognize that it's first come first served, but ranting about hoarder behavior is something I can reserve for this forum. Which is funny, because I then open myself up for a pointless argument about how weak minded, childish, etc... I must be for speaking my mind here. Honestly if I had asked him for a copy and he said NO, I'd be even more frustrated and may have called him an asshole to his face, or maybe he would have taken offense and told me to F Off. So an escalation of some sort could have easily ensued. So my Passive / Aggressive approach of ranting about it right here suits me just fine. So calling him out in this forum was childish, but if it makes him feel a little guilty or modifies some other hoarders behavior, I stand by my statement.

Nobody on CAG likes hoaders, so I'm hardly in the minority with my opinion.

WOW!! I wish my Targets were actually that good with clearance prices, but by the time anything drops to $15-20 every fuckin' copy is GONE.

I went to my closest one today and saw 2 copies of X-Blades for PS3, which were in the case, yet NO copies for the 360.

Apparently, XBlades for PS3 must actually be selling for $60 around here, since it came up $60.

I was also kind of shocked that there were copies of Afro Samurai left for 360, marked @ $41.98, but yet not one copy of the PS3 version in sight.

I really fuckin' hate my local Targets since they never have anything marked like everyone else's who reports in this thread and usually when they DO mark the shit down is when I haven't checked for 2 weeks.

If not for the Sears and Kmart deals I STILL get around here, I'd be more pissed.
 
Absolutely nothing new and no price changes at the Target in Mayfield Hts., OH. The only thing which I even looked for a price on was Family Guy (PSP) and I'm hoping it hits $3.74 next week. At least the Pepsi Throwback 12 packs were 4 for $11...

I did see one funny mislabel--AMF Pinbusters for the Wii on clearance with a price tag of $50+. Kinda odd seeing 8 Pinbusters for the Wii for $13 and change when I got a copy of it from the same Target right around Christmastime for $3.

I give hoarders benefit of the doubt simply b/c some people genuinely might pick multiple stuff for their friends and families. But I despise the people who hide games simply b/c it gives false inventory count when you check inventory online.

Dude, no one told you to "beg" him -- you know, there are options in-between those of "confronting" and "begging" which may (or, admittedly, may not) have netted you results. It just seems pointless to make a passive-aggressive rant here (which your post became when you directed a personal message to the guy "if he's reading this thread") when you declined to take any form of proactive action at the time when it might have meant something. You may or may not have gotten the game by saying something; by not saying anything, you definitely didn't. That's all I'm saying.

Geez, Turok is still $14.98 here . . . I think at this point it's just amazement that they still haven't lowered it.
