Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

I saw a few copies of Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition at a local target today. Wasn't sure if the prices were great, but I figured the XBOX price was decent. If you're in Dallas, I can tell you where they were ;).

Sealed in the game case, which is good, since the package was a little beat due to the spider wrap on it. The only thing in the external part is the flash drive. I really like the steelbook for the game. :)

Ghostbusters wii got assigned a new DPCI at one store that had it for $4.98 a few days ago. Now it is $14.99 in the wii value display at the front registers, so if your store still scans it at $4.98 or lower, buy it now if you plan to.

Also, got the last dj hero ps3 with turntable in my area. Scanned at $17.48. Luckily for me the pricing team had left the $48.98 sticker on it and the closest bar code scanner was way across the store.

I found a Ghostbusters today for $1.26. When I was about to check out I noticed the value display up front (wasn't just Wii though, mixed platforms). I don't think I'd ever noticed it before. It was in the second row of registers and pushed off to the side which they never have open. One copy of Ghostbusters was sitting up front and I got it.

Yeah I also noticed some xbox360 platinum hits in the value display. Bioshock was $14.99, and I'm pretty sure it hit lower on clearance in the past. Hopefully this isn't a trend to just move clearance games to the $14.99 value shelf.

Picked up Def Jam Rapster for $12.49 finally at Manassas Mall, VA. Also got DJ Hero for the 360 for $17.48, but probably will return it. 360 versions of both, but I did see some PS3 versions of DJ Hero left as well. Any takers on the 360 version of DJ Hero?

Update: My wife made my mind up for me. She took it back this morning when I told her I might return it.

Of the 5 Targets I frequent, I only saw one PS3 one the last 2 months, marked @ 47.xx up until last week when I snatched it up @ 17.xx. My guess is they'll be hard to find.

Oh, Here go hell come.

I've got a question concerning the PS2 (since I just noticed the earlier discussion of its reliability/long-lasting capabilities): I've had the Phat model for about 10 years now (bought it in 2001 soon after FFX released), and it never had any problems until last summer, when it would have trouble reading some discs but not others, e.g. it would freeze when I entered a battle in Persona 4 (oddly enough, this didn't happen until I had played a good chunk of the game, like 40 hours in or so), but I had no problems whatsoever playing all of Persona 3 after encountering that P4 error. I have a Memorex kit that could help fix the lens (I think it's a lens cleaner...it contains a disc I insert into the PS2 to clean something), but I haven't used it yet, primarily because I've been busy playing my 360 and PS3 since then.

So I haven't played my PS2 Phat for about 6 months now, and I'm concerned that the occasional disc-reading errors I'd been getting might be an indicator of old age for the console. I thought buying a PS2 Slim for $70 at clearance from Target was a good price to replace the system, but did I make the right choice? Should I use the Memorex kit on the Phat model and hope I can get a few more years out of it, or should I replace it with the Slim in the hopes that the Slim will last at least as long (hopefully longer) as its predecessor?

This probably isn't the right place to ask, but I figured it was worth a shot given the previous discussion on PS2 life (and I did reference the Target clearance above ;)). Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Here's the Amazon page for the Memorex kit, a laser lens cleaner: http://www.amazon.com/Memorex-CD-DV...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1301156778&sr=1-1

Picked up Bookworm for the DS at $9.99. It might have been cheaper on Monday, but I didn't want to wait since there were only two copies. I always wanted this one for the Game Boy Advance, but I could never find it. Can't wait to crack it open!

I check my local Target nearly every week and I have never seen any of these deals that people speak of on this forum. I would really like to pick up a copy of Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate for cheap.

I did the same, except mine was $9.98 ;) Only had one left and didn't feel like risking it.

Yeah, I need to start reading my receipt! ;)

Bookworm is a lot like my all-time fave GBA game Scrabble Blast. I've put dozens of hours into that one!

What?

I actually got my copy and left the other 2. 2 weeks later they were still there so i got them. Everyone had a shot
Does anyone have a DPCI for DAO UE PS3? I don't even see it listed in the OP?
[207-24-0435] Dragon Age Origins Ultimate (updated 1-9-10)

Because they already clearanced it in December at some stores and it made it that low then.

75% is usually last drop and being a 60 dollar game it shouldnt have gone under 14.95. Thats why i said for some reason :p

Yep, I'm sure there's a Sony gaming forum for this kind of thing. That said, if the error is rare, I'd probably do nothing with the Phat. Most likely the Memorex thing will do no harm, but why risk it? I'd also get a slim, if it doesn't break your budget - maybe not now, but before they disappear. Keep it as a backup, and/or use it for gaming at other people's parties - it's tiny and light compared to the phat.

You guys that find these deals are so lucky, the only great deal I've found was Metroid Prime Collection for $30 and that was a long time ago. Now it seems the deals aren't near as good as anymore. Are all stores gonna eventually have these prices? I would love to get GOW 1 & 2 for 7.98 on PS3

All these deals are YMMV. I live in the Detroit area and there are 4 Targets within a 10 mile radius. 2 have good clearance cycles and 1 never seems to have any. I found in my area the newer Target stores have clearance endcaps and bins, whereas the older ones don't have much and they're mostly in "glass prisons." But again YMMV

Very true, Most things seem to linger here too... I remember seeing Bioshock 2 CE for 70 for ages...

Here's hoping Halo Reach Legendary drops this week. Hopefully it will follow the current trend of skipping a level altogether and just dropping waaaaay down.

Finally found a copy of :360: Rapstar that dropped to $12. I would have preferred PS3, but I'll take what I can get.

Still waiting for the two 18.5" LCDs to drop once more at the local store. Maybe Monday....

Woah, found 3 copies of Samurai Warriors 3 for 7.49 (Another store still had them for 12.49).

Also saw a bunch of those Super Accesory Bundle's for DSi's for 12.49 (They had like 11 or 12 different things in them, wonder if they work with the 3DS)

Tons of LEGO Indy and Star Wars for PC at a high price I can't recall, and a bunch of Rapstar for PS3 at $24.xx in Austin on Ohlen Rd. Meh. There was one copy of :360: Truth or Lies for $4.98 but I've heard bad things so didn't bite.
I saw a few copies of Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition at a local target today. Wasn't sure if the prices were great, but I figured the XBOX price was decent. If you're in Dallas, I can tell you where they were ;).

DAO:Ultimate
:360: 360 $24.95
:ps3: PS3 $34.95
Hey, where are these games? I tried couple of Targets - North Haskell Avenue, Coit Road and NW highway. Apparently the only games in clearance are for the Wiis.

saw a bluray player w/ netflix and some other apps preinstalled for $49.xx, I'm pretty sure it was an RCA.. originally marked $99.xx

Can anyone confirm that the copy of Halo Reach that comes with the Legendary Edition is the same as the retail copy? Looks the same on Amazon, just want to be sure. I've already got the game but would pick up the LE for cheap if I'm able to sell the copy that comes with it easily. Of course I could sell my used copy too..

It looks a little different. The Halo LE one is in a black case (instead of green) I know that much for sure. I think it doesn't have a UPC though.

Hit my local target.
There are 2 endcaps of clearance games.
The first had Star Wars: TFU 2 CE for $60 was tempted but don't know what its worth. edit: saw its $40 on amazon, glad i passed
I just want the USB Hard Drive.
Also had some truth or lies and other shovelware.

But my happy was that DJ Hero for 360 was $17.98.
They had 4 copies but i only bought one.
I know they are a b*tch to ship so i passed.

Today I went to Target to pick up a 3 month.I checked out the clearance section I really didn't think there would be much to it.I found Rapstar for PS3 about 3 copies for $12.Also found about 2 copies of Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 Collector's edition for $55.xx and a PS3 copy. Also non game related saw at least about 10 320 GB external hard drives for $41.xx.

Read the OP and keep up with the thread, so I apologize for asking:

Is there a way to determine the DCPI number of an item from the UPC code or looking it up at the Target website?

I've got some receipts to sort out and figuring out what is what from the price and DCPI number is becoming confusing.

You can get the DCPI from the website if you can find the item, it's also on your receipts. If you dont know what a DCPI is, you can use the stock locator from the first page to try and find out, or call a store and have them check it on a pdt/register.

I tried to get a price adjustment or return/rebuy with GT5 CE and got denied...I thought I had a shot since it was a young cute girl. Then I offered to sign up for a Red card and she did it.

It allowed me to get GT5 CE for $24.98.

Game clearance sucked tonight. More wii and ds shovelware. Also pulled some old ipad cases, some headphones...can't remember anything else good.

That's a nasty deal. I hope it's down to $25 at my local Target.

Went to Target last night. All I saw was one copy of The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition for 360 for $55.xx and Samurai Warriors for Wii for $34.xx.

Picked up the last copy of Def Jam Rapstar (360) for $12.48. It's weird because it was $24.98 on Monday and then today its half off...I figured there wouldn't be a drop until Monday.

The same thing happened to me with DAO Ultimate Edition. I scanned it on Tuesday and it came up at $34.98. I went back today and found one last copy at $24.98. I'm pretty sure that this Target does their Electronics clearance drops on Mondays so I was surprised by the change in schedule. I bought it since it's the first Target around me that has dropped the 360 version to 50% off. I plan on doing a return/rebuy to get it at $12.48.

Seems like a lot of stores might be moving the initial drops to Sunday. I know my store usually does it later Monday or even Tuesday but lately the drops have always been there when I got in mid-day Monday. Oddly enough later in the week they usually put more out. So sometimes they do the drop late Sunday/early Monday and then around Wed or Thursday move more on clearance.
