Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in gold are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

I scored 4 packs of Energizer 16AA Batteries for 2.48. They were marked at 30% last week and I was gonna wait and hope they would drop further and I guess I got lucky.

havent been to my target for games in awhile, went there and all they had in the clearance section was Call of Juarez for 360 at $13.98, I passed.

they switched to the new layout with all the games locked sorta, I kinda like the new setup, I looked around and everything was MSRP but then I came across Beatles Rockband for 360 at $9.98, not in the clearance section. I bit on that. also found a pair of Sony headphones for 7 bucks, not a bad day

I grabbed the last copy of Beatles RB @ my Target for $10. It was in the plastic prison marked @ the correct price, if people are still looking for one. Another Target in my area was all out. Thanks for the heads-up whomever posted that deal :)
Boo =/, my Target's switched to the new setup also. And im guessing some employee's decided not to put up a large amount of clearance games

I checked a further Target this afternoon and they had bupkiss for clearance. I also had them check the DPCI for the Bioshock 2 LE for PC since I didn't see it out and apparently ALL of the Target stores by me are now sold out of it.

For those who want the DPCI for it, here it is: 201-02-0564
Well my local Targets have the new layout as well and sometimes it worth it to get someone with a handscanner because some of the titles are on clearance but the stores seem to be far behind on clearance items especially games since the new layout.. at least in my area.
It happens. If you're browsing through the games, look for labels without a sales floor schematic. If you look at all the labels that look like they're printed right onto the label strip, notice somewhere below the price they'll have in small text some numbers like 1-2-3.009 or 5-2-3.01. All games with sales floor locations such as these on their price tags will most likely be pulled by the price change team when their PDAs tell them to clearance them.

What to look out for would definitely be the price tags that are in a small plastic holder on the label strip, and are most likely covering up another label with a gray dot sticker on it. The labels that have the game's name, price, but a noticeable gap where the 3-2-2.003 schematic is normally are games that don't have a sales floor location and have likely been flexed into the game cases to keep the shelves looking nice and full.

They are also notoriously forgotten (at least at my store). Price change will be doing their weekly markdowns for electronics when their PDA says an item is being clearanced and needs a label. These flexed games are neither on the sales floor nor do they have a backroom location, and at least at my store, price change almost never goes looking for them in their flexed spot.

So the price change happens anyway, but it's sitting out their somewhere in limbo until someone scans the label or requests the game and gets the surprise of the day by finding a hidden clearance game!

Now, I do NOT SUGGEST that you wrangle up an employee and ask him to scan every one of these labels. If there's no one around, you might even take the label and take it to a price scanner to check the price, but PLEASE put it back where you found it... there's nothing more annoying to me as an electronics team member than people who swipe the labels and don't put it back.

Best course of action would just be to politely ask one of us if a certain game is on clearance, because you saw it at another store (i.e. here in this thread ) and if we'd mind scanning it.

I wish I was in backroom so that I'd know for sure, but I'm feeling a lot of drops coming on soon. We have a lot of games sitting in the backroom with no home on the sales floor, and they've been sitting back there for far too long IMO. Something is bound to give.

Target Clearance Thread is dying every day.... no game deals every week... looks like new remodel of Target Stores increase the Electronics Video Games Section. Probably no more games on clearance, or maybe not as we had in the last years.

Thanks to everybody to keep us with new deals... I don't need to spend gas for nothing....

I work at Target too... if you see an empty case at the "prison" showing as "xx.x8" (Clearance Price usually mark as $41.98, $29.98, $20.98, $14.98, $12.48, $7.48...they always finish with "8"), don't waste your time asking a team member or scanning, they would probably don't have the game in stock.

2 Targets in my area have always had a rather crappy clearance selection. After the remodel, it was even worse but I did get find a copy of Left 4 Dead GOTY for $9.98 last night so I picked it up. Kinda sucks the DLC on it was already free to begin with though. I can't complain.
Is it safe to say the Golden Age of Target clearance has passed?
Yes. Last one to leave please turn out the lights.
Is it safe to say the Golden Age of Target clearance has passed?
Yes, Even when I'm a Target Team Member, I can say the store hasn't good deals, it was well known for the clearance section.... 2 years ago... I went every week to pick up the latest games for much less.... it was a great hunting and much fun... right now looks like a good memories.... I guess I don't shop at Target Since March.....
Is it safe to say the Golden Age of Target clearance has passed?
i dont know what there doing with there games but games suddenly dissappear and reappear

Today I went to my Target to pick up Red Faction for the PS3 and on the way out I drove by the entrance of the store and some elderly couple RAN RAMMED there shopping cart into my bumper. :(

The new Target "prison" system is just killing their Games business. Nobody wants to even bother with the new layout and I notice that the games section is totally devoid of shoppers. Even the games knocked down to $37 did not even attract me - I cannot be bothered waiting for an employee to come over, unlock remove and escort me to the desk to pay right then - like I am a criminal or something.

The clearance has dwindled down to nothing - in fact one store does not even have a clearance section any more - they put in a bunch of crappy TVs for $20 off - which nobody will touch.

What is Target thinking? Kmart seems to have gotten its act together (which appears to have been inspired by CAG ironically). I swear this site will have the buying power of Walmart soon - if you consider how many people actually buy games and how many of them are on here looking for the best deals.

Sad to see Target make such an epic fail.......

I haven't bought anything from Target clearance since Christmas time last year. A few people here mentioned seeing Darksiders for the 360 on clearance at their stores, but it's still full price at all the stores around me. I would love to find that one...

Yeah. Clearance sections have dwindled down to nothing around here. I did manage to snag a copy of Brutal Legend for 360 for $13.xx. I believe its the last game deal they had in either of the Target's I used to visit.

At least Kmart stepped up when Target fell behind...

The old Target layout had games locked up too.

Target's clearance section in north county SD stores look like scenes out of Mad Max. Just nothing, couple PC games here and there but that's about it.

You can complain about the lack of clearance titles, but to complain about the new layout itself makes no sense, the games were always locked up requiring an associate to make a purchase as salty said. The only difference now is you can actually pick the game up and look at the back cover.

Also, to say Target "fails" for not having clearance is some backwards logic. Products get clearanced because they didn't sell for shit, how much money do you think Target makes off those $4.98 copies of LFD?

I loved Target clearance as much as the next guy, but c'mon... they want to sell games at $60, not $5...

this was marked $19.99 at my local Target, so is this YMMV?

All of the Targets within 15 miles of me no longer have a clearance section. I can't stand the plastic prison set up. They take up more room and hold less product.

Uh...how is this different than when they had a glass case with shelves, and you had to wait for an employee to come over and unlock the case, then escort you over to the desk to pay? How is this different than most Walmarts? It's only marginally different than Gamestop, except they just have everything behind the counter.

Best Buy may have games in boxes and allow you to look through them, but they also have a full-time security person at the front door hawking over a camera watching the media section. Feel like a criminal yet?

The bottom line is that these sections are the highest shrink areas of a store. You can't blame the retailer just because you yourself are honest. Most people are, but it's the few who steal who ruin it for everyone.

When I bought L4D a couple of weeks ago, the guy took it out of the case and then asked was I done shopping. I said no as there was other stuff I wanted to get and he let me walk though the store with the game. I dont know if this is stor policy or not, but he didnt have a problem with it nor did the cashier up front think anything strange.

It's not different in the least. People just like to bitch about change.

I love how his anecdotal evidence means Target video game sales are going down the tubes. Oh no! Oh No! I hope they know the sky is falling in Minneapolis.

Target has always let me do that when it's a clearance item, even when they have to get the clearance item out of the case. I guess they figure if you want to try steal a $20, go for it. They're protective of only their $50+ games.

I've noticed it seems like a lot more people are milling around in the game sections; I see a lot more people playing the demo systems than before. That said, maybe people are milling around because they can't find anything anymore.

I've also noticed a lot of the retractable display cases have already broken and are pulled out and laying all over the floor/rack around them.

I did find a Wii Speak for $7.48 at a store that sold out of them apparently a week or two ago, but it's getting pretty dry. The 100+ copies of Zelda DS that were here vanished, probably off to salvage.

But you can read the back of the game which is the point!

Had a pleasant surprise for clearance today, at least when compared to how bleak it's been lately.

Fallout Trilogy (PC) hit clearance at $7.48
picked it up as I felt it was more than worth it

Also, found Shawn White Snowboarding (PS3) for $3.74
this was really funny as the 360 version hit clearance so long ago, reached the $3.74 price, went out of stock and then came back in stock at 14.99

And finally, my local stores decided to clear out the guitar strings, but all of them were out of stock.

Some games showed up today, must have had them sitting in the back somewhere.

:360:

Spongebob Truth or Square $27.98
Il Sturmovik $20.98
Call of Juarez $13.98

Only one copy of each, so they won't last.

Wonder what else is sitting in the back?

Shaun White for $3.74...that's $3.74 too much.

I saw Madden 10 and NCAA Football 10 with NCF designations so they'll probably go on clearance soon, although that isn't a surprise with the new iterations coming out soon.

Chances are it is just starting clearance cycle at his store and it has already completed it at yours. This happens all of the time. I saw Call of Juarez last November on clearance and people have been reporting it popping up on clearance for the first time at their stores in the past few weeks.

I was on vacation in Florida and stopped by a Target down there and found a nice suprise.

360:
$5 Bioshock, The Saboteur, Dead Rising, Burnout Paradise, Left 4 Dead.

$7.50 Oblvion GOTY

$12.50 Resident Evil 5 Gold

PS3:

$5 red Faction Guerilla.

Target "fails" for not having clearance when their stock is collecting dust because most of it is at MSRP and going nowhere, especially when I've got to walk an entire aisle's length to look over the titles they have compared to the half an aisle I was walking. Not to mention the fact that often the prices seem updated less often in these new shells than they did in the former cases.

Just from what I've seen, more people are browsing, less people are buying. Is that enough "fail" for you? ;) Contrary to popular belief, stores do NOT want to hold onto stock, even if they have ample room for it, forever. L4D GOTY's value will drop whether Target puts it on clearance or not.

The new storage system allows them to stock more titles and for longer periods of time, thus less clearance. Best Buy has a LOT more room for games compared to Target, and thus they don't have the clearance or discounts on games that Best Buy does. Just because a game doesn't sell at YOUR store doesn't mean after X number of weeks/months it has to go on clearance. Target management realized they could keep the games at regular MSRP, or just do a $10-$20 price drop as opposed to the 50%-75% clearance that they used to do. Target "fails" for making a smart business decision.

Any business decision, smart or otherwise, that sucks for the consumer which I happen to be definitely fails as far as I'm concerned. Only someone with a vested interest would feel any differently.

Something caught my eye in the plastic prison section. Brutal legend for 360, had a red sticker (mostly) pulled off, and was back in the plastic case marked as $19.99.

This delineates what Target is doing, waiting customers out like Best Buy's business model. Best Buy would rather not make a sale than give the customer a good deal. That's why I don't shop at BB, and have ended up buying 3 TVs from Target over the past few years.

Wow, there must be an influx of Red Faction games coming out of backrooms everywhere, 'cause a lot of people are reporting a 4.98/9.98 pick-up.
