Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

1) learn the return policy
2) stfu, this isn't a walmart thread.
lol. I'm kind of sleepy so for a minute there, I forgot what thread I was reading.

Looks like my main target removed all of their end cap gaming section.. the lady who always works back there is really angry so I didn't ask her were it went. Oh well got to drive little further now.
Won't work. Stores take record of the serial number when consoles are sold.

Amen, brother.
I have not done the return switcharoo myself, but have had friends that have. So, unless they updated this policy rather recently...
So you expect them to just hand you a copy of their policies or have it in bold face type that's 3 inches high on signs all around the store rather than educating yourself?:shame:

I take pride in being an educated consumer, since I at least know what my rights as a customer are before I go up to the returns desk and end up making an ass out of myself for nothing.

As for keeping a sealed console for later, I don't think I've ever done that before, but to each their own. I would, however, have checked the console within the first week of owning it or went to another store to get an undamaged box if it was going to bother me so much. So again, why the delay?

But as you said it yourself, there was nothing wrong with the console when they opened it, so that's likely why they handed it back to you. They felt that since they had proven to you that the console was ok that that was the end of it, since most of their customers probably don't care too much if the box is smashed as they intend on immediately using the item they're buying.
You take pride in being an educated consumer and knowing your rights but aren't you the guy who got banned from every B&M Gamestop? You sure had no problem looking like an ass there.
I bought a ps2 at Walmart a few weeks ago. I had them pricematch the Target clearance price
I don't care about the Walmart complaint, but I want to know how you price matched a clearance item? Did you buy a PS2 at Target to use the receipt for the price match or what?

Jesus tap dancing christ man, i dont know what your problem is but im done arguing about this. YES i expect them to hand me a copy of their return policies, or at least display them properly when they are selling items that are not in line with it. In fact most companies DO, they put it on the receipt. Yay your an educated consumer. Most people dont spend hours googling and doing research over every item to see if it falls in a different category for returns. They read the general poilicy and follow that. Most stores are required to place their return policy where people can actually see it. Either at the checkout counter at point of sale, or better yet on the receipt. This was not the case here at all. Even the lady doing the return said it was on the receipt and was flustered and surprised when it wasn't! Regardless the point was to show that employees were opening up products since people were mentioning they were finding opened items.

blea, jeeze. My original post was a small vent and mainly to inform people that opened games at Wamart AND Target are not necessarily just customers opening stuff. It appears that employees are opening returns up even when they are sealed. I thought it was something people would want to know. How that turned into a page of Iamthecheapest bitching back and forth with me i dont know, but im done arguing about it. Im not gonna even get into the ps2 clasifcation topic. Sorry to everyone else for going off on a bit of a tangent
You take pride in being an educated consumer and knowing your rights but aren't you the guy who got banned from every B&M Gamestop? You sure had no problem looking like an ass there.
Well theres a reason for that. You see mirrors are at eye level, and if your trotting around on a high horse you cant really see yourself in them
Special Edition Mario Kart DSi XL- $152.98
Im seriously considering getting another one if they drop a bit lower. What was MSRP again? Thats what i payed at amazon back when they had them for my extra one.... i thin it was 170 dollars? When you factor california sales tax in 152.98 is still a bit high. I wonder if they will keep dropping, i'll have to check to see if my local one even still has any

I already have one im using and one sealed in a box to collect. it might be cool to have an extra backup in case mine craps out.
I don't care about the Walmart complaint, but I want to know how you price matched a clearance item? Did you buy a PS2 at Target to use the receipt for the price match or what?
yes actually, thats exactly what I did. I had planned on buying one at Target, bringing the receipt over to walmart and having them price match on that, then returning the Target one since i had a $50 gift card for Walmart. I figured just telling them they were 70 dollars at Target wouldn't work. I never did return the Target one though. Since the walmart one wasn't in great collectors condition i thought id have one as a backup system and one as a collector item. However finding good condition boxes at the other walmart has left me with 2 collectors condition ps2's now which is cool. I considered taking the Target one back but i may just keep it.. besides who knows maybe its only 15 days for ps2's at Target too =P

Thanks, that's what I figured, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.
a couple of target stores that I visited today had SWFU2 C.E at $39.98.
it has been that way for about a month!
Mine had a 39.98 sticker on it but rang up 19.99... so you should always go scan it and see what the true price is.
This seems a little YMMV--I have checked 3-4 of my local Targets on this, and they all have it regular price.

The DS version price is way down though--I think I saw it at one of the stores for $9.99, without a clearance sticker.
Yeah, it really does seem to vary. My store is at $19.99; two others I checked today are at $29.99.
All three have the DS version at $19.99

And me with my Happy Meal coupons....waiting...

The Target on San Jose BLVD here in Jacksonville has not updated yet. I hope soon though, since they changed their "50% off Clearance" sign back to 30%.

My Parma Target store had :360: TFU2:Ultimate Edition for $19.98 even though it was still stickered at $58.98. Nice find until they come out with the inevitable Sith Edition II.

Manassas Mall had :360:SFU2 CE for $39.99. I still haven't finished the first, but I'll pay $19.99 when it drops there for no other reason than the cool looking USB drive.

Apologies to all who read the Target thread for Target deals. I am done replying after these. Sorry again.
it was probably as he said, a "jerk manager".
Or it could be that they went into WalMart with an entitled attitude and were a demanding jackass to the hourly workers who just have to follow what their manager and corporate policy says.

Maybe WM corporate allows managers to interpret the return policies based on their own experience and maybe that store had had too many fraudulent returns, so they just wanted to cover their ass and the store from another loss by having the employee open up the item.

But yes, the return policy SHOULD be clearly written out. However it does also fall to CUSTOMERS to know the return policy and any possible exceptions. Ignorance is just an excuse and a lazy one at that.
No, f that. If you class a PS2 as a computer, then anything with a microchip needs to be considered a computer. If you're basing it on the fact that Sony's official tag line for it has the word computer, then you have to do that to everything. What does a Macintosh apple count as?
You mean the Apple Macintosh or a piece of fruit? A piece of fruit is a piece of fruit, but the iMac IS a computer, as is a PS2, PS3 and every other gaming console. Anything that has something that has to be coded/programmed for it is technically a computer.
You take pride in being an educated consumer and knowing your rights but aren't you the guy who got banned from every B&M Gamestop? You sure had no problem looking like an ass there.
Actually I was within Gamestops own written rules, as I had manager approval for the trading I was doing. However someone somewhere along the way thought otherwise and obviously brought that to the attention of corporate. Either way, I really don't care, as being banned from Incompleteandscratchedtoshitstop was a blessing in disguise. It's allowed me to focus on my backlog and not working to find new sources of games/items to trade to them for their piddily store credit.

As I said before(and above), maybe that store had a ton of bad returns before, so they were just covering their own ass by opening up the system. I can understand to some extent why you would want a perfect box, as I do nitpick about the condition of games when buying them usually.

But what you STILL have not covered is WHY you waited 17 days from when you purchased the console to suddenly decide you didn't like the condition of the box and wanted to get different one with a better condition box.

As far as me being on a high horse, I'm not the one being lazy and expecting a store to hand me a flyer with their detailed return policies on it when I walk in the store. But let me ask you, what WOULD you do IF they did hand you a flyer when walking into a store with detailed return policies clearly written on it when you just came in for a quick shopping trip? Chances are you would toss it in the nearest trash can and STILL come back here to complain that they didn't tell you the return policy in the way YOU wanted to be told it.

Some stores(Kmart, for one) actually put the final date you can return stuff by on their receipts. Of course, this is also open to interpretation by individual managers, as I had a manager at a Kmart cross out the 90 day return period date on a receipt I had for a clearance game one time and write in a 30 day return date.

Sorry bout the off topic stuff there folks. I had written(and posted) a huge response, but have since deleted it since no amount of going back and forth will obviously change some people's opinions(least of all mine).

Back on topic my local Targets still suck for clearance. That is all.
does anyone have a dpci for the 360 stfu ii ce?

I forgot to copy it down tonight when i found 2 for $55 still. :(
Picked up x360 SW:TFU2 CE @ Chanhassen, MN Target, was marked @ $55.98, scanned for $19.98, the lady at the register thought i swapped barcodes or something, she manually punched in the DPCI for it, from the $55 sticker, then just kinda went meh, and put it in the bag, $19.98, not bad..it was the last copy at that store.

St. Cloud, MN both don't have a 360 version, but do have 1 version of ps3 at each store locations, not sure what they scan at, yesterday they were marked at $55 though.

Defjam Rapstar w/ mic was also $12.48 as well. 360 instock only at all 3 locations as of yesterday.

The Bloomington, IL Target still has two copies of SW:TFU2 CE marked at $55.98. Didn't have them scan to see if they were cheaper; I'm not really interested in it.

Bunch of Wii shovelware, otherwise.

Okay clearance tonight. Some highlights were iron man 2 ps3 and 360 starter kits. The starter kits are 99.99 with the old 60 gb hdd and I would love it if it survived to 75% off. Also pulled some del monte light peaches.

Found some Hard Shell DSi cases for 3.74. Not sure if its really a deal for most, but a cheap 3DS case is always welcome for me.

Now to see if the giant 20-in-1 Bundles for DSi dropped from 12.48 and 24.99 tommorow.

Also hoping Star War's TFU2 Collectors Edition dropped
Won't work. Stores take record of the serial number when consoles are sold.

Amen, brother.
ahhh forgot that...

Well this is interesting, think I just found an item on Target clearance at about 94% off:

:ps3: DJ Hero - $3.14

it happens some times but rarely. after the item goes 75% and goes salvage where we have to send it back. sometime the worker has an option for a single item markdown to lower it ever more.

@DJ Hero for $3.14: It says "was 49.99" all copies I've seen at Target say "was 69.99" which is why I thought $17.48 would be the last drop 75% off, anything past is YMMV on managers, then super YMMV on "was" price! heh

I'm worried, Star Wars TFUII has been marked correctly at 39.98 for 3 weeks now. Got like 10 employees eyeballing it.

In response to the notion that Target employees open up consoles, yes we do. We used to only look inside if it was open, but now we have to open sealed packages. We received a pamphlet around the holidays last year about checking every console return thoroughly. I think the store was worried about people stealing harddrives and accessories out of the box.

I returned the Mario Kart DSi XL last night and they didn't open it. They sat and thought about opening it until someone from electronics came by and told them that it was factory sealed and they shouldn't open it. I really thought they were going to open it to check it out. Would have been a shame to open something that was brand new. I guess they would have had to sell it as a repackage.

I guess it varies by store. Some managers and guest service team members or lax. That or they just threw out the policy all together. My store is terrible at keeping with the rules. Each manager does things differently. I myself hate opening up sealed consoles because it wastes time and no one wants to buy something that already looks open. Glad they didn't tear up the ds.

Does anybody know if Target sells them as repackaged when it's opened by Target employees? I know they do if it's opened by a customer and returned...

I was just curious since it would be a little funny to think of them selling it discounted when Gamestop sells opened stuff as new all the time.

The store closest to me is still showing PS2's in stock according to the mobile stock locator thing. Here's to hoping they dropped them to $50 or under by now.;)

This morning:
SW: TFU2 CE :ps3: & :360: dropped to $19.xx
Halo: Reach Legendary dropped :360: $37.xx
Worms: Battle Islands dropped :wii: $14.xx

There didn't appear to be any new items.
Picked up the PS3 copy of TFU2.

in worcester ma they had:
ps2 slim for 69.99
halo ce edition for 79.99
dj hero for 19.99

i didnt look for any other things, those just stood out to me. I did however raid the store for further odd clearance items and got some silly stupid deals. 4 bike hitch racks for 6 bucks-ill take them all please.

At my store its either defected out or put back on the floor. We rarely repackage, but if we do its usually something from the floor that is missing packaging/torn up packaging or returns that are in between resale condition and defective. Honestly the only things I see repackage a lot are socks/shirts/underwear packs. I don't know if other stores do, but I've never seen a console repackaged.

Some drops today, although the Wii games I was eyeing cleared out.

FINALLY SW:FU2 dropped, and Halo CE hit rock bottom...I already have one though, so I guess this will be trading/selling fodder.

Bunch of DS accessories for cheap as well, etc.

360:
SW: FU2 - $20
Halo Reach CE - $35

Also found a wireless Lexmark for $25, finally hit 75%. That's easily the cost of one cartridge. >,>

Bummer, I just ordered a copy for $11.xx ... wonder if I can find one of these at my local Target?

Has Reach Limited Edition (not Legendary) hit the clearance cycle for anybody yet? It seems like it's been infinitely on sale, been expecting it to hit clearance for weeks but it hasn't yet.

Just bought Reach Legendary for $37.xx.

Last one. Some guy was staring at it contemplating, but I didn't have to think about it so I picked it up and walked straight to the register.

Today was a good day. On the way to school, I picked up:

STFU 2 CE $19.99
Chicken Shoot $7.48
Dragon age ultimate (both ps3 and xbox) $12.48

4 games for $56 was not bad

No, not for $4.

My brother picked up the last two Reach legendary in Stafford, VA. They had two PS3 ST:FU2 left.

Ill have a detailed store to store post at the end of my 5 store indy trek, but will post anything significant if I see it:

I picked up Rockband 3 software PS3 for 19.99 @ West 38th, looks like a price drop but not clearance. Saw MLB 2K10 for PSP 4.98. Nothing else of note.
the target by me has a SWFU2 C.E. minus all the extra's..lol all that seems to be in there is the game itself. would it be out of line to ask for maybe $5 off? is it a less than or greater than 1% chance of working?
Yeah. Go ahead and ask an associate there. They would typically sell it as a repackage with some predetermined discount ratio.

Asshole employee (yes 1!!)

Scooped up both Halo Reach L.E. that were marked down to $37.49 today.
Jerk had a giant grin on his face while he was explaining someone picked them both up 10 minutes after I called and asked if they had any left. I know it was his ghetto ass on the phone too.
