Target clearance is YMMV
Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction. Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 70% or 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price and DCPI # in RED!!!

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

I could use some advice. There's a copy of the CE of Zelda that has been sitting in my local Target on clearance for over three weeks now, and it hasn't budged from the $48.xx price point it had at the start. It's not a repackage; the price simply isn't changing.

What should I do? It'll have sat at that price for a month without changing and without being bought. I wanted to get it so that I could keep my original copy sealed (this one's beat up), but I don't know that it's worth another $50 just to keep one sealed. I was hoping that I'd be able to catch it at $35, but I don't know if it's ever going to drop again.

I know the one in Wesley Chapel, FL had a few copies of Dragon Quest VI for NDS for $10.68. I bought one but when I went back they were sold out. They had other games on "clearance" but the prices weren't any good.
 
I've been checking Target clearance for the past two weeks. Depending on the Target, either electronics clearance is gone or there is just the same old items from before the Christmas holiday.
 
Just picked up the gunstringer for $19.98 at my target in Wake Forest NC they still have 2 more copy's at that store

Those things sell for $70-$110 fairly easy. Even Amazon can't keep them in stock.

Personally, I just want the gold wii mote. As I don't have any version of Wii Motion+, it's gold with Zelda stuff on it, and it's the all-in-one type not the lame bottom add on. There is probably no way to buy the controller separate huh?

I'll try and be more specific. Since it's been a month, will it likely stay at the same price? Is there any chance it missed a price update? Considering I already own the game, is it worth an extra $50 to keep mine sealed? Should I keep taking the risk that no one will buy it? etc

If it's clearance, it'll eventually go to 70% off. It's up to you to wait that long and take the chance of it being gone or not. Do you think someone here has a fucking crystal ball to let you know if someone else is going to buy it before you?

Did you scan it to make sure the price hasn't already dropped and is just not stickered?

I live in Land O' Lakes and I believe I saw one down the road at the Target on Dale Mabry, the one next to the Walmart. It was a few weeks back though, not sure if it would still be there.

Snarkiness aside, In all the time I've shopped Target's clearance, I haven't seen a clearance item that wasn't labeled as Repackage stay at the same price for over a month. I have seen several items drop out of their system before they hit 70%, and have also seen them shipped back/sent to Goodwill before they hit 70% as well. But I haven't seen anything drop out of their system at only 30% before.

I was wondering if anyone else had seen this, but clearly I shouldn't have bothered you guys. My apologies.

Did you just check the tag or actually use a scanner every time you went to check if the price went down?
Sometimes clearance games ring up cheaper even if the employees haven't updated the tags.

For example, I picked up the latest Naruto game on PS3 last week - it was tagged $27.98 but it scanned at $11.98!

I'd either scan it, or type the DPCI into their store scanners.
 
Ok somewhat new to this whole target thing, using these online inventory checkers, what is the difference between out of stock and not available. I know that limited availability is usually when you struck gold correct?

Around the holidays (I think) last year or the year before I saw a bunch of random stuff stuck at 50% until after the new year for easily a month. That may have been because of the Epic Holiday Coupon though. When the psp and ps2 clearances happened, drops at a couple stores around me were about once a month also.

That said...
- everyone is right, scan it if you haven't already
- buy it and try to bring it back after it has dropped to 'use a different payment method' (a gift card would be especially inconspicuous at this time)
- wait it out
- buy it and be happy that you got such a rockin deal on a mysteriously short production run game.

That seems like all of your options.

At that price, I would snap it up before anyone else does. Nintendo never makes CEs, so the rarity of this will be high. I think it'd be worth it.

Out of Stock means that the inventory numbers/quantity for a certain item, according to the system, at the store are either 0 or negative.

Not Available means that it's not available to you unless you are the employee who is hoarding the stash of that item in the back stockroom or where ever. :lol:

Actually, IIRC it means that there are still some non-negative/non-zero quantities of that item showing up as in existence at that location, but that the location is unknown. Happens when the items get hidden (by either employees or customers) or stolen. "Not available" is when the real adventure begins, trying to put yourself in the shoes of an el Hoardo and figure out where in the store are secret stashes. Sort of like those criminal profiler shows on network television.

I know the golden rule is to never ask employees about a deal. But after searching through the store and not finding it would it be worth it to ask for someone to peek in the back or is it probably hidden bak there?
 
Not Available means that the store likely does not carry the item in question. It may have been there at one point in time, but things get shuffled around at Target quite a bit.

How do I know? I've worked there for two years.

Not sure if there's a date on there but those usually don't matter. My cap code for infinity gauntlet worked a couple months ago. Plus, I put in a code for alpha protocol last week after getting the game for $5 from best buy. The code was dated 12/31/10, almost a full year expired. It still worked like a charm.
 
At about 2 o'clock today, I found 5 copies of DJ Hero 2 for PS3 (standalone software) at $2.24. Brentwood, TN. The devil in me contemplated flipping them, but after spotting that Amazon gives you $2.25 for them, I decided not to look further into it.
 
I have a question. I picked up a game that had a now 9.99 red clearance sticker on it but when I scanned it, it rang up 0.00. What will happen if I try to purchase it? Will they manually override the price to 9.99. Will they refuse to sell it to me? Or would I get it cheaper than 9.99.

Should I take it to the electonics clerk and ask if ringing up 0.00 means I could get the game for cheaper than the sticker price or should I just take it to the normal cashier and act suprised when it rang up 0.00?

That has happened to me a few times and no matter what it was ringing up as, they always went by what was on the sticker. They insist that the price is what's on the sticker and refuse to look it up when I ask. I've tried this at the electronics and main cashiers.

This is what I thought would most likely to be their stance since it says on the clearance sign, "price as marked" but I didn't know if there was some special policy on zeroed out merchandise and was curious to see what happend to other folks.
