Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in gold are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

ElHoardo1.jpg

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

Agreed. I really can't stand their new layout.

New layout? Did they change the design again? I havent been in a Targets in weeks (All of the local ones have been cleaned out clearance wise)

Yes, and it's awful. Low shelves with each game locked in security plastic. It now takes 1 1/2 times the space to display the same amount of product. plus I can't find the "cheap games" aisle any more. Golf clap to whoever thought this up.

It's not that bad.

With the new setup, you actually have a better chance at a game now, rather than someone hiding/stashing all the games in bedding, automotive, or housewares.

This way, the early bird gets the worm, instead of the hoard-y bird. Sucks for you stashers through.

The early bird who wants to buy a game at 15% off, not the CAG who wants to snatch it at 75. The clam shelled forest sucks.

I meant earliest to the clearance on markdown day. I didn't think I needed to clarify. Things are worth what people are willing to pay for them.

With that said, I'm off to Target! :whistle2:]

Grabbed x360 guitar hero 5 for 12.98 I think it is worth that just for the songs. It was the only copy

Yes, but you're not considering several factors. The person who buys at the first clearance markdown makes sure that markdowns happen in a timely matter (the more games they sell at 15% off, the faster it will cross that threshold when sales plummet). Additionally, hoarders generally wait for it to hit rock bottom, so they're not taking it before you want it, because they want the same price you do - this just levels the playing field so that the person who has their own map of buried target treasure doesn't have an unfair advantage by exploiting the fact that I'd never look for Pokemon behind adult diapers.

Where?

Like most of you I haven't had much luck at Target recently either, and I'm undecided about the new electronics section. The luck changed a little bit yesterday, I snagged:

PS2 Dual Shock controller (Silver) - $6.XX
PS2 MLB 09 - $4.XX
PS2 God of War II (GH) - $4.XX
PS2 Rock Band 2 - $4.XX

The Targets near me with the old layout suck as much for clearance as the ones with the new layout. In the past two months, clearance has been thin everywhere. There is no correlation with the layout, from my observations.

It seems because some Targets have switched to the new layout in the past two months, people are jumping to the conclusion that it's the layout's fault. But before the dryspell, it was the new-layout Targets that yielded the best clearance finds for me last fall and winter.

I realize it's like shoveling shit against the tide because many people here need a reason to complain about lack of clearance (damn el hoardo, damn flea market guy, damn soccer moms, damn slick deals, damn plastic prisons, etc.), but I just wanted to throw it out there again.

With great change should come great clearance :O

(My Target is under remodel very soon)

Saw a PS2 DJ Hero for ~20. I want to pick it up, but I only have a PS3 (that does play PS2 games). Does anyone know if the Ps2 version is playable on the PS3?

I love how everyone blames Target for the lack of clearance when it's obviously a result of the Holiday release calendar. There is less clearance because there are less games to clear out.

I'm not sure about the compatibility, but the controllers MAY be universal for ps2 and ps3. I'd do some research beforehand, but that alone may make it worth a purchase.

The store's layout shouldn't have anything to do with what games are on clearance or not. There is one target near me, that went to the new layout late last summer. They had their same clearance end caps through the entire Christmas season and new year, when the selections were numerous. In fact that store even had a few additional games on clearance I didn't see anywhere else. But even that last statement happens from time to time in every store. Each store is different though and who knows if in during the re-structuring, the store decides to implement a new process for clearance games. My store both had endcaps, and red stickers on the display cases.

On a side note, I am totally expecting Batman Arkham Asylum to go on clearance soon. Isn't the game of the year edition about to come out? In the past, any sequel or new version would prompt the older game to go on clearance. Who knows, maybe they are just getting better at ordering inventory and are allowing games to naturally sell out before new versions appear.

Well I've found out that the PS2 controller works on the PS3 version, but I'm unsure if it works when playing the PS2 version on the PS3.

I know that in Guitar Hero 1/2 USB-connected Guitars (i.e. all PS3 guitars) didn't work, but Rock Band PS2 instruments worked on both PS2 and Ps3.

I figured for the price, I could at least try it, and trade it in or sell it if it doesn't work (or I end up hating it). I hope its still there today :O (this was yesterday I saw it)

Yeah.. you can get your $20 back if anything. You could even just re-sell it as a PS3 turntable.

Saw Guitar Hero 5 guitar bundle PS2 for $19.98. Is the bundled guitar identical to the PS3 version of the guitar?
Agreed. I really can't stand their new layout.
I like how you can now look at the back of the box now. It's great for the casual game buyer. We just know what we want before we get there.

The new displays do not allow for games to be piled on top of other piles of games. They MUST be categorized now.

The entire game case at these Targets was emptied, sorted, and the new display was then refilled.

These factors - which forced the staff to sort the games - are what is responsible for the sudden dearth of clearance product. All clearanced games were found, marked down, and put out on the floor simultaneously, at which point they were promptly snapped up by customers who had never seen a PS3 game on clearance before. That, or they were shipped back to accommodate for the new game display restrictions.

The cases themselves are not to blame, and there is no denying that they are better than the glass case system. No, games cannot hide in the back behind piles of other games anymore. No, the cases can no longer slip into disarray, allowing games to get lost in the ether. This is unfortunate for us, the ones who are willing to dig through the junk looking for a specific game at a specific clearance price.

However, the new case designs are beneficial to literally everyone else.

I've found absolutely nothing worth mentioning or picking up at my local Targets in months :(... Target clearance has not been good to me lately. Hoping for some good finds soon!

Big pile of GTA ELC back in the case and back to $40.

Sony Blu-ray player originally $150--> 15% off, now $127.48. Had 15 of them on the floor, I hope they last but probably won't. It would be nice to have a Blu-ray player upstairs for only $75.

My local Target have Red Faction (PS3) for $40-ish. Everything is went up after new layout setup. I guess i won't see any good clearance game around Fall :(

found an xbox Rock Band Beatles Rickenbacker guitar for $25. I had to pass though. I can not justify picking something like that up just because it's a great price. Not when I have a couple perfectly good plastic guitars that I rarely use anymore as it is.

My local Target (that was a gold mine in a low traffic area) switched over to this new layout... the clearance section disappeared and there is not a clearance game to be found.

Brutal.

How long does it take before the clearance starts showing back up?

This is actually an awesome deal, and not all the Targets even got the Rickenbacker in
IMO it plays better then my other plastic guitars, and Gives me spares for when I wear them out.
IMHO if I found another I would buy it and keep it sealed. Anything with the Beatles logo on it should have an increased resale value over time.

BTW what state/location of Target was that at?

went to a few local target's today, nothing. they still have the same old layout and still the same prices on games as the previous week. fable 2 is still @ $13.98 so i'll wait for it to drop a bit more. left 4 dead goty is still $19.99 BLAH
Picked up DJ Hero for ps2 for $20. Anyone know if it is compatible with the ps3? If not, it is going back.
Why wouldn't it be? The PS2 titles that don't work with PS2 are usually obscure at best. This is a recent game. Probably the only differences are that the graphics are slightly lesser (though still HD, but it's using PS2 BC to render the graphics instead of the RSX), and no trophy support or PS3 online functions (such as PSN gaming).

On the controller side, since it's for PS2 you know it's USB. PS3 wireless stuff is bluetooth, generally, but if the dj controller isn't wireless, then it's possible that it's the same controller for PS2,PS3 and 360 (360 version probably looks slightly different, if at all).

One of my Targets went to the new layout during the week last week I guess, was pretty shocked to see it changed. (since the other Target took 2-3 weeks).

They seemed to just be in the middle of loading up the plastic prisons and I didn't have time to hang around to see what came of that, but it looked like they had a LOT of clearance stuff ready to go out. (I dug through the cart as inconspicuously as I could, looked like mostly the same PS2 stuff and a few random 360/PS3 titles that have been out at most Targets for months)

Seems like the week they go to the plastic prisons are a BIG week for clearance, so if your store hasn't moved yet, keep a close eye on it. I'm probably going to swing back by after work, anything REALLY good will be gone but I'm curious what else goes out.

I did find some Polaroid 10" photo frames for $24.99 (from $99.99-- DCPI 056-13-0029); hadn't seen these on clearance at all. I have one on my desk now; Amazon reviews are iffy at best as to quality. Panel looks sort of low-end netbook-y, not horrible looking by any means but not as good as a really good photo frame. Frame is way bigger than you'd expect, huge bezel around it. (not saying it's a good thing, make sure you have room for it! Although I just discovered you can unlock the massive silver bezel. It's ugly underneath but much smaller and you could probably decorate it or something) Decent pickup for $25. If it doesn't spontaneously burst into flames.

Nothing at all on clearance. They were in the middle of changing out the pricing strip on the plastic cage though, so maybe there will be something but i wont hold my breath.
only found red fraction guerilla ps3 13.98
Saw this too but thats only 30% off, if it hits 50% or 75% I'll bite
Also saw Zelda Spirit Tracks for $17.48

I thought my store had moved their clearance section as their were only a few repackaged items on pegs in the regular place. Turns out that's all they have left right now. I guess the big spring clearing is over.

Hey fellas I got a question. :bouncy:

I saw Tiger Woods 10 (360) at a Florida Target store. It was displayed on the new case isles. It had a price of $29.99 but I thought TW 10 (360) was clearanced out for $14.98?

There was no sales clerk around to ask for a price check. Do all Target's have the same price when a game is on clearance?

Ahem...
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

Pure speculation, especially considering how widely available these Beatles plastic instruments are. Rarity adds to value over time.
