Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

ElHoardo1.jpg

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

Picked up GH Smash hits for $10 like everyone else. Still can't find a cheap GTA Liberty Stories here in the South Jersey/Philly area. It is 39.90 everywhere around here. Hope it drops soon
It's not on clearance for the PS2. I've found the inventory checker to be fairly accurate...doesn't mean people don't steal games, or hide them, or employees can't make mistakes and misplace them either.
The first page of the thread says it is on clearence for $4.99. Is this incorrect?

I picked up Midnight Club Los Angeles for $7.48 at the Target in Sioux City Iowa. They also had a copy of Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X for PS3 for $9.99.

My local stores have been pretty much dry of anything besides DS shovelware and a few decent PC titles which have been slowly dwindling. Nothing for PS3 except the GH spinoffs. And that's about it. Quite dissapointing lately. Though it has been about a week since I have been, might drive down tonight.

Guitar Hero:Smash Hits for Wii had only been in the display case at full price at the Target I frequent. When I checked today they were all gone and none were in the clearance end cap. Oh well, there went my best chance of using the $5 off coupon.

Picked up a lone copy of Ultimate Alliance 2 :360: tagged $41.98 but rang up $14.98 :bouncy:
yeah, people are reporting the bioshock 2 CE on clearance at best buy also,so i trust ya man. some of these people on here got the attitude...."i didn't find it so neither did you ",and if they do trust your word then they pick apart your Grammer...."i seen,i seen,...blah blah blah". Like our English teachers said "you better pay attention,so your posts look good on cheapassgamer.com". lol
It's spelled "Grammar" haha

I finally found Demon's Soul at a Target in my area. When I checked the price at the scanner, the system didn't recognize the DPCI so I assumed it was out of the system. MUA2 scanned as "currently unavailable". I was prepared to try to convince the guy to scan both games with the handheld scanner (to get the last known price) but when he scanned the games, they rang up full price! The total was $131.xx. :puke:

I used the "left my debit card in the car" line and left.
Checked two stores last night for Bioshock, no dice. All I found was the 360 one full price and the box raped by spider wire.
same here. checked at least 4 stores in my area and had them look for it in system...didn't come up with anything.

Same thing at bby as well...only two stores out of 10 still have the PC version and I think it's still full price.

aside from that there's nothing really good...just found the transformers PC game for 7.48 but that's about it.

The Target in Houston has HAWX for $20

Managed to get myself GH: Smash Hits for 9.98 and Lego Rock Band for my girlfriend at 12.48, both on 360

Also got my buddy Ghostbusters PC for $4.98

Saw but didn't get:

PC - Batman AA $12.48
PC - Transformers 2 $7.48

PS3 - Queen Singstar 9.98
PS3 - Guitar Hero Metallica 9.98

360 - Bakugan $12.98

This was the West Hartford/New Britain Target.

I really want to get Prototype on PS3 for cheap but I haven't seen it in any local Targets in months, for any console.

gunna check for prototype. idk why but neither my target or TRU ever has any clearance... on anything. Does it show up when you scan them in, even if its not on the tag? Or are clearance items YMMV?

Its YMMV but always have them scan regardless of what tags say on items you know to be in question. Always.

(Pick up an extra if you find it btw! heh)

At least here it's only been the 360 version that's been clearanced. The PS3 version, in the few stores that I've seen that still have it, is still full price in the case.

Yeah, I've seen that trend going on in this thread.

I was just mentioning it because I haven't seen either in stock; it seems that 360 games usually hit clearance first, and then the PS3 counterparts a few months later.

I stopped by a couple Targets and no luck for anything I wanted. I found Gears 2 but it scanned at full price. All I saw were the GH games.

If anyone can get me a Lego RB 360 I'll pay $20 shipped for it. I'm also interested in Gears 2 and Prototype if anyone snags extra.
And also I'd love to grab Prototype for PS3 if someone can hook me up at that discounted price. Can't seem to find one over here discounted
I could be wrong but I don't think Prototype for PS3 is on the clearance yet. The current $9.98 one is the 360 version.

I had a feeling GH: Smash would be $4.xx easily if people were more patient *sigh* now I go in and it's $9.xx but only 1-2 copies left in every store I goto, so I had to cave in at $9.xx price, not sure if they are enough quantities any stores that may be $4.xx eventually.

Game Clearances right now has hitting a BORE... NOT much good ones to buy anymore. The next one will probably be a month away.

I predict these good ones to go on Clearance within 6 month -

Sims 3 CE
Bioshock 2 CE
Strike (Fishing game with Rod) Bundle
DJ Hero Bundle

Yea it sucks man .. Xbox games seem to always be cheaper. or on sale for less.. I don't get it.

That's cuz some fool working for Target corp. thinks PS3 is better than Xbox 360 and give PS whole aisle, but Xbox only 3 sections. It don't have enough space!

Which is FINE with me LOL :p

One of these days (Which I am really hoping AGAINST) they will realize they are losing $$$ on that stupid idea!

Hey if I designed it, Xbox get whole aisle too, :)

Here's my theory... and it may not be a good one, but...

As everybody knows, 360 games are on DVD media, and PS3 games are on blu-ray. Blu-ray is currently the more expensive media. Just a thought... and an obvious one at that.

PS3 version is on clearance at my Target.

Ummm... 9.98 was the 75% off price. I would say that you would have little to no chance of getting a semi popular game at any lower than that... Not a lot of Targets even go to 90% on video games. Most give the games to goodwill if they don't get sold at 75% off.

Um, where is your store that the PS3 gets a whole aisle? In the stores around here, it's got about the same space as the 360, about two thirds of an aisle maybe, with the PSP taking up the other part of the PS3 aisle, and the Nintendo DS taking up the other part of the 360 aisle. The only system that manages a whole aisle to itself is the Wii.
got the last GH smash hits X360 9.98
No I got the last GH Smash hits xbox360 for only $9.98!....... oh you got yours somewhere else huh?

Almost all targets around here give a whole aisle to PS3 and almost never put any PS3 games on clearance. I own both so honestly unless it's a PS3 exclusive I usually always buy Xbox anyways only cause I always wait for a sale

Yeah, not a good theory. The cost of the media is irrelevant to Target.

What matters is how stock is moved. I'd bet good money that Xbox games sell well when first released, but then flame out quickly, whereas PS3 games may not have initially high sales, but will linger on for a while. Target wants to keep games fresh in the Xbox section for that reason, and they have no need to keep older stock if it isn't moving. I think this could have something to do with when the consoles were released and how they were adopted, along with the typical consumer of the games. Many people are just now getting into the PS3, whereas the Xbox has had a large install base for a while. Also, I tend to think of the 360 owners as more of the hardcore crowd of gamers. The PS3 and Wii attract many casual gamers, gamers that don't necessarily rush out to buy new releases every week, but instead buy games over long periods of time.

Regardless, I'm sure Target has a reason behind the clearance setup, but I don't think it has anything to do with the price of the media itself.

There are likely two different buyers and planners for X360 and PS3 (thus the decisions are separate). Even if they aren't store-shelf allocation is usually done by sales numbers by store - and are frequently revisited by corporate entities. You're the real fool if you think Target pays no attention to ways to maximize income. Also the English language called, it'd like to meet you.

Wow. I think that's the first time that I've ever heard anyone try to call the PS3 a "casual gamer" system. If anything, I would expect that the high price point of the PS3 (at least up until recently) would be enough to scare off most casual gamers, and that because of that, they'd be more likely to go to the 360 if anything.

Unless, of course, you're referring to those people who purchased the system primarily as a blu-ray player -- I wonder how many of those people really necessarily use it to game at all, though.

So I've had my eye on the MK Kollection :ps2: at a couple different Targets. They've been stuck at 13.98 for probably 2-3+ months (regular price tagged, no red clearance tag) - they won't salvage the damn things and they won't drop them anymore. Should I just give up on ever seeing them for less?

Yeah, that's the setup at my Target also.

I had a little time this morning so I went there to scrounge around. I wasn't holding out much hope since I had just been there two days ago and had done a pretty thorough sweep for any clearanced games (and came up empty except for Singstar which I was not interested in).

Imagine my surprise, though, when I saw two

Bakugan games for $12.XX in the clearance endcaps. They must have dug these games out of the back storage room or something. Perfect gifts for my nephews (in fact, I almost bought them at Sears last week for $19.99).

Well, to be fair, I certainly think the Wii is more of a casual gamer system than the PS3. But, I think a lot of people who aren't heavily into games owned a PS2, and it was natural for them to purchase the PS3. It's purely anecdotal, but that's the way I see it.
I just noticed that on some items there is a red target sticker on the price tag but it rings up full price.
If there's a red Target clearance sticker and it's got the correct DPCI for the item on it, you should be able to argue and get the price on the sticker. If the sticker has the wrong DPCI, it'll probably be a lot more YMMV. Still, doesn't hurt to try.
