Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

picked up Uncharted 2 for $9 and change. Last one at my target in Easton, PA.

On a side not I went to walmart and they just got in about 30 Xbox 360 Kinect Bundle systems. 1 person bought EVERY SINGLE ONE of them. I had to wait in line (I was behind her) the whole time to buy a game which was in the locked case. Took about 20 minutes to take them out of the boxes and scan them all into the register to ring her up.

A dumbass sitting at home ripping people off on ebay/CL and who bought multiples of the one item I actually want to use, can go to hell.
 
Same here. Been trying to locate a copy of Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition for the PS3 here in the Midwest, but I am only seeing the Xbox 360 versions. The PS3 copies where on clearance for $20 two weeks before Thanksgivings, and there were a lot of them then. All gone now, and I don't think we'll see any more of them again, unfortunately.

Yeah--bitchin about horders is like bitching about open boxes at Gamestop. You can't stop death, taxes, hoarders, or Gamestop from inhaling all the new freshly printed and pressed manufacturing scent out of your game.

It's relative as to what's a ripoff to someone. Anything above MSRP to me, is a ripoff. If someone can dupe extra $$$ out of someone that's the fault of both the buyer and seller. Selling an item that should be readily available for more than MSRP is just colored in shades of dishonesty to me.

Snagged Mortal Kombat Unchained PSP for $3.74, and Wolfenstein for $12.xx. Not a lot of selection. Last week there were well over 100 clearance games(over half were rockband). This week there were less than 50.

This comment taken out of context may seem rational.

As your comment was a reply to a comment concerning an individual who purchased 30 Xbox 360's from wal-mart, of all places, the original comment was relevant worthy of merit. Buying out an entire inventory of a store's stock, in my opinion, is simply greed.
 
why do I have the feeling that I should be buying up cheap PS3 games right about now? I have no PS3 and don't have the money to do so ?

As stated in the OP, it's YMMV on this.

1. Drop the price figuring it's around the store somewhere (FTW)
2. Don't drop the price
3. Count it as stolen and drop it from their system, which means the price won't drop further even if you bring it to them and tell them to give you the last known price.
 
I know this has been discussed (not in the OP though.)

How are they about returning and then buying back at a lower price (whether in the original store purchased from or a different store)? YMMV right? Some will some won't?

I wasn't planning on buying the PS3 either and therefore skipped over the PS3 clearance stuff.
Then Amazon went and ahead and beat me up to buy a PS3 (the $75 GC deal) and now I'm REALLY regretting not picking up at least one of those LBP GOTY/DS3 that I saw 2 weeks ago for $41 each.

Damn.
 
Sin and Punishment: Star Successor was $12.98 over at the Potomac Mills Location (tons of copies left) and 1 copy of Tournament of Legends for $4.98

NHL was still too expensive hopefully next week we will see a drop on this one. Nothing for PS3 (I guess Target in my area has a lot of PS3 users)
 
El Hoardo seems to have found my local Target. All of the Fallout 3 GOTYs and DA:O UEs were gone after a day or two. They'd survived for quite some time before which makes me think it's someone buying up all the stock, rather than a flood of people who suddenly decide they want both games.

AH well. It's frustrating, but what can you do?
 
i would pick up nhl 10 for $7.48; but i think most of them in this area got a clearance reset at msrp of $24.99 and 30% off right now so it's sitting at $17.48

i was lucky enough to find 1 copy of nba live 10 that made it through to $7.48 and EA is doing live updates to that for this season due to NBA Elite bomb fiasco.

Eh... that's not quite south county. Ironically enough if you venture south into Irvine, those Targets usually all have pretty solid clearance sections.

I'm new to the target clearance and have a question. Are clearance items sometimes marked at regular price still, but scan at clearance? How often?

Welcome!

Sometimes (although they seem to be good about it around here) they don't update the clearance sticker on the game so scan it.

If I'm not mistaken regular games don't have any price on them but you can scan/get it scanned/enter in DPCI to check prices.

I have never had a problem doing this. I just take the game back to the counter and tell them I want to return it. They ask if there is anything wrong with it, and I say, no I found it cheaper. After they process the return I say I want to buy it. Inevitably they have a confused look on their face. I say you are selling it cheaper. They ring it up I pay for it and am on my way. I have never been refused when doing it like that.

To add to this My local Target does drops on Mondays. But this time of the year they also so them on a Friday. Of course this could be only mine Target varies as we have learned.

Yeah YMMV on the Monday and Friday thing.. and as of late just updating on Mondays seems to be a problem. I wish they did drops more consistently.

gah, i hate how they wait 2 weeks or so before dropping some games. I could swear GD:RB :360: has stayed $27.98 at my Target for nearly a month now...and DA:O UE :360: has stayed at $29.98..

c'mon $14.98 price tag!

Yesterday picked up the Little Big Planet GOTY and DS3 bundle for $30. Pretty decent deal though I have no interest in the game. If I can get half the cost off ebay good deal for a spare controller.

Target policy is to NOT sell it back to you. They are supposed to restock the item. There is nothing to stop you from buying it back then. If you get a CSR that lets you buy it back immediately, count yourself very lucky as this is not normal procedure.
 
Clearance games definitely took a hit recently at my Target, located on First Ave and Oracle Road in Tucson, Arizona. All I saw was:

XBOX360:
Green Day: RB - $19.98 (waiting for $9.98 drop)
Band Hero - $19.98

DS:
Age of Hercules - $7.48

PS3:
Wolfenstein - $14.98
