Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

ElHoardo1.jpg

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

Buying a Beatles Rock Band set to sell on eBay is nonsense, you'd never be able to break even. Wrapping up the package would be a huge pain, and the box is probably too big for USPS to handle. Shipping through Fed Ex or UPS would likely cost you at least 30 bucks, so you'd need to sell it for at least $100 with free shipping to break even.

Beatles Rock Band however is one of those sets that you can hold onto and will increase in value over the years, assuming it doesn't get a reissue in some form. In 5 to 10 years when they are long gone, Beatles maniacs that didn't buy it the first time around will be looking for it, and there certainly isn't a shortage of insane fans with money to throw around.

amen :applause: :twoguns:el horado de beatles :boxing:

Oh, I totally forgot, my Target finally got updated with the new shelving system. It looks like shit. Seriously, there is row for 360 stuff and maybe 30% of the available spots actually have games in them. It's ridiculous and looks like a store that is going out of business.

Happy to hear that the Beatles bundles are going to sell like shit. I don't really want the game but I'd love to replace my RB1 drums and GH2 guitar with updated instruments. That and I don't have a mic yet.

Just got back from clearance searching at a couple of nearby Targets. Checked the headphones, harddrives, flash drives..and all came up full price. Didn't see anything much in the way of games. Only saw a few Nextar navigation systems clearanced for ~59.xx. :bomb: booo.

Two endcaps at my target full of stuff and all of it was shit. Bunch of crappy PSP/PS2/DS games, some overpriced cables, some low-end GPSs and a bunch of cell phone chargers. There hasn't been ANYTHING even remotely decent at my Target for about 2-3 months now.

And yeah, the new shelving system doesn't really look that great. What was wrong with the old glass cases?
What was wrong with the old glass cases?
What's wrong with them, in addition to being a really big turnoff to the paying public ("You need *special permission* to see this!"), is that it's a pain for customers to have to wait to look at the back of a box of any given game. You have to:

1. Track down an employee
1A. If no employee there, page one to the electronics department
2. Have them get the keys if they don't have them, or find the person who does
3. Have them open the case, give you the game, and then STAND RIGHT THERE HOVERING OVER YOUR SHOULDER LIKE A SCREW IN THE PENITENTIARY! It's embarrassing for the customer who actually wants to read the box and or look intently at it.

That's not really any kind of relaxed, inviting shopping atmosphere, now is it? It's basically "Theft Watch 2010" on that system. With the racks, customers can approach and personally handle the game themselves, scan it to check the price, read the box, etc. All without an employee's "permission".

The racks system isn't perfect, no...but it's better than the locked case, IMHO.

boagman beat me to it lol

but honestly it is easier that way and they really don't have to worry about people jacking the games since those cases have security tags and they are hard as hell to pop open unless you have the tool.

On a side note, found a couple of the flash drives but they haven't dropped anything past a couple of bucks, but I have finally found the HDD....for $48.XX. I'll camp to see if any last til the low drop but I doubt it seeing as I'm in SoCal. Need to pick one up for my friend. Thankfully most of the targets I go to here don't have that kind of El Hoardo problem.

The employees started chewing them out when they started grabbin stuff from kids or just in massive amounts (seriously 16 RB kits???? wtf???) for ebay and soccer moms don't even try anymore since the managers got on them for shoving everything into their carts and only taking a couple of items and leaving the carts (and sometimes the items) all over the store. I don't know why El Hoardo even tries anymore since most of the stuff they get can only be sold at a loss.

Geez, sorry then. I never had a problem with the glass cases and thought it made the games section look a lot better than the bland shelves they have now, but I can understand the point you're making.

We still have clearance games out in the open here. Hope it stays like that. Store over here seems to be more neat and reserved most of the time, if a guy had 16 of those things in carts the manager would have came out and raised some suspicion or something. Knowing my luck they would probably only let me buy 1. Hey el hoardo!

At the store I frequent they did the new shelving but you still have to ask an employee to get the game as they are in the other plastic cases plus only one copy attatched to a cord is out which defeats all of your reasoning.

Went to Target yesterday and there were not to many new drops. Some items I saw were:

ihome ipod alarm clock dock: $25 from $100
8gb usb flash drive: $9.xx

Everything else had stayed the same. I am keeping my eye on a Vizio 22" 1080p tv that has been at $199.xx for a few weeks now.

Do you have a DPCI for the Vizio 22" 1080p TV?

If not, can you get it? Thanks :)

Edit: Is it this one?

I think it is that one, but the one in store has an original price of $299 and not $269.

Wait...I'm not following what's going on, here. The plastic security cases are now inside the glass-walled cases at the store you frequent? It's hard to understand what, exactly, you're saying.

In the new setup, they have a single copy of each console game inside one of those individual plastic security cases you see at Best Buy and sometimes TRU. That security case is tethered via a retractable cord to the display rack, which is a series of plastic shelves now. Behind/under those shelves are other copies of each game. Those copies are the ones they give customers when they ask for a game 'out of the case' anymore and they save the security case one for the last copy.

Does this explain it better?

Yes it does, thank you. I still say that this is a better system, since the customer can actually look at the total product before deciding whether they want to pull the trigger for purchase or not. Then, and only then, do they need to find an employee to get them a copy. Is it the ideal situation? I suppose not, but at least to me, it's better than having everything completely out of reach behind glass.

I still say it's easier on everyone this way. Thanks for the clarification IATCG.

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought it'd be after IATCG chimed in and clarified it for me. To me, that's about as ideal as things are going to be. There's *got* to be some kind of security element in place so that everyone and their brother can't just walk up and handle the actual game cases themselves (for theft reasons, obviously). This system at least allows them to handle the box itself, read the box, see the price, etc. Apparently they can't scan it themselves due to the bungie cord, but that's really just ancillary.

Thanks for the pics links.

Does the resevoir tip allows you to make the balloon dogs easier?

Actually, no it doesn't. His reasoning is that you can examine the game to your heart's content and decide whether to buy it without the employee standing there. With the new shelving and retractable cord, you can stand there all day and read the backs of the game boxes. When you're ready to buy, you can an employee over. Unlike Kmart, Target actually has employees in the electronics section. This is a 10x improvement over the old glass case system.

Bingo, I can't even tell you how many times I'm making my way past electronics and I get stopped by the mom and kids. The kids will have birthday, christmas, allowance to spend and want to look at the backs of every single DS game in the case. 10 minutes later I get back to what I was originally doing...

You're quite welcome. Apparently, they're going to be converting over my local stores to this new setup within the next month or so. Hopefully they'll be able to keep the clearance games in the security cases, so they don't walk off to HBA like I've found a few before.
No it was the whole bundle for $42.
What system was it for?

Hadn't the 360/PS3 version been on clearance for like $62 a couple of months ago, before dropping out of the system?

I hope my Target gets this soon. I've never felt comfortable paging an employee over just to look at a game.

Of course, it still won't solve having to get someone over if I decide to purchase a game. Last time I wanted to buy one, I pressed that little button that is supposed to page someone, gave up after 10 minutes, came back a little while later to try again, and ended up having to search for someone to help me. to get the game.

I have to say, I've never really understood why they keep some games under lock and key while others are out in the open. I used to think it was just the bargain games that they didn't really care if they got shoplifted, but my Target has had all the Pokemon games (not just HG/SS) sitting on the endcaps...

It may be a better system for Target, but not so good for the CAG.

A few weeks ago I bought Need for Speed Shift at Target (on sale at the time for $39.99). I noticed the new shelving. I was able to read the package w/the retractable string thingy, which was nice. The problem was then trying to find an employee to open up the case. Once I found someone, they unlocked, took the game and brought it up to their counter for me to be rung out there in the electronics.

The problem I see in the future is that if Target does not upkeep with their games, meaning flush out the old, bring in the new behind their cases, games will get lost back there. They will constantly have to keep rotating their stock becasue there is only so many slots they can keep games, as opposed to the glass case where they would just keep stacking.

If the games are going to be behind plastic, time I learn how to use the UPC code, print and bring thang.

Can't argue with you there. The possible loophole would be if they immediately take clearance games and endcap them, as many of them currently do. If not, then yes: it'll be harder to get the truly good clearance games at the lowest prices.
Oh, I totally forgot, my Target finally got updated with the new shelving system. It looks like shit. Seriously, there is row for 360 stuff and maybe 30% of the available spots actually have games in them. It's ridiculous and looks like a store that is going out of business.
Yeah, a couple of my local stores just switched to the new system and it does look pretty bad. I can understand how it makes sense for them, I guess, but it looks cheap. Hopefully they can do something to pretty it up a bit.
It may be a better system for Target, but not so good for the CAG.
I saw my first plastic prison setup today and would agree with this, but add "and probably better for most everyone else too." At least at the one that I visited there appeared to be more space, it was less claustrophobic, and of course you could actually look at the boxes.

The 360 section can hold so much more now that I'm certain the clearance gravy train is coming to a stop which will probably reduce the frequency that I drop in (but I suspect I'm not their target (ha!) demographic).

I'm not sure what some of the complaints are about the new setup. The old ones still have the games locked in plastic that require an employee to get. For people concerned about effect on clearance, the ones with the new setup still had as good clearance as the Targets near me with the old setup. Of course, now all Targets seem to be dry.

Personally I like Walmarts' new setups where every game is in its own plastic coffin so you can look at it and take it to the register. Unfortunately Walmarts' prices rarely have me wanting to buy anything there.

If your Target has the scanners that you can punch in the DCPI, every shelf tag has the 9 digit number for the item. Handy to use for items that don't have clearance tags.

Question: For those of you that have Targets with the new shelf system, did you have copies of Metroid Prime Trilogy before? I know both of mine did, and I swear they are gone now. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Picking up copies on the cheap or finding out if they are in a Goodwill or something would be a nice surprise.

Noticed that this had gone missing too but they were still putting it together so I chalked it up to that. CEs / non standard size boxes may not fit in the prisons. I'll try to snag + post the dcpi from one of the local non-converted Targets so we at least have something to look up in store.

I was just at one today that had the new shelf system and saw 2 copies of Trilogy side by side. They had them when I was there last week too, before the remodeling.

Oh yeah, and I picked up Tetris Evolution for $9.98 while I was there today also.

Does anyone else find the following amusing: Target is redoing their games section, which wasn't really problematic to begin with, and yet K-Mart, which *desperately* needs to redo their games section, hasn't done so in, well, like...ever? Talk about the rich getting richer...

My experience with the stores with the new setup is that clearance games (the few that I saw at the beginning of the cycle) were in the plastic cases as well, all marked with clearance prices. They had no clearance endcap, which leads me to believe that they are keeping ALL games in the new case (there were quite a few empty slots) and soccer moms are snapping them up at $41.98, so nothing gets to drop.

But once again, this may just be at my stores, but both places that have the new cases seem to have the same M.O.

The stores near me with the new layout still have an endcap clearance area. Probably the healthiest Target for clearance also has the new layout.

One drawback: The cases don't accommodate CE editions. One Target had a Mass Effect 2 CE strangled to death by that security device.

The Target where I work hasn't put anything worthwhile on clearance lately. I did see Borderlands for 29.99(pc) I'm guessing they're keeping up with the console price drop.

Interesting interaction today at my Target. They were in the midst of scanning the entire electronics department, and I noticed that the associate in the PS3 section had Resident Evil 5 and Bayonetta in her scanning cart thing. I asked her how much they were, she scanned them, and they came up full price. She asked if I wanted to buy them. I said no. She replied that if I didn't buy them, I wouldn't be able to because they were no longer in the system and were "going to the back." I asked if they were going to go on clearance. She said she didn't know, and that they "might come back out."

All very cryptic. What the hell is in "the back?" Is there like some wise being back there that determines what happens to games that are "no longer in the system?" Is it the Trash Heap? Does she determine what stays and what goes?

On a side note... tons of PS2 titles on clearance. They were all around $10 - $15 each. Nothing noteworthy though.
