Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

No good games at my local Target recently, couple Beatles Rockband and some Guitar Hero games. Did score ok in the toy clearance though, lots of 75% off goodies! But majority junk left, guess the soccer moms got to it all first. Got a Toy Story toy and Spongebob driving game for a kiddie bday party coming up, only set me back $10.xx. Major score on a Lego Star Wars Anniversary Edition Darth Vader Tie Fighter, got it for $7.xx.

quick tip to anyone looking for cheap borderlands - at a couple of stores they've been behind the goty version in the plastic prison. just something to look out for!

Just picked up :ps3: Lost Planet 2 $5.04

Had a few Trauma Team for $27.98, the Sid Meier Pirates game for the Wii for $14.xx, and a ps3 version of DJ Hero (1) for $6.xx

Location: Machesney Park, IL

Nothing but Wii shovelware, :360: Naughty Bear for ~$35 and :360: Bayonetta for some obscene price.

Did score some decent stuff in the toy section though.
Yep, unfortunately everything is in a big case so I have to have them scan it. The employees seem pretty cool though but they already told me they buy up what they want when it first goes on clearance...you win some you lose some. I'll just print the bar codes out and scan them next time. Thanks for the help.
You really have to stick up for consumers in situations like that...if the employees admit to cheating the system a bit to get the best deals. Not sure if they were saying they cheated it a little or just waited until after their shift without hiding/lying anything, but if they are being dishonest it's worth contacting a manager or at least submitting feedback on their website.

Would this be at all possible? I live in Phoenix where here DAO UE is still full price. So what I am thinking is buying one with my credit card at full price, then send the receipt and 20 bucks to a kind CAG that lives around a target that has it on clearance. That CAG would then buy a clearance version with the $20 I sent and then return tha same copy with my receipt. Since I bought it with my credit card, they would return the balance to my card. I know it sounds like a lot of work but I'm a CAG! I want this game cheap lol.

I frequent the Targets in Madison Heights and Sterling Heights in Michigan and I can NEVER find any on of these clearance games. :(

I know. I was all excited when I saw Bayonetta in the clearance area. But then saw it was priced at $41.xx.

Saw Pirates for $14.xx, but I've already got it on PC.
I frequent the Targets in Madison Heights and Sterling Heights in Michigan and I can NEVER find any on of these clearance games. :(
That's my neck of the woods, and it is rife with El Hoardo's. You have to be checking stores consistantly. I miss out ALL the time, so don't feel bad.

Went to a couple Targets in Jacksonville,FL they had Bayonetta for $41 and some calenders and some kind of Justin Bieber thing.

I didn't buy anything.

I ran some game on Target, returned Borderlands and Fallout 3: GOTY. Previous prices were $15 and $25. Found an electronics employee, got him to grab them from the return counter and sell them back to me for $7.50 and $12.50 respectively.

Feels good man.
These guys are working shitty minimum wage jobs at Target. If their one perk is first pickings on clearance stuff, I'm not going to report them. Don't be a dick.

This.

I mean, come on. That SHOULD be a perk if you have to support yourself or your family by working a retail job - for not near enough money to put up with dicks.

Just sayin'

I agree with the last two perks.

Best perk of being an employee is first dibs on the best deals.

Screw the consumers - they can have left overs if there are any
quick tip to anyone looking for cheap borderlands - at a couple of stores they've been behind the goty version in the plastic prison. just something to look out for!
Yeah, that happened with Left4Dead also (in the glass case) when the original was on clearance. There were sometimes 4 clearance titles behind the GOTY editions.

Knowing this, I have checked near me, but in most cases I did not even have to ask to see them since there were so few GOTY copies, I could see they were not there. That and the fact that the inventory checker said "out of stock" kind of ensured I would go without this time.

Sure it's their perk to have first dip at the clearance but they should not be a fking hoarder and buy ALL of it.

There are other employees in the store.

This.

I remember when Dragon Age Ultimate Edition dropped to 14.99, there was a good 6+ copies at our store not too long before closing on Sunday. I got there at opening on monday and ALL of the copies were gone. When i was at the register buying a copy of Uncharted 2 (Which im surprised wasnt hoarded), the douche of an employee was bragging about how he had 3 copies of Dragon Age in the store room to sell on Ebay.

Newbie,

Please keep trading requests in the trade thread HERE

As for all the discussion about Target Employees keeping games for themselves, quit bitchin'..... if you worked there you would do it too...

Let's keep the thread on topic...

Thanks

man i always get my hopes up for these......and im always denied. that being said, i saw assassins creed 2 greatest hits tonight; red case and everything. its was kinda weird, and kinda sad...

Found it odd that FF Heroes of Light was NCF tagged & in a plastic case on the shelf in the clearance section but it isn't on clearance yet. Still $34.95.

I'm heading back Monday to see if it hits clearance.

Other than that it's total shit for clearance @ my Target. The guy working in electronics is a big gamer so I'm sure he gets the clearance deals first...can't much blame him.

I picked up Borderlands for $7.50 this week, but with a backlog of other games, I'm considering returning it. I don't have any others on my friends list playing it, and I know it's a great co-op game. Is it worth going through the entire game as a single player?
These guys are working shitty minimum wage jobs at Target. If their one perk is first pickings on clearance stuff, I'm not going to report them. Don't be a dick.
Being a dick would be hoarding the stuff in a secret spot until your shift is over, or having a friend buy it while you're on the clock, or "forgetting" stock in the back. At most stores they are not allowed to do that and for good reason.

Not being a dick is waiting until your shift is over, and after you punch out running back to the clearance and buying it.

If you confuse the two or stick up for them being a dick, good for you...I do not. If you KNOW that they are hiding items or buying while on the clock you should report them, bar none. Forget the fact that it could be costing them customers, it's also costing them money.
Yep, unfortunately everything is in a big case so I have to have them scan it. The employees seem pretty cool though but they already told me they buy up what they want when it first goes on clearance...you win some you lose some. I'll just print the bar codes out and scan them next time. Thanks for the help.
Actually, you may have a blessing in disguise here. If you get to know these employees you may be able to use this to your advantage. They have already show interest in these deals. You might be able to get them to hold a copy of the games for you. When I worked in retail we would hold items for a little while if we thought a regular would be interested in it.

If your in the Pinellas Park area the Target there has Borderlands for $7.48, got it last night and there were 7 copies left!

Damn...I really wish I had a target around me. I love borderlands and need a replacement since my youngest child took the disk out of my xbox and scratched the shit out of it. Those that do get it, have fun. It is one of my absolute favorites of this generation.

Picked up Red Steel 2 with motion plus for $9.98

DragonAge Origins :360: Oblivion :360: both for $6 and Rhythm Heaven for DS for $5.

Seems they moved the clearance isle to inside the video game section on an end cap. Had me fooled that it didn't exist anymore but there it was! New at my store was Trauma center 2 and a ton of Naughty bear for :360: A bunch of crap DS games that I just don't care about, sorry.

Harbison Target (Columbia SC) had maybe 10 copies of Bayonetta on clearance for xbox 360 , along with the same old AC figures and shirts.... nothing else worth mentioning

Nothing new at my Target. I did pick up the Star Wars collector's set of nine figures for $12.50 and the Mighty Muggs Star Wars 3 packs for $3.50.

Your only problem is that employees are receiving a benefit from their job, which sadly you have no moral basis in. If your only justification of their actions being somehow wrong is that "They are costing Target money" then congratulations, you'd rather stick up for a billion dollar company than the average American worker. Get your priorities straight. I worked retail, and yeah, sometimes I bought some clearance items for myself. You are a serious ass if you'd report a kid earning minimum wage because he wanted to buy something from the store where he works before you could get to it.

These silly disputes is why I have stopped buying at Target, BB and Walmart. They do so many sneaky moves that is not even funny. amazon and newegg = FTW.

I work at Target and I agree (quitting soon). Honestly I've never "cheated", rarely buy new games from there (amazon ftw).

You don't by chance ever hit up the store on Garner's Ferry do you? If so, anything there?

I checked that one out not too long ago myself. Nothing good there. Harbison had a few good games right before black Friday (me2 for $10, re gold for $20), but after the holiday rush it has been slim pickings. Still kicking myself for not grabbing fallout 3 goty edition. Had it and passed. Went back the next day and it was gone :whistle2:(.

Oh. Last time I went into Target and found something I wanted was during the summer. Got GH5 for my supervisor and the Platinum Hits version of Burnout Paradise for pretty cheap. Every time after that though, they haven't had anything...
I don't stop in there too much though, it's an hour's drive from Shaw. And I don't know where the Harbison one is, the only thing I know of on Harbison is the Columbiana.

Saw some good DS games on clearance tonight but not at a good price. Rang up Contra 4 ($25), Atari Collection ($20), Kingdom Hearts 354/2 ($15) and Blue Dragon Plus ($15). Not horrible on the last two but nothing I had to have, maybe they will drop further.

Target on Garneys Ferry (Columbia SC) had iron man and few other PSP games, Beatles 360 and other less stellar games but nothing great or super cheap.

Did have like all Targets in Columbia SC area alot of Clothes clearanced...

Annnnnd, it would appear you're still missing my point, or you just like sticking it to big companies. BUYING it is fine, as I have said several times already. I would consider knowing exactly when it goes on clearance, and having the ability to buy it either right before or right after your shift starts to be enough of a perk. Hiding it during your shift or otherwise "cheating" is not a perk...it's taking advantage of both your job and the customers. In fact, one of the downsides to a job like that is usually knowing that you could potentially miss out on deals like that because the customer is always supposed to get first dibs.

I'm not sure why you're arguing with me so much, only thing I can think of is that you yourself have "cheated" this way many times in the past and so you must stick up for the "average" guy out there to justify doing it yourself. I guess I'm supposed to feel sorry for this "average" guy at a minimum wage job? I don't, I had a crappy job for 7 years to get myself through college (long story and many complications...not just one school/one degree for 7 years) and what you're implying would mean that EVERYBODY should have comparable perks at their jobs of they make a crap wage. Nope, doesn't work that way, sorry.
