Target clearance is YMMV
Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction. Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 70% or 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price and DCPI # in RED!!!

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

They are right. If the self scanner shows a different price than posted here, it is Target has a different price for each item at different stores. Wait until the scanner has the price you want then buy.

If they're scanning the items, that's what they're doing. They can't lower it for you just cause you read it on the internet.

Well, if you use Glyde (like I do) this would make a $41 dollar profit if all of them are bought right now based on the current market price. Of course, as each day passes, the value goes down.

I bought 2 copies of LA Noire at $11.98, one for myself and one for my nephew. I found out my nephew already has it so I put it up for sale on Glyde and am getting $15.18 after fees. So technically I've made $3.83 profit. Whoopee!

That's because your store was in 30% off clearance price phase on said $39.99 game ($27.98), while other stores throughout the country have said game at the 70% off clearance phase ($11.98). Other stores may have the same game at 50% off, 75% off, or even some other percentage off, or may still have it at regular price.

Either wait and hope the game lasts for additional markdowns, or you could try calling around to different Target stores in the area and checking with customer service what the price is for that game's DPCI. If they have it in stock at the lower price, go and buy it. Or, even if they tell you they don't have it in stock because it's on clearance or whatever, buy it at the first store then attempt a return/rebuy at the store where it's cheaper.

Yeah, I know but I figured Target was run on a national level and not a per-store basis. I thought if something was set on clearance at one store, that was a liquidation among all stores like Best Buy's sales.

I never really took a minute to think about it logically...if I had, I would have realized my expectations didn't make sense since clearance by definition is a per-store liquidation of excess stock.

Thanks for those that responded and cleared my misunderstandings of how their clearance system worked.

Does your store have the scanners with numbers on the side? if so the item has a number on it usually in the format of XXX-XX-XXXX ....

otherwise take the item to the scanner and check the price
 
Crazy, havent checked this thread in a few days... roll into Target and low and behold, Zelda Skyward sword controller bundle, 34.xx. A complete W T F moment for me. I already have it but I called everyone I knew until I found a friend that wanted. Nintendo games rarely if ever go on sale especially a 3 week old AAA title when the vanilla version sells for 50$

I know they do this for space reasons but makes me laugh when I checked the wii section and they have crappy singstar bundles etc galore but clearance out zelda....
 
Walking through an isle I found a stashed Dead Rising 2(360) pushed flush against some home phone boxes. Bought it($8.98) even though I've had this game since its launch. I could see it from the angle I was coming down the isle. $9 Christmas present I guess.
 
Passed on a couple of 70% off LA Noire (HATED the game when I got it at release. Traded it 2 days later) and a WWE All Stars (not a big fan of wrestling games). Both games were marked wrong (at 27.98), but scanned at 11.98 or whatever...

Target does some odd stuff occasionally. On the release date/week of Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate Edition, it was on clearance. They must not have realized it was a "new release" and thought it was the old Origins or Awakening expansion that they had already clearanced out.

That's like LA Noire Complete Edition, or GTA IV Complete, or Red Dead Redemption Complete going on clearance just as they are released. Wonder if that will happen again.

Well actually i live in Mexico and PS3/XBOX 360 games sell for $90 dollars each at game stores. Blockbuster Video in Mexico buys games from you and you have the option of taking cash or store credit. Store credit is usually 30% extra than cash.

I sold all 10 between 3 Blockbuster Video stores and i received $550 pesos for each copy. $550 pesos X 10= $5500 divided by the current dollar exchange rate of $13 pesos per dollar = $423.08 dollars - the $129.08 i actually payed for the games = a profit of $294 dollars :bouncy::applause:

Does anyone have any estimates of when limited edition consoles start hitting clearance prices from when they come out? I've been wanting the Gears of War XBOX 360 and there's been just one sitting at my Target forever...

The economy is bad enough and companies are making huge amounts of money off of us so i see nothing wrong with making a profit on the side. I commend anyone who can make a profit to help with rising taxes, rent, utilities, cost of raising children, etc..
 
It is true, I am a model citizen. There's a statue of me in my home town's square, I'm a volunteer firefighter, as well as entrepreneur in the bison leather boot industry, using only bison leather sustainably made from humanely killed bison in an All American tannery and burger joint in Iowa.

And I save money by going to Target for video game clearance. While there today, I even saved a puppy from being hit by a cart and still was able to pick up the Uncharted CE for $49.98. But I left the cheap Naruto Super Ninjastorm 2 for all the children in the neighborhood, which has everyone look up to me as a role model.

AgentW: An all around great guy. A true Model Citizen.

Interesting experience at the Frederick, MD Target today:

I walked in, entered the DPCI for the U3 CE into the price scanner, and was glad to see the widely-reported $49.98 price appear, but it said that it was located at "N/A" and there weren't any in the storeroom. I decided to check anyway, and I found four of them...sitting on the shelf below the PS3 games in the glass prison where they likely were back when they were released, not anywhere near the clearance section and not stickered. The shelf sticker even said "$99.99" still, despite the fact that they scanned at $49.98. I picked up what I figured was the best-looking copy, though they all looked to be in pretty great condition.

In the checkout line, I picked up a Three Musketeers bar to get over the $50 mark and used the "$10 GC w/ $50 purchase" coupon to snag a $10 Target GC. :D

All in all, today was a very good day; now I just have to sell my vanilla copy of U3 from BBY's BF sale on Amazon. :bouncy:

Several stores around me, and only one had it on clearance. And it was only the PS3 version. And not the Target exclusive PS3 version (which they didn't stock). Other stores had both the regular and exclusive (includes two additional resistance bands) for full price. I scanned to make sure.

So if I ask an employee to go get it, is it going to scan as $99? Is there something they need to do to 'activate' it as a clearance game?

Time. You know(or should, by now) all stores don't drop prices at the same time. Mention the deal to the employee and forever hold your peace...
 
Went to my target store and ran the U3 CE DPCI and it said none on the floor or in the backroom..weird since I just called 10 mins ago and the operator said they had 5 in the back. I told the electronics guy to do a visual check and he kept insisting that there wasn't anymore. He even went "to the back" and came out and said there wasn't anymore. I didn't believe him so I went to guest services and talked to the manager (I literally called 10 minutes before I went to the store so I found it hard to believe someone could have bought all 5 in that small period of time). The manager went to the backroom personally to look for them and found 3 copies in perfect condition! target employees these days...

As indicated from the OP, ALL Target clearance is YMMV, whether it's games, clothes, or household goods.

Rarely will a game ring-up for a different price that varies from what the read-out on a scanner gives you. Obviously it wouldn't hurt to ask an employee but I'd say you have a 1% chance that the price varies from your original scan.
 
just visited Target, a customer, soccer mom, was buying all 6 Uncharted 3 Collector editions, haha, I was like man I wish I was her kid, the madness of clearance, good luck people, everythings going, going, *poof* ..... gone

The few :ps3: things I had my eye on like Spiderman and a couple other things were gone. i wasn't interested in them at $14.98 and was hoping for the $7 drop.

All that was left in the Hazel Dell WA target was DJ Hero (game only) and Raquet Sports and a couple other Move titles.

Went to 3 Targets trying to find either UC 3 CE or Zelda CE, but struck out on both :( Did get Tetris Party and Pictionary (both for the DS) for $5 a piece though. Also, got my 3DS :)

Funny, I just saw a businessman doing something like this today. he bought almost 15 3DS's and got a bunch of giftcards... I'm assuming it was probably the 'buy a 3DS get a $50 gc deal'. I bet he's gonna flip it on cg/fleabay... highly doubt he has 15 kids to gift them too :lol:

Yessssssssssss! I made a trip to the two Targets across town and scored the last Skyward Sword bundle for $48.98. I was disappointed I couldn't find a copy when it came out, but the discount more than makes up for that. I also picked up a copy of :ps3: Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions for $8.98.

Umm think about that for a sec...

Why do they clearance items? Is it to:

A) Drum up business

B) sell items for a loss because they just loathe money

C) Attract all those hot soccer moms to the store so 15 year old boys come in to buy their slushies and ogle the "merchandise"

D) Get the product out of the store however they can to make room for new product even if it is at a loss.






Whether it is 1 person buying 1,000 clearance items or 1,000 people buying 1 clearance item makes no difference. They just want it gone

As a businessman myself I agree. Morally it is wrong and obvious abuse when someone buys a large quantity of one specific media product.
