Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

Reach Legendary bundles were still $104.98 at the store closest to me. Didn't want to miss out like the Black Ops bundles, so I checked when they opened.

Check the women's clothing racks. Sometimes the good stuff is there in the middle of the racks.

do not buy starcraft ii collectors edition for $50 you dumb$$!

It will drop again if no one buys it and we can all get it for $25!!

edit: lol my all caps rant got posted in undercase letters, never seen a site do that before :)

I got the last Mad Dog McCree Collection for Wii for $13.98 this morning. I saw the newest Worms game for Wii for $20.98 along with several DS games for $9.98. I believe Sims Apartment was one of those. iCarly for DSi was another.

I also picked up a bad-ass air purifier for $31.24 (down from $124.98). With all the games and crap in my apartment, dust is a major concern for me, so hopefully this will make the air more breathable. If my eyes are bloodshot red after a night of gaming now, it won't be because of the dust in the air. LOL!
I've been checking from time to time and was holding at $30.
Wasn't keeping tabs on the clearance thread and saw this today but my store has a $20 shelf tag.
Maybe I should have them scan it for me...
This seems a little YMMV--I have checked 3-4 of my local Targets on this, and they all have it regular price.

The DS version price is way down though--I think I saw it at one of the stores for $9.99, without a clearance sticker.

:ps3: Little League World Series 2010 - 9.98

I heard it was a fun game, not too serious, so I am going to give it a shot. I was hoping to find SWTFU2 CE but not even on the shelf at full price. Oh well, that game would have to be cheap for it to be worth it.

DS version of Brave and the Bold is $9.99 at Gamestop for their Saver Sale.
Sorry, but I do NOT have much time(I am driving as I type this :/) to read all.... can anyone pretty please tell me all the BEST clearances (doesn't have to be all games) now at Target? Thanks Very much back to driving safe. :) ... 50 pages behind
If you're driving, you should have much more important things to be worrying about than typing a sort of ridiculous request on a video game deals site. :p

My Target had a ton of stuff on clearance throughout the store (not much low enough to warrant buying yet, though). Almost all of their thumb drives and blank cds, several games already mentioned... They've clearanced a bunch of light bulbs, I picked up a couple CFL 60-watt equivalents for $3.xx and a couple two-packs of incandescent 30-70-100s for 48 cents.

Also there were several GPS units, hdmi cables, component cables, some batteries, a couple cheap universal remotes, again, all still too high.
LOL!
DPCI for that? thanks.
Picked up Force Unleased 2 collectors for 19.99 for xbox 360. They had ps3 for the same price.
I hurried over to my local target since I know they have some copies left, so they do, 2 xbox and a ps3 in the plastic prisons. Scanned them, still at 39.99...I asked when they mark off the clearance on the video games and electronics and they said it was "sporadic" and random like they get a list and they mark it off with that. Idk, can someone clarify? Will definitely stop by next week in hope of 19.99.

On other note, I was at the Davis location and they didn't have much else.

Be careful where you put those things. We used to have one of the expensive ones and we put it near the wall in the living room. The next weekend I moved it to vacuum and it had been blowing the air it was filtering on the wall and there was a huge spot that was completely discolored. I scrubbed the shit out of the wall and could not get the stain to go away. I ended up having to repaint the wall the next weekend.

My kids were happy to find a lone copy of Mario Sluggers today for $34.xx only to find out that it was missing the disk after we left the store. I assume it was stolen since the celophane was parted enough on the side that the case could be pried open. Wii games should really have security stickers to prevent this. I'll also have to start paying better attention given how frequent this appears to be based off of some of the other posters experiences.

I appreciate the dbag that ruined my kids day, and mine for being treated like a criminal when I went back to the store to get my money back.

"I asked when they mark off the clearance on the video games and electronics and they said it was "sporadic" and random like they get a list and they mark it off with that"

Some stores are just that, sporadic. At my store I've been able to nail down the fact that either late Sunday or early Monday they do the majority of the markdowns and adding in additional items. However, I've also been there on Tuesday afternoon and went back on Thursday to see not only new markdowns but also new items.

Unfortunately they think they're being slick by doing this. I assume the timing isn't mandated to be universal by corporate in order prevent people from camping out at the stores every weekend when they know clearance is dropping. Unfortunately it also has the effect of giving deals to random soccer Moms and Grandmothers who don't even realize what they have in their hands, and are probably going to give it to some whiny spoiled kid who could care less anyway.

this is probably a stupid question but where do they usually place the clearance sections? I have looked and they are nowhere to be found at two of the stores near me

It was well worth that a couple months back if you were willing to sell the flame helmet code on the bay. Now though I personally would say No. Game is great online, story is good, and swag is good. For me it doesnt justify $75.

Thanks for pointing that out. I had a feeling this came with some DLC code like the COD BO Prestige edition. Guess I won't be buying this thing now if it were just that helmet and the sculpture.

Always ask the electronics associate to open it for you--just straight up say that its been opened and you want to buy it, but you want to make sure its in there.

They should have no trouble with that--I always ask that when something has been opened.

Check the first page of the thread... easy. If you don't have time to look at thr first page you probably don't have time to shop Target clearance either. Your request is silly! How could anyone else know what game consoles you have or what type of games you like? We aren't your personal shoppers.

Not video game related, but I found a TomTom GPS for $49.99 on clearance (50% off). It was the XL 330-S model. DCPI# 057160010.

Also DAOUE :ps3: was down to $12.xx, but I wasn't able to find any copies.

Just wanted to mention that the comments about people finding games opened and some people even finding stuff missing are a serious concern. You guys should double check your items. It seems that some of this is not necesserily just customers though, but the result of stupid return practices. I just had a really crappy experience exchanging a PS2 system at Walmart (Ive seen them do this with stuff at Target toothough)

I bought a ps2 at Walmart a few weeks ago. I had them pricematch the Target clearance price (i had a giftcard). Unfortuantly the box was pretty beat up. Im anal about that kind of stuff so when i saw some at the store next town over i returned the next day to exchange my beat up box for a fresh one. It was unopened. Evidently consoles at Walmart only have a 15 day return policy.. despite the fact the receipt didn't mention that, nor was it posted anywhere in electronics. Only at customer service. I was 2 days over that 15 day limit >_<

This could have turned into a huge argument, but their stupid return practices made it easy. The system i returned was sealed, i never opened it. The manager there seemed like an ass, and he ordered the girl to open it up. WHen i pointed out that probably wasn't a good idea, that it was still sealed (i pointed out the sony seal still in tact) and that if they opened it they would have trouble reselling it, the girl said that that was true.. the manager yelled at her and ordered her to open it. So she tore up the bottom of the box and looked at it. Only when they went to actually give me the mint box did they realize it was past 15 days. After calling up the jerk manager (it was a different one at this point at the desk) they tried to tell me that they could no longer exchange it o_O I almost melted down on them. I told them there was no way i was taking a box that THEY opened back. I brought it to them sealed and THEY felt the need to open (rather poorly btw) a sealed new item, not me. At this point it was a different manager and she wound up doing the exchange even though the original Jerk manager had told her over the phone not to. There was no friggin way i was leaving the store with that opened system.

just a little rant with my crappy experience with them. I've seen Target dostuff like this on smaller items so i asume its some stupid policy. My father says Target did this when he returned a friggin pack of razorblades that were the wrong type o_O It was a friggin blister pack! what the hell?

If you see something that looks opened at these stores, it probably is!

So because you can't educate yourself as a consumer and know the return policy of stores the managers are jerks and asses? You were two days beyond the 15 day return period. What they did for you was a courtesy return.

Moreover, the reason they open up items when people return them is because some people like to pull the old switcheroo on stuff(buy a new item, put their junk item back in the box, then return the new box with their old item), so I don't blame them for opening up the item in front of you.

It's probably part of the procedure they have to follow as mandated by their loss prevention people, so again there was no reason to get so bent out of shape over it.

please tell me how i was supposed to educate myself. As far as i know the return policy was 90 days. Thats what it is on everything im aware of. The receipt DID NOT MENTION THE 15 DAY RETURN POLICY! i looked it over twice and asked them to point it out, they couldn't. That was after they said its on the receipt. The lady actually looked flustered and surprised when she couldn't find it. It is not posted in the electornics department either. The only place it was posted was at the return desk. How the heck was I supposed to find it there when i was making the purchase? Are you saying i should inquire as to every single item i purchase and ask if it has a different return policy than their standard one? That would go swell.. go up to the cashier with a bunch of items.. 'is that sweater 90 days return? is that box of pop tarts 90 days? are those pants 90 days? Is that book 90 days?.... Give me a break. They needed to either put it on the receipt or have it posted at the check out stand over in electronics.

And they DID need to do the return after they opened the product up. I brought them a new sealed item and they opened it up and then tried to give it back to me.. are you joking? This isn't gamestop. That doesn't fly with any company other than them. I most certainly did need to get bent outa shape when they friggin opened something that i had new and sealed then had the balls to try to give it back to me.

I may be able to understand opening some products that look shakey, but opening stuff like blister packs, or items that have unique factory seals on them like the PS2 is just stupid.

Anyway i was just venting a little on it and pointing out that it seems that employees are opening products up as well. Not just customers trying to gank stuff

The internet has quite a wealth of information on it, if you know where to look.;)
http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=walmart+store+return+policy

Q: Is there a time limit on RETURNS?

Computers and postpaid cell phones must be returned within 15 days.
They must consider the PS2 to be a computer if the return policy is only 15 days.

As for them opening the console and then trying to give it back to you, did you not intend to use the system? I can understand the nitpicking over the box being messed up a bit, but why wait over two weeks from when you bought it to decide that you didn't like what the box(which you don't play btw) looks like?

Something does NOT add up here. First you try to justify committing return fraud in the Fallout New Vegas @ GS thread and now this.

seriously man? Really? I should do a thorough internet search online before i make purchases for every item i buy? Christ, get real. Why the hell are you being so argumentative? I was just posting an example showing how employees at Target/Walmart seem to open crap up. As far as the return stuff goes, its the companies responsibility to inform you about items that are not in line with their standard return policy. Was i suposed to go 'gee i wonder if this item isn't 90 days for some reason, let me go home and do a google search and cross refrence their FAQ return policy' Get real.

And no i did not intend to open the system. Im a collector and wanted to keep it sealed and to use as a possible backup in case my other 2 systems (old fatty on my old CRT and newer slim on my HD) that I use die down the road. I have a huge PS2 library and want to be able to use it for many years to come. As i said the one i bought was probably the best out of a poor lot at my local walmart. This was in a different town. I was in there and noticed they had a few copies in mint condition so i went and got mine to exchange there.

You can argue the 15 day thing if you want, but I am seriously baffled if you think its ok for a company to open a new sealed product then try to give it back to you. Gamestop sucks, but at least they open their games right in front of you BEFORE you buy the item. Not AFTER. So you can tell them you dont want it. There was nothing wrong with it at all when they opened it, it was a sealed console and everything was there. Nothing looked damaged either which i was a bit concerned about since the back of the box was smashed in a bit

Yeesh, anyway: By the way, to add to the thread wanted to mention that i found some copies of
Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier for 9.99 Not sure if its worth pickign up though.

So you expect them to just hand you a copy of their policies or have it in bold face type that's 3 inches high on signs all around the store rather than educating yourself?:shame:

I take pride in being an educated consumer, since I at least know what my rights as a customer are before I go up to the returns desk and end up making an ass out of myself for nothing.

As for keeping a sealed console for later, I don't think I've ever done that before, but to each their own. I would, however, have checked the console within the first week of owning it or went to another store to get an undamaged box if it was going to bother me so much. So again, why the delay?

But as you said it yourself, there was nothing wrong with the console when they opened it, so that's likely why they handed it back to you. They felt that since they had proven to you that the console was ok that that was the end of it, since most of their customers probably don't care too much if the box is smashed as they intend on immediately using the item they're buying.
They must consider the PS2 to be a computer if the return policy is only 15 days.
That was their mistake then, not his. I understand that the manager at that store may do things differently, but I'm sure most stores wouldn't label a PS2 as a "computer" in a return policy. It's misleading and definitely NOT his fault for thinking he could return/exchange it without a problem (and he should've been able to without hassle). If I had googled their return policy and seen the part about 15 days for computers, I honestly wouldn't have thought they'd consider a PS2 as a computer.. so it's obviously not a case of him being lazy.

That's kind of like calling a gaming console an "MP3 player". Technically yes, it can play MP3s.. but the label would be incorrect, especially for a return policy.

So then what is a PS2 classified under? Their electronics return policy section doesn't specifically have a listing for gaming consoles if it's not considered to be a computer.

But for further clarification that WM DOES consider it a computer, you need only look at Sony's own page for the PS2: http://us.playstation.com/ps2/techspecs/ps2black.html

Just look at the top of the page and the heading before the tech specs. Sony themselves call it a 'computer entertainment system'. So therefore, that may be why the manager(s) at this WM used the 15 day return period.

That was my point, if gaming consoles have a 15 day limit for returns then they should be classified as "video game consoles" under their return policy. It's not all that hard, and most retailers consider "computers" as a completely different item if they're listed as some type of exception to their return policy.

Best Buy has the same 15 day return policy for computers that walmart has, and they don't reject video game console returns past 15 days.. If walmart doesn't have video game consoles specifically listed as an exception, I would expect to have no issues with attempting a return. I doubt that all walmarts would consider PS2 as a computer.. it was probably as he said, a "jerk manager".

the target by me has a SWFU2 C.E. minus all the extra's..lol all that seems to be in there is the game itself. would it be out of line to ask for maybe $5 off? is it a less than or greater than 1% chance of working?

Meh, the second they started raising static, you should have just said ok. Then went and bought another PS2. The next day just return the beat up box PS2 to a different walmart, or even the same one, with the new receipt. Nothing about that constitutes any kind of fraud, as its the same product from the same store.

No, f that. If you class a PS2 as a computer, then anything with a microchip needs to be considered a computer. If you're basing it on the fact that Sony's official tag line for it has the word computer, then you have to do that to everything. What does a Macintosh apple count as?
